blanche - Nina's first words were 'mum' :dance: but Emily's were 'bubba', and now it's 'dad'. Still no mum :(
kristale - When Nina was about 4 months old, she was doing the same thing as Amelie is doing. We went away for a week, and stayed with friends, and it was so hard trying to settle her in someone else's house. It did my head in. Hopefully you have an easier time with it. Enjoy your trip.

Haven't been sure whether it could do with my dodgy gall bladder so think I;ll wait till I have that out next week and if my energy levels are no better after that, will have to see a doc about it. How did emily go weaning onto formula??
Kristale: hOpe Amelie settles down for you especially while your away. Theres nothing more likely to stress you out than a bub that wont settle easily in front of family & friends. Good luck.
My goodness I can't some of the bubs are already talking too. Macey is very vocal but hasn't resembled any part of a word yet just lots of squeaks & squeals.
I;m madly trying to build a supply of expressed milk as I go into hosp next Thurs lunchtime to have my gall bladder taken out via keyhole surgery which I'm starting to really crap my pants about now. best case scenario, I'll only miss 2 feeds + a night one if she wakes and should be back home Friday but will not be able to lift or drive for at least a fortnight. Am just praying that i'll be able to manage to keep feeding thru it. Will just be glad to have it all over & done with.
ok need to run & get Harry to bed and Macey some lunch. Think I might try her on some yoghurt today. Would be great for her if it hekps with poos as she is still a little clogged up. will try anf come back later :-)
I'm so jealous of all your bubba's that are rolling already! Joshua just likes to lay on his backs and wave his arms and legs in the air. He is enjoying tummy time so much more now, especially if I get down on the floor with him. He just cracks up laughing. It's so funny.
The past two weeks he has not wanted to sleep during the day. It's really frustrating because I can't get anything done! But today finally he fell asleep in the car on the way home from the shops and he stayed asleep when I put him in his cot wooot!! We've got a big weekend ahead and I want him to sleep a bit so he's not cranky!
Tomorrow we are getting his hand and foot castings done, then tomorrow night is our work xmas function. Sunday morning we are going to a friends naming ceremony and Sunday night we've got dinner at the inlaws....busy busy...
Joshua has loved the solids. I tasted the rice cereal and it tastes revolting! But he likes it so that's the main thing :) Going to try him on pumpkin on the weekend. He gets excited when I put his bib on, sit him on my lap and then his eyes light up as soon as he sees his spoon and cup.
We went to the paed for a check up today and she's really pleased with everything, so thats good.

I'm not having any luck at all with Elena on solids. I've tried rice cereal, pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, pear and apple and she won't have any of it in her mouth. The only thing she has chewed on is a piece of garlic bread that her sister gave her while I wasn't watching last Friday!! Must be the butter I think. Maybe I should just go straight to pizzas with her??? Otherwise, she's had a huge weekend. Saturday she hauled herself up on the sofa and started taking some very wobbly steps and now there's no keeping her off her feet. She started babbling bubba and mumma and then I discovered at the end of the day that her first tooth has poked through too. Quite a day for one small person. She has also become as addicted to In the Night Garden as Isabelle is. Very funny seeing them sitting side by side watching it in the mornings. Still, its great to get as much as half an hour where I can get some things done.

We have a mover! Well sort of, she's starting to become very mobile. She almost rolled off my bed today, eek! When she was having tummy time today, Nina and I were crawling around her, and Emily was trying to get up on her knees. I don't think it'll be long until she does.
At the moment Emily has a rash all over body. She was unwell last week, fever, restless, not eating/drinking, then a rash appeared on Sunday. We took her up to the hospital on Sunday night, and they ruled out Meningiccal, chicken pox & measles. They said it didn't really look like heat rash, but it could just be a really bad dose of it. Or it could be a viral infection rash. But considering she is now well, eating and drinking again, and all smiles, but the rash is still there, just as bad as it was on Sunday. So I'm thinking maybe an allergy rash?? I'm taking her to the dr's tomorrow, so hopefully he can solve the mystery.
lulu - ****! Walking already. Geez, there is no stopping her is there. Emily loves The Night Garden as well! She giggles at it. I remember when Nina was about this age, she used to giggle at Kochie (from Sunrise) :lol:
As for solids, have you tried both home cooked food and jar food? And different brand jar food? Nina was very fussy with her food as a baby, she hated home cooked food, and would only eat Heinz baby food :rolleyes: Thankfully, she'll eat whatever is put in front of her now.
laranna - great to hear everything is going well with Joshua and that the Paed is happy as well. What a weight off your mind it must be.

