So good to hear from you Meredith. Was starting to get a little worried about you! 8 teeth WOW. Aston has just gotten his first. He is in the same boat as Logan, trying desperately hard to crawl, but only going backwards, and getting very cranky with it. I recently shut up the milk bar at night, and are now getting much better sleep, between 5-6hours consecutively, and he is settling quickly if he wakes. Only took about 3 days, for it to go from half an hour to go back to sleep, to less then a minute most of the time now. Thank god, because I was going a little bit mad!
Good to hear from you, look forward to hearing from you more, now that you are hopefully settled in.

Hello ladies well today was my exciting Sydney trip to meet my new niece Josephine Ellen and she is an absolute honey! I wish I was there for more than a few hours - stupid jetstar found a flat tyre just minutes before we took off and were delayed an hour aaaaarrrggghh! Should know better have vowed twice already never to fly them again but the fare was sooooo cheap! Daddy had Jake today and when he picked me p he was shattered!!! only had his shower when jake had his afternoon nap pmsl!!!!! Now he knows why some days he comes home and I am still in my pj's! My boobs are like 2 rockmelons just missing that one afternoon feed (he's dropped the am one again) and when jake saw me his face lit up and he held his arms out saying mumumumumu! oooh he is soo sweet!
Hi meredith noice to meet you!
Tara hope you are feeling better soon!
Vicky I am so glad you have your sanity back - are you going to the coast meet up?
AND we have cracked 11kgs! No wonder my back is so sore!
Off to bed for me 6am eercise class tmrw!
Take care and sorry about short personals - hope everyone else is coping with teeth / flus / rashes / feeding / sleeping!
What a lot we are!
-
Awww i wonder how much Chelsea weighs...?? We will find out next Tuesday at her MCHN check up! Im guessing maybe 8-9kg maximum.
-
man 11kg!!! wow sophie was 7.3kg at 8 months probably only 7.5 now!!!
i really think she is teething, she;s been cranky as today, cried tonight and she really doesnt cry at all!!! so inwith panadol and bonjella and hope tomorrow is better.
did our tax tonight i get around $2500!!!!DH $400, $600 tax benifit A and $500 tax benfite B cos we over extimated!!!!!! so were very happy indeed!!!
Me, well i have reduced my meds slowly and not liking it at all!!!!!! doing it very slowly but god i'm mightly moody tonight, brings back bad memories :( and to top it all off i think i have mastitis!!!! never ever had it!! boob is very sore so hopefully not infection just blocked duct
Got our new car tonight as well. it's been a very busy day here, sad to see the old one go!!
-
Oh AJP hugs hun. Mastitis is horrid. If you start feeling like you have been hit by a truck - fever, and general flu symptoms get yourself to the doctor. Lots of warm compresses, and heat in the shower, gentle massage of the area, and feed feed feed. If you can put sophie in the position where her chin is pointed towards the lump, and massage gently while feeding. Hope its ok. Try not to panic about how your feeling (says' she red faced!) draw on all those techinequies you have been using to relax.
Woohoo on the new car, and tax return. still have to do ours.
-
Nelly - I forgot to answer your question sorry. No - i wont be going, just a little too far, it would take me about 2hours to get there, and i'm too tired to drive 4 hour round trip in a day at the moment. Hope you have fun. I think I'm the only one north of Brisbane...
Had a shocker last night. Think those teeth are driving Aston mad, he was inconsolable, poor darlin. ended up getting the spare matteress and laying in his room wiht him attached to me. the best sleep he had was from 5.30 to 7.30 am. Absolutely shattered. going to go and lay down now....
-
Oh Vicky the same thing happened to us last night.
Ella woke up every 30mins and was just screaming with pain. I had already given her Bonjela and Nurofen so we just had to sit it out. I had her in my arms for most of the night and when she went back into her cot I lay down on the ground (sore back now) and had my hand on her leg. I'm at work today absolutely nackered!
Anyway when we got up she was sneezing and coughing and has a runny nose. I think she has a cold on top of her teething pain ---poor little thing.
I think we've got a couple of rough nights ahead of us.
Ann :(
-
sounds like our night - I'm not sure if there are more teeth but tried him without any doses of demazin, panadol, nurofen etc and he woke at 1 and didn't settle until about 4. poor sausage teeth are nasty things! That on top of my jetset day yday... sleep pls.... not possible with active boy.....
-
We had a good night... 8pm-9am!
Had to buy some 0 suits cos the 00 were bit figure hugging.... now these are to big and she has duck feet!!!
