My Riley is a shocking sleeper too, he has woken up crying recently saying "scary, scary" so I think its bad dreams but then again when has he ever slept well except straight after tresillian? LOL
Did you have sleep issues with your older kids Christine?
sheree - i am so sorry that you are having these feeling again. Rememberr that these feelings don't last forever though and even though you are having these feelings doesn't mean you are any less of a mother or love you baby any less.
sara - maybe the different sleeping habits have more to do with different personalities? I was a kid who was a fussy sleeper (still am), find it really hard to sleep if im not in my own bed in familiar surroundings, Archie is the same as i was.
christine - poor Riley having scary dreams
Arch slept most of the afternoon away, he only just woke up! Jay is hoping to get lucky tonight, dont like his chances since Arch will prob be up til we go to bed now that he has had a day sleep, and he is sleeping in our room atm!
The wife of one of Jay's colleagues has kind of taken me under her wing. I think she's a fair bit older than me, she has 7 and 8 year old boys, she came over from New Zealand 6 years ago, so knows what its like to not know anyone in a small town. She is taking Archie and I to the playgroup that she used to take her boys to on Friday morning. I am so appreciative as i am a quiet person who doens't open up to make friends easily, i need all the help and pushing i can get!
Sara- Jess slept through in her own bed at about 3 years old!! She was a shocker, didn't help that her biological father left when she was 2 1/2 either, she had a pretty unsettled start in life.
Erin was bad but nowhere near as bad as the other 2, she started sleeping through from about 7 months when she went into a cot in Jess' room.
Elissa- that is so nice of that lady, hope playgroup is fun.
Better shut down computer now we are about to have a thunderstorm :(
Hi all
Well I went to see that ABA lady yesterday. I didn't realise until I got there and we started talking that not only is she a volunteer for the ABA, but she is a CHN and Midwife too! When she said that I felt such immense relief. Finally I have help!!!
He was so unsettled yesterday, for my trip to Emerald (an hour away), I just couldn't console him.... I was so glad I left Lachlan with his father at the shop. I just couldn't have done both.
Anyway at my nail appt he put a big performance for his feed that when I got to see the ABA lady - sure enuf he was fine. Well kinda.... He lached on fine and was sucking for a good few minutes and then pulled off and wouldn't go back on. Now this the best he has done in a while (always the way), but..... she could then see how he protested to go back on and applauded me for not forcing him and showed me some different positions too. Now when I sat him up, omg was he upset. She could see if was in a terrible amount of pain and said it has to be reflux.
I think because of how severe Lachlan was, I continually doubt myself that we are there again. Having her confirm that I am not going crazy took a huge amount of pressure off my shoulders. The support she gave me was amazing and right when I was needing it too. She told me I am doing a wonderful job and the way I am handling his feeding is comendable. I have developed the attitude lately that I will not force him to the boob, and she said that is def the way to be atm, as I don't want to scare him off it.
Now she said we should definitely ditch the zantac and go onto Losec.
So I rang my paed today (she is very aquainted with us because of Lachlan's history), and she faxed thru a script to Bundaberg so we can have the suspension sent to us in two parts. Impossible to get it here cold where we live. We use to live in Bundy/Gin gin area, so knew the chemist as he regularly filled our Losec scripts for Lachlan and when we moved here had him do the same (ie: send it in two parts, so that we could mix and then put in the fridge).
The ABA lady suggested that I go off dairy, but the paed said just to give the Losec two weeks and then we will decide if that is the next step or not. Otherwise we won't know what is working or not!
So feeling so much more at ease today, knowing full well I have support around me if I need it.
Just never thought we would be going down this road again, but hopefully it is shortlived. Lachlan wasn't off Reflux meds until 18mths, I am hoping Riley comes good alot sooner then that. Here's hoping.
Sorry about the me posts lately, just been so overwhelmed with this feeding and it has been getting me down. Hopefully we are now on the right track and I can start chatting to you girls again real soon.
Thanks for your support. Sometimes I wonder what I would do without my internet buddies.
Sheree- so glad you got to see a supportive person. You are doing a great job, look how big and healthy Riley is because of it. Hopefully the Losec will help, I know DH is a mess even if he misses one day of it so I can only imagine what it must be like for a little baby.
Bummer you ar so isolated there, it must be very difficult. I thought Emerald was small when we were there LOL Where my cousin lived at Middlemount was like the ends of the earth!