Emily went ok with going onto formula. It took a while to find the right bottle, but once she did, she didn't look back. Some days I'd give anything to be able to b/f again, but I'm feeling so much better (physically) since weaning.
Lulu- Omg Elena is amazing how much she is doing already what a clever girl! Amelie isnt screaming so much now but she is now waking through the night 2-3 times crys out but goes back to sleep but it means I wake up. So not sure what that is about.
Laranna- Hope the castings went well we had them done at 3 weeks and looking at them now sooo tiny. I hope your busy weekend went well.
Jodi- Yay on Emily moving it sounds like she isnt far away.
We we both came back with a cold from our weekend away. So feeling pretty tired and crappy and dh has been away but back today thank god I need a break.
Gotta go Amelie is cracking it.

Just a quick one as I am still sick with the flu (it's been nearly 3 weeks now :( ). Joshua loved his pumpkin and we tried sweet potato this morning and he loved that too. Makes it easy that he is enjoying solids.
Castings went well, I hope they turn out. It will take 4 weeks to get them.
Had a hectic weekend but it was all good. MIL gave Joshua an early Christmas present and he loves it. It's a fisher price sing along choo choo animal train. Now I have the animal song it plays stuck in my head all day!

hey Jess. Good to hear you're still b/f. I hope the supply issues sort themselves out.
Took Emmie to the dr about her rash. It looks like it's clearing, but there are some areas where it looks like blood blister type things. The dr said that's most likely due to restricted blood flow. I've got to keep an eye on it for the next couple of days, and if it spreads, or gets worse, have to take her for a blood test. Hopefully it won't come to that.
But she's back to her happy little self again. Rolling around all over the floor as I type this. She keeps looking at the tv and laughing! She's sleeping on her tummy each time she's in bed now, and she's really keen to get moving and play with her big sister.
eta: laranna, hope you get better soon. I bought that train for Emily for Christmas!
Jodi- My DS had a rash that looked like needle *****s (tiny blood blisers) they still dont know what its from
Jodi - I hope Emily's rash doesn't get any worse. Poor little poppet. At least she's happy with it so that's good. I'm glad her transition to formula has gone well and great news that you're feeling better. Its hard not being able to feed your bubba but everybody has to be happy and healthy. Thanks for the idea about trying different kinds of food - I've tried mainly home cooked so far but with one jar of stuff. Might have to try other jars. Her tongue pushes the spoon out so I'm wondering if her gag reflex is still too strong?
Laranna - sounds like Joshua is doing brilliantly on solids. I know what you mean about that train song - Izzy got the train for Christmas last year and OMG the songs really do get stuck in your head. You know you've heard it too much when you start humming it while wandering around Coles!! I hope you're feeling better soon.
Kristale - great that Amelia has stopped screaming. Its frustrating when they stir enough to wake you isn't it but the great news is that she's learning to settle herself. Ellie went through this phase a few weeks ago and is now sleeping through so hang in there. Uninterrupted sleep is within your reach :D
Elena now has two teeth, which have played havoc with early evening times. She's so miserable and we're finding we have to give her nurofen and bonjela around 10pm to give her some relief so she can get to sleep. Poor poppet. And only another 18 odd months of teething to go!!
Had an awful night last night with Emily. She was really unsettled for a few hours, then finally did a poo. I got a whopping 2 HOURS SLEEP! :asleep:

