Babies Born May 2006 #54

Hi girls!

Massive hugs to you Leanne. Adjusting to 2 littlies is hard enough let alone all the other stuff that your having to deal with. As for sizing, Colby was born 9lbs 7oz and is quite small in her build now. I have noticed that a lot with babies that are born big. Don't let other peoples insenstivity get to you hun. There is nothing wrong with your little man. He's perfect in every way.

Well the trip up north went pretty well. B and I managed to get along quite well. The girls have changed soooo much in 5 weeks. Both are sleeping through the night in just knickers thanks the B's hard work and persistance. I was a bit sad to leave the girls but confident that I can handle it also. I have a webcam now so we chat on that everynight and the girls are very happy that they can see me.

I was supposed to start prac on Monday but have been sick again!!! I was going to go in tonight and they didnt want me to cause I still have a cough. I am worried I will have to repeat it now!!

Not much else to report. Had a paying Doula client this wk so went and treated myself to some retail therapy yesterday.

Kim I can only speak of our experience from dropping Katy's days from 5 to 1 per week. She struggled at first being home with me (and was so naughty) and now she really looks forward to seeing her friends on Mondays (as do I look forward to my 'sanity day'). Daycare has been 'the norm' for her since she was 9 months old and dropping days affected her just as much if not more than it did us. So IMO, if you can afford to drop Darcy's days gradually rather than go 'cold turkey' it might affect her less IYKWIM? Katy's going one day per week to the end of the year and that's it. And then if she really misses it will try to put her in a 'preschool' early next year. Kids really love the social interaction with other children at this age. It's hard when finances are involved, as that usually plays a huge part in weighing up what to do. At the end of the day, I am sure you will make the right decision. :hugs:

Man I ramble. Can you tell I am missing adult conversation / interation ?

I think in the long run she will be fine Kim, its better for her to be with you really (says the bad mother who works FT :( ) Can you go back to nursing?? Aren't they desperate for nurses??
I am really lucky that even though I have to work FT its in a job I adore and I wouldn't want to be doing anything else (except maybe kept woman!)
Leanne- hugs again about people's comments, stuff em we all know he's perfect, so what if other people have judgement issues!
Sara- so glad you got to spend time with your girls, can I send Riley up to be TT????????

kim - hope you get over the swine flu quick smart x It wont be detrimental to Darcy to take her out of CC, she will love spending extra time at home, might take a little adjusting but wont be detrimental.

sara - so glad things are great with you, WOW at the girls both sleeping in undies!!!! How did Brent do that?

Looks like XH is the 'fun' parent...the whole time he has him, he buys him things, takes him to play cafe, and feeds him junk. GRRRRR I HATE THIS STUPID SITUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!

I alwyas said you should be allowed to kill your ex when you break up!!

yep Christine, I often think about how much nicer and easier my life would be if XH disappeared...Arch would be devastated though :(

I had a pap smear today and the nurse that did it asked me about my husband....quite funny when I think about it now, she is down there at the business end and her ad I are *****ing about how pathetic my XH is LOL!

I don't get people (DH) sometimes. We are supposed to be at our nephew's firwst birthday party in 10 minutes, and I went back to bed at 9 and said wake me in an hour. Two hours later he wakes me.
Now I am all stressed out cause noone is organised and he tells me off for getting stressed about not having time to get organised. grrrr.
Man I love sleep deprivation and what it does to a couple. I should just chill out and get there late and blame it on the baby right?

Yes definitely, anyone with kids will understand! At least he let you sleep!!

lol Leanne, I hope you stopped stressing and were just late....kudos to Mark for letting you sleep. Cam wouldn't.

I have cut her days down from three to two, but might go down to one as well. Preschool isn't really an option here. There are only 2 and they have extraordinarily long waiting lists, so if I take her out that's it. Though we're thinking she'll start school in 2011 anyway so it would only be 12 months without.
Christine....probably not. :( Nate's just so bad in the car. I will definitley be there in the chrissie holidays though as Cam has 5 months off....

