Hi all, sorry I've been MIA but I'm sure you understand :)
Jeff and I spent 5 lovely days hiding in a private room in the hospital with almost no visitors. Something you can only do with the first child so we took full advantage. It was really lovely.
Things are going really well here now we're home too. Katie is breastfeeding well, she sleeps quite a lot most nights, and only screams for a couple of hours each evening, well before midnight (and one night not at all and last night only for about half an hour). Unfortunately daddy usually gets that shift so that I can get a nap in before the potential all-nighter, and daddy can't stand the screaming, I think it's something to do with the way men's ears work, it just pierces through his head he says...but he does it anyway.
I'm not getting very organised yet, I just don't seem to be able to slot stuff in between feeds, I'm not very good at being reactive, I'm used to being able to plan my time. Thank goodness my mum is here, she's getting me into a routine and reminds me to got bed for a nap during the day as well.
I'm afraid that there's no chance that I'll catch up with what's been happening with everyone over the last 9 days, so I hope that everyone is enjoying their darling little ones...even though my quick skim showed that some of you have had some bother...I guess we'll all get used to that...I'm dreading the first fever I must say.
At some stage I'll get my birth story up, but for anyone who wants a peak there's a photo of Katie in my gallery.
Take care all, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here and thinking of you all.
hi hj
sorry for jumping on again ladies, if you need to chat about the formula feeding i'm more than happy for you to email me on dcagiannitis@optusnet.com.au and i can also give you my phone number. I also had to change dd to formula after only a couple of weeks and i know how hard it can be!
HJ - Constipation aaaaah. I know the feeling. I have only been a couple of times in the last week and it is killing me at the moment. I am doing all the right things such as drinking metamucil, lots of water, fruit, cereal etc. I don't have any solutions except to relax and it will happen eventually. Check with your doctor if you are really unsure. Big hugs xx
Welcome Fussy and Olive's mummy.
I'm about to put a pic of Logan in the gallery now :)
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum business so sorry if I mess it up a bit.
I have also had cracked sore nipples for the past 3 weeks. I lost heaps of blood during delivery and didn't get any milk for 5 days so Olive was basically dry sucking. Then she got jaundice so became extra lazy with feeding so they just got worse and worse. The frustrating part is that all the midwives and the CFHN have said that attachment is good, she's sucking well, putting weight back on etc. I have noticed a couple of days ago that she has a white coating on her tongue and i'm wondering if this is thrush as i've heard this can cause nipple problems. Has anyone had this? I had antibiotics during labour and afterwards as I got mastitis as well. I'm not ready to give up BF yet but I can understand why women do so good luck with the bottle feeding.
I also have a question about sleep. My baby has been very windy resulting in very little sleep so we have been sleeping her on her side (you know yourself when you have a pain in the belly that you don't want to sleep on your back) but I am feeling worried about it as it's obviously not recommended. I was thinking of using a Safe T Sleep. Has anyone used this or had our dialemma? will ask CFHN about sleeping at clinic tomorrow as well although i'm pretty sure of what she'll say.
Thanks
hey darl and weelcome!
My milk took nearly 2 weeks to come in and still isnt too great. I always get a damaged left nipple so i hear ya there. Yes bub could have abit of thrush, go and get it checked. When Mia has an upset tummy she prefers her side or her tummy. She sleep 90% of the time on her side. Try and give her a mouthful or 2 or cool boiled water before you burp her, this is meant to help bring the wind and aid in a upset tummy. HTH
Olives Mum it could just be milk on her tongue, I know that Julian always has a white tongue. I think thrush will also be on her cheeks and roof of her mouth and it will be really thick.
