if any one is intested i just set up a web address for caitlyn, you will need a password which is under my signature
Hi girls,
I'm just hungry all the time for junk food. Lucky there isn't any around the house or I would be the size of a house! I just crave sugar all the time, like in preg, everyday when Df gets home from work I ask him if he's bought me a chocky!
I wish my little one would take the dummy, when she's in that wanting to suck mood I've tried it out a few times and she usually spits it out, only once its worked. She gives me this look too of disgust telling me I can't fool her but it does distract her from booby at least.
After spending pretty much all day unsettled yesterday she did settle after each feed last night, just wish they were longer than 3 hourly. Its like an alarm clock exactly every 3 hours she would awake.
Helen.p- I hope at least the tests come back with good results, god it wouldv'e been awful seeing eithan upset like that. I'd be bawling my eyes out.
Im hungary and i dont even breastfeed now! And Maz,it cost a fortune for you to send that lovely gift. You are such a good person and friend!
Ruby grunts all the time too in the mornings. It drives me insane but i cant stick her in her own room as she will disturb millana with the crying and she had a small episode of choking again last night. It is reflux i think as she had a drink 40min before hand and was also crying like in pain?
Ruby had a feed at 7pm,unsetlled till 830pm.Feed at 11pm,2pm(small feed as she done a poo) Another feed ar 4am and now 7am again. She is grunting and carrying on like she needs a burp so i will save her and then return later!
I envy you girls that have 4 hrly feeds.I just boosted ruby to 100-125mls as she was finishing the 80ml bottles.Hopefully that will help.
I may need to go to ngala(tresillian) next wed for a meeting
Just got back from the Maternal nurse.
thats it, Vyolett is officially a PIG! she's put on 945grams in 2 weeks, thats nearly 1kg! She's grown 2.6cm and her head is .6cm bigger. NO wonder she eates all the time. I almost fell over when the nurse told me. I dont see were she's put it on though. She still fits in 000 and 0000. Im so spun out. spoke to the chicki about the whole BF feeding thing (I stillhave the guilts about it) and hse said for my situation it was the best thing ( re early signs postnatal, kids unhappy, Vyolett ripping the top of my nipple off...yadda yadda yadda)
Chrissy - Im gonna go and have a sticky at your website lovie. Cant wait to see Caitlyn.
Shell - dont talk to me about Junk food, I drove past KFC and had to go through the drive through..all this weight Ive lost is just gonna pile up again!HELP! Oh on the sweat side of things, I made jelly and put some fruit in it. It helps with the whole sugar thing and its getting fluid and fruit into you aswell. i need shares in airoplane jelly
Jodie - PMSL at vending machine comment.
Belle - get some panadol and rest into you. Remember you can home deliver some takeway ;)
Caddie - it was my pleasure to make that for you. IM just so glad you liked it. Is ruby chocking on flem? Vyolett has done it a few times and then this big flem ball looking thing comes out and she's happy.
Best make lunch, worms are biting
Maz that's great that Vyolett has put on so much weight.
Nina only put on 550g in 2 weeks, so 945g is great. Although Nina has grown 6cm since birth, so she's long and skinny. We need a size 000 & 1/2 for Nina. She's getting too big for 000 & she's still to small for 00.
Oh Chrissy she's so pretty!
Chrissy - love the website.. I still have to do one! I am so lazy
Is anyone else constipated??? Sorry TMI! But i am so blocked up .. I think i am eating too much bread?? i dont know if i can take anything for it so might have to get DH to do an eneama! I am in so much pain .. I have just drunk 2 L of water and hope that this might dislodge my problem..
xoxo
i just wrote my birth story
Maz i was home when you called but was feeding the troops and now getting them to sleep.Iwill try u later.
Is anyone using the sr26 thickened formula for reflux? I got a tin but just read u need faster flowing teats! So now i have to wait.
Chrissy, she is cute and i signed your guestbook.
Helenp,i would have cried too, poor eithan.
Wow! what a weight gain for vyolett.I hope ruby has put that much on when i get her weighed next week.
well ruby is resting in my arms and millana is being naughty.Cant win.
littlep- When in hospital after I had Eithan I was taking the metamucil tablets. I am sure they are ok, but you might want to check with the chemist beforehand.
