Hello!
I was just wondering if I could join your thread?? Mackenzie was born right at the beginning of June .. but was due in May. Hope this is ok...
Jen
Kristen - Mia is sooooo gorgeous!!! At least with saying dada she can call to him in the middle of the night and not to you!!! :)
Jen - welcome to you and Mackenzie!! What a beautiful name :)
 Lee - that hilarious - I love it ! Now off to teach Iz to say it too....... ;)
Jen - Welome to our group!! This is great lots of new May mummies!! If you are in Melbourne we are having a May Mummies meet upand it would be lovely to meet you!! Will let you know the details when I remember them myself - going to search Kristens posts now!!
First off, Dan - reading your vent was like re-living the past 5months!! Ahh. I couldn't even believe how spot on it is to Me and Liam. He is EXACTLY the same, trust me. First it was the x-box, but he has now bought a PS3, so he is ALWAYS on that. Grrr. And theres no point asking him to watch Khai, because if i ask for a little 'Me' time, he says "What am i supposed to do?" ARGH! Selfish bastard. And if he does watch Khai while i have a rest, it doesn't happen because he just puts Khai on the floor for "Tummy Time" or sits him in his bouncer in front of the TV. And if he starts squeeling because he is bored, he just puts him in his cot, which is right next to our room. Haha, sorry that that just turned into my vent!
Jen - Hey :) Hopefully we get to chat more soon. I don't get to come online as often as id like, but i try! Mackenzie is gorgeous!!
Kristen - Wow! Mia seems so advanced! :) Khai's not upto that stage yet, he looooves standing, but theres no way he can balance himself to sit alone yet. He just falls forward!
Sorry for the quick one..he's woken!! Ahh.
Welcome Jen. Nice to have more new mummies like Tan said.
Selfish post from me this morning. I'm sooooooooooooooooooo tired and starting to struggle coping. Izzy is truly amazing, but this morning she woke up at 5am and I just knew she was going to be awake for the day from then. So my day started with her bawling when I tried to put her back to bed after a feed, and me bawling because I was just too tired to deal with it. She eventually went back to bed after a couple of hours of play so I went back to bed, and burst into tears as soon as my head hit the pillow. Fortunately DH picked up that I was pretty upset and rundown (wonder what gave it away!?!) so he let me sleep until 11am. It was great to get a bit of a rest, but its not going to pay the mortgage if he's looking after Izzy rather than working. I'm really starting to worry how I'm going to cope with Izzy as we both get bigger - how will I cope carrying a heavier baby up and down stairs 10 times a day when I can't see the floor anymore? How will I have those beautiful cuddles on my lap when my lap disappears? How do I put her down in her cot when she's been asleep in my arms if I can't get my huge belly over the side rail of the cot? Sorry to whinge guys - its just all getting to me at the moment.
On the positive side my little girl has obviously decided sitting up on her own is just far too boring to even bother with - she is holding onto things and standing on her own instead!! She hasn't managed to pull herself up yet - has to get stood on her feet but then she grabs hold of something and she's on her own. Time to start toddler proofing the house!!
Quick one here - just wanted to say :hugs: Lulu - you will be fine hun, we women are amazing at what we cope with. You will cope with it hun, you will carry her on your growing belly, you will have cuddles around and on your belly like you and DH did before Iz was born, she will learn to kiss and cuddle it as she gets a bit bigger, and you can climb the stairs on your bot to make sure you dont fall down when you are huge! ;) Seriously though hun it will be hard as you get bigger and it will be tough when you have Ned and Izzy but you will love them both soooo much and you wont want it any other way hun and they will be the best of friends. I can understand why you are feeling like this and you can whinge all you like whenever you like:hug:
Wow this is an effort catching up on everyones posts! But I think I'm done! Just thought I'd tell you all a bit about me since I feel like I know you all now after reading so many posts!
My name is Jen and my DH is Sean. We have an almost 5 month old baby girl called Mackenzie(OMG i can't write newborn anymore :( I am hopeless at typing and always have trouble typing what I mean to say, so sorry in advance for sometimes making spelling errors and bad grammar!
