I just lost a huge post!!!! Arrrgh. Back later, too grumpy now!
lol belf - that happens to me all thetime - gives me the pips!!!
Well i just spent 3 hrs at the shops in toysrus and kmart toy isle shopping for the kids (my brother was downand wanted to buy toys).
Exhausted! then drove for 1.5 hrs across the city picking things up and dropping him off.
so DS didnt get a feed from 8am -130pm! poor thing. now he is exhausted from waiting for a feed and DD had a 10 minute powernap in the car so she thinks she doesnt need her usual 3 hrs afternoon nap! great!
i finally get him for a good sleep and she is awake... never a chance hey!
well i had my 6 week check up (just a tad late :D) Dr says i have slight PND... BUT other than that all is good!!!
Got jack weighed whilst we were there...5.8kgs :D
Xander has eczema :( Just took him to the doc after weeks of people telling me that all babies have dry skin... we've been using all the paediatrician recommended stuff (i.e. QV oil, Dermeze, Dermaveen) and his skin has just been getting dryer, redder, scalier etc... poor little man. His face looks SO sore at the moment, bright red & dry as a desert. So we've got some prescription drugs to help get it to settle and if it continues to be an issue then I might need to look at an elimination diet to see if that helps. Unfortunately DH has eczema/dermatitis and is sensitive to milk protein.. so there's a likely link with Xander's eczema and my diet. For those who remember my dietary joys during PG (fructose malabsorption + GD + PG stuff).. you'll know that my thoughts about dietary restrictions are... NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!
So I'm having a little wallow tonight :wall::wall::wall: and then tomorrow i'm going to be hopping on the healthy wagon to see if that helps things. Grrrmph.
all the rest of my previous post will happen later.
Katones: Holy cow, 5.8kgs! That's huge. What are you gonna do about the PND?
PP: You had a busy day!
Sami: I have no qualms going out without Jude, I would never get anywhere if I had to take him with me. I really need my husband's help to go anywhere with Jude, I just can't cope.
My husband took me and Jude shopping this arvo and we bought a basic $40 bouncer at target. I just popped Jude in, he seems somewhat soothed. He's hiccuping and making it bounce. He was having a good cry until he got in his bouncer.
I think Jude has reflux. That's the only explanation I can think of for his constant screaming soothed only while he's feeding, but straight after he's screaming at me again. I read the belly belly article and it made me say "ahhhh". He's much happier being slightly upright.
Belfie: I understand. If Jude has reflux and I'm not allowed to eat chocolate or anything fun, I'll die a little.
I feel for you hun - my DS1 had it patchy all over as a baby/toddler and still on backs of his knees and elbows, DD had it on her cheeks as a baby and now still has it bad on backs of her knees and wherever else she gets really dry, she scratches it in her sleep till it bleeds sometimes. SO far Zander has escaped it, no sign, we cant believe it, but we figure we deserve a break this time around.
Our family histories include eczema, asthma, psoriasis, anaphylactic nut reaction ( DS1 has this too), hayfever - so we have to be extra careful introducing things into diet when going onto solids.
I hope it just stays at eczema for you - only on face, not on rest of body??
We use Hamiltons oil in the bath, Dermaveen or Alphakeri lotion for moisturiser - Zander has never had any soap products or and Johnson's stuff just in case - all that baby packaged stuff is just good marketing ;)
Kuraiza..yep he is huge!!!! PND...not much...i had depression before and just dealt with it... won't do drugs...
hi ladies,
i need a quick fix...just noticed a small crack on my nipple while expressing, is there anything i can do to make it heal overnight??
Katones - 5.8kg is truly impressive!!! And you go girl on the PND, you can do it
SamiH - aaw thanks hun! It's all over his body - very bad on arms & legs, and some on his front & sides and his back is best of all. Plus the cradle cap... *sigh*. There's also psoriasis & psoriatic arthritis in my family & DH has asthma too. Fingers crossed hey. Also, thanks for your earlier comment re expressing. Have to say I have a few things in my favour... double pumping (that's the bomb), X is generally very easy (even with the eczema!), i have only 1 child and DH works from home - so he's here 2-3 days during the week which makes a huge difference - even though he's working, he can help for 5 mins here & there. Also with DH's allergies/sensitivities/skin he's sooo motivated to help me express IYKWIM... so he knows it's a difference in workload for me and consequently for him too. He's a darling, he's so motivated to help with feeds & settling which is really great too. I'm very lucky that all these things make it possible. Plus when we were BF'ing honestly it was a much greater workload than this is... as it was "inefficient BF + LARGE EBM top-up + FF top-up + express". Just EBM & express is sooo much easier/quicker!
PP - what a monster day for you!
Kuraiza - thanks  your comment re choc just made me feel a little better. Good work with the bouncer... we need to get one of those.
I went into work today (melb CBD :o). Was kinda good, but big busy day in the end (out for 5 hours!!!), and X was screaming in the car as I left the city... I don't love driving in the CBD anyways... much less with crying - eek stressful!! There's just been big restructures at my work so I thought my job might go, but no, they've just moved me into a different role! I was kinda hoping for a redundancy... but it's probably better in the long run to keep it.
amy_o - you are SO a nice mummy!
*Tanya* - loving hte new name!!!
hi to everyone I've missed... this is about half of my earlier post where I'd nearly managed to say hiya to all of you.
Teruteru: got any lansinoh? That's great on nipples.
HI All,
Trying to get a chance to pop in and say hi. Seem so busy especially this week for some reason.
Belfie - I hear you with the eczema, Olivia has it too. Thankfully the Dr had prescribed some cream to help get rid of it along with the hormone rash she had. Her face is looking so much better, yet it is now her scalp. I am so hoping that the QV cream works ok for that one. Olive oil on her scalp worked ok, but didnt like the smell it left behind.
Katones - Sorry to hear about the PND. Had my belated 6week checkup today but didnt go into anything apart from having the PAP, ohhh the joys of that one..... Ohh and a blood test. Wow what a good size Jack is, well done hun. hugs
Sami - How is everything going hun, hope all is well. hugs Hope you enjoy the pampering at the hairdressers, I so love the head massages. hehehe
Pink - Hope you enjoyed shopping, did that yesterday and was so glad it wad over by the time I got home.
Kuraiza - Olivia seems to have reflux too, although I am BFing, I want her to have some bottle feed every now and then, yet with the formula she keeps throwing it all up. So looks like I am going to need to buy a supply of the anti reflux formula. Olivia loves being upright, she always more relaxed in that position.
Hollye - How is Mia going? Glad you got out and let DH battle the forces of a crying baby. Now he knows how hard it can be to get anything done. hehehe
Amy - Sorry you had a rough night. My DH said to me in the morning that I have started to be a deep sleeper. I asked why and he said I gave you a hard kiss on the lips in the morning and I didnt even wake. Honestly didnt feel a thing either, yet if any of the kids make noises of a night especially Olivia I hear them. Anyway I just replied that I have been exhausted and feel as tho I havent slept. Even tho Olivia sleeps beautifully, my energy levels have dropped heaps. Hope you have a good night tonight. hugs
Itsme - Yay for the name change. "Tanya" Hope your well. hugs
Amanda - How is everything going with your little man?
Hello to anyone I have missed, I hope you are all well. Hugs
Well finally I have some more news on Olivia, she is now 2580gms, HC 36cm, length 50cm. Woohoo, she is making her mummy bery proud. The Geneteics appt seemed to go well too this week, and the pediatrician was very happy with Olivias progress. She is just a little bubba and is taking a little longer to gain her weight than what other bubs do. She is gaining weight to what her body will allow her too, so thats why he is ok with her. The Heart u/s is now for February 12th, as the Cardioligist is going to be on holidays in January. Olivia also appears to have a tiny little hernia, yet they dont seem to concerned about that either, as it was my DR/GP that mentioned it to me on our belated 6week checkup today. She said to me Olivia is now the size of a newborn. So now hoping that when we go back to the pediatrician in 5weeks time Olivia is over the 3kg mark.
Hello a quick hi before bed, I am so exhusted, have told DH that I HAVE to sleep tonight or we will be in trouble. My psych was concerned with a few things today... lack of sleep is a major trigger for bipolar add in stress and well. Anyway I have been managing pretty well till now and dispite his efforts this morning DH is pretty good. But I can see changes in my mood, actions and the like so I need the sleep and reset the brain so to speak. (My psych has a thing about refering to the brain as a computer, appenently mine needs to shut down and reboot. When I was going through my PTS from the birth it was defraging....mmm years at uni and this is what I get!!) the best part is I know sleep will help, hard part making myself do it and turning off the mummy guilt and letting DH do it for once. As my mum said on the phone it has to be done so do it. I will be a far better mum tomorrow for it and letting it go and seeing what happens isn't fair to Bethany or me or even DH.
Ok so I have rambled and now I am heading in the direction of bed, heres hoping I will be back tomorrow with some posts that make sense and don't have typos and spelling errors.
Night all hope you all get to spend sometime in dreamland!!
Bubbas be good for mammas!!!
belfie- im with u on the bad melb traffic especially with all the roadworks goin on, it can b very stressful :( i have to cross the city to get frm my hse to mums
re lansinoh- at mums tonight so havnt got even the samples, is there anything i can do in the meantime?
ok other suggestions, have you tried putting some breast milk on it? Lucas Paw Paw ointment is meant to be ok too if you have it? Or Olive oil? Or Comfrey ointment (if you have such a thing, I don't!).
ahhhh belfie - i had a dream about u lastnight!!! see i spend way too much time on here!
Busy Busy Busy day today, i better hop to it!
mwah! xoxo
 oooh that's brilliant! What was I doing in your dream? Aaah that cracks me up.
mwah to you too, hope you have a lovely Saturday!
Hi to everyone, hope you have lovely helpful DP/DH's helping you out!
Hey girls, I thought it was time I posted rather than just stalking. This would have to be the most active thread on BB. I just can't keep up.
Byron is doing great. He's feeding much better since I started feeding him lying down or laying back. But one problem....... He doesn't know when to stop. I have to take him off at 30mins otherwise he'll projectile vomit from having too much.
Last Saturday I went to Renstar's baby shower & thought I'd leave Byron at home with DH & a defrosted EBM bottle so I could have a few wines.... Well... Byron was due at 3.30pm for a feed, at 3.45 DH rings & says Byron won't have a bar of the bottle. He just spits it out & howls like he's being fed poison. I said to give him a dummy to get use to the sucking action & try again in 15 mins. Well at 4.30pm DH rings & says he's coming to get me to feed the baby. I'd had about 3 wines (finished the last one at 3.30pm) & wondered what I should do. There wasn't anything I could do so I fed him at 5pm. I figured the once off occaision won't hurt. So now I have decided to express once a day to feed him by bottle so he can get use to it. Otherwise I'll never be able to leave the house. I've just been giving half feeds with the bottle to slowly get him use it. Yesterday he took 100mls which was all that I had expressed, so today I'm gonna try for a full feed. I'm now gonna give him the EBM before bed so he can differentiate (if that's a word) between night & day. That way he might sleep through the night, every night. It's a little hit & miss at the moment. He's been going down at 8.45pm after his 7.30pm feed. Some nights he'll sleep through to 5.30am, other nights he'll wake around 2.30am.
We've got a nice weekly routine going now... Monday mornings we walk with Sasha28, & jane (who I met in hospital), Tuesday we go to the clinic (mothers group) and wednesday we're doing mums & bubs yoga. I kinda feel like a lady of leisure (sp?).
I went to take some pics of Byron dressed in his santa outfit today... The only ones I got was of him howling... He was so tired cause DH got him out of bed at 6am & played with him for 1.5hours when he was meant to be sleeping. Hopefully I can get some better ones later today & i'll upload it.
TeruTeru - I vouch for the lansinoh. I had a serverley blistered nipple when I had mastitis & the lansinoh cleared it right up
Kuraiza - You must be loving that bouncer. I've used one right from the begining & it's a god send. I put Byron in it after every feed to he can stare out the window (nature time) so his feed digests properly. Then again about 5 or 10mins before bed to let him relax & calm down. It works a treat
Hollye - I saw Mia's pics on FB. She's just adorable. So cute.
Csab - So glad to hear Olivia is doing so well. My prayers are paying off! Every time I see a tiny baby at the shops, I always think of you & Olivia. It's so easy to forget how little they once were. I have to look at pics to remind me Byron was so little once
Katones - Byron is nearly 6kgs too. He'll be 8 weeks (corrected) on Tuesday
Belfie - How frustrating losing your post
Sami - Good luck for your outing today. I know exactly how you feel.
Amy - Do you sleep during the day while Bethany sleeps? Sometimes I take Byron to bed with me. That way I don't have to get up to him stirring. I can then sleep him on his side (which he loves), in my arms. We both get a good rest then. Even if you don't sleep, just lay there to rest, it does wonders for your mind
Tanya - Thanks for your comment on my birth story. I was wondering who you were then I noticed your ticker. Glad you got the username you were after
Amanda - Sounds like your having a great time with your new arrival. Man your house must be caotic. A friend of mine has 4 boys & I thought her house was crazy!
PinkP - You really must come down the goldy for a swim one day. My pool is only very little but it does the job
Sorry to anyone I may have missed. I can only read back a page or so while in this screen.
Again, I do read all your posts, everyday, I'm jus slack at posting.
Have a beaut weekend... Man that was a post!
Amy - I hope you had a better night last night and got some much needed sleep. I think sometimes you need to spell things out for men! Though I often don't take my own advice! However last night I did! I was so exhausted and feeling sick, so I basically said "I'm feeding Maya and heading to bed, then she's your responsibility until she wakes for her middle of the night feed!" Then she fell asleep straight after her feed and he didn't actually have to do anything.
Sami - I hope you enjoyed your hair appointment today! :)
belfie - When you lose a post have you tried clicking on the Back button on your web browser? I often find when I click back my post is still there and I just click on submit again and it works! I also save my post before submitting it cos I got sick of losing my posts!
katones - Wow - 5.8 kgs! :o
kuraiza - My friend's baby had reflux - he would scream all the time even after feeds. So she finally took him to the DRs and he told her to give her bub something before a feed to help settle his tummy. I don't know what she was giving her bub though but she said it did help. Maybe getting something to help settle Jude's tummy is worth a try?
csab - Great news on Olivia's growth. :)
Georgi - Yeah I'm probably going to confuse people for a while with the name change! It sounds like things are going well with your routine! I'm still a bit all over the place!
Well yesterday I went to a shopping centre with Maya to pick up photos and I wanted to get some other stuff done like go to Medicare and get a little bit of Xmas shopping done. I made sure I was all organised before I left.. but I got myself all stressed at the thought of being out with a screaming baby! And then she surprised me cos she was so good! The only times she cried was when she was hungry! She even had a couple of sleeps in the pram!! :o Though I didn't stop moving the pram.. even when I was standing still I just kept rocking it! So I managed to stay out for 3 hours!! And I got everything done I wanted to get done!
But when I got home I was so tired and I had a headache. Which just got worse and worse and turned into a migraine - I think from stress, lack of sleep and the heat! I was so exhausted last night and so sick. I wanted to go to bed early for once, but Maya was unsettled. Then at 9pm I started feeding her and just told DH that he could take care of her once I was done! She was in bed by 10pm and so was I, which is earlier than I've been to bed for a while. Unfortunately it still took me a while to get to sleep and she was awake by 3am! So I am still tried but at least I feel MUCH better today!
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!
Tanya - Glad your feeling much better today, those migraines are horrible when you get them and have to tend to small children/babies. I suffer with them too. Thanks as well, I am just so proud of my little "V".
Georgi - Hi there hun, I love your routine, I love my bouncer, and have always found them so useful with all my bubba's. Its a shame you didnt get to relax at Ren's baby shower. I bet she enjoyed herself tho. How exciting, she is going to be a mummy soon. :) I will always remember when Byron was due, as it is the same day I had Olivia. I still cant believe she is going to be 8weeks on Tuesday. Its funny I keep getting asked by people whereever I go, how many days old is she? Ohh she is a newie. etc. Everytime I tell them how old she is they then ask was she a premie? Then I say no, they are then in shock with how little she is. I have to say tho, she has definately found her voice thats for sure... hehehe. When she wants something she more or less yells for it. hahaha. She even will smile at you one second then bring on the full on loud cry with the next. Then will just stop at the drop of a hat. I think she is going to be a little drama queen when she is older. She is such a cutie, just love her tooooooo bits. :loveshower: With the bottle feeds I had the same problem with my DD1, she wouldnt have a bar of it. I have been giving Olivia the bottle every now and then just incase my BM doesnt last, or if I need to go out and have someone mind the kids I wont have any dramas with feeding Olivia. I have been trying her with S26, she takes it although not that fussed. She prefers the boobie. hehehe. When I have tried to express the milk it takes far too long and normally ends up that she needs another feed, so that takes even longer. Maybe one day I will try expressing again. I am so thrilled for you that Byron is doing so well.
