Kelly sounds like Tara is taking to solids really well. I have just packed up the 000 bodysuits and washed the 00. I am guess my DD is around the 6.5kg mark too now.
DD decided to sleep on her tummy last night, she can roll both ways and lift her head well so I am not worried, plus I figure I cant really stop her. She has been a little sooky this week, not sure if it just needles or just one of those things. Still not much of a routine here, she generally has a morning and lunch sleep, if she doesnt have a big lunch one then she sometimes has an afternoon sleep. She does go to bed at about the same time each night though.
I hope everyone else is going great.
Oz, Iz does the same, she falls asleep in some strange positions! pretty sure she passed out on her belly at ur place!
it doesnt bother me though, like Z she has pretty good head control and can roll both ways.
How is everyones babies at grabbing things these days? izzy almost has it but is still alittle uncodinated
Skybie just this week DD has become a lot more coordinated, doesn't always grab things first go but is getting better.
T grabs her toes when she's on the chamber pot! And holds my face with both hands, feeling it over to study it.
Not interested in what I eat but wants to hold my cups!!
Maya dont you just love when they feel out your face. DD usually has a play then leaves a big sloppy kiss on mine lol.
lol Iz does that too, and when she's had enough of exploring my face she grabs it with both hands and guides it to her mouth! cheeky bugga trying to eat mummy!
She does it at feed times to, grabs my boob with both hands and yanks it towards her face, whilst pulling herself into it at the same time, which makes it look like im trying to smother her!
they are all just so cute.
P.S love the ticker pic Skybie.....lol
oh thanks hun! yeh this awesome chick in qld did some photo's while we were up there on holidays, u should meet her i think you'd like her! :p
Hi girls,
Ozstar - The new med - losec does seem to be working (hasn't stopped the reflux completly but much better!) She isn't spewing hardly at all now, just the silent reflux with pain!
Ella is loving the food aswell, has had rice cereal though she isnt a big fan of it, and pumpkin and apples. I just put them in a saucepan with boling ater and wait till their soft enough for me to mush. I looked at babies food at the shop and was shocked at the price for a little jar so will continue making her food and just keep the jars for emergencies!
Kelly - Ella is 6.5kgs but still in 000's, and a couple of 00's so she must be shorter if your packing away the oo's!
Skybie - Ella is getting more coordinated but gets frustrated when she can't get the toy to suck in quick enough!
Maya - I laughed at your post about DD studying your face because Ella just did that for the first tome today , she put both hands on my face and had a good play!
Heavenly, Lily, Jen - :)
Loving hearing my lil gal giggle and "talk" so cute! Just started at gymberoo last week, she absolutely loved it and I am looking at it as a possible job opportunity for me too!
Just popping in to say hi to all of you - hope your well
wow it has been busy in here lately!
good to hear our bubs are discovering new things and giving us cute stories and memories.
ery hows the solids going, are they helping ellas reflux? i too am doing my own, i would rather know what shes eating and when it was bottled so i do my own, and like you have a few commercial bottles stashed just in case. shes eating pumpkin, corn, sweet potato, potato (not a big fan), zucchini, carrot, apple (have cut apple out now tho) and pear. i have cut her cereal out due to the constipation but will re-introduce it in small amounts when shes back on track.
maya glad ecing is working for you, dont think i could do it, it takes jade anywhere up to 15 mins to get a full poo out even when shes not constipated, and i dont have the patience to stand around for that long lol but im glad its working for you. sounds so sweet that she is studying your face with her hands, they are the best sort of moments hey.
skye i think i know that lady, she took some pics of mine too, gosh she does a good job!
oz zoe might be a tummy sleeper, dont blame her its so comfortable.
kelly glad solids are going well for you, and tara has mastered rolling.
lily how are you going?
hi lj how is everything at your end?
cam where are you?