Wow Maz that is a great weight gain for Vyolett, you must be so happy.
Eithan at last Thursdays visit was 3.9kg in the nuddie and is averaging a 130-150gm weight gain a week. She says this is ok, but looking at the gains here I wonder if his reflux is causing weight problems. I know I shouldnt worry about it as she said he was doing fine, but I keep waiting foir him to grow and so far it's slowly slowly. But then again he lost nearly 1/2kg after birth so he is up quite a bit on that if I look at it that way.
augh stop blabbing.
Caddie-no we are not using any thickner as he is fully breastfed, but may look at it if doesnt put on weight. All the best.
Love
Helen can you tell me wht eithan symptoms are for his reflux? Thanks
little*princess- metamucil is fine to take, my nurse gave me some to have at home, she also gave me a suppository if i need it, I said no thanks to that one.
Who told me babies sleep 18 hours a day? Ashleigh settles well at night but during the day she has an eat/ play/ scream routine. Since getting up at 7:30 she's prolly slept for an hour and half all up. I don't know how else to settle her.She falls asleep in my arms but as soon as i put her down somewhere she is awake and I just can't carry her around all day, its aching my back. I worked on getting her to accept the dummy today which has helped, only prob there is as soon as she falls asleep it falls out and she's screaming again. I just can't win!
shell, I have the same problem with Nina. Awake all day, only settles in my arms, and when she loses the dummy, starts crying. I've learnt to tune out to her whinging when I need to go to the toilet/eat/take a rest etc. I find her swing to be great as well. Most of the time she'll settle in that, but not always. Have you got a baby carrier or sling? They come in handy at times. How about going out or going for a walk, does she like the pram?
Nina started going through the dreaded witching hour about half an hour ago, so wish me luck for tonight!! She's been feeding every 2 hours today instead of every 3 hours, so I'm hoping she sleeps through tonight.
Caddie- He gets really fussy during his feeds and continually comes off the breast. The last 24hrs he has been really bad. Often he will vomit all over me while he is feeding and he keeps trying to feed. Clinic sister told me this was because he has no control over the relux motion. He will spill quite a few times during a feed(spit quantaties of milk). When laying him down he will vomit about 5 times and sometimes he doesnt spit it out, but thankfully we have only had 1 or 2 gaging episodes, he seems to like to chew the cud, so to speak. Also when he has the dummy in we know he has vomited as sometimes it sounds like he is feeding as you can hear him swollowing it back down. Quite often though he will spit the dummy and then vomit up out and everywhere. We are trying to keep him upright for about 30mins after a feed to try and stop the vomiting as lying them down can start the reflux. Also we dont change him for about 1hr after a feed (unless wee and poo escaping) as lifting the bottom can start the relux too. He can also get the screams going and he goes as stiff as a board and tries to arch his back and gets a real that hurts cry. Oh and he also hiccups quite abit and gets the hiccup vomits.
Umm I have probably missed a few things but that's the basis of it. I looked up reflux on the bellybelly main site and found the advice there helpful, you might want to have a squiz. If you have any questions though dont hesiitate to ask, you might get lucky and I might have found something that helped Eithan. Also I think Anna's little man Xander has it aswell.
Here's the link- https://www.bellybelly.com.au/baby/reflux-in-babies
Love
Yep, Xander has it as well! So frustrating... I have really found the infant gaviscon to be of great help (only under Dr's recommendation for under 12 month olds). It's a bit hard to administer to a BF bub, but we get it into him with a dropper. We have also elevated his cot head, change table and pram so he's head stays well above his tummy height. We can change him after a feed but do so but kinda rolling him side to side to get the nappy on (instead of lifting bum). Xander gags heaps, but like Eithan.. he seems to like chewing on it before swallowing again ewwwwww!
And to whomever asked about hunger? I'm always starrrrrving! I'm pretty sure your body uses more kj's when breast feeding than during pregnancy... that, and tiredness makes me eat more too. I eat three rounds of sandwiches for lunch most days as well as drinking heaps of Activite or Milo to keep the energy up.
LittlePrincess - I'm living on metamucil as of late.. and drinking about 3 litres of water a day; it hasn't helped much
 Maz... Vy is a little piggy!!!!
