kuraiza - Zander goes to bed relatively early - normally anywhere between 7pm and 8pm - but last night was up and down for 90 mins cos he would start screaming - which he has never done, I am more convinced teeth now. That is the routine I have gotten him into to coincide with my other two - I dont particularly want to get the other two into bed, then still be up for 2 hours with Zander - definitely no me/us time then!
Dream feed doesnt work here, Zander either just purses his lips, or wakes fully and is difficult to settle. He fed last night at 3am but with his probs feeding the last few days i am fine with that - he then slept until 7.30 and I have put him back down with some Bonjela now!
Amanda - go to doc - my advice is get the anti's anyway - as kuraiza said - once the chills and shakes set in, ohmy - very scary and you won't be able to look after your kids - you will need your DH or someone else responsible around - first time I had it was this time b/f too and it was terribly frightening - i cant recall feeling so out of it and sick - so a couple of weeks ago when i got a hot patch etc, thats why i went straight to docs and got antis!
Zander woke at 2am but settled with a brief pat, and as i said fed at 3am - i did give him paracetomal at about 8pm though when we had tried to put him down twice already - and he still took 45 mins after that to sleep - his gums this morning look a bit more mushy - but poor fella clocked himself in the head with a toy he was shaking all over the place - so hard to tell if before bed crying was head or mouth lol.
-
By early I mean: Jude would call it a day at 5pm some days (if I let him), I usually keep him busy til at least 6pm or he'll wake up at 4.30am and think it's play time.
-
re bed times.. yeh Mia has an early one 7pm-8pm. She dream feeds at 11 and sleeps till about 7am. Im looking for some baby hairclips, just the plain ones to try and do something with Mia's crazy hair, anyone know where i can get some, i have already looked on Ebay.
ETA - not quite that early.. but 7 is still early i guess.. the suns still out lol
-
Hollye - i found the best thing for that age is little butterfly clips - they grab the hair really well and stay even if they have fine hair - the slide clips always fell out of Giselle's until she had more hair. Big W, Coles, pharmacies etc
Just remember to take them out before she goes to sleep or starts to grab at her hair ;)
That little 2yo that was run over in her driveway by her mum in her 4wd lived 3 houses down from my BIL - such a tragedy.

Morning All,
Sami - I think it is true us women following suit with AF. I have to say I am so crabby too. Just not happy Jan!!!!! We used to call it Knock and Run when we were kids.
Amanda - Thank you. Sorry about the Mastitis, I hope you feel better soon hun. Thats nice you and DH are thinking about No. 6. My DH is definately not going there. hehehe
Georgi - I just knew I was going to get AF the first time, the ewcm was in abundance ewwwww!!!!!
PP - I envy you too with not having AF for so long. You know I think it is the other way round for me, DH is the one that is way too scared of another pgcy. hehehe
Katones - Woohoo for Jack having two white teeth.
Kuraiza - I am a sheep too. :)
Belfie - I hope AF is being have itself.
Teru - As the others mentioned about ewcm and ovulation. Hope your study went well.
Tanya - Gee a massage sounds nice, lucky you. :)
Well as for the DTD topic, I believe we have done it abit more the 6times since having V, I think DH would go nuts if he didnt get it. The first time I was soooo nervous about it, and I must say it hurt alllloooootttttt. Even now still does. Its the only time I am glad AF is visiting.
As for teething, the earliest I had one of my kids get teeth was at 3mths, one day my DS2 had 2teeth the following week he had another 2, so a total of 4teeth at 3mths. I hope all your bubba's cope well.
Anyway I have 2 kidlets at home sick today not fun poor things. hugs V also has decided to get up an hour earlier than usual. hugs all.
-
Morning Hollye,How is little Mia today? V goes to bed at 8-8.30pm every night. I hope you find the clips you want. hugs The butterfly clips are the best, I have to agree with Sami. You can also try Best & Less. V hates anything on her head.

