Tanya - well my MIL laughed when I said we were going to s'one elses 1st b'day. She thought it was a ludicrous thing to do. Riiiiight. Anyway, yes I DO plan to have one (and not invite MIL harhar). Haven't really thought much further than that. Probably should. Think we'll have it here.

SamiH - arrrrgh X has caught Z's bug! Dunno how he did that from interestate - tricksy boys huh. Ok he probably isn't as bad... just sounds like a little Darth Xander... all snuffles & snorts and not very happy boy at all :( Vaporisor is bubbbbbbbling away hopefully that'll help. And FYI, I am arranging books because they all got taken OFF the bookshelves during our lounge reno & paint... therefore not just arranging books out of boredom, but having to put them back cos i'm sick of boxes of books everywhere... (JIC you were under ANY misapprehension there :p).

AmandaJ - lovely to hear from you. i'm so impressed you've got pressies already. And poor Julian with the infected toe!

Georgi - lol that was funny re waking up early! and woo hoo on the weight loss. I've had a naughty weekend and gained, oops!

Well X's crawling is slowly getting more effective... but he just gives up and rolls sometimes. It's hilarious. He's starting to get a bit of separation anxiety too now... does NOT like it when I'm gone... actually maybe it's just him being clingy cos he's got a cold! Hmm dunno, anyway we'll see. Hopefully he'll come good quick smart.

Are you all planning on having big first birthday parties for your bubs? I have started to think about what I might do for Maya and how many people I might invite and when I told DH tonight he was super shocked at how many people I was thinking we'd invite - friends + family. He says he doesn't want a big first bday party for M and what's the point cos she won't remember it anyway. But I'd love to do something for her. My other problem is what to do. I'd love to have it at home but our place isn't big enough for the amount of people I was thinking we'd invite. What are you all planning to do for your bubs?

My opinion - 1st birthdays are a celebration that you have got through the first year - and can be proud of becoming the parents you have evolved into - just as much as celebrating the 1 year milestone for Maya. So 1st parties are just as much about the adults too!

Recently we went to one at a Club - but they dont really have that kind of thing in Vic - but what about sourcing a bistro that has a kids play area as well I know there are a few and book early and have it there? You put on drinks and ppl get their own lunch or something like that?? That way you dont have to worry about cleaning up - and then you can invite some ppl back or family afterwards without having to have everyone. I cant wait to get my invite ;)

Zanders wont be big at all - no family here - just some of my close friends for an afternoon at my house with lots of bubbles and nibblies.

Zander has woken up better today but the last two nights have been pretty bad - he just wants cuddles - fair enough. no Pain relief or temp for 24 hours though so that is a relief he is over the worst of it.

Gotta get kids ready - Nanna and Poppy are here from Ballarat last day today and they are taking G & R out for a couple of hours and lunch so I better get them ready - sounds insane but I am nervous about it cos they have never done it before ... my kids are just always with me because of circumstance! The kids are loving having them here, showering them with so much love and kisses - amazing considering they only see them 2 - 4 times a year!

well X has conjunctivitis & an upper respiratory infection. Just back from docs with script for eye drops. Poor little snorty man. He's currently snoring like a freight train! (actually that's a bad analogy - freight trains don't snore :doh:).

Yeah that's what I think. I've been looking forward to celebrating Maya's 1st birthday for myself just as much as for her. My DH still thinks it's a silly idea but I've told him it's important to me so he's fine with me organising something. :)

I like the bistro idea. And today I thought of hiring a hall. I've found some halls in parks so that might be a good idea. Or another idea I had is having it at our place and hiring a tarp. Outside we could fit people.

I know I'm looking into it early but I also know things could get booked out and I have a very particular day in mind - no other day will do. ;) It was nice having a baby born on a Friday so that her bday falls on a Saturday the year after. :rofl:

Hi girls. I woke up this morning with a killer headache, which went as soon as M's weigh was over. So must have been a stress headache! She's put on about 300 grams in a month and shot up 4 cms. I could definitely tell she's grown in length but wasn't sure about her weight. She's now 6.580. Still below the 3rd percentile. But I'm just happy she's shown some growth! I also love my new health nurse. I told her how worried about M I am and she told me to get a second opinion from another paed who she reckons will say "she's absolutely fine". Whereas my current paed keeps telling me I need to fatten her up more. So I think I might seek a second opinion and maybe that'll help ease my mind.

Bummer on the headache, but woo hoo on the weight gain, that's great! Nice you've got a good MHCN too, mine is just booooooooring. And I feel like i hardly ever see her - honestly, i have a more meaningful relationship with my neighbour's dog! Anyway, that's great she's growing & gaining. I like my paed if you want to know a good one - but he's in Mitcham & Bulleen, which ain't exactly handy for you.

