Caddie - Measles are one of those things that are mis diagnosed all the time. Chances are that your girls won't get it. Fingers crossed for you.
Jodi - Clever Nina. J would have no idea about telling me he is doing a poo. He would happily sit in one all day!
Shell - I hope your couches were leather, so it just wipes off!!
-
Hey there chickies!!!!
Meg - The whole thing about using a 'naughty corner' is not very appropriate for a 12 month old developmentally speaking. A great idea that is appropriate for any age (well, I use it for nearly 10 and 11 year old girls as well) is the idea of time-out, but not the traditional "you must sit in the corner/on the bed....", but time-out which involves the parent and child doing something quiet such as cuddles, reading a book - just to calm the situation down, and also as a diversionary tactic. Maybe even suggest Pinky McKay's new book 'Toddler Tactics', it's supposed to be really good.
Jodi - Yay for Nina!!!!!!! She's growing up so quickly!!!
Caddie - Hope your nephew doesn't have the measles, and I hope that your girls don't get sick.
'Spose I better try to go back to sleep now - got about an hour (prob. less) earlier, then Ambah woke up for a feed and now my brain's going 100 miles a minute - not very good for trying to sleep.

Hi everyone hope that everyones weeks are going alright or in some cases improving. I have missed a bit (I caught tiana's throat infection and now know why she was completely miserable) but will try and catch up.
Tiana is loving Kindygym still and will climb to the top of the huge ladder to touch the ceiling! But she wont walk across the beam! I dont understand?! She has also learnt the lovely words of 'no' and 'mine' and uses them frequently! It is also really cute the way she is say 'here you go' and handing you something! When do they start putting 2 and 3 word sentences together?
Nessa - I hope everything improves for you, I think you should just focus on yourself and your girls, if your babies smile you prob will too.
Meg - I think 12 months is too young for the naughty step. With Tiana i stop her get down at her level and tell her that what she is doing isn't the right thing and sit and count to ten before I let her play again. I think stopping her helps her forget the thing she shouldnt be doing.
Nelle - I hope those teeth come soon!
Jodi - Thats wonderful about Nina wont be long now and she will be a big girl in knickers..
Caddie - I hope you girls stay well and you do too.
Sorry if I missed anybody hope all has a good week.
-
A big girl in knickers, I have never even thought of that! In my eyes she'll always be my baby. It's hard in some way watching her grow up so quickly.
Well we've only just got out of bed. Slack I know. But I had an awful sleep last night.
sharleen - I hope you managed to get some sleep last night. How have things been?
marni - bummer you got sick as well. Not fun is it.
caddie - how are the girls, any sign of measles?
nessa - how are you? Still at home?
belle - how are you feeling, still sick?
That's all my brain can function at the moment. bbl when I'm awake more.
-
Jodi- Your so right, I still see Ash as 'my baby' can't imagine her in big girl undies all grown up!
marni- Hope you are both feeling alot better. Thats great Tiana is using sentences, Ash is till just using single words.
Meg, nope our couches are swede. I managed to most of it up before it sunk in but then had to give it good wash.
We still haven't found bridesmaid dresses so I think we are giving up on the bought idea and going for pattern and get them made. also starting to think on hens night ideas. Thought might go to theatre restaurant. That should suit most people cause he mum and gran will be there too.
-
Shell - We bought the bridesmaids dresses for my sis's wedding off the rack from Myer. Just over $100 each.
Jodi - You were lucky to get such a sleep in. Did Nina sleep late?
marni - Hope everyone is better in your house now.
Mum bough J some sand for his sandpit, and he just went off! I think it will have to be an afternoon activity so he can get straight in the bath afterwards.
-
Hmm..
It seems like everyone is staying away from this thread now!
Hope everyone is alright
-
no no i'm around! typing 1 handed with a choc paddlepop though! :p
-
Oh Nelle - That reminds me - Guess what I had today......
A coke Slurpee!!
-
It has been quiet for a weekday, usually just quiet on weekends. I'm always around!
Meg, yeah we looked in myers, I think prob is she wants green and there isn't alot in that color in a style we want and in sizes we need! Ash loves her sandpit too, I don't like finding sand all over my clean floors.