HEY! Just for the record, that joke about women all getting their periods the same time online was my joke, Sami was quoting me. For an out-of-work writer, I've got to keep the credit for my work! ;)
I don't think 7-8pm is too early. It's a good time for a baby to go to bed.
-
:grouphug:I was just about to type I cant take the credit for that one LOL - I quoted K and then laughed at the end as my comment - but the quote didnt come out in italics i think cos i put it into bullet point?
Now PP are you going to pop in and say goodbye here hun? PP has posted a thank you and goodbye thread ... :grouphug:
-
Kuraiza - :) Take the credit hun, well deserved,
PP - Was wondering the same thing as Sami was.
Well I was very good today just spent 1hr 30min on the Wii Fit. hehehe

Hi girls
Yep!
Sorry extremely nauseated this morning *insert freak out here!!!*
I hope you all the best with your little angels..
I will be on facebook . I just need to spend less time in cyber world and more in real life.
I feel i have an addiction to BB and it is hindering my ability to be attentive to my children.
So i have to leave cold turkey.
E woke 3 times last night. And is imppossible to settle without boob as he hasnt had a dummy in about a month (refuses it).... so i was exhuasted this morning!
He has 2 little teeth just under his bottom gum i can see... so that will be fun hahaha!
Tanya - i hope the post y is speedy for you
and i will chat to those on FB soon
*mwah*

Bye kel :( ill miss u
new pics of Mia added.
-
Just a quickie from me at the moment.
PP - I'll miss you on here! I've loved your input and advice! See you on FB!
kuraiza - I tried the patting Maya to sleep thing again that you mentioned and it worked today. :) Actually a woman at MG also mentioned it and showed me how to do it today. And even though your description was very accurate I am such a visual person that having someone show me was easier for me to have the confidence to know what I'm doing.. if that makes sense. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you are still doing it to help Jude to settle and is it still working? Also, do you leave Jude sleeping on his side? I tried moving Maya onto her back after settling her on her side and she woke as soon as I turned her over and was not a happy bubby! So I had to start from scratch and have now left her sleeping on her side.
Anyway.. wanted to get that all down before I forget! I'll BBL.. need a cup of tea! :)
-
you will be missed PP!!!
who was asking about cloth nappies???
I have a whingy sooky boy!!!! driving me insane...wants to be held 24/7!!!!
-
kuraiza thanks for the info on mastitis, Julian is usually in bed anywhere from 5:30-6:30, usually about 6pm, so yep he goes down early which for me is good because then I can organise dinner/baths etc.
Sami thanks also on the mastitis front, I think I caught it quite early I massaged it a few times last night and the red patch seems to have gone now, still feeling a little tired so hopefully it will go soon.
PP sorry to see you go hopefully I will catch you on FB and catch up sometime.
Hollye will look at the pics of little miss Mia in a sec.
Kat you sexy mumma you, love your Av.
Well Cody has passed on his runny nose to Julian the poor bubba, he woke at midnight (which isn't like him) and only had a slightly runny nose, then woke again at 5:30 and had a feed and was so stuffed up and runny he didn't really sleep much only catnapping until lunch when he crashed, my poor baby. I'll be taking him off to the Drs tomorrow just to make sure nothing else is wrong as he's pulling his ear, but it may just be blocked.
I think I got on top of my mastitis as well, I just massaged it heaps last night and the red patch seems to have gone and same with the pain.
hugs xoxo

Tanya: Yep I leave him on his side and prop him up a bit with some rolled up cloth nappies. He has rolled onto his face which upset him, but he usually rolls back. I'm glad to hear it's working. I'm very visual too so I understand my description didn't help much.
Woops I think I was rude to a girl at MG today, she said she went to sleep school and they taught her to leave her baby to cry itself to sleep and I said that went against my philosophy, but I wasn't meaning to be judgemental because actually Jude isn't bad about crying non-stop so I can't say what I would do if I had a baby who cried constantly. I'd probably do anything. I hope she accepted my apology and doesn't think I'm a total ***** now. I have a tendency to suffer a bit of foot-in-mouth disease when I meet new people.
Amanda: I'm glad I'm not the only one with a bub that goes to sleep so early. You're right, it does make the rest of the evening easier, but I wish Jude would dream feed and sleep a bit longer at night.
Still beating myself up about breast feeding and formula, and wondering what I should have done differently. Keep thinking I should tough it out and starve Jude back from bottle to breast, make him stop refusing my breast by offering him nothing else, but I hate to see him miserable and I don't think it helps anyone if he's upset all day long and hungry. I'm so confused and full of doubt, just don't know what to do. I want my baby to love my boobs again and I can't understand why he stopped. :(