When did you go to Emerald and Middlemount.? You have to drive past Tieri from Emerald to get to Middlemount. Yeah it sux being isolated at times, but mainly due to no family support or medical services and who am I kidding the Shopping. But as long as we are all together as a family that is all that matters.
On our way to Darwin in 1999. My cousin and his wife spent 2 years in Middlemount.
Ohhh lucky them hehe.
The housing in Tieri Is much better then Middlemount.
sheree - s sorry that Riley needs Losec! But its great that you have such a supportive lady to help you out, at least now that you know whats wrong with Riley you can help him feel better. You should be SO proud of yourself in the way that you have handled the feeding, you are doing an awesome job!!
I am cluck cluck clucking atm!
Archie being a pain in the butt with his sleeping. Think i will put him back in his own room today, don't reckon his teeth are annoying him anymore.
Hi everyone and have a good weekend
Hi everyone again. Hope you all HAD a great weekend.
I'm baaack!!
FINALLY got an internet connection sorted out.
House is great, AND isn't so back on the happy pills.......
Darcy's TTed (YAY!!!)hmmmm what have I missed with all of you?
*Riley still doesn't sleep properly and may never be toilet trained.
* Jess seems to have broken up with her boyfriend but she still sees him so who knows.
*DH and I nearly split up but sorted it out.
*Erin is great.
* 8 weeks more of school.
Thats me in a nutshell LOL
Good to see you back Kim - and yay for Darcy being TTed
I am still working - worse luck.
Have just submitted my second assignment for TAFE and have fingers crossed for another high dist.
Katy may never get tted (more on that later)
no BFP yet - but still trying
Still on a diet - will be forever I think.
Now I need some advice.
I had friday and yesterday off work - and yesterday was so hot so I thought I would pick missy up early and take her swimming.
Katy's carers seemed to be in shock when I arrived (only one hr early - being 3pm).
As soon as I walked in they say, we are just taking Katy to the toilet. Fine I thought.
One of the other kids was throwing a tantrum, so I offered to take her myself.
Well..... When I got to where she was on the toilet I noticed that she was wearing the same wiggles pull up that I had put on her at 6:30 am that morning. What the? It was saturated. Totally. That's 7 hours in the same 'undies'.
A couple of times recently I have noticed that the same amount of pull ups are in her school bag when I pick her up as when I have dropped her off.
I really don't want to be a 'oh no here's comes Kaitlyn's mother' mother, but what am I to do?
SPEAK TO THE DIRECTOR!!!! That's appalling!!!!!! OMG I wouldn't have been abale to contain myself.
Oooh I hope you get a HD too! That is fantastic! Hang in there with the other stuff.
Christine, wow babe some drama there... to you too. Darcy doesn't sleep either....
Welcome back Kim! How is the new house?
Us in a nutshell
*TT'ing has started, stopped, and kind of started again...not in any rush as we were waiting for summer anyway
*Ashlea is going great with BF'ing, she has her off days but generally going great.
*Can't take Jayden shopping, he is getting too naughty with running away
*Chris is helping out a bit more but still needs to be reminded
* We are going to Melbourne tomorrow for 11 days, Ashlea's 1st flight and I am excited!!
* We are TTC #3 now..............Nah just kidding....I'm cured of wanting a 3rd at this stage
I think thats about it for us
Leanne: I was going to say could they have been using their own nappies on her during the day but if Kaitlyn was saturated when you got their, she obviously hasn't been changed. Jayden would be leaking after 7hrs though. I'd be talking to the director too, maybe just say your a little concerned at this stage and if it continues then go off at them.
Christine:  for you!
Well I'm off, I'm still sick (not too bad now but its annoying), got a headache, SOOO tired and I still have to pack all of our bags, except for Chris's he can do his own haha
How exciting Kim in your new house. Must be sooo nice.
US
- Lachlan is waking 3 times a night atleast
- not even close to being TT'd
- speaking alot more, starting to string together sentences and much clearer for his standards
- eating is alway UP and DOWN - nothing unusual there
- loves his brother when he makes time - normally just wayyyyy tooooo busy!
- seeing an ENT next week with his perferated ear drum
- Riley has been diagnosed with reflux - feeding gone awful (breast refusal - cries at my breast and suckles for 1-2 minutes if I am lucky), won't take to the bottle, trying him on solids (with no gr8 success), was on Zantac (couldn't get him to take it and spat it out and wasn't working), we are now on Losec (fingers crossed it works)
- Saw an ABA lady last week for some help and hope to see a lactation consultant when in Mackay next week
- I got mastitus a couple of weeks ago
- Tired as Riley is not as content (due to bad feeding and waking thru the night)
- Business is going well (we got Lorna Jane in our shop now, ohhh and Ben Sherman, hoping to get Quiksilver too)
- Tomorrow is the anniversary of that ripper Storm we had last year. No way near as hot as last year, so looking back at it, you could tell something was brewing!