Thanks for the advice girls.I dont know whether she has it as bad as you girls but she vomits alot more than millana ever did,she can sound real mucousy at times, heaps of hiccups and swallowing the cud! She also does have screaming episodes that do sound like pain cries and lots of wind.Maybe colic? I will paeds dr when i visit on the 19th!
jodi_lee- I have taken her for a walk and used baby carrier which does settle her but only prob is I feel i need to do it all day! She just gets so overtired she screams. I'm finding very hard to handle by this time of the day cause I been dealing with it since morn. The only time she has slept was once early this morn and once in the pram. I've finally stopped her screaming now by getting her to take the dummy but she usually loses that within 10 mins and will scream the place down again and take ages to settle. I feel like giving up at this moment and sending her back!
I've said this many times too.. but trust me, we really don't want to send them back up where they came from! LOL:
I feel like giving up at this moment and sending her back!
Caddie - It does sound a lot like reflux to me, bubs can have it in varying degrees... Eithan sounds like it has it a lot worse than Alexander. It's caused in most cases by immaturity of some valve near the stomach... most babies grow out of it.
I have bought some metamucil so hopfully this will help my problem!
Reflux - My daughter was really bad.. She was what they call the "Happy Chucker!" she would feed and spew and be happy about it, not cry, not be in pain however she was fading away.. She was born at 3.45kilos and by the time we went to trescillian at 9 weeks she had not put on much weight at all.. One week she lost 200 grams . She was loosing weight on the breast, not good for her at all.. We tried food thickner with a spoon and for a 9 week old she managed to eat it quiet well from a spoon. HOwever we needed to start supplimenting her feed so used Karicare Thickened formula ( I used cross flow teats from the chemist) and she started to gain weight however she rejected the breat.. very upsetting for me considering i had ample milk! Olivia was still a happy chucker until about 10 months.. sorryu to ramble on girls but if anyone wants to talk about having a chucker for a child please feel free to contact me.. I can understand what you are going through.. So far Alexander has not shown any signs of it!
We had a Pyloric stenosis ( sp??) ultrasound done for Olivia to check her valve as mendtions by Anna** and Olivia was normal.. They never found a reason why she spewed.. She just did??
Any how,, to all who are going down the reflux path a huge hug for you.. Its a hard yard when they are in pain from silent reflux or vomit all the milk.. And the washing!
xoxo Hugs to everyone!
LOL little p, yes the washing, OMG I have had to go out and buy more bedding and clothes just to keep up. The other night I was almost going to pull out one of Bella's pink growsuits when I found a green one for him.
Shellbell-lots of hugs to you, I hope she gets settled for you soon.
Anna**-Eithan has bad reflux, but like little p said is a happy chucker most of the time. But that said, I have been told it could be a lot worse. Pead told me that it is just one of those things that we both have to work through and she would only consider intervention if he was vomiting up blood or not thriving. So far he is doing well.
Caddie-Goodluck at the paed. Bella had colic and she didnt sleep, she screamed all the time, wouldnt settle and had to be held all the time and rocked to sleep and then woke as soon as she was put down. She didnt vomit at all, it was the wind being stuck not being able to come up or go down, stuck in the middle. It does sound like Ruby has reflux and like Anna said, no matter how bad it is, it is awful and hard for all of those involved. Esp that Ruby is having gaging fits, that's not good.

Is there any possible way I could suddenly not have enough milk?
Jett has been feeding every hour today and gets really frustrated like there isnt enough milk to satisfy him. Ive noticed Im not leaking as much anymore and was wondering if my milk is disappearing. I managed to express 100ml so Dh can do a nightfeed and let me get some decent sleep but I doubt that would have affected my supply? I def still have some milk though, I squeezed some out before.
Im so tempted to comp feed with formula :( I feel like Im starving the little booger.
Not much else happening here. Just tired and boooooooooored lol Dh is not much help either, like he is supposed to be.
