Always behind the times I am -
Congrats on a little pink Kell
Happy birthday Belle!
Jodi, you look fabulous!
Meg, interesting little tidbit. Ditto Shell, I wouldnt want to labour that many times and by my 69th child mine WOULD walk themselves out :cryinglaugh:
So Ripley has been an absolute horror today, he just wont feed and when I finally got a full bottle into him about an hour ago, he then proceeded to projectile vomit it about 20cm in the air and all over the both of us. Ive tried feeding him since but he just fusses and wimpers :( So I can see tonight is going to be a long night. He's been possetting since about 2.5wks old and it seems to be getting worse. Im super worried because Ry was born with a condition called 'Pyloric stenosis' and its predominant in male children, the stomach valve doesnt close properly and it causes vomitting, usually projectile, and all sorts of other issues. He had his operated on @ 3mths old when he nearly died because they took so long to diagnose. So please cross your fingers its just a one off (wishful thinking on my part) and that he doesnt need surgery.
Will update when I can get in to see a Dr (bloody country towns, I'll have to wait ages and fork out $$$ left right and centre).

:happybirthday: Happy Birthday Belle!!!!! for yesterday - hope you had a great day. :happybirthday:

Happy birthday belle! Let us know how it was.
jodi you look great!!
And no we havnt seen nelles because as i see it she is always eating timtams and slurpess on the couch!lol no time for photos!
Annie thats so cute bout the paddington boots. Must be a big bear for him to fit into them!
Chrissy glad to see all is relatively ok with you. Hows your tribe going? Hows paris?lol. Hope craig gets better soon. Its a wonder he not a bit down with all these medical issues lately.
Annat maybe hes deleveping reflux, hopes it not the pyloric stenosis. How worrying. Can you just give him very small amounts in a bottle while being slightly elevated. You then need to keep him elevated 20min after. That was what the dr told me with ruby.
Ok gotta run ruby wants to be naked with no nappy on.Looks like as soon as next summer comes its toilet training as i dont want wet puddles. I wonder weather cloth would work? so they feel like undies?
-
AnnaT - How did you go overnight? I hope Ripley is alright. Poor little fella.
Jodi - How is Nina?
To all the girls on the nappy hunt, how did you go? I didn't do it... maybe next year.
Ness - How are you going?
Belle - Did you have a good day yesterday?
Maz - did you get to do your sewing?
The Mylanta cleared his bum, but the conjunctivitis is that bad that he woke with his eyes glued together. So we have a dr's appt for this arvo. Or there will be no childcare for J, and I am not sure what I will do about work!
-
Thanks Annat.
Ive just booked another scan to confirm our bubs is a girl. Will be Saturday week. Im just not 100% convinced yet so hopefully the next scan can put me at ease either way.
Meg.. oh dear i hope J gets better soon.
-
Meg- the hunt goes for the whole month of March!!! Trust me you will need the whole month to find all the icons.
Im ok, very tired, not sleeping well at all. Weird dreams effecting my sleep.
Hope J's eyes get better.
Kell- thats not much of a wait, your lucky thing.
-
Man oh man, turn my back for one minute and you girls sure get to work!
Belle, hope your day yesterday was a really enjoyable one. :)
Caddie, you made me laugh mate, and better yet, I got straight up and found the battery charger for the camera, so a belly pic is on its way! :p
Meg, I used to love conjunctivitis as a kid! Thought it was cool that my eyes could make that much sleep. :D
Ness, reckon you'll fit a nap in today sometime? I didn't get to sleep til after 3, for the second night in a row, so I'm skipping the day nap again - well, I'll try to anyway. Hehe, maybe that can be a good reason to request a slurpee - I'll need to coke to help me stay awake in the hot afternoon!
Hope it's nothing serious or complicated with Ripley, Annat. Never fun when these little worries pop up is it.
I think I'm running out of steam! Argh, who else was I going to say something to...probably everybody, considering how rambly I am at the moment. Honestly, poor Rans, I ramble and he has to look interested cos I'll cry if I feel he's ignoring me.
Oh, updated my blog too, for all the people who usually harass me about these sorts of things! :p
Hope everyone's having a really nice day!