Consipation is a big thing after birth as your body is doing more things and using more of your body fluid, try and have between 2-3L of water a day, it will get better after a while.
hugs xoxo
 yay, i found you guys!!
sorry, havent been around much but well, you know new baby and all,
i am typing this one handed while jacob is feeding, will probably take me forever, hasanyone elso got a piranah baby? as soon as jacob getsany where near me he starts snuffling and snorting and omg when i acyually puy him on the breast its not a sight for polite company!! hes a piglet, and the noises he makes!
hj- constipation omg, i hear you, I had a nasty experience the other day and had to call dp to go to the chemist for me "right now!!" and get me an enema! checked with the pharmacist first and it was fine to use while bf. microlax or bisalaxare good ones, quick and efficient if a bit eeewwwyyy!
well jacob is out of nb nappies already, and i still have about 200 of them  was not expecting to have such a big greedy baby! lucky i have a friend due in dec, i can pass them on to.
received my discharge notes from the hospital on friday, their reason for medical induction was " unusually large fetus" can you believe that? :o
now that i have found you i will be back, hi to all and cuddles to all bubs.

Hi Everyone!!!!
Sorry I haven't been around much but we've been busy here!! Today we finally got our new car after 3 months of waiting so it's been a long day! Hayden is offically one week today and what a crazy week it's been!!! I'm making sure I enjoy this bubs DH and I have decided that this will be our last one, it amazing how much Hayden's already changed! DS has been fantastic and I can leave him unattended in the room with Hayden and know he'll be fine! DS has taken to patting Hayden on the head, proclaming I pat him.... makes us laugh everytime!
OMG you all seem to be having trouble with the breast feeding, I've found that Hayden will de-latch onto my nipple so I've got to be careful ..... learn't the hard way the other day and I'm still suffering for it!! I've been blessed with another placid baby this time around, Hayden sleeps from 10pm till 4am then feeds for 1/2 hour before going back to sleep for 4 hours!!!! Breastfeeding has been good this time but the inital latch always hurts which from memory I think is normal for the first few weeks!
Hj,
Big hugs hun, I can garantee that it has nothing to do with the breastfeeding, I'm sure that things will settle down for you soon, keep your chin up your doing a fantastic job!!!!
Hollye,
I'm not game to co-sleep I couldn't with my other 2 too scared I'd roll over on them, Hayden's in a bassinet right next to me so I can get to him easily! We've been good here, I've been trying to find the time to get on to bellybelly but something has always cropped up, finally I'm back!!!!
We're off to the Magic Cave to see santa tomorrow, should be intersting, DH is home this week and wants to take the three monkeys in so we're off tomorrow nice and early to get a head start before the crowds!!!
Take care all,
Hugs to all those beautiful babes!!!!
Luv Snoopea
Hi HJ, my heart goes out to you with the lack of sleep and crying. Liam's had a bad night. My sleep was 3 hours, then 1 hour, and the rest feeding and trying in vain to settle him. He only slept when we drove to the Dr for an appointment (he always sleeps in the car - If I hadn't had a c-section I'd be driving all day every day ;)). Then when we got home, he wouldn't settle again all arvo. DH let me escape for a couple hours sleep.