X is slowly improving. He's wanting night feeds again, cos he's off his food/milk in the day.... geesh what a shock to the system. But sooooo funny, he's crawls away, and as he gets to whatever he's after, with the extra "snort-power" he currently has... he gives this huge snort of satisfaction - it's hilarious! :rofl: I swear, he's more pig than baby! OINK OINK!

belfie - X looks like he's doing great with his crawling. :) M went from tummy to sitting again today. :)

I enrolled M into swim lessons and it was our first one today. I had no idea what to expect. M wasn't too happy about this new thing. Quite a few tears - poor girl. But if I hugged her she was OK. And by the end of the lesson she was happier in the water. So fingers crossed for next week.

Oh and if anyone is after a work out for themselves take your babies swimming. After half an hour of walking around, crouched down in the water my legs are hurting and I am exhausted! Or is that just cos I'm unfit. ;)

Hi all, just popping in quickly to say hi and to let you know V is sick again...:wall: Poor little thing has been up all night and had her back to the Dr's again today. She has been vomiting, hi temps, runny nose as well as an ear infection. Funny tho, she keeps tugging and pulling on the ear that has nothing wrong with it. The DR has given antibiotics but has also given a letter for the hospital if she doesnt get any better by the end of the day. He wants to play it safe due to what happened to V last time (me too). She is asleep atm so I guess we will see how she goes today. Hope everyone else is well. Hugs from V and I.

oh cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear V is sick again! :( Sending you good vibes for a speedy recovery and hope she doesn't need another hospital trip :comfort:

Thanks Belfie, didnt take her to the hospital as she seemed better with the antibiotics, but I am taking her back to the DR's again today so he can check her over again. Still not eating well, and running nose alittle cough. So need to keep a close eye on her.

It seems like I am coming down with the flu too now, cant turn my head, sore neck and sore throat etc, so need to buy another mask.... Havent been gain touching V today, even tho I have had too. Hopefully the Dr will give me a mask, getting expensive paying $3 a hit, bought 6 last time and the two DD's used them all. Also DD4 was up coughing all night again. Will it ever end? So over the flu season.....

Where did the weekend go??

Saturday I had a Pamper Party and scored some great free stuff from sales - but we all had fun with bubbles and cheesecake and gossip :rofl:

My little boy has been well again the last few days - relieved - he still has a bit of a runny nose but it is clear so that is great! Just looks gross, when he rubs his nose and it mixes in with his food - blah hahahaha

He has been sooooooooooo good the last few days with everything - mummy guilt kicking in thinking he is trying to tell me - see, everything is great mum, don't go back to work :( 3 weeks and counting - but only 2 days a week I am sure he can get through - me on other hand will be a mess.

he is confusing me a bit with his milk feeds though at the moment, cos he has been sick and i have been trying to keep him well hydrated, he was waking at 3 - 4am for a feed - which honestly is fine, cos I feed him, back in cot, straight back to sleep - he doesnt muck around at all.

So he feeds say around 3.30ish every second night at the moment, then up say around 7am on avg - not looking for a feed. So try to give him some brekky (try = meaning if he eats, which more likely sucks some toast and that is it :rolleyes:) - and then I wait for him to want a feed - then it gets to 9am, and I think stuff you, you need a feed, and bed around 9.30/10ish for 90 mins on avg.

So, up and lunch about 30 mins after he gets up ... then wait .... he will kinda demand around 1.30pm - and back to bed around 2pm-ish - he will either do 30 mins then have another 30 mins later on around 5pm - or will have another 90 - 2 hrs (like now!) and that is it .... so he gets up ---- and starts noise making for milk feed around 5pm ish, try to put him off a bit - we try to solid feed around 5.30 with the other kids, but he wont eat much - he just wants boobie!!! Which he ends up getting cos I cant stand the whinging (DH reckons it must seem much worse for me cos it doesn't bother him). Then of course I try to feed him before bed but he aint really interested.

Any ideas on how I can play around with this???? - I have tried but nothing is working at the moment - its not a HUGE deal, but with school back I have to do pickup 3 days a week leaving at 3pm. So factor that in too ....

Sami - The pamper party sounds nice. :) Is that a service or something you organised? Sorry I have no advice on what you can do with Z's feeds.

Well I thought I was being majorly organised and went to book a venue for M's 1st bday 3 months in advance and it was already booked for the day I wanted - her actual bday. How annoying. Anyway, I decided the venue was too good to pass up. It was booked for nearly every day around her bday too but luckily it was still free on the Saturday after her bday. So I have venue all sorted now. And boy am I glad I decided to be organised for once. :)

Can't remember if I said I got the at home work sorted so I am starting that now. Well.. I should be starting it right now. I keep putting it off. :doh:

Oh crap have just realised it's probably the grand final weekend (yes I'm in melb - AFL of course)! Hmm might have to think about that one. Maybe a sunday do...