- Wade wellll he is always good :wall:
- ohhh and Riley is rolling everywhere
Oohhhhh looks like lots is happening with us, looking back at this post hehe
How is your pregnancy going? Hope you are well. Yay on Darcy's TT, what an achievement. Good work.
A question for anyone who wants to answer - Has anyone taken their toddler to a dentist yet. I am sure I read from 2 years of age, but rang a child dentist and she doesn't take them until 4. Not that I have any concerns, just want to get acquainted really. I don't think he would let anyone look in his mouth anyways. What is everyone else doing in this regard?
Have a gr8 trip Tania, look 4ward to seeing you in December.
I think Erin was about 3 or 4 when she went to the dentist for the first time Sheree. They just get them used to the chair and the look of the place then not do anything much so they don't get frightened.
Leanne- I would say something, thats bullst!
well I phoned the centre today cause noone is really there when I get there after work, and voiced my opinion. used the words I am really disappointed in every sentence.
Will see what happens - meeting with director if no better by the end of the week
kim - YAY!!! So great to see you here again! We have missed you, i was very excited to see your pregnant avatar, and very jealous to see that Darcy is toilet trained! Here is us in a nutshell:
*Im still on happy pills, but really clucky and wanting to start weaning soon, but too scared to...
*Archie knows exactly how to use the toilet and hold on and all that, however he will only 'perform' for chocolate and event hen, he does a littel bit of wee every 5 mins so he can get more smarties, he is too smart for me, so is back in nappies, as he requested.
*Archie has been getting his molars through and has had awful sleeping habits the last fortnight, he screamed himself to sleep tonight and i feel guilty
tania - have a great trip, hope Ashlea enjoys her first flight!
Archie did something so funny today. There is that Kleenex ad with the little boy and the labrador puppy playing with a roll of toilet paper, and the song in the background is "so so soft, so so soft, ah ah ahhhh". Well we were all in the lounge and the ad comes on and Archie starts singing to it, only his words were "socks on dog, socks on dog, ah ah ahhh" Oh gosh i am still laughing about it!
Sheree: A guy at work has just taken his daughter who is 2 days older than Lachie to the denist but she had plaque build up cause they use some natural toothpaste without floride in it. Its not a bad idea to take him just to get used to it. I might think about it within the next 6-12mths I think. Can't wait to see you guys and meet baby Riley!!
Leanne: Well done!
Elissa: PMSL!! That is sooo funny!! I love the things kids say! Jayden is singing My humps a bit better now and he is learning Eminem "Lose It" now, its so funny except we can't get in the car now without listening to My Humps 2 or 3 times!
Hey just thinking ahead a bit, would anyone be interested in a secret santa type thing for xmas? We could make it a $5 or $10 limit for the kids? Just a thought.
I'll still be around for the next 11 days that we are in Melb as Chris has his iphone, not sure how often I will be able to post though as we have so many ppl to see!
I love the idea of a secret santa between us. Erin is in the BB one but she just wants to get Darcy LOL
tania - i love the secret santa idea. LOL at Jayden singing My HUmps!!
Arch and I just cooked up a batch of white choc and raspberry muffins mmmmmmmm.
I am taking Archie away to my family reunion in country victoria on the weekend. Unfortunately Jay has to work. We have the reunion at the same spot each year adn its awesome. We laso have a game of cricket between my Pa's family and my Great Uncles family, there is a trophy that goes to the winning family for the year. Last year our side of the family lost the game by 1 run due to cheating and bad scoring, so lookout this year, we have even got people to bring their friends who are good cricketers LOL.
Have a top trip Tania!
What a lovely weekend Elissa! Lol at him requesting nappies though. Darc does if she's tired too. Hmmmm yummy muffinss.
Leanne, I so hope they improve on the nappy thing....yuck. Don't think of yourself as the annoying mother - you're improving theiir service for other kids!
Those of your who are on meds...did they make you fel horrendous for the first whiel? I feel good in myself, but annoyingly nauseas....