This afternoon I'm finding patting Maya to sleep helps her settle quickly.. but then she wakes every half hour! :wall: So it feels like a choice of spending half an hour to rock her to sleep and then she'll sleep for a while.. or get her to sleep quickly but then constantly resettle. :wall: Though I think the problem is that she's waking up on her side and she's only ever slept on her back.. but I don't know if there's a way I can get her from her side to her back. :dunno:
belfie - How'd you go last night with X? Maya woke at 1.30am after going to bed at 10pm! Then woke next at 6am. But she stayed awake for an hour and a half at 1.30!
Amanda - Good to hear the mastitis didn't develop. :)
kuraiza - When Maya was a newborn I was often up for ages trying to resettle her, but then she got quicker and quicker at settling. Even to the point that during the night I could put her down awake and she'd go to sleep. So I thought I was making great progress even though I still had to rock her to sleep during the day. (though the day sleep rocking wasn't taking as long as it used to). Now it's like any progress she made is totally out of the window and I'm back to the start again! Taking ages to rock her to sleep during the day and at night. :( Oh and I also have heaps of trouble getting to sleep.. so when I go to bed it takes me an hour normally to fall asleep - sometimes less or more. So two hours awake = 3 hours awake really for me. :(
As for her going to bed late.. I think that routine developed early on and now I don't know how to change it?! Cos it effects all her day sleeps too. So my typical day starting with night time (I don't have any sort of routine really which is probably very bad but I find it hard to keep to any routine the minute I leave the house!):
- M goes to bed for the night between 9pm and 10pm. Then I go to bed around 11pm - midnight. I imagine every else probably also going to bed about an hour or two after bubs.
- M wakes a couple of times but sleeps till around 9am - 10am (sometimes she's up for a little while at wake times, other times a long time and sometimes straight back to sleep so length of sleep varies). But this is probably really the same as those babies going to bed at 7pm and getting up at 6 - 7am.. just pushed out later.
- Then she has a late morning/early afternoon nap and another nap in the late afternoon usually waking from this nap around 6pmish. Hence.. I can't really get her into bed at 6.30pm after waking at 5.30-6pm.
I think my 'routine' is probably similar to everyone's but pushed out later. Which I don't mind in some ways cos I am NOT a morning person and I don't feel tired in the evenings. But it makes it hard to get to any appointments in the morning and sometimes Maya will wake somewhere between 5 and 7 am and not go back to sleep.. which means I have only had a very short amount of sleep. The other problem I see is that she's often up from 6ish till 9-10ish which I know is too long but I find it hard to get her into bed earlier.
When you say that Jude crashes what do you mean by that? Does he just fall asleep? My other problem is that I have never ever been able to see any tired signs from Maya.. so I go by the time she's up for. I try and put her down after 1 1/2 to 2 hours up time. Also Maya wakes at the slightest noise or if I touch her at all. Actually I think if Maya had a choice she'd stay up all day/night long if she could.
Question: What time usually do all your babies wake from their last naps of the day?
Anyway, I should stop there before I ramble on too much more.. Did anyone make it to the end of this post.
-
Tanya: It was strange because Jude used to sleep at the same time as Maya and I also didn't know his tired signs but one day he completely changed everything. He just went to bed early one day and I thought it was a nap but he didn't wake up again until the middle of the night and now that's been his pattern ever since. I have no idea why it changed, but I'm not a morning person either. However, it has been easier to make appointments and get dinner ready.
Jude's tired signs have become clear. He rubs his eyes and yawns and through that I've learned his early tired signs when his arm and leg movements become jerky instead of controlled. Now he has quite good hand-eye coordination so I can visually see when he starts flailing his arms and I know he's tired. The BIG clue for me is: if I can hear ALL his toys getting kicked and punched then I know he's not playing nicely anymore and he must be tired. Does Maya do that? Does she stop focussing on one toy and start hitting them all?
But I don't put him to bed straight away, I usually sit him on my lap and we have a look at a book together or I just talk to him for a few minutes and then I take him to bed. Sometimes he objects but not for too long. However, Jude uses a dummy and that is a very big part of how he falls asleep and I know Maya doesn't like a dummy so unfortunately I'm not sure if I can offer advice for you. Maybe she will suck on your finger or a toy? If there's anything she'll suck on to calm down, I would use that to settle.
Jude's last nap of the day is sometimes just an hour before bedtime, it gets a bit tricky because we want to bath and feed him around 6, but he already wants to be in bed by then, but any earlier is too early for us to work around and my husband would never see him if he was in bed any earlier.

Tanya - just a quick response from me. I had trouble with X rolling in his cot then squawking. Go a nice tightly tucked in cot sheet, then she maybe she can't get onto her side?... mightn't be the same, but with X, he draws his legs up, arms up... and over he goes. The sheet stops the limbs going up and he stays on his back. And it doesn't seem to bother him & he definitely sleeps better for it (this after me putting him back on his back about 10 times the first night he realised he could roll.... lol).
Had my aunt & uncle over this arvo - lovely visit but they've currently been evac'ed from their home for a week now due to the fires. Very stressful for them but at least they're safe.
BBL short on time atm.