On the topic of reflux, we've been lucky that Jett rarely spits up considering my DH and my cousin both suffer from pyloric stenosis (a severe dysfunction of the stomach valve) which resulted in surgery for Dh at 3mths old. Apparently it can be genetic and is most common in firstborn/males. Is it bad that Jett doesnt spit up? I think he's done it maybe twice since he was born. OMG am I not feeding him enough :crying:
hey girls,
belle im sorry i coldnt get online to chat with you last night i was off my head on pain killers the hospital gave me for my leg. lol.
maz- thanks. it wasnt a blood clot i have trouble with the hip joint its self. had it all my life.
well i had to go in there at 8am for my 8.30 appt with x-ray to see what i have done to the hip its self. and they found that i have been chipping bone away during the labour again like i did when i had akira. so they had to put me in for the day :( i have this keyhole cut where they had to flush away bone or something i didnt want to know what they were doing lol. never get home until 8pm .
poor simon had to have both kids for the day. i found out later from mum that he went there for help lol.
well im off to bed now that riley has finished his bottle.
later
Adele
Sorry to hear about those that have reflux. I can't imagine it would be easy.
AnnaT - you're milk may be starting to settle down and that's why you don't feel as though you've got enough. If you're still able to express or even hand express, then I'd say you've got enough. Jett may be going through a little growth spurt and may be just a little hungrier than usual. Maybe keep an eye on your diet and fluid intake? Has Jett got plenty of wet nappies? That's always a good sign if he's getting plenty of milk. Don't feel bad if you choose to comp feed with a formula. I've done this a couple of times if Nina has gone on a feeding frenzy and I'm stuffed, or if I want to have a break. We started doing it at around 3 weeks, only every now and then.
AnnaT - im just saying one thing, 10 day growth spurt. Its not you, Jett's going through it probably.
Chrissy - I just had a sticky at Caitlyn's web site. Oh I could just eat her up.
Helen - Look at how gorgeous Eithan is on his ticker. I hope that your better (to an extent no doubt) and its good that your come a board again lovie.
Caddie - good luck with the doc for Ruby. Nikolaus has reflux bad, like Helen's Eithan. I too had shares in Radiant at the time (hehehe). I kind of thought you'd be feeding but doesn't matter, there's a next time (3rd time lucky maybe lol)
Belle - did you go for a drive and feed that junk food craving ? lol
How is everyone else, im sorry for lack of personals ive really got to get int he shower and dressed to take the kids to Kids town - its a big adventure playgroud. we're meeting friends there and Jed is bloody working AHHHHHH. It will be an experience.
Oh Vyolett slept from 12 to 5.30 again, thank the lord!
Have a great day girls
xxmaz
Ah I forgot about the 10day growth spurt. Boobs are full to bursting now as Dh did a EBM feed last night so I could sleep. Bub ended up sleeping 10:30pm to 3:30am anyway!
Be back in a sec, bub needs booby.
success for me last night! Ruby slept from 8pm - 12pm then had a feed, from 12pm - 4am and had a feed and then 4am to 7am.I am so lucky last night.I wouldnt expect it all the time though! And no vomits! Plenty of hiccups and regurge but maybe she was happy yesterday.
Its nice to know that our bubs can behave.Well not much happening for me this weekend, again.DH is working all today so that means food shop tommorow and the likes.Boring.
woo hoooooo Ruby... good girl for being nice to your mummy last night. Hope you enjoyed your extra sleep Caddie.
AnnaT - Jett is probably going through a growth spurt.. whenever Xander does i never feel as if I have enough milk to keep up, but the more they suck, the more you will make. I'm sure you are doing a great job! There is a recipe for a milkshake in the increasing supply sticky in the breast feeding forum... I can vouch that it really did boost my supply big time so might be worth a go!
Xander was such a great baby last night... he slept from 6.30pm - 10.30pm, then from 10.30 - 3am, then 3am - 6.30am. Was bliss to get such good sleep! He seems quite unsettled this morning tho.. so hopefully he'll settle down soon. He seems to have his 'witching hour' from about 8am till 10am.
OK i have finally loaded some piccies onto me photobucket site.
Hope it works for you ladies.
Off to catch up on everyone elses piccies.
You lucky girls who get nice breaks between feeds. Ashleigh pretty much 3 hourly on the dot!
