Ok,i have coeliacs disease. So no gluten for me anymore. No white bread, pasta, vegemite, crumpets blah blah blah. So i need to see a dieticion and have a xray for bone density and another stomach xray etc etc. Glad its not cancer and the change only effects me and not my kids.
Ok got to get ready for my concert now!!!
caddie - great news about your results. I've never heard of that, so I'll look it up so I know more. Bet you're feeling so relieved now.
laurin - yay on having a friend!! You probably feel like a new person! How do you feel emotionally about weaning Rylee?
ETA: just read up about it caddie, seems a lot more common than I realised. At least its treatable with a new diet.
You girls sure chatty today, only been out a few hours!
God this tax thing is so confusing, we're going to an accountant anyways this year, we've sold shares and stuff and Df has stuff to claim thru a little business he started, so too much for our brains.
Anyone heard from Caddie? I hope the news is good. Just read your post, a friend of mine has same thing. I know it gets hard for her sometimes with the foods she can't eat.
Laurin- Thats great you've made a friend from your group, you must get very lonely when your hubby goes away.
HelenP- That sounds so cute, hope bella has a great night with her daddy.
Jodi- great to see you back, we missed you! That person still reading your posts?
Belle- Hope the new meds all work out for you. Thats great you've been able to get in to see the psychiatrist.
Maz- My sister having dramas at the moment, my nephew was all planned to go the autism school but cause he did well in one test (out of the millions of tests) they say hes not qualafied to get in! The psych there is trying to pull strings but if she can't they say the only option is to go to mainstream and wait til he fails! No way, if they don't accept him we'll take action.
Meg- Thanks for sharing your story with us!
Had lovely day with mums group. Was one of mums b'day so she cooked this big lunch, so yummy.
My MIL has Coeliac. There is an association that you can join, and really there are so many more gluten free options now. It is amazing how much better MIL is since the diagnosis. She has been diagnosed about 5 years. Coles has a great range of frozen pies etc. You cant eat most breakfast cereal, and the bread is AWFUL, but really there are heaps more options than 5 years ago - oh and cant have most alcohol excepts vodka and strongbow.
Rach - you only get the Part A suppliment if you get part A.. check out the website.. you can do an on-line asessment without login ing.. familyassist dot goc dot au
Howdy chickies, there is WAY too much for me to catch up on and I'm not even sorry - it's your stinking fault for writing so much. :p
Crikey Shell, we must have been so close! I was with mum and dad and Rans. And we sat near the front door. We should do a city meetup, that would be so fun!
Kell, don't you dare go anywhere. It's not allowed...it's um...against the law.
MIL took me to the Robert Gordon Pottery outlet today, and paid for it, naughty lady. So Rans is jealous cos I still have all my holiday pocket money left! Haha.
Oh yeah, Caddie, coeliac's disease is a relief! We try not to eat too much wheat anyway, you know, balance and all that. There's SO much gluten free stuff out there, once you know where to look. And not bad for your kids too, my cousin's daughter had a real bloated tummy, took her off wheat and her tummy went skinny after a couple of days! And Meg says you can have Vodka, so that's cool, you can still have chocolate mudslides! Hurrah!
Anyway, I'm on my awesome BIL's laptop and I was actually coming on here to look at knitting patterns! Got sidetracked! :p
Catch y'all whenever I get on next! xo
Nelle- A city meet-up is a good idea that way its pretty central and easy for whoever wants to come and we can go to max brenners. ;) Where abouts do your IL's live?
We are making progress here with formula. I've been trying for afternoon tea instead of breast giving formula but she'd hardly take much. So tonight I tried it after dinner instead and in a bottle instead sippy cup and she drank about 60mls. Don't know if it was the bottle or the time but I'm feeling more relaxed about returning to work knowing that she will drink something. Hopefully by 2 weeks time she'll be alot better. I'm not going to give up BF all together but cause I'll be working 1pm-9:30 (plus time to get there and home) it'll be a couple feeds I'm not around for.
just popped in to read caddie's news... glad that it is 'only' cealiacs disease Caddie. Did you know there is a gluten free bakery that does all bread and cake products. Think it might be exxy, but good to know for special occasions. enjoy christina, my MG is there, i was going to go but Dad's bday so all the family coming for dinner soon xxx
Caddie - at least you know what the problem is and you can make changes. I have seen alot of bakeries/shops dedicated to people with coeliacs and I am not sure but I think some of the major supermarket changes sell special bread etc. Good Luck!
hey Caddie my FIL has this and with a few adjustments my MIL manages to cok him everything he wants.. i think he misses having a meat pie though... My MIL has not been able to master a coeliac friendly pastry! all the best !
Nelle, Shell - Id be interested in a meetup if you give me advanced notice :)
Caddie - I am glad its a less serious diagnosis of Coeliacs disease. I have a friend who has it (see how common it is!) and she does just fine with her diet. Atleast youll be super healthy!
Caddie, I had a friend who had Coeliacs disease and when she had her 2nd child it went away? I have heard of this before with other allergies. Strange. Good luck with the research, glad it is nothing more sinister!
I thought i would pop into this thread and say hi ..."HI" :hello:. My little girl was born in Sept 06 and i have been eyeing off this thread for a while just to see what your little bubbas are up to and how you are all going. I live on the GC and catch up with Annie from time to time and her gorgeous DS. If you dont mind id love to chat from time to time.
HI Funmummy
Welcome, look forward to chatting with you!!
Laurin :)
Welcome Mel hope to get to know you soon.
Hi to everyone else, I am so tired so just a quickie. For those of you with more than 1 child, is this the first yr that you have been given a supplement of FTB part A and B?
The reason I ask this is I dont think I have been paid this before, yet we receive pymts of FTB A & B. Who knows, I will ring centrelink on Mon and hopefully get someone who knows what they are talking about.
Love
centrlink is very confussing, i get the $600 per child each year with craigs income around $50,000-$60,000, and last year i only worked for part of the year so i only earned about 6,000 and i received the $300 as well, so this year i will receive both with me not working at all.
you also get what is owed to you in FTB A&B, if you have OVER estimated your income,BUT if you have UNDER estimated it you receive a bill, or they will take it out of the payments above(if you a eligble for them)
caddie glad your ok
mel glad you hoped onboard
but it all depends on what you earn, look on the website for more info
Caddie.. im really glad your results arent as bad as cancer. Just becareful you dont waste away with that no carbs diet! We cant have that ;) Do you have to have any other form of treatment? I know you can get alot of gluten free stuff at those health shops. My friend was on a diet once and found it all. Bread etc.
Just want to say thank you for all your support guys.
