I don't think there is anything wrong with tummy sleeping. By 2 weeks I had had enough of fighting with Ashton, and let him sleep on his tummy and his sleeps improved immensly! Even now, he sleeps on his side in the cot, on a pillow... and I have to wrap him loosly in the blanket, he hates having his hands out. Otherwise he will be up in half an hour.

eeeeek it's so overwhelming seeing how many posts there are sometimes haha. Serves me right for not getting online more often.
We went to Lennox Head with my SIL at New Years and Liberty had her first time of "swimming", well apart from her wading pool anyway, in Lake Ainsworth, she loved it!
Donna - I know I've said it before but Molly is just too cute!! Libby is getting pretty vocal too, I'm not sure our house is ever going to be quiet again!
Captain - I have a breathing monitor that i use when we're not co-sleeping. I use it in daytime too. The only problem is forgetting to turn them off and them going off in the middle of the night but they are so good for peace of mind.
hi Angie, lovely to hear from you again. I really should get onto your thread too and say hi sometime or u should post in here so there's less effort for me hee hee.
I found that when I was at hospital, everyone who had a vaginal birth their stomach went down a lot more than those with a c/s. I had a vaginal birth and my belly is back to normal but unfortunately normal for me resembles buddha.
Pam - I had put on weight after having Liberty. I lost most of it really quickly and then I started eating from frustration, stress, boredom, etc so started to put back on. I've cut back on some of my boredom eating though which has helped.
The body transformation challenge sounds interesting, I might sticky beak and watch. Hubby and I are having a challenge against one another at the moment (he put on sympathy weight when I was preggers haha). Only 5kg at a time. I've already lost 1.3kg (just from cutting back on my boredom eating - how bad is that!) and he's lost nothing so far - I would feel a bit more confident about my odds of beating him if I wasn't addicted to cadbury drinking chocolate mixed with cold soy milk.

blackduckies thanks Ill check it out I might be lucky, is it on Belly Belly Ill have a search,Im so ready to get fit and lose weight, I have my runners, my new britney spears  and Joining ww . I just want to feel nice and slimmer and fitter. I doubt ill ever lose my tummy its awful after a c section and big babies,
Captain I might try Eireann on her tummy, she is finding it really hard to settle in the day only naps here and there. last night was terrible we couldnt sleep with the heat and she fed constantly Im worn out . I have her in her pram on her tummy (its a bassinette) and my Eldest is rocking her just to give me a break dont think its working :(
eej every one says that about that photo it really looks like her hair is red, its craddle cap on the top of her head :D well looking at her Its a mixture of blonde and dark hair. so im wondering what way she will go. I know my DS 3 started with pitch back hair and by 6 months it was blonde, then when he was around two I got it cut and now its dark again. it has blonde highlight from the sun. so you might get the red yet! I had a lovely christmas, I missed my family but we had a lovely day and I have my brother with me .
Lauren I am the same, I am going to try and keep a closer eye on the group .you know we all have been chatting on line for a year now. this time last year we were all finding out about our little babys.
-
ooohhh had to pop back in , my son Adam did it , he has Eireann fast asleep on her tummy as well , is he clever or what!! just had to adjust her a little so she can breath properly well more for my peace of mind LOL
talk later girls!
-
When they sleep on their tummies how do you ladies position them? Do you tuck their legs in or arms?
-
I would put Ashtons arms up near his head and just leave his legs, he usually brings them up and has his bum in the air
-
yay!! I got my username changed :) finally got around to it. I'd had it the same as my email addy when I first joined (i used to just read threads) and didn't realise it would be used for posting. Problem was sometimes people would judge my posts for my beliefs and I like to replies for ppl who are going through rough times (often the hardest times for ppl to comprehend "God"). Also whilst I am in no way ashamed of my beliefs (in case u couldn't tell by my email), I prefer people to use my name rather than "isaag"!! Cos although my boobies are never going to be the same again after breastfeeding they're not that bad haha!!
-
HI!!!!
Sorry but this is a bit of a ME ME post (apologies in advance!!)
YAY nathan is gainign weight ! - finally!!!!! He is now 7.02 kilos and is 67.5 cms long wooot woooot wooot thats the 97th for length and i think the 75th for weight! GO MY BOOBIES!!!!!!
I just feel so great about this, my confidence in breast feeding has sky rocketed!
Lauren, like the name change! But i never judged you for your beleifs :):)
-
Lauren, :lol:at Isaag:lol:it was long so people will always cut it shorter. Yes my weight gain is because of tiredness, always grab the sweeties when I feel like that as well as depressed lonely, stressed. I wonder why I put on so much:doh:
Mummatwo, rockin boobies girl. I always thought he was doing well, but I guess it's hard to be sure!!! Glad it's put your mind at ease....