We will TTC again soon and putting in an order for a boy, although I would LOVE another girl , but DH would to try for a son if you girls know of any tricks (iykwim) to increase our chances I'd be interested in hearing them! Don't get me wrong I won't be disappointed with a girl and to be honest having a boy would be so strange because I'm so used to having girls!
This thread seems like a very freindly and chatty place so I look forward to getting to know everyone !
sezjm: I have been *demand* caring for Kenzie since she was born and heaven knows I have had a lot of comments like "your making a rod for your own back ... your spoiling her ... you'll regret this bleh bleh" If shes hungry I feed her sometimes it will be every 30 minutes then she'll go 5-6 hours without it. She loves her mummy boobie sometimes just for comfort not necessarily for a drink iykwim. I never leave her crying and I have co slept with her since birth .. although now she is transitioning to her own cot and loving it .. she has *just taken a dummy which helps alot. So I think what your doing with Nicholas (who is just gorgous btw) is fantastic and will nurture the close bond between you two!
Dan: I had a look at your gallery and I just love the one of Olivia sitting on the couch grinning from ear to ear. She looks like a very happy bubba. I also noticed you have a jolly jumper .. how is it attached to the ceiling? Is it safe and secure? I'd love to get Kenzie one for chirstmas. My DH and your DH would probably get along like a house on fire ... well if they got off the computer that is! My DH's routine: work .. come home ... sit on computer playing games usually WOW and talking over the head set thing ... getting off when I call him for dinner ... eat while playing with laptop in lounge ... back to computer ... ask if im interested in sex ... goes to bed ... get up go to work. IT DRIVES ME NUTS! I actually did say something to him and he now spends some time with Kenzie after dinner but sometimes I feel like my husband is having an affiar with the dam game!
Hayley: My thoughts are with you trying to overcome PND. I suffer from PND Anxiety. If you ever need a chat the BB forums are a great place to turn to. I have has heaps of support here and also to take your mind off life and have some "me" time. I don't know how you manage being away from your DS, it must be reallllly difficult :( Good on you for getting to the gym! That has been on my too do list for 10 years LOL. How slack am I.
Lulu: Thanks for th warm welcome and ~wow~ I just noticed your pregnant again! Are you b/f? We are TTC asap but AF is no where in sight :/ Congratulations! Mackenzie is also enjoying kicking in her little summer outfits, she is no where near as grizzly as she used to be, I don't think she liked having her feet in the all in one suits .. but thats just a guess :) Great news about the scan that is a fantastic result for the Downs ratio, I remember having all these tests done ... it seems so long ago now!
Danni: Danni poor little Mason. Is he still sick with a cold? Have you tried putting a vapouriser in the room to help him breath at night?
Ashlee: Congrats on blakes 6 month birthday!! On Kenzies I think we'll celebrate with some nice cheesecake! Any excuse :)
Tan: Izzys photos in your gallery are just beautiful! I love the black and whites. Not sure if Izzy is sleeping better now but I read that she "startles" in her sleep then wakes up? Mackenzie used to do that too (and still does) I ended up wrapping her with her arms out. That fixed the problem for us! Also when I wrap her just a cotton one at the moment, it sends the message that its bed time! What on earth is Tweddle!?!?
Kristen: I had a sticky beak at Mia's Website and it is just BEAUTIFUL! What a precious keepsake to have as she grows up. The photos are just brilliant, you can really tell they are taken by someone who knows what they are doing. Are you a photographer?
Kelly: I really can sympathise with the sleeping through the night issue. On average Kenzie gets up for a feed 4-5 times a night! I am so lucky to be a SAHM so I can get some sleep during the day. She just hasn't got the idea that when its night it sleep time .. she almost 5 months and I'm still waiting - just getting up once would be nice! Luke looks like he could be the identical twin of a little boy I looked after when I was working in child care .. very freaky!
Lee: Hello! Thank you for the welcome! You little ethyn is only 5 days older than my Kenzie! They do grow up soooo quickly its rather scary ... enjoy every second! I have a Nappy bag I got from a baby shop, its an espirit one lots of compartment etc etc tbh I've never used it! I just usually through a nappy and wipes in my handbag .. one of these day I'm going to get caught out with a magapoo and need spare clothes .. so I should get organised huh!