I'm feeling better this morn, she finally settled by 7:30 last night, I went to bed at 8:15! Then this morn she had her 7:30 feed and is usually awake then but this morn went back to sleep so I had another sleep and feel alot better.
Anna - i love Xanders glasses, he looks like such a cool dude. Good to see that his witching hour is through the day now, so much easier than through the night.
Caddie - Ruby must know that mummy needs a rest. The MHN said that at about 5-6 weeks our babies tend to sleep a little longer between feeds. Bring it on I say.
ChrissyT - I have to load some new pics up on our site. I takes so dame long and I just cant be bothered (Im slack)
Shell - Atleast you know when Ashleigh wants food. Vy wanted it all the time at 3 weeks. I remeber her being on my boob for 4 hours straight. I was close to pulling my hair out and puytting her in the Australian post letter box but I knew they'd find the return to sender and she'd be worse off!
Went to the adventure playground and Vyolett decided to have a massive blowout of her nappy. Mind you I dressed her in her WHITE pumpkin patch outfit (so I could show her off of course) so had to come home early. Its now a lovely mustard colour and soaking. UNLUCKY!
Going to hang some washing up and vac the house...its a pig stye.
Later chickens
xxmaz
Just a quickie today.
LOL Maz about Vyolett's blowout, look what I can do mummy! she wanted to show off too!Your poor thing though I hope it washes up alright.
AnnaT-I'm with the other girls, I think your milk is settling (I dont leak either). and that Jett is having a growth spurt. All the best.
Anna-What a cool little pic of Xander.
Augh Eithan is calling, has been grunting for 10mins cant leave him any longer sorry BBL for more personals.
Love
Maz- LOL bout that Aust post comment, i felt like doing that with Ash yesterday!
:hello: I was from the Oct 1-15th belly buddies, but my bub was born 25th Sept may I join too :)
:
The arrival of
Jack Robert Edwards
what a adventure!!!
22nd Sept 2006
Finally after 8 weeks of worrying about Jack coming early, which included a royal flying dr flight to Brisbane, and Capricorn rescue chopper flight to Rockhampton, we finally had a date for his arrival, 23rd Sept 2006 this was bitter sweet for us, as it was the 3rd anniversary of our Katy’s birth and arrival into heaven.
After OB appoint we decided to do some last minute shopping etc, when we received a phone call to say his birth had been put off till the 24th Sept, which we were fine about as you can imagine. So we are watching TV when we receive a message to phone OB ASAP, so I give him a call, he says, we have a problem and I am trying to find a hospital for you to go to to have the baby. I am like WTF! He says we are have no beds in special care  anyway Jase and I are like we aren’t going anywhere, what will a few days make for a elective c-sect.
23rd Sept 2006
On the 23rd we head to hospital to see OB with full intentions of saying like hell I am being flown anywhere to have this baby, I was only 37 weeks so we are like what’s the hurry. When we get there he explains why special care is full, and why he would like me to go elsewhere, basically we could hold off for a few days but if we do and bub comes and requires special care as he believes he will due to the GD, size of bub and excess fluid, then bub will be flown out while I stay in Rockhampton. So of course I am now prepared to be flown anywhere
So he admits me to hospital while waiting on news whether I would be flown 8hrs south or 9 hours north, finally around 12pm we get news that north it is, and am told we should be flown out mid afternoon, so Jase hit’s the road for the long drive north, while I wait for the plane, and I wait and wait……….receive a phone call to say Jase is safe and sound in Townsville, and I am still waiting  finally am flown out at 12.50am on the morning of the 24th.
24th Sept 2006
I arrive at the Townsville base hospital at appox 3am, they ring Jase at his motel and he comes up, the midwife pops me on a CTG machine to monitor bub for a bit, finally I send Jase back to motel, no point if c-sect is to go ahead for both of us to get no sleep. So around 6am they transfer me down to maternity to try and get some sleep, yeah right like that is going to happen. So anyway Jase comes back up and we wait to see OB, he finally comes around 1pm and then beat this after being told in Rockhampton no way we would try induction this OB is happy to give it a go :yippee:, so he arranges for me to go to birth suites to start induction, there they place a thing inside called cevadil, it is placed up against the cervix, it has string that sits outside so they can remove it. By 10pm Sunday night I am in tears with pain, and regretting attempting a natural labour. But I also knew if nothing was progressing by morning as in no dilation then OB would go straight to c-sect plan.