Tonight DH had had enough, and really, NOTHING was working. So we closed the door, finished making tea (kitchen is just outside his room) and let him cry for 20 mins while we actually ate TOGETHER(!!!!). By about 15 mins he was quiet and when we checked after the 20 mins he was sound asleep - and so far, still is. This is the 2nd time we've done this, and last time was almost as successful (he cried the whole 20 mins, but settled easily when i went in). It feels very unnatural to let him cry and not do anything, but when he's overtired it seems to work better than stressing ourselves out trying to fix something that probably can't be fixed. The book I read that recommended this (as a last stitch effort - I think it was 'Baby Love' by Robin Barker) recommended 20-30 mins, no less, which I would agree with (though it's hard). Don't know if this helps anyone, but HJ, if Bianca's having such a hard time settling she's probably well and truly over tired by the end of the day and maybe this will give you and DH some sanity. I know it doesn't answer the question of why she's crying in the 1st place, but when i was looking around when Liam was crying constantly, everyone basically said that once you've answered all the basic questions (are they hungry, hot, cold, wet, windy, bored, overtired etc) they're probably just crying. "Babies cry" everyone says - VERY unhelpful, but this is what I meant when I said we'd stopped stressing about it. We just let him cry and do the best we can. I agree, I don't think the bottle feeding would be causing any problems. And because I've lived through a crying baby I know it's the most demoralisng thing you can experience as a new mum. Please believe everyone when they're saying you're not doing anything wrong. Some babies cry more than others. My DH was a terror as a baby to his poor parents crying constantly and never sleeping for 3 months or so (they'd lived through SEVEN miscarriages before he came along - what a nightmare of a miracle he was huh ;)). Good luck, take a deep breath, and take time to congratulate yourself on the things you're doing well, no matter how small. To get you started: You're asking for help (something I'm really bad at); you love and care about your little girl strongly enough to keep looking for an answer for her; and you're giving her everything you can when you can (e.g. moving to bottle feeding when bf wasn't working). You're not doing a bad job as a mum, you're just experiencing a couple of REEALLY tricky situations. Keep your chin up.
Starskky - LOL on your snuffling little boy. After giving anxious little cries to start with, Liam just sleeps the whole time while feeding. :)
Well, I'm gonna go catch up on some sleep while he's sleeping. I'm really nervous about tomorrow. I have some 2 hour thing for new mums at the Community Health Centre and am dreading that Liam might be unsettled during the whole thing and how I'll handle it. Why a TWO HOUR thing for new mums??!!! Like it's not nerve wracking enough getting out of the house for a short time for something that's flexible!
Anyway, wish me luck. :)
Morning everyone,
Just wanted to pop in quickly...... hmmm you wont get rid of me now!!!~ lol
DS went over on the tiles this morning and has a small gash in his head, yay just in time for the Santa photo!!!! hmmmm can't win here something always happens if we have plans!!!
Hj,
I agree with 1stbub27 that control crying can be very helpful in getting bubs into a sleep routine! I have done this many times with my children and children using daycare, sometimes they just wont settle and when your at your wits end a 20 minute break wont hurt you or bubs!
I can remember a few nights with DD when we were out driving or walking up and down with the pram...... luckily for us she always settled after a good scream!
Hope Bianca starts to settle for you soon!!!!!
Luv Snoopea
Morning everyone,
Starry - like you, we have a snorty, grunty, loud drinker on our hands. It is especially bad at night time when I feed him in bed, DH can't believe how loud he is!!
We had a great night last night. Logan slept from 10 until 3, but was making so many noises in his sleep that i was awake on and off from 12 expecting him to want a feed. He then slept again until 7:30 which was blissful for us. We are off to Kmart today and Babyco to spend a voucher. Chat later :)
hj1981 - You are doing a fantastic job hun and whatever you decide - happy mummy = happy baby. Babies tend to have a witching hour, usually at night when you are about to cook dinner etc... Izzy used to watch her Baby Einstein dvd (bad mummy ;)) but it was all I could do to entertain her. Very early on DH would come home to find me feeding or her asleep on my chest and me too scared to put her down so I just let her be....and we got takeaway. DO whatever it takes to get you both through that time hun - if you have a sling wear her so that you can do other stuff and she will sleep.\
Amandaj =- How are you going with your gorgeous boys hun!
Olivesmummy - It is hard when your milk takes so long to come in. If bubs is putting one weght then that is great. I thought I had thrush with Izzy and we treated it but apparantly it is commonly misdiagnosed and I really think my nipples were jsut sore. I agree with Amanda...James constantly has white stuff on his tongue which is just fat from the milk so look for whiteness around the sides of his cheeks too. James is in a hammock because he guzzles so much and has wind pain and it has made a huge difference. We hired it from Hire for Baby.We also cycle his legs and keep him upright for at least 15 mns after each feed. Good luck with it all.