To all you girls have a great day.
-
Wow it's a year to the day that I found out that I was pregnant with Madeleine, I remember it being one of the best days but being so worried that it would all go horribily wrong like the 3 before... but thankfully she was meant to be.
Anyone planned more? I've managed to almost get DH to commit to another bub & i'll start trying in about 10 mths.
I haven't been on for a while, we hosted Xmas & New years and I was so wrecked after all the cooking & cleaning I hadn't any energy... I'm just getting over my flu now
On the bub front, she is doing great. She now sleeps in her cot !!!YAY although she likes to wake more in the night as she thinks it funny... she also never stays in the blankets or wraps as shes found how to push her self around the cot. Was so cute yesterday she was hanging her legs out the side laughing.
Last month she weighed 6.7kg's & was 62 cm's long... so no small fry. Although the reflux is giving us so much hell she just screams with almost all bottles from the acid. We have started farex as recommended by the MCN, we wont be giving her full solids until the recommended 6 months to be on the safe side.
I'll go through all the posts now, hope everyone is well & had a great Xmas season
-
Wow, it's amazing when you read some posts on BB how many people sleep their babies on their tummies.
CJ, I'm not suprised you have no energy with all that going on. I think I've got DH wanting a third bub, but we've both agreed to wait a couple of years, so it will probably be another 3 year age gap. Though I think I would like to try and not have another September bub!
Mummatotwo, yeah for the boobies! Fantastic weight gain.
Lol, I know what you been about the name change. I've thought about changing mine because I don't think most people get it, especially since I've taken my name out of my sig. (I was named after the band the Captain and Tenille:lol:) Haven't decided what I want to change it to yet. Though I must admit I'd never noticed the ISAAG before:lol:
Eej, I put Ashlyn down with her hands near her head because she likes to suck on her fingers. She usually works her legs out for herself.
Pam, I never thought that the c/section could make such a difference to my tummy, but I guess it makes sense. I had definately lost a lot more weight at this stage last time with a vag birth.
Niamh, hope it works for you and you're able to get some rest. I'm still paranoid about it because of the sids thing though.
Well I'd better be off, I promised Danielle we would go for a swim as soon as Ashlyn goes for a nap so I'd best get ready.
-
Captain I hope you enjoyed your swim! I want to take Ashton to the pool when it's hot, but do you have to wait until they have their 6 month needles??
Niamh, I hope the tummy sleeping worked a treat :)
Lol it took me ages to understand what your name said lol but I didn't judge you ;)
CJ that is great!! Babies are so much fun! I am already longing for another... but I loved being pregnant too and miss that lol
Well Ashton is doing really well! He is now 8.6kg (he's been going up and down lol) and 72 cm long!! I really can't believe it. He has started to do the cuttest thing, he rocks when you hold him lol He thinks its great fun! He has also rolled from his back to his tummy now :) I was shocked cos I was changing him and he did it, cheeky monkey!
His dad is over the moon, I am so happy! He has been here almost every day (I think there has been 2 days where he hasn't come) to see him. He even txt me and said when he leaves he wants to cry because he misses him so bad... and this guy just isn't emotional!
Can't believe he is almost 4 months old!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Mel, thats wonderful that his dad is so into him!! I dont know too much about your story in regards to the daddy, but yay for him!
72cms? what was he at birth? Thats a very very long bub! does he look 4 months old? or closer to 1 year old hahaha!
Captain, how was the swim? I am so loving taking the kids to the pools. We got a pretty cool present from our families this year - a 2 year pass to both dreamworld and white water world, so i think there will be lots of swimming and rides over the next couple of years.
Pam, nath was always doing "ok" but there were many weeks where he was only gaining 20-80 grams, which is ok, just not great gains. It made me doubt my supply as well. So 300+ grams in 10 days is brilliant for us, i am one proud mummy!
How is everyone going with breast feeding still? Are we still motivated?
Is anyone going to start solids at 4 months? We are going to wait as long as possible with nathan, i want to wait until at least 8ish months until his gut is mature enough.
Nathan has been rolling onto his tummy for a couple of weeks now, but gets so ****ty when he is on there because he cant roll back lol so i have to go and rescue him all the time. Its funny to think, but Blake was comando/butterfly crawling at 4.5 months!!
I am more then happy for Nathan to take his time though, i think i will wait for a little bit longer before another baby, so i would like to jsut sit back and take my time with this one. No rush, no bother just cruise and let the milestones happen in their own time.
Also, what does everyone feel about the walkers and jolly jumpers?
-
The swim was beautiful!! I think I might be swimming most days now that it's so hot.