Tried Joshua on sweet potato yesterday and he loves that too. So far we've had rice cereal, pumpkin and sweet potato. Next I think we'll try regular potato and then move on to the fruits.
This morning he rolled over from back to tummy for the first time! :) I think he finds this easier to do than going from tummy to back which is odd because I thought going from tummy to back was easier for them.
I was up half the night coughing and feeling blergh. Luckily Joshua still slept through it all. I ended up getting up and sleeping on the couch so I didn't wake up DP and Joshua. Can't stop coughing today, it's driving me up the wall.
Joshua is doing so well on his solids! I hope you feel a lot better soon Laranna.
Jodi - I hope Emily is a lot more settled today and maybe you can grab a nap? Yeah, I know. Ha ha. Almost impossible with two little ones. I can never remember if bubs go through an unsettled period before or after a big developmental stage. Maybe something new is on the horizon for her?
I tried Elena on a different jar of baby food yesterday - tried the apple and oameal that I used to give Izzy and she loved it. Actually opened her mouth wide and sought out the spoon. Very encouraging that she is at least ready for solids. Not so encouraging that she might be really fussy. Oh well.

jodi - hope emily has recovered from her rash, that must have given you such a scare, but so glad to hear she is feeling better, but sorry she's unsettled, does that make sense? hope you know what i mean. hope you managed to catch up on some sleep. re the bf'ing you did so well getting this far, hope your iron levels start to rise and you start feeling better soon.
kristale - hope your feeling better too, i've heard that being out of their own rooms, ie being away, can unsettle them, hope amelie comes good soon.
blanche - how you feeling hon? is the medication going ok? i have a good friend who has pnd, her circumstances are a little like mine in that she lost her first child, but she like you realised something wasn't right and is now on medication, she's slowly feeling like she is becoming a little more normal but realises there is a long road ahead.
this little man has been very cranky of late, his 2 teeth have come through so that got him unsettled, he only sleeps longer than half an hour during the day if i am walking him in his pram and screams the house down if he can't see me so i am barely getting anything done, he hates being in our house and only calms down when we go out, and at night he does 3/4 hours at the most straight, i'm thinking i might have to try some formula in the evenings to see if that fills him up, cause everyone keeps telling me he should be sleeping through. don't get me wrong i'm not complaining, but i really don't know what to do he just seems to be unhappy when he is with me maybe i am doing something wrong i just want to make him happy!
on another note jo is looking more like his sister everyday which makes me both happy and sad, happy that he looks like her but sad that she isn't here. anyway sorry for my babble, just needed to get some stuff out.

I'm back on board once again. Got home from hosp yesterday but haven't had a chance till now to egt on here to say Hi.
Thanks for everyones well wishes. After having to wait 5hrs in a chair in the hosp, the Op went well and I was back in the ward by 7:30pm Thurs night and was discharged at 10am yesterday. Got to keep my gallstones as a trophy and DH counted 42 of the little buggers! Been pretty sore with shoulder pain from the surgery gas and woozy & nauseous from the anaesthetic but otherwise ok. DH has got till next weekend off on carers leave so thats a big help with the kids and driving.
All went ok with Macey & BF during it all. She apparently had no problems taking 2 bottles of EBM and 1 of formula from DH + normal solids so that was big relief. I pumped for one missed feed in hosp and have seemed to keep my supply up ok which is a relief.
Sorry for no more personals- keep vaguing out a bit so my memory isn't too crash hot atm. Hope everyone has a good night!
Glad to hear that the bubs are doing reasonable well bar Emily's lack of sleep -poor Jodi. Hope tonight is better for you.
Macey had her 6month checkup earlier in the week too with needles again. All went ok. still on the smaller side with her weight now 6.7kg but MHN was happy with her progress. she coped ok with the needles but needed a dose of panadol after tea time to settle her for sleep. Think her legs were still a little tender. All good now though.
Thought I'd better start tonight gettingher used to sleeping unwrapped so she's gone to sleep with one arm out. So far so good and will do the same after her last feed as well. You forget how cute they look sleeping wih their arms poking out the sides :-)