Kylie - sounds like you are doing well and Logan is gorgeous!! Great photo and good luck shopping!!!
Starrysky! Hi lovely...I too have a typical boy ...nuzzles into my boobs, snorts and grunts all night long and he is BIG! How big was Jacob hun? I was thinking that James is nearly out of newborn too (4.7kgs last Monday!) and I have 2 more boxes...with Izzy I took them back to coles with no receipt and asked if I could exchange them for a bigger size and they were more than happy to do it so its worth a try. As far as "unusually large foetus - pfftttt the medical profession lose more and more of my respect every day- I was told James was "average sized" on the scan considering he was 14 days late and he was 10lb! Go figure!
Snoopea - I'm with you on enjoying every moment because this is our last one too and he seems so grown up already! We got a little giggle noise yesterday at MG I coudn't believe it! Our little man seems to have worked out night and day too and I was only up at 1am and and then 5am for feeds from 7 last night! Bliss! Amazing how a 4 hour stretch of sleep can make you feel like a new woman. I had really sore nipples for a while and put lashings of Lansinoh on them but they have finally settled down so I hope you all find that yours settle down soon too.
Good luck at Santas cave today- poor DS - I hate it when they stack like that. Izzy has a shiner at the moment from falling off DH's leg face first while playing horsey
1stbub - I hope you had a good night last night hun - and you are right about the crying. Sometimes unfortunately you do just have to give yourself a break. Keep bub safe in bed, and leave for a while to get yourself together for round 324! It does get easier hun. Good luck at your health centre thing - don't forget that there will be other mums there too who will know exactly what its like!
Not sure who I have missed - still getting my head around the newies and the group!!!! We are well, James is sleeping for a great block each night from 7sh til 11-1ish then another 3-4 hour stint. Day sleeps are pretty erratic he likes being with us so sleeps in his bouncer a bit during the day. Off to shower wile I can! Have a brilliant day lades and bubs be kind to your mummies!
Thankyou everyone for your thoughts and advice, everyone here is so friendly! Olive and I went to clinic today and she hasn't got thrush but the CFHN said that she is feeding well and isn't sure why my nipples won't heal (great help that was). Olive has however grown another 2cms this week which is pretty crazy, her Daddy is 6ft4in and she is very long and skinny like him. She is still very windy and is having huge periods of being awake and cluster feeding which i'm sure is normal but hard when your nipples feel like they are going to fall off. If my hubby even hugs me I want to punch him, poor thing. I am going to try some homeapathics and an osteopath I think as i've heard that babies who have been through traumatic birth (see birth story) have a tendancy to have spine problems which can cause wind. Has anyone tried this or other alternative therapies on their babies and found that it helps?
hello hello hello.. u have all missed me.. i know lol
snoop - great to see u back!
speaking of santa photos, whos getting one done for their bubs? i have a feeling Mia will just stare at santa and then prob sream but ill take her to get one anyway.. just to add to the album.
Mia did good last night, she slept from about 11:30pm to 5:30am fed till 6:40ish and slept until 9:30am, i was proud. Spent 2 hours in centrelink today!!! my appointment was 11am and i didnt get seen till 12:45 and then to get told "come back another day"... grrr needless to say i wasnt impressed. Then Mia had her 2 week check up and it was all good. She is now 3760 grams (8lb 4oz) and 51 cm long and her hc is 36.5. everything else was great. Weight gain not real good but shes got another check next week to see how its going.
off to do a feed. mwah to u all!! xoxoox
hi all, did you miss me????? got a little lost between threads I've been in the october 1-15th didn't see this one.
How are we all getting on with our little ones?
Hey Allie- doing well here! James is sleeping well at night, generally goes down around 730ish and will sleep anywhere from 4-6 hours and then another 4-5 hours after that so that is great. Day sleeps are a bit all over the place - he sleeps better in his bouncer in the lounge with us so we have let him do that just for our own sanity! He is feeding well too now - we have minimised the spews by only giving him one booby per feed and keeping him upright for at least 15 mins after a feed.