Michelle: I'm with you on the glass of wine! I so miss my red wine :(
Jane:Hi Jane .. I love the name Ella! It was on the short list for our DD, but I wanted Taylah for a middle name and Ella Taylah was a little too rhyming for my DH's (very picky) taste. Hmm anyway! Ella sounds like a delightful little girl, it very cute listening to the babbles isnt it? Is she feeling better now and over her cold?
Jan: Julian sounds like he is in a great night time routine. Kenzie is so random I never know when she is going to wake up!
Aniejade: Thanks for welcoming me! I voted for Khai (gorgous name btw .. if we have a boy next I'll metion this to DH! I also don't mind Khya) I hope you win!!
Hello!!
Jen - Wow, I'm so impressed by your post, I can hardly keep up in here atm!!! Doesn't help that I've been really busy out and about again lately!! Anyway, it's great to have a few new people join our wonderful group!!! The more the merrier I think, just don't expect me to be able to keep up and do personals all the time - LOL!!!
Lulu - Oh hun, please try not to worry, you'll be fine - I just know it. As Tan said, our bodies are amazing and I'm sure all those wonderful hormones will settle down and help you get through everything!! Try and just take each day as it comes and remember how quickly it goes??? Big hugs to you and you know we are all here for you (and I'm physically in the same town, so if I can do anything to help, please let me know - and I really mean that)!!!
Kristen - OMG, Mia is soooo cleaver - I can't believe it. Luke is almost sitting up too but he's nowhere near saying any words!!!! How wonderful!!
Sorry, but I can't handle any more personals, I'm really tired again today too. The last few nights Luke has decided to wake at 2.55am excactly - sooo strange. Anyway from then, it's a real struggle to settle him. He doesn't appear to be hungry and is pretty much asleep but then starts crying again for no reason. I'm wondering if its the start of teething for him?? He seems much happier when I pick him up and will fall back asleep but as soon as I put him down, he squirms around again and just isn't happy!! I've been taking him back to bed with me to get an extra hour or so but I'm worried that he'll just start expecting that and keep doing it just to get in our bed with us, so I'm reluctant to keep going. Its just really weird. So this morning, I got him back to sleep until 4.15am and that was it. I was pretty much up from then. At about 6.30am DH bought him into our bed with us and I didn't feed him at 7am, so I'm sure he wasn't hungry!!
Not to worry, we'll get there. I think we're going to start solids tomorrow morning. Luke is soooo ready for it. I gave him a spoon to play with this morning and he was going nuts trying to eat it!!!! I've read that you should introduce the rice cereal after a feed in the morning but won't he already be full???? I guess not! And is it alright to start it first thing, so after the 7am feed??
Should be fun.
Kelly xxx
hey jen, where are you moving to in melb? Kristen is now a photographer and im sure she would love to take some pics for you!
Mason has a cough at the moment but he doesnt seem to be coughing over night though?
he has been in his JJ for almost an hour now and he has spewed 5 times. Oops! better go rescue him
Kelly - we started rice cereal yesterday -Izzy was doing the same thing! She swallowed about a 1/4 of a teaspoon spat out and gagged heaps but had great fun!! I gave it to her after her feed and made it relaxed and fun! Videoed it for Al as he misses out poor boy :) She held the spoon shoved it in her mouth and spat out the rice cereal and chewed on the spoon! Today she didnt swallow any and didnt let me put hardly any in her mouth so I just stopped. I figure by 6 mths she will be ready to really eat!! Im going to give her the cereal once a day for the next week. Then will go to twice a day and Im not introducing anything else until she is 6 mths!
Hope that helps hun! Hard to know what to do really!
Tan and Kelly - thanks so much girls. I know it will be ok - bit late now to worry about how to cope isn't it!!! I just hate the thought of missing out on time with Izzy. She's growing so fast and I just know I'm going to turn around one day and she'll be all grown up.