SamiH - that's tricky with the feeds. I don't really have any constructive ideas, except to say I hope he sorts it out! I wonder if things will change once you go back to work anyway... whether it's for the better or worse remains to be seen... got that new suit, shoes, hairdo yet? I wore heeled boots when I went in for a meeting a few weeks ago - omg... I can't remember how to walk in heels!

Our X/Z's will be 10mths on Sat, can't believe it's going so quickly!

CSAB - how is V going now? Hope she's all recovered & stacking on the weight.

X is permanently chasing my 2 cats & 1 dog now... they move so fast compared to him! They're all learning to run away from him :rofl: cos they all have very fluffy long fur which is sooooo grabbable for little fingies. Plus I think he just thinks they're big toys come to life :doh:

Friends of ours had their 2nd baby yesterday - another boy (first is 2 yo). Can't wait for some newborn cuddles... cluck... cluck cluck. Such a nice age gap hey ;)

M actually went to stand yesterday! :o She got part way standing and then fell over on to her head! :( Poor girl. Lots of tears so I dunno if she'll try that again for a while.

I got a referral for another paed but I am in two minds about going. On the one hand I think it will be good to get a second opinion, but on the other hand he might not make me feel any better.

belfie - got the shoes, hair & nail appts booked, and will shop next week when Z is phasing in at child care :( I have been wearing boots still through winter so am used to heels still - but cant wear as high as I used to any more
We are having a combined 1st birthday and grand final party for Z's birthday :) Have an early afternoon tea with cake and finger food etc, then he can have a snooze when the footy is on :lol::lol: But easier for us as no family here so just some close friends and families for this one.

and 2 years is a good age gap between a boy and a girl tehehehe.

Tanya - the pamper party was like a body shop products party - so still party plan type. But we had fun. Re the paed appt - meh it is up to you, Maya sounds great to me :) But you did remind me to get Z weighed and measured because he hasnt had one since 7 months, so he might of actually got bigger in 3 months :redface: DUnno how though.

I know I sound like a broken record - sick of him not eating though big time, we keep offering, that is all I can do. :wall: but some days it really affects me more than others, cos I know he needs to start eating quick smart. And I wish he would start to crawl before child care so he can get his own toys .... :rolleyes: nothing is going my way boohooo

SamiH - yeah I think we might have to do a combined b'day/footy final too. Re crawling, shall dispatch Auntie Al for crawling lessons asap ;) re the food oh that's sooo frustrating! What does he do best with? BLS, purees or mesh feeder? Or lousy with all 3? And FYI, X finally crawled to get to my water bottle (or vodka bottle as some said...;) worth a try hey.

*Tanya* - poor Maya standing then falling over! re the paed... what would you want to hear? Confirmation her weight is ok? or see if they agree with the other one? I've gotta say she looks good in all the pics... but that's not a medical assessment lol. GL with whatever you decide.

Well I'm offering X some finger food. He usually plays with it and doesn't put ANY of it in his mouth... but finally put some banana in his mouth yesterday... then pulled a face. So we'll keep persevering.. I can't see him eating any of it soon tho!

Still not all that well, have had a sore neck since Monday, and V is still not that great, snotty nose and all. Yet she doesnt appear to have the ear infection anymore tho, but still need to keep an eye on her. Hoping this flu, she has doesnt get any worse. :crossfingers:

Tanya - Poor little Maya, she may just surprise you tho, they can be quite stubborn at times. V has no interest at all in standing, too many others that can carry her around the place. She does this thing where if you arent looking at her and your holding her she grunts at you. hehehe Just wondering has any of the peads mentioned anything along the lines of (failure to thrive) V had that on her discharge papers from the hospital, and I heard it a bit while she was in hospital. I am glad Maya gained weight too. I hope this next pead gives you some good news. hugs

Sami - Dont worry about sounding like a broken record...:lol: I think I must sound like that all the time especially at home. Especially to the kids and DH. Little Z may surprise you too soon. I found V didnt like any baby food not even the custards, she would look at me as if to say What the crap!!!! She was only interested in eating real food. Yet I have to say with her being sick on and off (which BTW is driving me nuts) she isnt eating what I would like her too. I would just keep offering Z these foods, especially the finger foods, I found at the beginning V like to suck on bread rolls dipped in mashed vegies and gravy. :)

Belfie - yay for the finger food, V loves Bananas, but since she has been sick she hasnt been eating a great deal. She is funny when she holds a banana it slips out of her hands and then she gets lazy and wont hold it anymore. So then I have to hold it and she chews at it.