Izzy is pretty demanding right now, refusing food, whining, throwing royal tanties...... and generally just being a toddler! :D My mantra right now is Ignore or Distract! I still have DH home which has been wonderful - its eating into our savings but it has been worth it for him to have time with his kidlets!!
Hollye - Izzy was scared of santa last year so we didnt get shots done but will definitely be getting them this year I think! I might take her to see him quite a few times before the actual day of the photos I think!
 and hellooo to everyone else hope you are all doing brilliantly and bubs are behaving!! :D Off to rest while I can.
hey Tan, what a little trooper you have!!! I have been having a similar run with Angus...he has been going to bed at 9-9:30 for the night and will sleep till 2am will feed and will then sleep till 5:30-6am so I have been able to cope really well, he is an awesome feeder (and so hungry)
Angus has been sleeping alot through the day as well( a real novelty as Paige would never sleep during the day...at all!!!)..in fact he's been asleep since 5:30 so I am wondering if tonight might not be so cruisey...guess I'll find out in due course.
I tried waking him up the other day so he could have some awake time before night time sleep but he really wasn't keen on that idea, got cross with me and stayed asleep just kept pulling grumpy faces each time I tried to wake him up.
Angus has gone from birth weight of 9lbs 2ozs to 9lbs 10 ozs in just over a week (I would hate to see what he weighs now, but he is obviously getting the good stuff, he is such a great feeder, so much easier than his sister.
DH has the rest of this week and next week before he goes back to work am starting to get a little nervous about doing the single mum thing for the 5 days he'll be away but I am sure it will work out just fine.
I had my first bout of mastitis on Friday last week but luckily got it sorted quickly and am feeling back to normal.
no other news, just enjoying spending the days at home with my children, will have to think about how I am going to venture out soon I guess
had the Family day care association lady call today so I can start to get stuff organised I won't have to return to my job at the end of Maternity leave, doesn't sound like it will be too hard to get started and I am soooo looking forwards to being able to stay home with my babies this time around.
well love to all I am off to have a rest in case my little man decides to keep me up tonight.
Allie, Paige and Angus xxxxxxxxx
Hi all,
We had the MCHN visit yesterday and Logan is back to his birth weight in just over a week (4.34kg). He has put on 390g since last Wednesday - a big guzzler like Angus it sounds like!! Our nights are a bit varied, last night he was waking 4 hourly but the night before he only woke once which was great. He is such a noisy sleeper - grunting and snorting so I wake up thinking he wants a feed but he is asleep. I imagine I will get used to it.
We started using cloth nappies today, as we are almost out of the newborn disposables that we were given. It seems to be going ok so far.
Hollye - You poor thing waiting for so long and still having to go back at Centrelink!!! How frustrating.
Blizz - good luck with the family day care, sounds like a great idea for you.
Hi all!!
Hope everyoen is wel. I am still in canada till Jan.. having a fab time.. shopping relaxing and spending time in the snow..
Question?
Who is breastfeeding and who is not.. and how is it going.. ia m still struggling with Jorda.. still feeding here before bottle feeding.. i am giving myself 4 more weeks.. if nothing then bottle it is.. WHICH I HATE.. as its inconvinent for me.. finding boiling water.. sterilising etc.. PAIN IN THE ARSE... for my liking...
xoxo
Hello Everyone!
Just thought i would pop my head in and let u all know that things are getting slightly better - and im not so hormonal and emotional anymore!
Bianca still has her screaming the house down session everynight from 1800-2200 - for whatever reason - than settles and sleeps until about 0200, and back up again at 0430 - and sometimes goes back too sleep and other times dosent! so she isnt the best sleeper! not looking forward to when DH goes back to work!