Ooh and I haven't put on any weight!!!...lol may have to do with the fact that I haven't felt like eating in a while....
kim - as in meds, im guessing you mean ADs? If so, i had shocking diahorrea for the first week, not painful though, and headaches and nausea for a couple of weeks. The meds really kicked in after 3 weeks of taking them. Cause of the dahorrea i lost a few kilos at the start, but in the last month i have started stacking it on unfortunately. I have also started on a different pill though, so that could be the culprit. What meds are you on? I am sorry that you have had to go back on them, but good on you for knowing how to help yourself. Hope you are feeling great very soon x
A friend of Jays stayed at our place last night. This morning at breakfast the friend was making silly faces at Archie, Arch turns to him and says "You're a d!ckhead". Out of the mouths of babes hey! Couldn't argue with him really, he was acting like a d!ckhead LOL
I feel really sick if I miss a couple Kim but didn't feel sick when I first started (I don't think LOL)
Elissa - how funny is Archie, gosh he is a little character. Is Archie only just getting his molars? I was surprised how early lachlan started to get his, seeing as he was such a late teether. But his 2 year old ones came nearly spot on 2, well I know he has two of em, can never look in these days to see about the other 2. Boy did he has wet sloppy poos from them though!
Kim - did I miss something, what you on meds for???
I rang the child dentist and they only take them from 4 years of age. I am sure I read 2 though somewhere..... not that I am worried, cause I don't think lachlan would open his mouth for anyone, he won't let me go near his mouth, brushing his teeth is a huge struggle. I more just wanted him to go to get aquainted and all that!
I know when I was on my meds I felt a little nauseous at first, but then felt great.
I have been off them now for about 4 months, am taking HUGE amounts of fish oil, which helps most of the time. When I have my bad days I REALLY have bad days.
Now more on the nappy saga......
So I go to daycare tonight to pick up my little miss and the lady who was working the day of my 'complaint' was on.
She was in Katy's room cleaning up when I went to get her bag and she says to me 'you really upset me the other day with your terrible comments. How could you think that I would let your daughter walk around in a wet nappy all day?' She had been to the toilet about 5 times and her nappy was not that bad. Do you want me to change it every time it is a little wet?
I did not know what to say.
So I said ... I did not mean to upset anyone, but I was the one disappointed (see I used that word again... how good am I!!) It's a little hard to know what happens in Katy's day. By the time I get here to pick her up all of her teachers have pretty much gone home, and there are no notes sent home or even a record of her TT'ing on her daysheet so what do you expect a mother to think?
I am so proud of myself.
I am in the middle of baking gingerbread cookies for work on Friday. I have organised a pink casual day for breast cancer month, so I am making them all iced pink!
Nite nite all
Well done Leanne!! What a cow that woman sounds!! I can't believe she would have a go at you like that, we would be shot if we said somehting like that to a parent.
Sheree - anti-anxiety meds. Aropax to be exact for the AND.
Darcy got her 2yo molars at 11 months and is now get teeth 17-20 (ie 4yo molars). So I guess the range is huge. Not bad for someone who didn't get a single tooth until 10mo.
Good girl Leanne! Pooey to her getting upset - yes she should change it - would she like to walk around in wet pants all day - maybe you should send reall undies then they's be forced to change her if an accident happened.
Kim have you only developed the anxiety whilst being pregnant???
I didn't know there were 4 year old molars?????? Lachlan didn't get a single tooth till 9mths either.
Leanne - good job for saying something, she was definitely trying to cover up something with the way she attacked you. And geez she shouldn't have done that anyways.
:O) to everyone
quick flying hello from me
Ryan is well and truly cheeky he just doesn't shut up now chatter all the time tonight at the dinner table when i asked him to be quiet and eat he ignored me i raised my voice and he nearly dirtied himself then starting crying tell his dad that mummy hurt me over and over then said daddy, mummy hurt me she yelled at me. that is the longest sentence he has strung to gether and it is lovely to finally hear him talking but enough is enough when you just want dinner over with lol he still hasn't come near me yet i better go make peace before bed.
i have been extremely ill for the past week lost 3 kg ( excellent diets illness is ) i think i am finally on the mend though i am still as deaf as anything i had both earsd infected and a sinus plate infection they put me on anti biotics that i was allergic too so i t was not a very good time at all any way i came in to tell you all that i have final exams all next week and the one after that so i'll definately be MIA just remember thinking of you all

Leanne  well done on saying something there is no way i would stand for that i would have thrown the biggest hissy fit you did well
any one i have missed sorry hope you all stay well and healthy and i'll be back soon
Shazz
sheree - yep i hear ya on the runny poos! 1 of his molars must have really been on the move last night, he was bawling cause his ear was sore, im thinking it was referred pain from his tooth.
leanne - well done for sticking up for youself, you handled it really well.
kim - i am ion Aropax too, hope it works as well for you as it has for me. WOW at Darcy's speedy teething!!
shazz - what an awful weeks you had! GL with your exams, you'll blitz em!