25th Sept 2006
Jase arrives nice and early to hospital, around 7:30am we are taken up to birth suites, where a midwife hooks me up to CTG, which shows I am having smallish contractions, although they felt like huge ones to me , this is when the drama begins, he yes my midwife was male  goes out and gets another midwife, they don’t say much to us, but are commenting on bubs heart rate, it turns out after each contraction it was plummeting showing he was in distress. The next minute we have a OB in the room, she says, she wants to do a internal and if dilation is happening rupture my waters. So when she does she finds I am only 1cm dilated, during this time bub heart rate kept dropping big time. So she says am I happy to have a c-sect I am like yes no problems. Little did I know that I was no being referred to as a emergency c-sect, it really wasn’t till I was on the table did I realise what was happening.
They said to me, if epidural doesn’t work first time, they would have to knock me out. Thankfully the epidural worked. So Jase comes in and they out up the shield thing and get to work, am talking away to Jase and didn’t even realise they had started
The next minute epidural guy says to me, they are just getting bub out, so I wait anticipating them lifting bub over screen, well the next minute they are saying look to the left and I see this dr with bub over his shoulder racing out of the room, I was a bit confused but I thought ok maybe this is normal, finally I ask is he what I thought he was  and I turn to Jase and say you have a son  I also say what is wrong, the epidural guy says bub isn’t breathing and the dr’s are working on him, they have placed a tube down his throat to help him breath L it took my little man a good 10 minutes to come good.
Jack Robert born 8.40am 25th Sept 2006
8lbs 12.5oz, 3985grms
50 cm long, 20inchs
HC 36.5cm, approx 14 inch
APGAR score 3 at birth,
6 at 5min
8 at 10min
Finally they took Jase out to meet him and then brought Jack into theatre for me to say hello before taking him to special care.
I have no memory of Monday from recovery till 5pm when I said I need to see my son, apparently after spending a eternity in recovery I was taken to special care where I got to touch him thru his isolette, I don’t remember this.
http://i9.tinypic.com/44pyeew.gif
Jase spent a lot of the day with me then in special care while I slept, as I said at around 5pm, I buzzed for a nurse and said I need to see him, so they helped me out of bed and into a wheelchair, and called Jase down from SC and he wheeled me up to meet our son

well my man gave me a fright this arvie we have a angel sound and movement monitor, well I was sleeping in bedroom jase was asleep in lounge and I heard a tic from parent unit the next minute the alarm sounded  I think I was in his room in two leaps, I scared the life out of him when I grabbed him, I have since checked the alarm and as it only sounded 3 times I think he may have beenbreathing real shallow to shallow for it to pick up, but man my heart sank when I heard that sound :(
thankfully he seems ok, and he wasn't blue or anything so hopefully that is all it was
what a scare though
Hi everyone,
Just popped in to say hello while Harriet is asleep.
BF is a nightmare for me my milk has still not come in properly so while I am waiting for drugs, expressing, herbal teas etc for work I am having to sup with formula which I never wanted to do and is making me feel like a complete failure! It is so depressing.
I am glad to hear you all seem to be doing well with breast feeding. Harriet is a real angel and is sleeping pretty well. She is a real looker too.
Love you you all and your little ones.

on wed 27th the first night Jack roomed with me, I lost my milk well colustrum I literally had not a drop, and while they say persevere by Thursday mornign I was a complete mess, and decided formula was the go for me, turns out according to a midwife my  bb's were too big for Jack to attach properly, she was goign to recomend tube and finger feeding EBM to him, but we decided to stick with formula, but would you beleive it by Mon 2nd my milk came in big time, but with all the dramas we have had with him I decided to stick with formula
I too felt like a failure for a few days but now knowing he is gaining weight wakinghimself for feeds, we had to stimulate and wake him for ages to feed, I know I have made the right decision for bothof us, my one consolation is nobody but Jase and I will feed him till 6 months
anyway hope you BM comes in but if it doesn't you are not a failure as long as bub is gaining weight and content and happy thats all that matters in the end :hugs:
