Katones - I am using the bambino mio prefolds and covers as well. They are fantastic, but i find i have to soak them to get the horrible yellow poo stains out of them LOL. DH is going well with them too. So many times though when we take Logan's nappy off and put his legs up to clean him, he does these nice juicy pooey farts!! Its like he is just waiting for us to take off the nappy hehe. We are also using sposies at night time atm.
PP - Are you managing to get any extra sleep in during the day? You must be exhausted with the constant get ups at night.
Kylieb..i got given one and find it OK... yep i know what you mean about the pooey farts!!! it seems EVERY time i lift his butt when i'm wiping him.. he decides to let rip.. and poos!! (not alot though...mainly dribbles)
yeah we are using sposies at night, and cloth during the day...am loving using them actually...
kylie - are you cloth bumming? I use only bamboo prefolds and the sun bleaches the yellow poo stains as they are horrid!!!!! :) what are the bambino made from?
As for sleep during day .. mmm would like to! lol but with a 17 month old not likely!
I have quiet time between 1-4pm when she goes down for a sleep but often ethan is awake then!
mybest rest is 6-7am when DH takes them before work lol!
LOL PP i know what you mean by the lurvly yellow poo stains... the bambino mio covers are just PUL covers PP.. with great leg gussets.
Jack is screaming right now..i have to let him cry for abit.. he just won't sleep during the day..it is cat naps ALL day long.. and i can't keep re-settling him.. he has to settle himself :(
Katones - yeah they are FF, It's true it keeps them full for longer. I'm lucky that they both sleep through to 5.00am. During the day they are sleeping like your little man Jack 2omins to 30mins. Or one will sleep and the other stays up, once I get the one up asleep than the one asleep is up. I get nothing done during the day which is abit of a pain.
Pink - how are you going?
Cathie
CathieW.... i seem to get SOME things done during the day but honestly NOT much!!!
he cat naps anywhere from 1/2hr to an hour.. but then is awake.. and i try and try to resettle BUT he just keeps waking..little bugger!!
Logan wouldn't settle this morning at all unless i was holding him!! But he has now been asleep for about 2.5 hours which has been great. I think he knew his daddy was back at work today. DH seems to have the knack of always being able to settle him easily - not fair! Mumnesia strikes again, I sent the Birth Registration form off in the Medicare envelope oops. Now I have to wait and see if medicare send it on, or back to me. I have also been on the phone to Centrelink and I think we are entitled to something like $20 a week from the government woohoo.
Kylie i took the forms in to FAO last thursday.. so we shall see if we are entitled to anything ( i doubt it will be much)
DS has been a pain in the bum today BIG time... i think i have finally gottne him to sleep... on his side with one of the sleep positioner things.. so it feels to him like someone is still holding him...
kylie - My DH is good at settling Maya too!
Cathie - Sounds like you are doing great with two little ones. :)
PP - I hope Ethan learns to sleep more in the night soon!!! Maya refuses to take a dummy too. At the moment I've given up on trying to force her to take one. But it would be nice if they would take a dummy to help them settle!
katones - Maya cat naps all afternoon and into the late evening. She will only settle while I hold her. So I normally have to rush around in the morning and get everything done then!
Georgi - It sounds like you are getting a lot of sleep. :)
I had a bad day with Maya yesterday. Normally she has a morning sleep and I can put her down and get stuff done. But she was up the whole day and was very unsettled all day long. Which was so hard because both DH and I were extremely exhausted after going out the night before and just wanted to have a nap! We finally got her off to sleep at 10.30pm! It seems like most other bubs in the group go to sleep around 7 to 9pm ish!
Today is better though. She had her morning sleep, so I managed to get some stuff done. And I can't believe it but she's gone back to sleep now!!
Ohh.. and this morning I managed to express 40 mls.. which is more than I usually can. Woohoo! And I went to put her in her 4 zeros suit this morning and it doesn't fit any more. I swear she's grown heaps over night! Suddenly she seems to fill her 3 zeros suits.
Itsme...tell me about it..Jack will only resettle lately being held...BIG mummas boy!!! i have gotten abit done today... and even been to the shops.. but he chucked a patty there too!!
he sleeps beautifully at night... but during the day.. it is catnap heaven....
My husband drove to Brisbane to pick his brothers up from the airport and he took Jude to give me a break (because I was losing it last night that I have to listen to Jude's e-e-e-e-eeeh-waaaaa cry all day long until 11pm), so I took the opportunity to watch Oprah and express a huge 80mLs, woohoo.
Now I miss Jude and his little e-e-e-e-e-eeeh-waaaa cry. They should be back soon.
Kylie: all those government forms are a pain, I wonder how long until they send us the birth certificate, we sent our forms in 5 weeks ago. Hmmm. And medicare still haven't sent my new card with Jude joined. They have been so useless. However, it was a nice surprise that it turned out we were entitled to $340 a fortnight that I was not expecting at all. It's good to get some of your tax back, if only they wouldn't steal it from us in the first place, eh?
Kuraiza.... the forms are a BIG pain the arse arne'tt they??? it took nearly 5 weeks for Jacks birth certificate to come back.. and madicare only took us about 2-3 weeks before the new cards arrived.
I think from our rough estiamte on the FAO website we are entitled to something like $60ish dollars a fortnight...
kuraiza - I know what you mean about wanting some alone time and then missing bubs! Any time I go out for a bit I miss Maya, but before I go out I look forward to my time away.
We received our birth certificate within a week of sending off the forms. And we were paid the baby bonus within a week too. Still waiting on new medicare card though.
Probably TMI but I can't get over how much poop Maya produces! Every day she has one really HUGE poo that fills her nappy and goes everywhere! And then she'll do many more small ones all day long! I guess that means she's eating heaps and her digestive system is working fine! I just can't believe someone so small can produce so much!
We got the baby bonus quickly, but it's a mystery what happened to our birth certificate.
Some information that might interest you: Jude just had his 6 week check up with the paediatrician and we discussed how Jude doesn't sleep all day and how he wants to eat from 3pm til 11pm straight (and that's being generous). The doc asked how my milk supply is at the end of the day and I said "very low" to which he gave me a knowing "ah huh".
So the concern is that Jude isn't getting enough sleep and I am not getting any down time. The concern is not about Jude's weight (apparently he gained 400g in the last week so he's now 3.7kgs ). The doc said I am doing a heroic effort and Jude's weight gain is amazing (not just satisfactory or good), but something has to be done about the not-sleeping / constant feeding / low milk supply issue.
So he prescribed Maxalon, an anti-nausea medication, which has a side-effect of increasing milk supply and suggested I supplement at 3pm each day (when my milk supply starts to not satisfy Jude) with formula (because I am so bad at expressing).
I am hoping the Maxalon is enough to stimulate my milk so I don't have to supplement and in the mean time I am going to use up the EBM that I have slowly accumulated to give him a good feed and hopefully Jude will sleep better once he's being fed better.
He just downed 80mLs of EBM and promptly fell asleep. So it looks like it might work :)
FENUGREEK will also boost your milk supply DRAMATICALLY!!! and it is from the health food shop.
Oooh really? I'll give it a shot if the Maxalon doesn't work (since I already picked up my prescription).
yep and i'm seriously thinking i need to get some....
i CONSTANTLY feel drained....