jade loves her toes, grabs them whenever she can, and gets frustrated when you cover her and she cant see them, she looks everywhere for them. solids are working a treat on the reflux, her spewing has decreased significantly, not completely but a million times better. she's constipated, which the pharmacist informed me is most likely from apple as it has pecton(sp?) in it which solidifies everything in her belly, shes having some prune juice, its helped a little the poos are more regular but they are still hard nuggets. so will move to coloxyl if she doesnt improve today, poor little thing. she grabs everything in sight, goes cross eyed looking at it then jams it in her mouth. makes it hard when feeding as she likes to push my boob back, have a good old stare then pull it in her mouth.. dont think shes realised its attached to me yet.. also likes to grab a handful of booby flesh and give it a good old squeeze while shes sucking.
shes teething which has given us some nasty inconsolable screaming fits that last for hours, but other than that shes such a happy, gorgeous little thing. shes 7.8kg, so rather large but shes long too and in proportion. so mostly were in 0s with a few 00s still lingering. SOS is still working well here, so far we have slept through every night since 6 weeks, touchwood, hoping that continues.
hi to all ive missed, hope ur gorgeous bubbas are well.
Pears are better to give than apple because they are soft and more easily digested :) Pectin is what's used in jam to set it!
Dammit, gotta go again...
yeah thats why i cut the apple & only give pear, who would have thought apples could cause so much pain! So much for an apple a day hey
Thanks gals - shall be trying the pear next!
Serenit was 5.44kg today yay up almost 4kg since birth ...
Sorry what's ecing I have no idea?
Heavenly google elimination communication.
or even search Elimination Communication on BB - there's a few of us who do it and the most recent thread on it gives you a good idea of what it's about :) ALso known as Natural Infant Hygiene. Your DH's abuela probably used it with her kids, I know mine did ;)
Thanks Jen  You seem to be the only one who answers me here.
I've been ok, struggling, but really pushing myself to be better - Hope your ok and how's everything going with little miss?
Aww, LJ - I feel like I'm hitting and running in here all the time, no time for decent responses, that's why my quick notes appear on FB instead, where it's not so rude to hit and run!!
Wouldn't ya know it, young master is asking for more food and I have to go again, before he wakes his sister up
Hi Jen, I also make sure Tara has pears as well to make sure no constipation occurs although so far she hasn't had any problems. As for the rolling.... ahhhh she will be on the move very soon.... Tara only rolls one way, to the left, she has started to work out how to get from her tummy to back but not yet mastered it. But I don't think it will take long which means rolling to the left all the time, which means able to move around. I think DH will be baby proofing the house this weekend.
She has even tried rolling over in the cot in her sleep, and has woken herself up grrr. So I have had to resort to using the 'safe sleeper' which we used when we first put her in the cot to stop her rolling. Although on the cooler nights she sleeps in a sleeping bag, which restricts her ability to get her legs over so that helps is some way as well.
Hope you are all doing well, it is so interesting to hear how everyone is developing..
kelly i use one too as jades a side sleeper without it, i could prob do without it now shes older & can control her head.
Lj were good, its all so interesting & frustrating & hard for us all, dont feel like your alone its a very demanding job being a mummy.
Hi all
Just dropping in to let you know that baby proofing the house has begun... including the installation of barrier gates. Why, you may ask?? Well, Tara has decided that she is getting the hang of how moving is going to be accomplished so we think in the near future she will be on the move, albeit slowly at first but wanted to be prepared.
Apart from now attempting to roll from her tummy to her back (after she has rolled to her tummy in the first place) and only to the left, means that once she gets the hang of that then rolling will commence in earnest. Plus the new trick, if you are on your tummy and can't roll anywhere why not pull you legs up under you. Freak... once she gets some strength in her arms liftoff will occur of the crawling variety.
Also solids are going really well here, now on 2 solid feeds a day (along with her usual bottles) and any new flavour offered are being taken without drama. Fingers crossed she stays a NON fussy eater.
Hi all hope your all doing well.