-
Wheeeeeee! Go Meg! :D
I didn't have one today, but I had one every day before that for quite awhile. I'll consider this my one day detox and get back into them tomorrow.
(Though I did have two frosty fruits today...:p)
Bummer on the dresses Shell, Myer's a good idea too! But if the bride already has the idea of what she's after fixed in her head, it's probably easier to get them made.
Whoops about the wee! One of the reasons we got leather...though Riv's nowhere near having any loo awareness...apart from me getting out of the loo and him being on his tummy on the floor outside cos he's been trying to see under the door!
A theatre restaurant sounds good. One of my old school friends works at the Titanic one I think.
That's cool about the sandpit Meg - Riv had his first sandpit experience today, played with sand from the side...he was pretty fascinated!
Riv was a bit cute this arvo, it was nearing dinner time, so he was starting to get tired, and he climbed into the washing basket and tried to curl up for a nap. :p I'll have to teach him a bit more about his kiddy couch in his room. The camera battery was flat, but we got some video of him before he got in, just resting his head and torso in the basket with his feet on the ground, and then we got some footage once he was in.
Better go kick Rans off the phone, so he can help me with my labour bag - I am NOT going to bed til it's done!!
Hope everyone's well, let us know how you're all going!
-
I'm here. It's been sooooo hot here today. I've finally got all the housework done though, so just about to get into my Magnum ice-cream :D mmmmm yummy!
shell - yeah green isn't a very popular colour. I don't think it's even in season at the moment. Can't she change the colour :p
meg - yep, that's when Nina woke up too. She's been great lately, in that she is waking between 8.30-9.00 each morning. She must be going through a growth spurt or something.
Nina was such a little brat today. Had to go into Medicare, and she decided to chuck a mega tantrum. There was a little girl (probably around 4 years old) carrying her dolly, so Nina decided she wanted to walk around carrying her dolly too. But I wanted her in the pram. So I had to fight with her to get her back into her pram. And you should have seen the stares I got from everyone. I even had one lady (she looked quite old'ish, maybe a nanna?) look at me real evil looking, and shake her head at me!!! If she had of been a little closer to me she would have copped a mouthful. I was NOT in the mood for someone like her. I mean, I'm 7 months pregnant and fighting with a toddler who's about 12kg, to get her into the pram. Some people should just mind their own business. ggggrrrrrrr.
ok, rant over. I'm having my ice-cream now.
-
 Jodi. It's a good reminder to me to always make the effort to smile nicely at people with tantruming kids, honestly, even mild kids have their moments! And how was that lady helping you with her frowning? At least a smile could have helped you to stay calm and not stress that people are being bothered!
Hope you're enjoying your ice-cream.
-
Jodi- God I hate people like that, they seem to either forget what it was like when their kids were that age or they prolly never had children! If Ash is having a tantie I usually just not look at anyone if I can help it, just stare sraight ahead.
Nelle- Lol at that story but I am mighty impressed Riv will do that! Ash won't sleep unless she is tucked up in bed. Now I hope you come back telling us your bag is packed.
-
Is the bag packed Nelle?
Jodi - Is Nina still not having day sleeps? As that would be why she wouldbe having longer night sleeps.
Shell - Yep the pitfalls of a sandpit is that sand gets everywhere!
A question - for those not using Grobags, how to you keep covers on your kids overnight? J throws covers straight off so we are still in grobags.
-
Jodi.. oh dont worry about people like that, they have no clue obviously! Jesse throw huge tantrums too. Monday he was not in a good mood to begin with and all day at the shops was just screaming and whinging because i wouldnt let him grab all the clothes and things off the racks! I just took it with a grain of salt and ignore most of it. Its annoying when youre trying to get them back in the pram but if its going to bother others, i really couldnt care less. Just smile at those who are shaking their head, cos that will annoy them even more hehe.
We're off to swimming this morning so will catch up more when we get back.