We turned up late..... Only by an hour! :)

Not much to report here. Had gastro yesterday (yuk) and Josh's been a bit unsettled with wind pain - paed thinks lactose intolerance so we are trying a different formula. So far so good.

Just cleaned up my desk (it took a couple of hours! - kept getting sidetracked!). Have prac experience for my course at the end of the month as semester ends mid Nov so need to start revising so it looks like I sorta know what I am doing when I get there. Just trying to find someone to look after the kids is proving to be a little difficult. And I have not touched a book since dad passed away in May, so there's A LOT to revise... Sigh.

Anyway, that's it for me.

ETA just re read the last posts...are you tired cos you're on prac? Is it good? Did you find someone for the kids? Because if you haven't and it's not this week can I offer any help?

Man is it a full moon? She's outdone herself today. Is it too early for PMS cos she's been in a foul mood today.

However finally after 3 and a half years - we've gotten rid of the dummies!!!! We gave them to the dummy fairy to give to the sick babies at the hospital :D She's only snuck Nates a couple of time in the 5 nights we've been withuout so that's pretty good eh? I thought it'd be so hard, and vreally it was quite easy. She was complicit and everything.

Well our little man has been officially diagnosed with reflux and is on losec. Hopefully this will decrease the hour or so of uncontrollable crying about 2 1/2 hours after a feed (fingers crossed).
Hopefully it will also stop some of the advice coming our way about how I should be feeding him more cause he is a big bub and that's the only problem, and nothing else. Grrr. He's putting on close to 300g per week, I think he's getting enough! Grr at people and their 'advice'

Poor little Joshy also mild conjunctivitis / blocked tear duct, so have some drops for that if washing it with saline does not do the trick.

It's like having Kaitlyn all over again. Sigh

I'm starting to feel down and doubt myself as a mother - need to focus on the positives. Don't really want to go down the PND road again.

My prac is next week Tues to Friday and I am so not prepared. I just either can't find the motivation, the time, nor the energy to read and prepare. I spoke to my teacher today on the phone and she said just go and enjoy it, you will be fine... So that's what I am going to try to do.

Leanne, I really hope you're enjoying your week. Glad you have a plan for Josh. Nate has 'gooey' eyes too. The drops helped for a bit, but it keeps coming back. Going to wait until he's 1 and then see about it.

We've booked ourselves a little Lindeman Island holiday n the weeks beofre Chrissie, so we will be in Sydney for the whole weekend and the Friday preceeding Chrissie if you guys are keen to meet?

OMG the Little Guy is crawling like a legend...but he can climb and coast and he thinks he can walk!! He just lets go! He's only 8months old. I'm so not ready for this again.

I decided to drop Darcy's days to 1 a week and see about pre-school.
Will be a bit awol as I'm trying to sort out my messy life and house atm....

KIm - WOW! I just cant believe Nate is 8 months already, and trying to walk! Sorry to hear about Darcy's PMS LOL. Arch has quite the teenage attitude when he wants to as well. I am very jealous of you little holiday, have a ball :)

Leanne - hope your prac goes well hun, just relax and have some fun watching the kids learn. Really sux about Joshy's reflux, totally been there, if reflux doesnt' have you questioning your mothering skills, nothing will. Be kind to yourself, you are a wonderful mummy to your gorgeous babies.

Jay and I are back together...After all the heartbreak I went through, he finally realised that he does want his family and there is nothing mroe important. It feels like I have got back the man I married :) He is a different person. I was VERY dubious at first, thinking it was all an act, but no, he really has changed, admitted all his wrongs and apologised blah blah blah. So the 3 of us are a happy family again :)

DH wants more kids, but the funny thing is after all this time of wanting more kids and him saying no, now I dont want another baby! Am going to get Mirena put in for a few years while we grow together as a couple and sort out if another child is really right for us.

Wish my luck, Archie is going to be forced to sleep in his own bed from now on, should be a rough few nights.

Arch is starting Kindy in July next year and I am really looing forward to it, I think he will thrive there.