During the day she is the perfect angel!
Just her and I are going for a day of shopping tomorrow - should be interesting! im very much looking forward to it tho!
Anyways thanks for all ur support and advice when i was going thru that rough patch!
I was very dissapointed in myself for how i handled things - but cant change that now!
no more sooking from me tho!
didi - im BFing with one top up feed atm at the 11pm feed. Still struggling here too sweety. Good luck. The idea of boiling water.. washing endless bottles etc doesnt sit well with me at all. If we have to change to that tho, then so be it. we can bittch about it together!!! :D
HJ - u werent sooking hun.. u are doing what we are all doing!! Its going to take a whole lot more then 2 weeks to adjust. Take ur time, u will be right. Bianca is gorgeous! Yeh i think ALL babies have that time in the day where they just go feral and there is no reason for it. Mayb she likes the sound of her own cry? lol. sometimes i think the constant screaming is Mia's way of making me go crazy but when it stops i know its not. At least she doesnt talk back...yet. lol. oh look at what we have to look forward to!! mwah xoxoxo
doing alright here. Me and Mia went shopping today and got some (well 63) photo's developed. and we brought some PJ's for her. I got her 2 pj outfits for $12! Kmart has a sleepwear and footwear sale on atm.. buy one item and get 60% off the 2nd item! i was stoked. Mind.. u one outfit had $13 on it and scanned for $10 and the other had $8 and scanned for $5 and then the 60% came off on top! Bfing still plotting along.. its seriously doing my head in tho. Fingers crossed its going to get better.
mwah xoxoxoxo
Hi Didi - I'm bfing Logan, all is ok at the moment which is good.
Hollye - we went to Kmart yesterday, and I agree that the sale is great. We got a few little 000 outfits for Logan as he has been in those since he was born. Skipped 0000 altogether!!
How are your bubbas coping with the heat? I am so thankful that we have central cooling, it makes things much easier. I am thinking that I will have to turn on the car a few minutes before we go out with A/C on so that the car cools down before putting him in. I don't want to overheat him in a boiling hot car.
oh the heat.. Its great when we are inside coz of the cooling but going out is horrible in the heat. Next time im ready to go out im going to go run the car for about 10 mins or so just to cool it down abit. A car sitting in 32 degree heat would be about 40 inside. I get really worried about Mia in the heat. Seems we had our bubs a little too late it enjoy the great weather we had at the start of october. Nice and sunny 22 degree days would be nice!
Mia is mainly in 0000's now but they are still a little big on her. Some of the 00000's still fit her tho i dont have very many. She is 8lb 4oz now :)
Hi all, have just posted my birth story for anyone who wants to read it. It's at https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1512473
Great birth story Fussyboots. Fantastic effort. I will have to write mine up soon, we were in labour at the same time, but my bubba was just too happy to come out sooner LOL.
Hi all - was going to say stay away from KMART - but i see some of u have already been!
i got conned by Pixie Photo's and a couple hundred dollars later!!!!!!! now i have too wait until the 27th too pick up my gorgouse photo's of Bianca!
Has anyone else got them done aswell?
Hollye - im soooo proud of u - u are doing soooo well bfing! good on ya for perservering!
Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing super well!
Didi- I am breastfeeding hun and it does get easier although at the time I know from experience it doesn't feel like it will.... I had pain in one nipple for no known reason until 4 mths with Izzy and nearly chucked it in but we worked through it and it all got better and I fed her until she was 11 mths old and would have kept going if I wasn't back at work and pregnant!
Allie - I hope you got all your mat leave stuff sorted hun and bummer about the mastitis :( I hope it clears up fast for you.
HJ -Im glad things are better hun and keep your chin up and do whatever you can to get through the witching hour = try bathing her at the time she's screaming etc.... to you.
