hey all
still here -just watching *shifty*
saffi - i gave james his toothbrush before he had teeth. he has watched DH brush his teeth when they're in the shower for 7 months, so he was dying to have a go. he gets a bit of paste and he hangs onto it while they shower. he does a cursory brush and dh finishes it at the end. dh puts his thumb on james' chin and then does the bottom ones... he also does the part where the top ones are coming through.
i say, 'brusha brusha' when he's in the bath and i do my best to chase him round to brush.
speaking of top teeth... finally the top left popped through. thank god. the kid has been awful at night. the hot weather hasn't been helping.
he's standing on his own all the time now and shifting weight. he's definitely plotting how to get moving but he spooks himself when he shifts too much weight off one foot. it's cute.
he also stands up and dances to the night garden theme tune. bending his knees in time. it's so damn cute it makes me want another one. *shock*
also, dh revealed on saturday (after a couple of beers) that he wants another one "just like james"...
eeeeek.
*bats away dh with broom*
(secretly i've got the ticking back again... gah!)
nooooooo.
i would like at least a few months sleep before i try that **** again.
hope all the babes are well...

LOL Viv, sounds like #2 isn't that far away for you...How gorgeous bopping along to In the Night Garden! K loves to clap along, he still can't stand yet!
Kazaraz - Yay, your ticker works! Taygan is soooo cute :)
Oh, I forgot to mention earlier - K is BITING me now when I B'feed him, OUCH! I can't help but yell out "ouch" because he draws blood. K then screams his head off and our feeding session comes to an abrupt end. He knows he shouldn't do it, but he does. What do I do? I am thinking it might be time to wean? It makes me want to cry, we have nearly made it to 12 months, I would be so sad if I have to wean him before then :(
-
Afternoon all!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends.
I had a great time down at the baby shower. I also got a little shopping done which was handy. Its always good going to see mum n my brothers too and this w/e I got to see my 8.5 y/o nephew too which was fantastic! Went down Fri and came back last night. I usually stay longer cuz I think its a little unfair to have Tiera in the car for 4hrs each way, but I think I have been away from home enough lately.
Celtic - That sounds terrible that the daycare centre left him in such warm clothes in the heat of the day! You poor thing that must have ben scarey. Hope Ryan is feeling much better now
Nickers - Middle ear infections are terrible! Have you noticed it effecting his balance at all??? I hope he's on the mend.
Alz - I too will be starting to give Tiera brekky when she wakes up n milk for morning tea soon. The only thing is when she has her milk bottle of a morning she drifts back off to slep and if I get her up she gets quite cranky, but I igure like any routine change, it'll take a little work, but we'll get there! :D
Becky - I think it'd get all upset if that was my little one crying out for me when I left him. Great to hear he enjoyed Kindy! It doesn't take them long to work out how much fun it is.
MissKate - That motel sounds discusting!! Its terrible to think that things were so durty ur lil man couldn't even crawl around! I once went to someone's house like that... I was going to an ABA (Breastfeeding asso) meeting and the lady's floor was covered in dog hair, she knew she had gess and never even bothered to vacuum!
Kaz - I love your ticker pic! It is just gorgeous
Trish - Thats terrible what your FIL did to you poor MIL. It must be hard for them being seperated like that, but things would be even worse when he does things like that!
NT - Thats so cute he dances! Tiera has just started to boogie a lttle when music comes on the TV.... I play music all day every day, but she only does it when its on the TV!!! lol
I hope I haven't missed anyone. :D
Take care all. Hope everyone has enjoyed their day
-
Trish- big hugs, can you use those nipple protector things? Sorry I don't know much about breast feeding but I hope it works out *hugs*
I see some people are starting on moo milk, just thought I'd ask if there was a special kind you were giving them or just normal milk? I was under the impression moo-milk before 2 yrs old was bad for them but can't for the life of me remember why or how I came to that conclusion lol.
How much do your babies eat? I ask the dr how much Ryan should have and they all say it varies from baby to baby. Ryan eats approx:
1 x 120g tin baby fruit
2-3 small pieces steamed brocolli/small cup of steamed mixed veggies
1 small slice cheese
1 100g tub baby yogurt
3 chicken nuggets/2 fish sticks
3 arrowroot biscuits
Few mouthfuls of mum & dad dinner if able
Some days he will eat all that and drop a bottle, other days he only wants some yogurt, some nuggets and has his usual bottle. Is that too much? Too little? Ryan's lost a bit of weight on the last visit. He still has 4 full bottles and does one big poop every morning but sleeping less than he used to.
-
Celtic How scary, Hope Ryan is better now.
Nic-Hope Ty feels better soon.
Trish Ouch on the boobie biting, hope you can both hang in there till 12 months.
I wanted o find out the gender at 12wks, so i can imagine i'll crack at the 20wk u/s lol
AFM- It was Mum's birthday yesterday, The nursing home was nice enough to lets us have lunch with her, they even set up a table in the foyer so Maddi could run around & not get cranky.
