laurin- I just thought too, do you have some sort of bedtime routine that you do?
Shell - yeah, we giver her dinner at 5 pm, then play, then bath about 6.30 pm, then into her room, the room is fairly dark, Music for Dreaming is playing on the CD, then bottle then pacing with her on my shoulder till she is asleep and then into her cot.....and then 'Me' time.......
oh Nessa, hugs to you.....I hope you get break soon.....or Annika has a good night of sleep...
Nessa - hope you get some rest tonight. Maybe you should buy some backup batteries for the cd player, that way if you lose power, you will be able to still play the cd.
Laurin - James often feeds to sleep at night. he basically doesnt sleep all day. I am lucky to get an hour out of him. Otherwise he just lies in his cot "having a rest" (Usually singing to himself) I am lucky because most evenings he will self settle, but not during the day.
Kell - Hope you feel better soon.
Annie - are you like me and wonder if they will go to sleep when we wean if they are used to falling asleep on the boob???
Meg, Ash doesn't fall asleep when I fed her before bed but it does make her nice and sleepy and relaxed so I too have been wondering the same thing. I will find out when I return to work cause I will be doing arvo shifts so she is going to have to have a bottle before bed instead breast.
Laurin- Does she take long to settle or does she quite easily go down once you've gotten her to sleep? I used to feed Ash right to sleep but as soon as I put her down she'd scream. If she goes down nicely once you've gotten her off to sleep then don't stress bout it too much.
Ness- Big hugs to you, could you get your parents or someone to watch them just for couple hours for time for yourself? Or is there an occasional care place you could put Teleah in for just few hours?
ness - hope that you are ok..
Well.. 90% of the time he will fall asleep on the boob, otherwise.. ill have to pat pat pat him.. we all know the walk we do..
i have been watching him feed and just when his eyeballs roll back i am putting the dummy in, sometimes it works..
during the day i have been trying to let him grizzle/cry a bit.. it works sometimes..
anyway its getting lots better, he is sleeping throught the night at least wakes around 4am, so im happy about that..
Helen - Hi.. all is good hunny! will catch you in msn soon
xoxo
Girls!! Helloooooo!
Shell, I went late night shopping today, you should have too, it was super fun, and Thursdays are so nice and quiet!! I spent lots of my pocket money at Tree of Life, hurrah! And got a knitting magazine, and some cane baskets to help me organise the washing - I can't quite figure out why cane baskets are $10 and crappo plastic is like $30 - crazy.
MEG! You were at Eastland today?? That's where I went shopping tonight, it's not a long drive from my place at all! Is it a long drive for you?
Hugs Ness. Are you going to teach Annika to sleep without the music at some stage, or is it just not worth the hassle just yet? Hope you get some sleep tonight, or at least a cuppa and a treat.
Hugs Laurin. I'm not sure I'd describe what we did with River as Controlled Crying, since what we did is a bit different to the 'proper' method, and we did it quite young, cos it's just the way it worked out with Riv's personality. It might be worth a try though? Ry won't remember this, but you will, and you can't be exhausted like this. Ask Shell what she did, she's done it recently.
I go in to Riv when he's truly upset, but often, if you know his noises, you realise he's just yelling. :p And then you hear him banging on his Ocean Aquarium. And then you hear a CLUNK WAAA when he's stood up and fallen backwards against his Ocean Aquarium. Fun fun.
All the best for braving Target Kell!
Annie, those big boobs were brilliant. What were they really?
Annat, not Sat 28th of this month (prob too close anyway) or Aug 4th (got a wedding). I think that's it...
Can I ask you guys what your feeding routines are? I want to see what you guys do.
Here's us (so you can even copy my format ;))
4ish am(often, not always): booby
8ish am: booby
11am: banana or peaches/pears
1pm: booby
4ish pm: jar food
6pm: booby (and bed)
The 4am never used to happen, but I guess he's growing again (he can reach yet another level on the bookcase), and if we wake closer to 10am, we have booby and skip the banana (like today ). I'm guessing we'll cut the 1pm booby at some stage, and he'll have some cow's milk then? What do you guys think? And what do you do?
Hello hello to those I missed! Hope you're all Swiiiiiiiiming! I might have watched too much Flubba dubbas on abc2...
Nelle
This is us - though it changes all the time:
8ish am: pureed fruit or weetbix with yoghurt then banana or toast with vegemite for finger food
10.30/11am: bottle (180 ml) then morning nap
12.30 pm: lunch - mashed veges sometimes with grated cheese or tuna then some veges for finger food
3 / 3.30 pm ish: bottle (180 ml ) then hopefully arvo nap
5 pm: Dinner - mashed veges with beef or chicken then custard or fruit or porridge
7 pm: Bottle Feed (180 ml) then hopefully bed at 8 pm ish
then there will be a bottle feed during the night last night it was midnight but often 2 or 3 am - if it is midnight then I would give her a bottle as soon as she wakes up but if she makes it to 4 or 5 pm ish I would offer her water first thing - it works out to her having four bottle feeds a day and three feeds of solids.
Laurin :)
Laurin... We're sorta a half-way point with getting Xander to settle himself. We're now at the point where I cuddle & sing to him in the dark in his room, play his little music box and usually by then he is 3/4 asleep, so I gently pop him into the cot and he usually cuddles his bear and goes to sleep. Some nights we do still have to pat him - but nowadays it's nearly always whilst he is in his cot. It took me ages to get to this point tho - and we stuck to a very strict bedtime routine to get there, but no CC'ing.
Nelle - We've finally got Xander into a set feeding routine, but have only really been able to do that since we started the formula; when he was having booby he nearly always asked for extra feeds which I happily provided (I figured he knew what he needed to grow and BF is so easily digestible).
7am - Milk (sometimes he doesn't want it) & Brekkie (cereal & milk, or toast)
10am - Morning Snack
12noon- Lunch & Milk (1/2 a chicken & salad sandwich, or jar food, or mixed finger food platter)
3pm - Arvo Snack
5pm - Snacking (usually on vegies that are in that nights' meal whilst I am preparing it)
5.30pm - Dinner & Milk (Whatever we eat, or jar food, or homemade baby food)