Kelly glad to hear solids are going so well. My DS was a great eater until he turned two lol.
How is everyone else going?
DD is currently fighting off a nasty chest infection, it is horrible seeing her so sick. The antibiotics are doing the trick though so hopefully it clears up quickly. We are off to Sydney this weekend, cross your fingers for me that both children behave on the mamoth drive lol.
Erybery I might give you a call while I am in your neck of the woods and we can catch up.
How horrible, Oz :( I can totally empathise.
Kelly - I love the gate-buying stage...not! We went away for the weekend and stayed in a place with a pool. DS scaled the pool fence. Nuf said. Grrrr!!
DD is going well - was a bit unwell last week and still velcro baby, so I've ordered an amber teething necklace, and one for me. She's crawling, albeit backwards, and with no great speed about it (thank goodness!) and does seem to like her push ups. She's not nearly as pesky as DS was, so I have some reprieve.
Better go and catch up with emails - have a massive inbox after not loggin on since last Thursday night!
Hi Ladies - very quick pop in. Sorry I have being absent for so so so so long. Sounds like everyone is progressing nicely. Things are ok here but Luke hates the computer so it makes it hard to get on whilst he is around and when he's finally asleep DH is hogging it and I am trying to do some housework.
Luke started rolling last week, loves his feet but is not sleeping at all through the night. In fact I think he is getting worse. I may have to try your SOS Jen. We are doing gymbaroo ( I love it too!) and swimming lessons which are fun.
Anyway the little man is due for a feed so I will be off, but hope to get back in here a lot sooner!
XOXO to all of you.
cam just want to point out that sos is not for everyone, or every baby id hate to say its going well for me & another mother has hell with it so borrow it & read first u may not like it. Sorry to hear that, i hope u start to get some sleep soon
Hi Gals!
Very exciting, so many little ones on solids now!
Oz, sorry to hear your little one is sick. Poor little thing. Hope your trip to Sydney goes well, enjoy!
Ery- Gymbaroo, a job opportunity, that sounds exciting! What a great environment to work in.
Jen- I hear you about the boobie squeezes, DD has just started that and then smiles so big all the milk spills out the sides of her mouth. Great that the solids have helped Jade's reflux as well, that must be a relief.
Heavenly- Great growing that little Serenity is doing! Thats fantastic. Love kittys name too, I had a budgie called 'bird' when I was a kid lol.
Liz- you ok hon? I hope everything is ok xx
Maya- Way to go T on the backwards crawling! DD just started backward worming today, I dunno if that even makes sense but she wiggles on her belly backwards for about 3 metres- does that count?!?!
Kelly- Tara looks so happy in her highchair like a big girl! Great to hear the solids are going well.
Cam- Sorry to hear Luke isnt much of a sleeper, I tried the SOS with DD and honestly I was one of those ones it just didnt work for, I didnt like it at all but then I didnt try very hard with it either. DD hates the computer too, isnt that funny, its not something you would think would be such a big deal but it must annoy them in some way!
My big story for the day is, today I was able to put Mimey's hair in a pigtail with a proper hair band, have always used clips and tried a band once but it had to be tight and I didnt want to hurt her head but today it was the real thing! A part on the side and a real little pigtail :leap:. We are hanging out on starting solids too atm!
Hi everyone I have missed x
awww LD id give anything to be able to put either of my girls hair up!!!! Iz has nothing at all!!! just a fine whispy covering. DD1 has a fair bit of hair now but it wasnt till she was about 18 months that i could start putting clips in it. she's almost 4 and her hair only comes to her shoulders because her ringlets are so tight! it hasnt got enough weight in it yet to fall so she looks a little ronald mcdonaldish!! and she hates having her hair tied up too!!
so so jealous!
We just can't win, huh? T's hair is great for tying up in either a clip or tiny bands, but DS pulls them out as soon as he can! Just cos he doesn't like HIS hair tied up...grrr!