Mel, we have a pool so it's just a quick walk into the back yard, lol. I have taken Ashlyn to the pools though. I had never heard about waiting for the needles. I had started Danielle at 3 months in classes. Haven't been able to get Ashlyn into classes yet, we are still on the waiting list (amazing considering I put her down on the list when she was 10 wks.)
Mummatotwo, what an awesome present. I went to Dreamworld when I was 16 and had the best time. I've been trying to convince DH it would be a great place for a holiday. I've been looking into the baby led solids/weaning, where you skip the mushy foods and go give them soft finger foods. I really like the idea behind it so I might give that a go when Ashlyn is about 6 months.
I have a jolly jumper but haven't used it yet. I think they're fine as long as you don't over do it. I used to put Danielle in it for about 5 minutes at a time and she loved it. Will have to go pull it out of the cupboard.
-
mto2-Yay for Nath! I am still pumping which I'm proud of!
-
OOps pressed post instead of go advanced!
mto2- We are going to wait until 6 months for solids. Emliy seems interested in food, she looks at it going into our motuhs and reaches out but she does that with everything!
Captain-I haven't read much about baby led solids but it sounds interesting. Will have a look.
Mel-So good his Dad is taking a big interest.
CJ-I had a dream last night I found out I was pregnant and due the same time as I had emily. I don't want them that close together! I want to see what sort of toddler Emily is going to be before we decide when to have another one. Madeline weighs the same as Emily, she was 6.7kg yest 200g up from the week before.

thanks ladies for ur comments
i'm getting liberty weighed in a fortnight when she gets her 4 month needles :S hopefully she doesn't crack it like last time!!
we've been thinking about baby number 2 and we have "only child days" where she is really ratty and we think yikes we're only having one but we've decided that if all goes well we'll try for number 2 when she's 10 months old so if i fell pregnant straight away (unlikely as it took me 9 months to fall pregnant with her, i still haven't got my periods back and i've never had regular periods anyway) that she would be about 20 months old when number 2 is born.
glad to hear that nathan is gaining well!! u must be so proud :D (and relieved) that is such a cool pressie from ur family! great idea too :) it'll give u something to do when the boys are restless.
with the rolling - liberty is the opposite, she can roll from tummy to back but not the other way around yet. she can roll onto her side from back but can't quite get over. sometimes on her tummy she does the butterfly/commando crawling. she gets really crappy lying on her back except if the tv is on, if its on she will wiggle around to face it (very cheeky) - does anyone else's baby try and watch tv?
jolly jumpers are ok if their feet can touch the ground flat. you need to try and discourage them from standing on tippy toes (which is a developmental stage anyway that comes before touching with flat feet). too much time with pointed toes however can do something to the muscles in the calf in the leg which is the reason why you try and keep them flat footed. i think for this age they recommend 5 minutes, 3 times a day??
we're also using a "walker" that doesn't walk around, iykwim?? we have a cushion on the bouncing pad for her to press off as she's not tall enough yet and we cushion up around her belly with terry towelling nappies as she's not big enough for it. she loves to look at hte toys on it.
i am cautious with walkers that move around because of iron cords, stairs, etc.
neither the jolly jumper or walkers have been proven to help babies learn to walk faster, but it certainly keeps them entertained!! :)
we tried a bumbo from my SIL but she hates being restricted (hates the car seat too atm which is a nightmare)
so glad to hear mel that his dad is getting involved a little more! should take lots of photos for bubby's sake.
i have heard about waiting for needles but we figured she had her 2 month and birth shots already. she's swam in my MIL's pool, our wading pool and the lake. She's going to swimming lessons in a fortnight which is exciting for me - something to do! although not looking forward to any kind of driving around as liberty screams - its awful.
as for breastfeeding, like i said on facebook to u jen its kind of going pear shaped as liberty's refusing the breast most of the time which is upsetting. she also prefers to look around then to feed most of the time anyway and so even with formula her average intake is about 70ml (rather than the recommended 200ml). suprisingly though she is still looking like she's fattening up even though she doesn't eat much. oh and teething is just adding to the dilema as when she does breastfeed she's on and off and pulling at the nipple. but my goal is to have her fully breastfed again by the time she starts solids which will be around 24 weeks?
anyway i'm off to ask questions in another forum about co-sleeping...
-
Lauren- Emily loves TV...she will struggle to turn and watch it, she takes after her mother which is a worry! I love tv! I have cut back so she doesn't learn to talk with an american accent like a friend of mine's little boy does cause he watches so many movies and tv shows!
Speaking of facebook if any wants to add me as their friend I'm Erin Johnstone. My profile pic is one of me and Emily. I think I'm the first one that comes up.