Kylie - Yay for the cloth nappies and weight gain! I have a little giggle at times at how HUGE my little man was when I hear you ladies telling us what weight you are up to! Such a boof man! No wonder I was HUGE at 2 weeks overdue! I am wrapping out wee man in a muslin wrap at night with just a nappy and singlet on and he was ok. I think I will put a fan in there over summer to circulate the air but not on him. It's so hard to know what to do - I had the opposite with Izzy because she was born in May!
Hollye - Hang in there with the feeding hun you are doing a brilliant job! I need to get some photos developed too! I got them done monthly with Izzy and but I am waaay behind on hers and need to get them done from around Feb I think - eeeek! Hot here too! I am hoping the change will come through soon! We have the a/c on but it doesn't reach the bedrooms at night!
Fussyboots - Great story hun! Well done!
Well Im off to do some housework while I can! Izzy is eating "tanas" and James is asleep in his bouncer (of course). We had another good night last night - he slept from 730 tl 230 but MAN my boobies were sooo sore. I know I shouldn't complain and Im not but whoa mama!
Hugs to you all and your gorgeous little ones!
Didi yep still b/fing here as well, I think I've got better with each bub, Cody I b/fed until 17 and half mths, but I stopped so that I could TTC again as I'm one of the lucky ones that can't get pg until I've fully stopped. I think my hardest bub to feed was Lockie(DS2) I only fed him 15 weeks as he was feeding every hour and I was exhausted and was at my wits end so comp fed with one bottle of formula and he wouldn't take the boob again I was devasted but obviously he was starving and the bottle was better for him.
Tan things are going great for me and Julian, he seems to be doing the sleeping from 6:30-7pm til 1:30-2:30am and then sleeping until about 6am again which I'm finding great. I totally understand the sore boobies after such a long break.
I got Julian weighted yesterday and he's now 3820g, he was last weighted on discharge on the 19th of Oct and he was 3310g so in just over 3 weeks he has put on 510g. His little head is only up 1cm at 34cm and he has grown 4cm since birth and is now 54cm. All is going well and I've noticed that he's starting to have more awake time which is nice as he's always smiling and yesterday he's started to make gooing noises, which is always cute
im just about done with breastfeeding. I feel like i have exhausted alll my options.
hey,
I found you all. I was abit sad:cry:
Cathie
thanks Girls...
Its not that I dont want to B-feed.. I dont have much milk.. i SOOO belive in supply and demand but its not happening.. I have tried
Drugs from Doc..
Drinking beer
Eating Lots of oatmeal
TRIED to relax
express like crazy
massage
accupuncture
drinking TONES of water
feeding every 2 hours for a week... DID NOTHING and i was soooo TIRED
natural herbs...
So any other ideas??
She latches on great.. just dont have enough for her...
Canada is brilliant.. having a fab time.. Jorda and Ben in the snow, is so fun.. getting professional pics taken soon.
PS.... for those of you who havent tried... The Body Shop has the NICEST baby stuff.. called Buriti... smells great sooo super nice.. go in and try it on yourself.. the body butter is beautiful!!!!
I am also struggling with the BFing. In the past 4 weeks my boobs have been sore every single day. I've had cracked nipples the whole time and mastitis twice and now my midwife has confirmed that I have either thrush on my nipples or maybe a staph infection so I am in agony. Although all this has happened I still really want to BF however today I have given Olive formula which i'm going to alternate with breast milk until my boobs heal. I really hope that I can feed her after this as I had planned to feed her for at least 18mths. I am also wondering if my pain is affecting my milk and that is why she has been so unsettled, who knows. Oh and I took bub to an osteopath today who said that she has a compressed neck due to stressful labour so did some massage and stretches with Olive. I think i'll give it another go. I am already seeing that with the bottles it is very annoying boiling water, cooling it, sterilising etc. you have to be very organised which i'm finding pretty difficult with a new bub. Is anyone else noticing that time goes crazy fast when you have a baby, I know everyone says that but I just didn't realise how much time you spend on the lounge BF.