-
Im with u Nelly teeth are nasty!
we had a similar night here too, not much sleep last night up and down again, i gave in and Emelia was in our bed at 4am and didnt go back to sleep properly till 6am, im not feeling too good today, feeling quite sick.. really just want to go to bed but abit hard when Emelia not sleeping at all :(
hope tonights better for everyone
-
I want my boy back! Bugger the tooth friggin fairy, the tooth MONSTER has stolen our bubs! At least when I'm up in the night I will know that I'm not alone, somewhere in Qld, Sydney and WA there will be you Nelly, Ann, and Blanche... Aston is off food too, and has a streaming nose, and is just generally an unhappy little man. Bloody teeth.
-
 Vicky that was us last week and this week but today the garbage guts is back and demolishing anything in his path - like a whole pear for afternoon tea! The top 2 are starting to drop down slowly and he's losing his babiness (my new word?)
-
I know, don't their whole face change with the appearence of teeth... You will have to start thinknig about no 2 nelly ;)
-
I think my poor little nugget has a full blown cold. She is so snotty and can barely breathe so i Fessed it up and seems ok now. Do any of you guys use Vicks to help with breathing during the night?
She's chewing everything in sight and has started dribbling again. When i came home from work she had the rosiest cheeks and wouldnt let me put her down.
She's been eating so much and feeding a lot too. For dinner she had 7 cubes of Lamb casserole and half a jar of mango and apple custard!
Like AJP's Sophie, Ella is a little munchkin so she needs to pack on the pounds.
Vicky - Fingers crossed we all have better nights tonight. But if not i like the idea that a few of you guys might be up with bubs too.
Ann
-
ANN i have euky bear which can be used on kids or get the baby balsam. hope she gets better soon and more toothy pegs come through!!
-
We had a better night here last night, but I think it was because I was using nurofen, that and Aston was sooo tired. He fell asleep at 5, on the way home from picking up Nathan from Football training, and didn't wake again til 10, thank goodness, as my bbs were getting rather sore. so I fed him, changed him, gave him the next dose of nurofen and he went back to sleep til 4.30. He is a much happier little man today, but his nose is running green???!!!! think i may have to take him back tot he doctor!
-
Wow, sick babies all over the place!
Touch wood, we seem to be avoiding it for now, although night before last was a shocker for us too. Just don't know why? Little man was just screaming for few hrs and not at all happy when up in the morning which is quite unusual. DH slept elswhere last night and I had logan in bed with me - much better night. However, I am getting sick of the 4.30-5am wake up. Usually he goes back to sleep with a feed for at least another hr or 2 but not lately! Just wants to get up and play!
Anyone having trouble with solids? We are really struggling - he is just not keen at all.
Oops - must go, the boy is crying. BBL
-
H everyone!
Ann - We use(d) baby balsam when Jake's cold was really bad and demazin colour free cold relief drops for Jake. My neighbour swears by eucy bear. She must be going through a growth spurt and has realised this food business is good stuff! Jake was really babd like that (not wanting to be put down) when his teeth were just about to come thru with the rosiest cheeks too. It was funny bcos the cheeks would alternate - sometime the left one, sometime the right and sometimes both would be glowing!
Vicky - poor Aston! Green snot is usually an infection I think - did the Dr put him on anything last time? When we had green nose the DR just said to give him the demazin and panadol, and we only got the antibiotics bcos it went to his chest and he was rally rattley.
Was I the only one up last night? Jake was inconsolable from 11pm to 2.30 or 3ish just calling out and crying, would doze for 10 mins then start again. Once again tried him going down without dosing him, but once again not successful.... maybe will have to go back to dosing 2nite. I might try him just on nurofen after dinner and see if that gets us through. Of course he slept until 6.30 but wouldn't go back for his little after BF nap he usually has in the morning so we have been go go go with my eyes hanging out of my head, and DH has his Asia-Pacific GM in today for a meeting plus a few other big wigs.... poor daggles his eyes were so red this morning when he left.
Supposed to go to a Gold Coast meet up today but am too tired to do the driving which sucks bcos was really looking forward to meeting the other girls.
mmmmm.... no2 Vicky is being discussed - Darren wants to start ttc September which could potentially be a winter baby and there is no way I want to be getting up 2-3hours with a newborn in the middle of winter! But then our first pg took ages to conceive but when we decided to start trying again after mc and I had all clear from my molar pg we conceived Jake in the first cycle.