Kelly - naughty Luke for waking up. Good on you for starting solids. I've been toying with it too - bought some rice cereal a week ago but haven't got up to it yet. I gave Izzy some avocado the other day and she had a lovely time with it - never knew a single teeny piece of avocado could stretch so far!! She didn't eat much but I guess at this stage its as much about exploring food as eating it.
Tan - that sounds like a good start for Izzy on her cereal. I guess it will take a while for them to get the hang of it all. I'm actually looking forward to the 6 month stage so we can get started properly.
Jen - I stopped breastfeeding when Izzy was 13 weeks but never got AF. They're quite right when they say you ovulate first!!! Maybe when Kenzie starts on solids and you're not feeding quite as much AF will make a return?
Kelly, if you like, wait about 20-30 mins after Luke's morning feed so it's had a chance to settle....then he might be more interested IYKWIM? And yeah, you can feed him whatever time you like. He doesn't know that the rest of us eat cereal in the morning LOL!
I tried to start Nicky on solids last week as I thought he was really ready, but I guess not. I tried for three days with homemade rice cereal, and by the third day he really wasn't interested. I gave him a break for a few days then I tried him with some pumpkin yesterday, but again he just pushed it out, made faces and generally wasn't into it. I'll just try once a week or so until he seems keen.
Sez - Iz was like that today with the cereal! I figure I will try each day for a bit and leave it at that if she wants to play and swallow some - great! If not, then thats easier for me too because I have more time without having to prepare her meals
Hope you all well - will be back after I post my pram on ebay! Weeeee!!
Hi Everyone!
Has been a bit hard to keep up lately!! Everytime I get on there is a new page of posts!! Ok, I will attempt a quick go at personals while Angus is asleep!
Welcome Jen! Good Luck on trying for no. 3! It is possible to get a boy- we did, after 2 girls! The only thing diffrent we did when TTC for a boy was only dtd at ovulation. I brought ovulation testing kits and when it went pink which meant you were going to ovulate within 24hrs, we dtd, only once, then waited,... Apparently boys are faster swimmers and reach the eggs first!! Who knows, I think you have a 50 50 chance, so good luck!!! Was weird dealing with danglies though after 2 girls!! Oh, and no AF yet here, the girls were around 11/12 months when I got AF previously.
Tan, good luck selling the pram!! I have one to sell on e-bay also when I pull my finger out and get around to it! I had the whole seat/bassinette thing, annoyed the hell out of me so I brought a P&T so my 3 yr old can shop happily also!!
Kelly, I hope Luke settles down for you and sleeps some more!! Good luck with the solids. I have tried Angus the last 5 days or so, and I have to say he is a pig!! Loves anything that comes near his mouth. He had rice cereal the first few days, last night he had sweetcorn and ate so much I thought he would pop!! I feed him about 5/6pm cause thats when my milk seems to be at its lowest and he wants to feed more, so I thought we would start with a meal then! Also in the morning our house is a little crazy!!
Lulu - How are you feeling?? Hope the ms and tiredness eases up, nothing worse than wanting to sleep all day!!
AnieJade, i like the popart of Khai - is very cute. My vote has been added!! I have never seen anything like that before - very cool!!
Kristen, love the videos!! What a clever girl!! Mia is just adorable!! How is the business set up going??
Dan, hope evrything in your house is getting better!! My Dh is the same, although not as bad!! He is always on the PS2, thank god we dont have a PS3 yet!! But I have to admit I spend a fair amount of time on here and Facebook, so I cant complain too much!!!! But does give me the s*%ts when kids are screaming and dinner needs to be cooked and he is on the PS.
Oh, My boy is awake, so much for personals!! I have been trying to sort out washing and stuff all day, my DH has just come back form a business trip to China so his dirty washing is evrywhere!! Girls were excited to get lots of pressies, they both love hello kitty so got shirts and watches and stuff. All very cheap over there as either fakes or stolen!! I got 2 Louis Vuitton handbags and a purse and keyring and do you believe TEN watches!! What a dag, I gave some to my family and have kept 6 cause I liked them all!! Who needs 6 watches - but my DH has never brought me much jewellery so I cant complain!! Anyway, take care evryone!!
*Michelle*