-
Meg - we dont use grobags in summer, Jett sleeps in a big boy bed so he has sheets and a quilt BUT he only ever sleeps wrapped up in his woollen blankie. Sooooo he sleeps in barely anything because of that (those old school Nanna-knitted blankets are mighty warm!) Come winter he'll have jammies AND the blanket (and the quilt if I can sneak it on him). He covers himself up anyway if he gets cold. Rips will be in grobags until he gets a big boy bed next summer when he's 1.
Jodi - ugh dont you hate people like that? I reckon they are in serious denial about their kids doing the same way back when. Jett isnt allowed out of the pram but he does throw tantrums that the whole shopping centre can hear. I just ignore him until he stops. If people give me dirties I say "Would you like to take him home with you?"
Nelle - is that bag packed yet? I cant believe you only have 5ish weeks to go. Feels like yesterday that I was pregnant and counting down. I cant wait to know what your having!!!
Ness - how are you feeling sweetie??????
Hi to everyone else!
Soooo things are going ok. Ripley is mostly formula fed now, and he is much more content but I keep having attacks of guilt :( He has boobie about 3 times a day still but my milk is dwindling so I'll let him feed until it disappears and then its formula full time. I decided I had to cut my losses and do what keeps me sane. Im still super proud I made it to 8 weeks! Maybe next time I'll make it to 12wks. The 4hr blocks of sleep have made a huge difference though (so has the endless crying stopping!). Bad news - the dreaded AF turned up on Monday :wall: She's isnt as nasty as she usually is though which is a good thing. So its on the pill for me if Rips stops BF completely before it finishes, if not the mini pill will have to do until he does.
As for Jett he is great. We've cut our last teeth (before 2yo molars) so he's been really cranky, those canine's are awful trouble arent they! He also had his first haircut while we were in Sydney, just a teensy trim of his curls. Not that it made a difference, he still wakes up with birds nesting in his hair  He's got a few more new words too. I really need to sit and make a list of them all. I cant believe he'll be TWO in 7mths. He's such a little boy now, makes me sad to think that this time next year Rips will be the same!
BUT hopefully by then #3 will be on the way. Yep thats right Im officially certifiable :cryinglaugh: DH keeps insisting that 2 is it but then he mentions how he wants a similar age gap between them all so we'll have to make a decision soon. He also refuses to get a vasectomy so I told him that we're having another one then. I just dont want to regret not having #3, you never regret children but you can regret not having them. I always planned on 3. Plus I want to have it while we are in Sydney incase we have another horror pregnancy, that way my sister and numerous friends are right there to help. Ry will be insisting we're done right up until the kid is born hehehehe So in another 6mths we'll give it another whirl and see what happens.
Anywho we have Coffee club today which we are running late for and then its Rips 8wk MCHN appointment. OMG he's 8 weeks old TODAY
Have a great day girls!
-
Im ok Girls.
Just adjusting and it takes me a while to adjust to things. Dh has been riding to and from work so he is gone for a extra 2 hrs a day now. Which means he normally leave before the girls wake up and gets home after they are in bed.
So i really dont know who this is effecting more. seems like he got a the good deal. i know looking after the girls isnt the raw end of the deal but now i dont even have help with the bed time routine.
Oh and he still hasnt said sorry to me, which i think he owes me
Anna- 8 weeks is a great effort with BF, good luck with no 3. (your are nuts )
Jodi- oh i hate tanties, they seem to know when you are the least in control as well or cant do what you noramlly would. My local shops know Teleah well!!!
I had the appointment with the ob on Monday and theyw ont put me on BP meds due to it being so up down and all over the place cause they think meds might cause it to go to low and make me pass out. So just monitoring and more montiring.
So so over it.
Kell- have fun at swimming, will be htinking of you as i see what happens when i feed annika one of the biscuits i have packed at theplay cafe today. Its a new one so i dont know how they are going to react. I have my own lunch packed to!!! hehe. Rye bread with avocardo and ham YUM!!! just going to tell them I have GD so i have to eat what i have prepared!!!
other then that i am just laying low, trying to get everything organized.
Oh i do have a trainee doula now as well!!! she is bringing her oils and massage stuff down to meet me soon and yeah sounds good.
My hospital bag ispacked, had to do it when i was having all the BP probs. So ready for thes to be over and for her to be here!!