AAArrrrrggggh! Jake is now trying to climb and get his legs up on everything! He was climbing on his flip out couch yday and :lol:the couch unfolded on top of him  poor little man wasn't sure what to do and I was pmsl !! Trying to climb on top of boxes, me, the couch, the window sill ( low windows) and out of the bath!! Where's my little bubba who used to sit quietly on his mat and play with his toys!!!!!
Hope everyone else had a good night.
-
Sorry Meredith was typing my mammoth post and missed yours - Jake is skipping him morning sleep after his feed to. It's doing my head in not have that extra hour sleep!
-
Hugs nelly - that's how I felt yesterday - too dangerous to drive anywhere. I'm definately going to go to the doctor. He won't be going to swimmng lessons tomorrow either. Aston is into using me as his climbing frame too!! Thinks its very funny.
meredith, I had lots of problems with Aston when he starting solids, we started and stopped several times, and it has really been only int he last 3 weeks that I can honestly say that he is eating... rice cereal upset him, so I ended up trying pears, and avocado, and the were successful. Now he is eating lots of things. but it took ages. I know Tara has been having some problems with Evie.
-
btw meredith, do u have any recent photos of Logan??
-
We have been on and off with the solids too. Not because any reaction, just that he doesn't want any. he does ok with brekkie - rice cereal and fruit and now some yoghurt but certainly doesn't take great quantity. We try veges etc in the late afternoon/evening. He had been starting to take more interest but this week not keen at all. Just clamps his mouth shut and turnds his head away!
I know he is fine with BM but I would like to see the return of my cycle so we can consider no 2 and not much chance of that when he is almost exclusively BF.
Vicky, I hope you get Aston into dr today and all is ok. Has he any other symptoms other than the nose?
Re the photos - We have plenty but I am not very good with the computer so not really sure how to get them onto the webpage
nelly - Hoping you have some better sleep soon. Must be an age-related thing with all of our babies being so unsettled atm
-
OOOh, I tell lies! My Lovely DH HAS updated photos on the website.
Recent photos of Logan - just click on the site in my signature
As you can tell, it's been darn cold in Victoria! Logan LOVED the beach but was sooooo cold - his poor hands were blue after playing in the sand.
-
Solids for us consists of jar fruit at 2pm and bowl of either pumpkin or potato at 6pm. Gave her some bread the other day and choked...Craig freaked. Had a few munches on some pasta but was off that soon after. I wanna give new stuff but to scared.. so im gunna ask the nurse next week what to do and how. I swear im the worst mum when it comes to solids... i give her nothing compared to some of you in here.
ETA: Oh my Logan is a hunny Meredith!!!
-
Meredith - AJP had trouble getting food into Sophie, so she tried feeding her with her fingers, then tried a different type of spoon, and now I think is having success. (is that right Jols??) Love the photos too - he looks as cheeky as Aston!
Aston nose seems to have settled down this afternoon, which is good, I couldn't get into the doctor today anyway!! I'm not going to take him swimming though tomorrow, just in case.
-
Meredith - gorgeous pics! I need to get me a website thingy.....
Kim & Meredith - I found a food that Jake loved (apple) and used it as a base to introduce all of his new foods until he was happy to try new stuff. Texture was a big thing for him. It worked really well for us and he now eats 3-5 meals / day and 3-4 BF - but he is realllllly tall boy 97th percentile for height.
Vicky - i hope the cold settles down
I was thinking, do you think the last few unsettled nights are because it's getting a bit warmer at night (ie 10 instead of 4) and the kiddies are getting too warm? I still tie myself in knots every night over what to dress Jake in and am obsessed with checking the weather/ overnight temps every night to try and divine what to dress him in.
What else could be a reason - I seem to be blaming everything on teeth atm!
-
Meridith - we found she took to solids when we reduced the BFs. Ella doesnt have night feeds after 10pm and this has made her more excited about food. He now has lots of variety but LOVE casserole and beef pasta bolognese and dried figs. She will eat anything off my fingers and is starting to want to feed herself.
Nelly - i blame it all on teeth too :). its been warm the last few days here in Sydney but I havent changed what i dress ella in at night...maybe i should....
Ann
-
lol nelly and ann - my girlf friend was saying to me just the other day - "I swear people must be sick of my saying that - its her teeth" Her little girl is 22mths. But in all honesty, those first two years when they are getting their teeth, most of what is going on is about their teeth, and because they can't yet TELL you - hey mum,my mouth hurts, you get yourself in knots working out whether its this or that.... Nathan and Laura still get sore mouths when they are getting teeth (yes it even hurts when there is a new one pushing through a baby tooth! and also the other molars they get later. But at leat they can tell me!) Any of you had your wisdom teeth come up?