Teething necklace is on backorder (in the colour I wanted), so playing the patient waiting game for it to turn up and see if it makes a diff - hoping mine will give me back some much-needed Zen!
Glad to hear we're mostly going well. How many of you have read Pinky McKay's stuff? I have found it supremely helpful and liberating :)
I am actually starting to get my Zen back, slowly but surely - just able to take a step back (with DP gone for a few days for work!!) and start discarding a few things that snuck into my parenting toolbox that I most definitely don't want. Mainly for DS, but really wanting to lose the yelling cos DD doesn't need to be surrounded by angst :( Plus, my voice was husky on the weekend and I was really afraid it was permanent, but it's coming good now, thank goodness!
I went to bed far too late last night so tonight I'll tuck in with some mags and books (all on building, landscape stuff and an Amnesty mag for variety!), to make up for the frenzy of productivity I had.
Hope we all have a good night and lovely weekends :)
Skybie...ringlets how gorgeous!!!! My mum had ringlets as a little girl but DD has the same hair I had when I was born, when she was first born it was very dark and stood straight up on end like a cartoon that has been electrocuted! It stayed that way for 9 weeks. DH bathed her for the first time and when he came back it was there in all its glory . She also had 'frosted' tips on the end, needless to say my hairdresser aunty is extremely impressed! She had her 1st haircut last week as it is very knotty atm. Some people find out at their ultrasounds the sex of their baby, we found out 'it' had hair lol!
Maya, DS certainly sounds like he knows what he wants is little sis to have! Hope your amber beads work, they work wonders for us here. DD has been cross cutting and has 3 teeth cut but wont come any further than breaking the gums and sittihg there. But I have found the beads are just fantastic! Brings back those smiles everytime!
Enjoy your weekend ladies x
Im gonna be a thread hog here BUT......C'mon girls WHERE ARE YOU ALL???? Its awful lonely in here at the moment and Im missing you all! :)
I've been thinking of you all in the last 24 hours especially - LD, we must be on the same wavelength!!
Not much time to post - been flat out between DS, DD, packing the house and dealing with colds (and now, today, a burst ear drum from an infection I didn't even know DD had...prolly cos she's wearing her amber necklace ;) )
Be back when I get a clear chance to write more than 3 sentences...
Hey LD, I meant to post in here the other day. We just got back from a big trip away. Both kids were awesome on the 11 hour drive, especially considering they were sick.
We have started DD on some solids, not much just a little bit every few days, she demolished it all today so might do a bit of a cook up this weekend and stock up the freezer. DD is trying very hard to get up on her knees lately, she is super determined.
How is everyone else?
ETA ouch Maya a burst ear drum? Poor little T, I hope she is better soon I know how horrible it is when they are sick. The amber necklaces are great though aren't they.
Well my grandad had his 3rd stroke and a week later passed and we had his funeral yesterday so I'm feeling like crap, still all booby no solids here but almost into 000
Heavenly sorry for y our loss hun
Oh Heavenly I am so sorry for your loss hun . Gosh Serenity is growing so well, 000's thats amazing!
Oz- I cant believe you did an 11 hour trip. Way to go you Wonder woman! DD can go a whole 2 hours then thats the end of that and shes all bored and wants to get out and play! How great is that with the getting up on her knees!!!! Doing the same here, got up but then her big fat tummy pulls her down again :D
Maya- I see your amber beads arrived!!! Great news. At least Im on someones wave length atm! Busy time moving. Hope Miss T gets better really soon!
That got you all going, c'mon everyone else Im missing you all too
LD did any of those little teeth pop through yet? I wonder who will have the first little toothy pegs appear?
Both asleep, woo hoo!
Heavenly - How sad for you and your family :( it must have been wonderful for you to have him for so long, and for the kids to have known him. DP lost his granddad a year and a half ago and he was so active, it's still hard to believe he's gone, or how quickly he was felled. I went to a funeral of a family friend the other week and he was a great granddad - boy, was he loved, and absolutely cherished by his grandies and great-grandies! I hope i make it to old age and surrounded by the progeny of my progeny. I hope his was a wonderful life  000! T is straddling 0 already :( all those 000 she never got to wear!