Didi - dont worry atm i think BFing is so overrated. It ****s me how it just doesnt happen like i thought it would and yeh i have a dodgy supply too. Mia had a full 100mls of formula about 4:30pm and she finally stopped screaming and has been asleep since. Mind u she fed of me for 1.5 hours before this.. hmmmm how the hell does that work???????
hi guys,
I guess ive been pretty lucky with the bfeeding, jacob latches on really well (with a lot of snorting and snuffling and grunting..) then grunts his way thru a boob and a half every time, I just get worried that hes not draining the breast properly, hes been having a few power chucks, makes me a bit scared to lie him down, afraid he will choke.
has anyone else been having the baby blues? I know its supposed to be perfectly normal but I just cant get my head together, I will start crying for no reason and I just cant stop, poor dp is getting a bit frustrated as he cant see why I am crying and the fact that there really is nothing wrong doesnt sit right with him....
well, I suppose im fibbing a bit there, I really need to get out all my dissapointment about my birthing experience, dp doesnt understand, he just says, well where would you rather have the stitches? in your belly or your fanny? not much help.
my mother is the type to just say get over it, but she never had a c section, all us kids were born vaginally.....I dont know, it wasnt that traumatic or anything, but I just cant "get over it" iykwim?? every time I think about it I feel ripped off and I want to howl.
sorry to unburden all that here, but I dont have anyone to talk to about all this.
hope you are all well and sleeping well, hugs to all bubs xxx
Hi Starrysky,
I felt really upset about my labour and birth experience for a couple of weeks too but I found that after about 2 1/2 weeks this improved heaps and it definatly helped to talk about it with other people. I just couldn't get over all that I had been through (see birth story) and thought about it constantly "it wasn't meant to be like this". I think having a supportive family and doctor also helped but no one can tell you how to feel and I found that I just stopped thinking about it as much without even realising. I think it's worth mentioning to your CFHN or doc though just so that they can keep tabs on you, I did this and it made me feel better. I have found motherhood amazing but very overwhelmimg and only in the last week have really started to feel a bit more confident. BFing is hard, sleep deprivation is hard, the whole bloody thing is hard work. My husband is great but even he doesn't really get it and I think lots of people with kids forget how full on the newborn stage is and usually aren't sympathetic. Anyway know that you aren't alone.
Oh Starrysky - it is completely normal hun....Neither of my c/sections were traumatic (although I was *****scared the whole time with both) and I never had any complications, plus I have 2 gorgeous healthy kids..... so WHY do I still mourn my birth experience. I know loads of people just don't get it but it is valid to feel that way hun. I wrote about my experience in my debrief- link is HERE and getting all the sadness out did make me feel better but I am a long way from healing. I don't think anyone other than women who have been there really get it. I also get so sad at people who seem to effortlessly have VBAC's, yet I tried so hard and still failed. Talk all you like hun, and get it out. It is ok to grieve your birth experience and where better to do that than here where we "get" it.
Olivesmummy and Hollye, and everyone else who is having trouble feeding.... Thinking of you both - having been there with Izzy I know the trials and guilt that comes with contemplating FF - you have to do what is right for you though.
God i'm becomming addicted to this forum thing. After her formula Olive has now been asleep for 4 wonderful hrs and it's nice to have a bit of me time. I was just wondering how long stitches are supposed to take to heal - 3rd degree tear and 3rd degree episiotomy - it's been four weeks tomorrow and I thought they would be totally better by now, maybe still a bit tender but not still stingy. Thanks
Don't worry about being addicted hun - check out my post count and I've not been here for 2 years yet! I'm not sure about the stitches thing hun, hopefully someone more useful than me will pop in soon! :)
Ya i guess i have tired everythign its just a pain.. .I am not SUPER upset about it.. its just a pain.. .the whole bottle thing...
Well 4 weeks i will know bottle or boob....