-
2 of my wisdoms have come up... and then had all 4 removed!!! 2 of them were lazy and layin down pushin all my other teeth!!!
-
i got the top two i think 2 years ago and i had to use bongela!!! i must have had a 24hr bug, was throwing up yesterday still not feeling 100% but better.
we had a bit better night, she slept through till 3 then had bottle and in bed with me till 8...but im still wondering where o where my sleeping through baby went!!!
Emelia copies things we do now!! so cute she will poke her tongue out and blow (makes the farting noise!) its so funny goes on for ages, and she tilts her head to the side when we do it!! there is a pic of her doing it on webpage
-
OMG Emelia is sooo cute.. love her eyes.. WTG standing with one hand too.... we keep faliing..one day Chels will get the hang of it!
LOL at her tooth shot....it took me 35 mins to get Chelsea's for her site!
-
hehe thanks! i love her eyes too hope they stay blue too..
Chelsea is adorable, cant wait to see wat her little bro/sis looks like :D not long now
when Emelias teeth first came through took me ages to get a pic, her tongue would always get in the way!!
-
I'm back again. Feels a bit wierd to be back to the land of the living.
So evie's night was absolutely *****, as have been the last 3 nights. she didnt sleep at all and i had no idea what was going on. she's been asleep for 2 hours now so touch wood she's going to stay asleep. i tried to not feed her when she woke last night but it just didnt happen. maybe i need to leave that until shes eating solids.
Evie swallowed a bit of solids!!! hooray! i eventually bought jar food and she didnt mind it...it takes her ages to actually swallow it but she did and hasnt really done it again but here's hoping! shes interested in food...really interested but is working on that swallowing bizo.
We turned evie's car seat around too, she still hates going in the car but at least i can see her now. i had to put a prop thingy in for her to rest her head on so she doesnt roll around all over the place when she falls asleep.
these last 2 days she has barely eaten during the day either, so i too am experiencing rockmelon boobs for the first time in months!
i think thats all thats been happening here...crossing fingers evie stays asleep! :)
-
Good to see some of you back after being so sick!! I hope you all recover well.
Jovie's had a few good nights & last night was awful, it wasn't really her fault. DH kept waking her up with his snoring & then Matilda had a tantrum in our bedroom at around 2.30am which woke Jovie up for an hour & then she woke up again at 4.30 quite chirpy and happy... urgh.
Her top gums are swollen atm as well so looks like teeth are still on their way. I guess this will be the cycle for a while. I found some homeopathic tablets & they have worked wonders, I just have to remember to give them to her before bed... because when I give them, she sleeps better.
Has anyone else started brushing teeth? I started just to get her in the habit & its so cute. Matilda brushes hers at the same time so I just hold Jovie in the mirror and brush & she laughs. Hopefully it will be easier to brush hers than it ever was to brush Matilda's.
-
Good to see you back Tara!!
Brushing teeth... id never thought of it... thought u started that ages down the track!!
I just made carrot, corn, bean, peas and potato mush for chelsea... not a smooth texture.. and tastes sooo gross....gave her a little to try and she must have realised it wasnt like she is used to and kept trying to get it our of her mouth... so i just kept feeding it...lol I hope she likes it when it comes to meal time. She much prefers her smooth potato! Green mush does not look appealing by any means..!
-
WB Tara.
yeah i was thinking the other day about starting brushing Emelias teeth, will get the stuff shopping tomoz, i was ment to get it months ago when her teeth first popped up!
lol Kim wait till it comes out the other end!!
-
gee we make good looking bubbas!!!!
mereidth we diod have problems with sophie not eating and yes a change of spoon did the trick!! she didnt like the rubber ones!!! sophie had tuna and avocado for lunch and mince, mixed vegies, pasta and pumkpin for tea!! only 3 cubes and 1/2 tub of yogurt, she decided tonight that me farting was funny and blew bubble throughout tea!!! messy stuff
TARA hope your feeling better soon, have your tried evie with yougurt??
-
What yoghurt do you give AJP?
-
I finally found the baby yoghurt..i get the baby yoplait the pear and peach Emelia loves them!
-
i have just got got the wiggles yogurt from aldi but may look at others that perhaps dont have sugar in them!! tastes good though, she always opens her mouth to yogurt