So that was nice.
Hard to believe the Monkey will be 1 in 3 days.
Not really anything else interesting happening at the moment.
Hope everyone is well.
-
saffi, that sounds great. i will look into it
-
trish - that is so sad about the biting. i'm scared of that too, especially now that top #1 has come through.
the babylove woman says they are just testing them out - which i imagine is fairly irresistible really. she says end the feed right away and don't put them back on for a few hours.
tracey hogg says: "say, ouch, don't bite mummy, that hurts"
GP says, "it often only takes one bite and breastfeeding is over"
my sis says... try as hard as you can not to scream because you can trigger a feeding strike. she says it's part of it (4 babies and multiple years later). she persisted through spaghetti nipples (ouch).
can't say i would be game to venture back into the jaws of death - and i would totally understand if you did wean now. sad but sometimes necessary.
-
Hi Amelia, havent seen u around here for a while!
a girl that i sell Tupperware with had a party Lite party recently and i bought a stack! my neighbour in melb had a party a while back and i loved the scents, very nice candles and things, hope you do well
Trish- ouch to the biting, not sure what to do there Nixon started biting me but i think cause my supply was getting real low and we stopped bf not long after. hope you can make it to 12month but if you cant youve already done so well!
-
Thanks Viv, I want to stick it out, but it hurts so much. I know I shouldn't react, but it comes as such a shock that I can't help but yell out sometimes . I feel so tender all the time now so it makes me tense each time I feed him. We just had the same episode repeat itself before. I tried not to make a big deal about it, but he still screamed and refused to feed. I'll keep persisting for a few more days and then I might ring my MCHN and see what she suggests. Oh, I keep meaning to ask - Are you still moving to Melb?
Thanks Nic, what age did you stop feeding Nixon?
Mo - Your mum and my MIL share the same b'day! It was also SIL's due date yesterday so there could have been another one born on the 21st! Wow, 3 days to Maddi's b'day, I can't believe it!!
Tiff - Glad you had a nice time on the weekend!
Celtic - I'll get back to you about the amount K eats soon, he is now being a crank on the floor so I've gotta go!
-
Trish I feel your pain hun! Myles was biting heaps but has stopped thank god! He occaisonally does it to get my attention but i just tell him he hurt me then he cuddles me awww! Stick with it hunny he wont do it forever!
Will be back later to catch up am about to start dinner if the monkey will let me! also i have put up pics of the fancy dress party on FB if anyone wanted a squizz!
xx

OK, I know it's rude to just breeze in and say this but...
Trish - the biting comes and goes, usually with teething. It does pass. L has had about 3 stints of biting. So don't throw in the towel just yet if you aren't ready to wean. It passes quickly. DD did the same thing.
ABA advice is to firmly say 'no biting' and plonk them down on the floor ending the feed. Didn't work straight away with L but it did work.
He's a biter though, I'm sporting a bruise on my forearm where he just decided he'd have a mung...preschool's gonna be fun
BBL properly when I get a chance.
-
ok so have time to catch up properly!
Kate what an awful motel! did you complain? where abouts were you?
Saffi we have been brushing Myles teeth since they started appearing. We are in a clinical trial with QLD dental and we were told to brush with a small toothbrush and baby toothpaste quarter of a pea size! We brush his teeth then let him play with it!also am thinking of heading to the library on Thursday for rhyme time are you going? the yoga looks cute too!
Trish had a great time at the party! Nearly everyone dressed up which was fun! omg your FIL does sound a bit mean! Hope your MIl had a nice day though!
Mo omg 3 days:dance:! i cant believe how quickly time goes! So glad you and your mum could have a nice birthday!
Celtic Myles has really different days! One day he might eat heaps, like pasta, fruit, bickies, bread etc then other days he will just want more boob and not much food! So probably just go with the flow! probably doesnt help much hey:redface: Myles does swimming too and he loves it! Good luck with getting him in!
Tiff sounds like you had great time away!
Viv Myles dances to the night garden too its adorable! Hmmm maybe you will be popping another one out soon lol:p!
Dragonbub! Aww a sailor how adorable! Myles didnt really like the wings too much but mean mummy made him wear them lol
Becky i love your ticker pic too cute! I hope this week will be a bit easier for you with liam at kindy!
Alz way to go ethan:clap:! how exciting!
Nick hope your boys get better soon! What a scare that must have given you!
Amelia woohoo Rhys on walking what a clever boy! I bought some party light stuff a while ago i love their tea lights, especially geranium!
Kazaraz your ticker is great! What a gorgeous pic!
Willow hi hows things?
Hi to anyone i missed!
Phew that was a lot to get down!
We went to Australia Zoo yesterday! It was a great day! Lovely and hot! Myles loved all the birds and the elephants! Wasnt too keen on the tiger character thing! He loved the lil farm thing they had and was patting the goats!
