Pam I sent you a message as a VBAC girl myself and the crap they scared me with on Eireann so I hope it helps. but I could really tear that OB a whole new ******** as my DH would say!!! what a horrible doctor to put pressure on you like that and stress and scare you as that what he has done. does he not want to be on call and have to make a trip to the hospital if you go yourself. I agree with Mel check out the VBAC section and I hope that helps ease your concerns (hugs) oh and cant wait to see you on facebook it is easy enough you just have to register and set your page to private including pictures.

Well, I had to take today off because the woman who normally looks after DS for me was sick herself. It's hard having no back up support person. Just hoping now that DS doesn't come down with gastro too!

Missymoo, I have been patroling the VBAC threads for months now which had given me the confidence to try, but it becomes reallyhard when your OB is'nt supportive and very scary..part of it is that it is VBA3C!!! So there is'nt stats and he does'nt like that.


Well things have'nt improved for me..in fact I have become more stresseed, I had a meltdown in th e OB's office call DH an "ask your mother for 6 pence" in front of the OB!!! Tell the OB that he can only see B&W and see the grey areas and basically get up and walk out...I am so embrassed now but at the time it was way to much, did you know that chilbirth is'nt that painful and my pain thersehold possiblly is lower than someone elses??? that it is'nt unreasonable to expect to be left to labour for another 4 hours even though there is no progress, they just need to be sure that I am really in labour??? What the!!!!! Why is it that men are OB's I have been wondering that more often lately and I love how you can be expert when you have never done it, no-one can describe that kind of pain to you..to be honest giving birth anyway scares the living daylights out of me. Because of the unknown factor to my dates the 29th March or the 4th of April I have decided to book a CS for the 6th April, I am still hopin gto go into labour beforehand..but I am not prepared to take the risk of going another week ??? next CS would be the 13th April, a bit far away from my date of 29th March, yes I probablly would go into labour before that...but??? have had a baby 3 weeks overdue and she was quite sick, even though she was monitered showing lots of movements, she had lost weight and looked terrible, DD 4years was 10 days overdue and her placenta had started to breakdown, not pretty. So after all the stress and hoping this little girl would be okay, I don't want to risk it at this stage.
The OB sent me to see the anethesist to talk over some concerns I have..(with DS the spinal block went to high and I struggle with my breathing and swallowing, a very frightening experience that I am not keen to repeat...put it this way you might as well put me in the physc ward, and the major reason why I am reluctant to go straight to CS) with DD I had an epi, while in labour so when a CS was required they just used it, with a bit of local cause I was'nt quite numb enough. Poppy's was by far the best I was able to move my legs and had feeling in my boobs etc, the block was basically thighs to under boobs, which I think was perfect...so I toodle along thinking I am just going to order that!!!!! Wrong!!! not how it works apparently???
This anethesist informs me that it is a rare occurence the breathing problems but it does happen and it can be so bad that you have to have your breathing taken over etc, basically life support and it can last 24hours or so,mine was not so bad cause it only lasted into the hours????? I just wanted to scream Oh my God are you kidding me, I don't want it to happen at all...the last thing I wanted to hear and has only scared, scarred me more.
He then tells me that they will compare what blocks I had and try to find something inbetween, I don't want something inbetween I want to move my legs and be able to breathe, he prefers to give a bit more block than another docs, becuase once surgery starts it can't be topped up, and if you don't have enough it is very painful!!! all they can do is give you local into/around the cut and in the worst case scenario they have to knock you out.
All I can think is that sounds a Hell of a lot better than the other option, I would rather take my chances with less than more. I am praying that i don't get him as nice as he was...I am not keen on his method ( best case scenario it won't kill you..his words...versus a general which can..I"m thinking I won't know I'm dead if i'm asleep, but I would wish i was dead if I could'nt breath /swallow easily for an indefinate period of time.)
If I go into labour and have an epi..this is'nt an issue...the issue is that the pain rrelief might not be enough and you could need local or might have to be knocked out if that does'nt work, again a far better option in my opinion????!!!!
So I come home, feeling very upset and wishing I had'nt seen him, then struggle to sleep waking up about 1am bawling my eyes out, I get up and try and think clearly about what to do next who I need to speak to etc, btu can't find the solution??? All I can think is I am going to beg whoever it is to give me less and not let that happen to me..I am sure I will bond with my girl if I have a general, I have no doubt I will be bawling at that point so they will understand how scary it is for me an dhopefully will take mercy on me.
Anyway hoping for a good nights sleep and labour to start sometime soon or not??? I am so confused!!!