Oz - No teeth here yet; T is soooo wanting to try food, and I'm such a meanie cos I won't give her any :p she's nice and round and tough(what that girl's been through with her brother overly-loving her!!) so far and it's all on booby milk...it ain't broke and she can wait at least 6 full months, he he! She'll devour solids, I reckon, not like her brother (not that it did him any harm to wait till about 10 months to properly eat something...or did it???). And yeah, I can't believe the burst ear drum, either :( No wonder she was so waky last night, and so sleepy today (though I'm not ruling out concussion!!).
T is thinking she can walk already - gets up to a push up position, then downward dog, and creeps her hands towards her feet till she loses balance and comes down on her belly, defeated by the whole learning-to-stand caper...keep trying to tell her crawling and sitting are supposed to come first, so I guess she has to figure it out alone and not listen to my voice of reason. Walking's for th weak, anyway - I'll be impressed the day she pops her pony into canter and over a tree log ;)
LD - yes, love my necklace!! I'm glad I waited for my preferred colour, we rock, now - so much so that DS is offended I didn't order him one (and deigned to wear his shark tooth necklace that T was wearing for about, oh, two hours, before I had to take it off again at his request!). I'm not allowed to, though, cos DP says he'll break it whilst swinging from something or other. Probably true, too.
Got some BabyLegs at Mothers Direct the other day adn they are rocking my world (20% off, too, for subscribers to ABA!), so my cooler weather ECing issues are just about sorted. With all our cardigans, too, my issues with all the bodysuits we had from DS will be old news - singlets and cardis are warm enough when she's in the sling, or even wrapped in the buggy. She's peeing on cue and when she's not sick doing her poos in the morning, mostly - pretty predictable, making it easy to go out and not deal with smeary bums :) She's also starting to hold on - held on today at the doctor till I got back outside to cue her, big long wee ensued that she'd been saving and hoping I'd remember!
I can't believe she's nearly 6 months old. I keep catching myself imagining DS at the same age and wondering if I was as besotted with him...of COURSE I was, I was pathetic. Soon we'll be in at MiL's and I'll have plenty of time to admire her and spend time with her, instead of hoping she'll sleep so that I can pack just one more box.
Packing - my clothes are just ridiculous! I've got clothes I don't fit into anymore and probably never will, and out of those there are some I'll optimistically keep. I've got clothes that are too big, but the pessimist in me says 'keep, you'll kick yourself if you don't' and then there's the stuff that fits that I never wear but might want to when I want to do gardening, revegetation, house rendering etc (but I HATE looking sloppy, so may just have to dirty up some nicer, but more worn clothes that can't be dressed up anymore...so shallow!!). Getting there, though.
From here on in our babies are going to get into all sorts of hijinx - Cam, Vee, Nina, Skybie, LJ, Jen, and our other AWOLs, please report :)
I'm still here as well, just finding time to post is getting harder when Tara now wants to stay awake longer during the day.
No toothies here as yet, just one very determined child who wants to sit up, stand up (when supported) and try and generally move about. Although not succeeding at any as yet. Still taking solids, although some days she will have lots and others not too much so I just play it by ear to see how she goes.
We have now banished the dummy as well for sleep times, it used to be the only thing to help her setttle to sleep but she has now decided that her thumbs are much better. I'm one mummy who has no issue with thumb sucking as now at night she can settle herself back to sleep without our help . Still getting a good 12-13 hours of night time sleeps and generally 3 45min-1hours sleeps through the day as well.
Also Tara is all booked in to start swimming lesson at the beginning of next school term, so between swimming, Mothers Group and Playgroup my calander is starting to look pretty full now.
Anyway, I'm better get some breakfast before little miss wakes up for hers. Take care everyone.