I really dont want to jinx myself but he is sleeping so well now! He is still waking maybe twice a night but he is easy to get to sleep and to resettle which is making me feel better too!
The fancy dress party was so much fun! I felt a million bucks! i had some extension put in that just clip in and i can keep which is cool cause i loved my hair long! Of course DH drank waaay to much but he doesnt get to do too much cause he is always working so i didnt mind well maybe a little. My brother went as the joker(heath ledger) and was so darn scary!
Anyway better go! I think I have taken up enough room

amber i was at a family reunion in wondai which is out past kingaroy
-
 I am still laughing at ninja_turtle comment about i would like at least a few months sleep before i try that **** again. Very funny. I didnt think sleep is something you get ever again .. or does it just feel like that??
Thanks for your help Trish in setting up the ticker. I love that pic of Tay as well, she is at the stage of playing up for the camera. My 2 year is at the stage where she runs away from the camera! Although when Tay starts doing something that we think is cute, I am noticing Mia will do it as well ... like eating banana. Mia has never liked banana, so when Tay actually ate some we were pretty excited about it ... needless to say, Mia ate half a banana as well. Anything you can do ... I think!
I read your messages about the biting with breast feeding .. ouch! I have never been able to breastfeed, but can imagine this would be really painful. I hope that its a short lived issue. The kids sometimes seem to get a new thing, only for it to go out of the window in a few days. I will cross my finger that this is the case Trish!
-
Hey all
Celtic - the guidelines I have read say that bubs should only have full fat dairy products up until 2 years old, can have milk mixed in with things like sauces and cereal from about 9 months and as drink at 12 months.
Kate - I stayed in a motel in Wondai too (one on the main road Kingaroy side). Wasn't too bad but certainly not the Hilton.
Amber- not going to the Library this week as have another appointment but wasn't going anyway because of school holidays.
Trish - ouch! Don't have any advice for you but hope that he stops it soon.
Kaz - I love the photo of Tay. My boss was telling me that his 6 year old still wakes him in the middle of the night. Will it ever end? Then we'll be up in the middle of the night waiting for them to come home from a party etc....
Viv - me thinks maybe you're the one having twins in your dreams. Ticking? Is that your biological clock? You're still a spring chicken! Going to have to try a bit harder with the teeth brushing.
Hi to everyone else.
Biting - L has got a bite mark on his arm. I suppose that one of his playmates at daycare bit him. Was going to go in to the centre and take impressions for comparison LOL.
-
Trish - Tiera started biting me at 5 months and although she never had teeth she would pull back until the nipple slipped out of her mouth and she'd take the nipple skin off! I went to the Dr as I got Mastitus and he couldn't believe the state of my nipple!!! lol one prob led to another and I had to wein her which was very sad. I think now that the little ones are older they would be more responsive to you telling the 'no' or ouch or what ever it is you choose to say. I wish you all the best of luck with it all.
Boomba - I saw ur pics from the zoo on facebook and they are very cute! Aust. zoo is fantastic. We went up to Noosa for our honeymoon a couple of yrs ago and we went there an loved it. It was a month after Steve died so it was all a bit sad.
Sorry im a little strapped for time so hi everyone else. Hope everyone had a great night
-
trish - i've remembered something else my sis said about biters... if you look right at them for the whole feed and watch what the tongue is doing. they have to retract the tongue to get a good bite, so be at the ready with the pinky finger.
i remember james doing this with his gums, giving me a good nyung or two. it was because i was looking round the room, reading or whatever. once i focused on him again and sniffled at his hand or whatever, he stopped it.
god help us all if he takes to teeth biting.
babies... well, i've changed my mind. that was quick. i looked around my house yesterday, and it's a tip. there are so many things i just don't get to ... and how exactly will a newborn enable me to get to those things or cope? it won't.
i am nuts.
the urge to babify is ridiculous and illogical. stupid primal yearnings. it just rumbles away underneath the logical brain... saying... just do it....
so, no.. baby off menu for time being.
*looks at clean washing mountains to be folded*
*looks at last week's folded washing in baskets to be put away*
*looks at cakey legs of high chair to be scrubbed*
*looks at inside of eyelids*
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
we were up 4 times again last night. my guesses are:
1. the top #2 is doing what #1 did last week (destroy fabric of household)
2. he's working on walking which apparently increases separation anxieties....
bleh.

You guys are talking about No 2 and we are trying for No 3 ... I am starting to wonder if I am crazy?
I just dont feel done ... and to think the next one will be it for babies (probably) makes me really sad. To have no little babies in the house is a prospect I dont like. BUt as my husband says, we cant have them for the rest of our lives. So the debate in our household of me wanting 3 and my husband wanting 5 still continues, and something tells me we wont be stopping at 3 and I will end up as a family of 4! But to be honest, it doesnt phase me. I can think of nothing better than being surrounded by our kids!
The only thing that could upset me is that we have twins, I dont think I would cope. My grandfather is a twin and my husband's brother just had twins ... scary!