Pam honey you sound so stressed (((HUGS))) I hope you can find a happy place for you self were you are happy and looking forward to this birth what ever way it happens. you need to relax and take a step back and see that those docs give you the worse case as they want us prepared not bloody great when your expecting a baby you are already worried about, still thinking I would like to box that doctor! set your own plan have your CS date then see about getting her to come out by her self . sweep may be some alternative ways may work. she might surprise you and come along her self. I'm hoping so anyway! so are they against inducing you! Ie using the gel or those tablets or are they scaring you with the ''your womb may rupture'' I got that as well a valid concern all the same but rarely happens. Any way ((((HUGEHUGS))) and fair play to you for standing up to him he deserved it, stupid man and don't be :redface: ok keep us posted on how your getting on not long to go and now you need loads of raspberry leaf tea, BD, hot curry, Sweep, acupuncture works (I had that on DS2 went 10 days over!) some herbal remedies and reflexology work as well, oh and if you can go get a nice pregnancy massage so you can relax before the bigday! xxxx

Oh Pam u do sound very unhappy. I'm really sorry u aren't feeling supprted by ur care givers. It's rough they aren't listening to ur wants and concerns. Can u try some meditation maybe??? Focus on u and bubs for a few moments and regroup?? Big hugs

Pam hope your feeling better but found this information I have been trying to regulate my cycles and get healthier and was taking evening primrose oil and I was taking it the whole way through my cycle and you are not meant to as it causes womb contractions which I was wondering what the hell was wrong with me:rolleyes: but any way it is good to take at the end stages of pregnancy here is some information on it

Pregnancy can be a joyous and exciting time for a woman, but it can also be a time of uncertainty. Most women have experienced the feeling of wondering if they would actually be pregnant forever. When a due date is approaching or has gone by without any signs of labor, doubts can form in a woman’s mind, especially when her doctor or midwife starts talking about inducing labor. Inducing labor using modern methods such as Pitocin is very common today, but some women prefer to try out a few natural methods before resorting to more invasive practices. There are many herbal methods thought to help bring on and enhance labor, as well as a few folk methods such as taking a bumpy ride in a car or eating spicy foods.

Evening primrose oil is a commonly used method of naturally preparing the body for labor. It does not directly induce labor, as commonly believed. Evening primrose oil acts as a prostaglandin, which ripens and softens the cervix. The ripening of the cervix can help the baby’s head engage deeper into the pelvis, which can help with dilation. Ripening the cervix can cause some of the contractions that start labor. Sometimes, though, these contractions are simply Braxton-Hicks contractions, which help prepare the body for labor, but do not mean you are in active labor yet. Ripening the cervix can help trigger the onset of labor, but it is unlikely that evening primrose oil will bring on labor in a woman whose body is not otherwise ready. Even if you end up having to induce labor, using evening primrose oil in the days and weeks prior to induction can still be beneficial. When the cervix has been ripened and softened, induction has a much higher rate of being successful. The ripening of the cervix may even aid in making labor faster and easier.

Evening primrose oil is a less invasive method of triggering labor, so it can be used earlier in the pregnancy than some other methods. As soon as 34 weeks, evening primrose oil can be taken orally. It is generally recommended to take two 500mg capsules a day until 38 weeks. At that time usage can be increased to 3-4 capsules per day. An entire capsule can also be inserted vaginally. It is best to do this before bed, so the capsule can dissolve while you sleep. You can also use the oil during perineal massage, and massage it on the cervix as well. Applying the oil directly to the cervix will produce the best results, but the ingredients in evening primrose oil can also be absorbed through the external skin or stomach.

The body can be stubborn, and even when using all the natural methods of inducing labor that are available, you still may not go into labor right away. The most important thing you can do is relax, since stress itself can delay or even stall your labor. Unless there is a medical reason to worry, don’t be concerned if your due date has come and gone. Even if it doesn’t seem like it, your body and your baby are preparing for labor to begin.

Thanks girls, stress delaying labour its a wonder that I have ever given birth then!!! :) I am feeling a bit better, one of the girl sin my new date group reminded me that I don't have to agree to anything which made me feel more in control, which I think is part of the problem, I might get preg easily enough, it just the rest that I suck at..so its hard to relax wondering how difficult/painful/long it is going to be verus pretty much knowing that things will progress how they are suposed to and having a bit of an idea that youare'nt going to be in labour for 24hours etc.
I bought EPO today and will use them both ways very shortly and I will be having accupunture next week , every second day, then daily. And hope I at least get the chance to try. The kids are all sick at the moment and Poppy is currently crying and coughing DH is taking care of it, in the hope that I don't get sick as well, so hopefully I last another week and they are over it and DH and I don't get it??? Can only hope!!!!

Well EDD for me:My pressie as requested an ouchy Stretch and Sweep, had a bit of blood but I don't think it is going to work, she is very settled in there and I reckon she is following the trend of my girls except Poppy and would go well over if allowed too. So I am nervous, sad and anxious but resigned to my CS on the 6th of April at least it is still school holidays here and I will have all my little visitors everyday which will make mummy a bit happier.

Hi girls, had accupunture this arvo and now have lost my M plug and have backache, feelign heavy and like things could start happening. although would like to hold off till the morning so if I need to go to surgery in a hurry it is availble to me. ( thats the biggest fear uterine rupture...VBA3C)
If you check in tonight keep an eye out for me, I might need to be chatting in here to keep me sane.