Had a fantastic time at the reunion, Arch loved playing with all the other little boys, there are so many of them! We won the annual game of cricket, and i was a bit of a star, who'd have thought! We are off to Adeliade for 2 weeks today, so talk to you all when i get back
Have a great time in Adelaide Elissa, fantastic about the cricket too!!
Riley had a shocking night last night not sure why but I am wrecked this morning.
Tomorrow DD is 17!!! I have organised some of her girlfriends to go for pizza tonight as a surprise. She knows somehting is up cause her silly friend let something slip but she has no idea when or where or who so hopefully she will be a bit surprised. She thinks she is going over to a friend's tonight and I am driving her so on the way we will drop into the pizza place to order my dinner so she has to go in.
I cannot believe I have been a mother for 17 years!! You'd think I'd be better at it by now LOL
Sorry quick fleeting visit from me.
I got to sleep at 6am this morning and slept till 9am.
Wade had organised the morning off work anyway so that he could pack us up. I was meant to be leaving for mackay today (3 hours away) for the boys specialist appts but I have had a severe reaction/allergy to something and my eye has been festering for the past couple of days now, but last night it was really bad. So red and swollen, and stinging. I have been itchy all down the right side of my face. Right scalp, eyebrow, eye. Just couldn't stop itchy. So had a horrible night and took an antihistamine at 8pm after Riley's feed, and the chemist told me to not feed him for atleast 4 hours. But he woke at 11am, so Waded patted him back to sleep and then he woke at 11.30pm but must have self settled as we didn't hear him until 5.30am this morning. At this point my nose had been running all night like a tap and my throat was sore, my gaw was sore and I felt like my head was going to explode. Lachlan didn't even wake last night, so there was my chance to catch up on some sleep (cause Riley has been waking 3 hourly at night for feeds lately) and I didn't get it as I was in so much pain. Lachlan was ferral last night and wouldn't eat dinner, so we sent him to bed crying his little heart out, with no dinner, no bath. I was hoping he was not getting sick too, but appears fine this morning, thank god. I just couldn't possibly do the drive now with this eye. We travelled 40min this morning to an after hours doctor who has now given me antibiotics and a eye cream and also I have to take a anithistamine once a day. Hopefully I will be on the mend soon. I was so annoyed, cause Riley hasn't fed since 8pm last night and I had the opportunity to feed him before he properly woke up this morning at 5.30am, only I was exhausted and asked Wade to bring him to me and I attempted to feed whilst laying down. Well this woke up the little sod and he wouldn't feed. I knew I should have gone into his room and rocked him in the chair to feed. ARggghh... I was so tired to think. So it is now 12.30pm and he stil hasn't fed, I sooo struggle with him with feeds thru the day, no wonder he feeds so much thru the night and no wonder I am not well, just soooo run down! Anyway hope to do my trip to Mackay tomorrow, only have to cancel my lactation appt for tomorrow and try to make it for the following Monday now. So glad it is Sunday, so Wade is here to look after the boys. Anyway if you don't hear from me after this post I will talk to you all in a week. Oh and when the doctor looked down my throat, she could see a foreign matter that shouldn't be there. So now I have to see an ENT specialist too. The one Lachlan is seeing is a child ENT, but she has done me a referral and she said surely he will just have a quick look down your throat. Hoping it is nothing sinister.
I am confused.
I am no longer on my PND meds, but my PMS mood is so so bad I am so depressed I just want to run away and vanish.
Is that normal... and can I do anything about it? Does anyone else feel like this.
The only upside I can see is that it has happened for the second month in a row on CD21 - so it could mean my cycles may be becomming 'normal'
christine - happy birthday to Jess! 17 years of mothering just makes me feel exhausted!!
sheree - goodness me Sheree you poor chook! I am hoping your throat is nothing to worry about. Hope Riley's night feeding settles soon for you, you are an absolute champion for pushing through all of this and still feeding, i know that i wasn't and wouldn't be that strong, so well done hun.
leanne - even on my meds my PMS is shocking, i am always yelling at Archie, i feel like I want to divorce Jay, its really awful. I hope this means your cycles are settling
Sounds like Archie just finally gave in adn went to sleep, he's been in there hysterically crying, trying to get his own way, at the moment im really not enjoying toddlerhood.