Just about to go to the docs. J missed his sleep today. I put him down at 12, and we was still singing away at 2:15 so I got him up.
Oh dear, he is going to be a mess by 6:30 pm!
-
Can you just put him down for a short time when you get home Meg? Sometimes Riv won't go to sleep at his naptime, so I get him up, give him some food and a play, and just chuck him down later in the afternoon - and just make sure it's a short nap if it's getting too close to bedtime.
Of course you've been MIA Laurin! How was your time with your dh? Will he have many more stints away after this?

hello beautiful ladies!!
hope you are all well
we are doing ok over here
2 kids are hard work but im doing my best and steve has been fantastic in helping out.
still breastfeeding which im very proud about. its tiring but i must admit has gotten alot easier and not so painful. Tia has been very restless last week or so which has been hard because she is very hard to settle and some nights i was up from 8:30pm till 3am constantly trying to settle her only for her to wake as soon as i put her down. She has some major gas especially in the evenings which is probably the cause. Its hard for her to sleep properly during the day cause savanna is so loud and noisy when playing but theres nothing i can do about that. :)
as for me well i have my moments..some days im great and some im just so tired but i know its all apart of having a newborn.
Savanna is fantastic!! she is teething crazy at the moment so a little sooky now and then but she is such a chatter box. yesterday she started calling me by my name ...can you believe it???? smarty pants!!
my maternal nurse told me when tia was just 2 weeks old that she should be learning to self settle and that i should put her down awake and let her cry to sleep as long as it takes. i dont like the idea of this and i never heard of doing this so young..what do you ladies think??? i thought controlled crying should be done till later on??? it doesnt even sound very controlled either cause she said to let her cry as long as it takes her to fall asleep. i cant do it anyway cause at night tia crying wouldwake savanna up.
annat- poor bubs i hope the vomiting settles soon. if possetting means bringing up bits of milk well savanna had it quite badly. after a feed she used to projectile vomit or just vomit up small amounts of milk. i was told the little flap in the throat didnt close properly so milk would come back up...but that it would be ok after a couple months. well i tried her on s26 AR and it worked wonders!!! have you tried an AR formula? it thickens in the tummy so its harder for the milk to come back up.
how are all the pregnant ladies going?? omg not much longer to go how exciting!!!!
belle- hope you had a great birthday and was spoilt rotten!!
kell - congrats and the pink!! im so excited for you!
maz- big kisses for lil matty hope he is doing well
oh gotta run savanna has woken up from her nap
sorry to cut personals short
take care ladies
luv ambz

Hey Ambz, great to see you! I wouldn't be comfortable leaving bub for as long as it took either! It's up to you what you're comfortable with, and what works for you and your bub! From memory, with Riv, sometimes (if I knew he wasn't hungry or dirty, and was ready for a sleep) I'd leave him up to 10mins, because my going in seemed to wake him up. And if the crying got more intense, I'd go in. But most times, he'd wind down and go to sleep pretty quickly.
Your health nurse doesn't live with Tia, you do, so you need to decide what works for you guys, and what you're comfy with.
And definitely each child is different, I'll be curious to see if I can do the same things with this bub as I did with River (if I remember what I did!), or if their personality means I'll have to parent completely differently!
Owwww!! :p Something funny just happened, I had a tshirt next to me on the couch, and I put it over Riv's head, he tried to crawl off, but the tshirt came off, so he brought it back to me to put it back over his head. This happened a few times, until the tshirt stayed on, and he excitedly crawled off (couldn't see a thing of course) til he crashed into a wall!! :cryinglaugh: I think he might have cried, if I wasn't laughing so hard! What a dork I have.
I called Rans just as he finished work and casually mentioned that it's a hot day and I could do with some cooling down. ;) I think he got the hint.
-
Ambz - I would not be comfy letting her cry it out. The only way I would let her, is if you were in the room, and patting or rocking her. I am sure most say not to do controlled crying till at least 6 months.
Nelle - Just took your advice and put him down, as he was bawling his little heart out. GP has put him on AB drops. So fingers crossed they work.

Well we had bit drama here today. I noticed this arvo Ash's chest/ abdo area was all red blotchy rash then it started spreading and her lips swelled up her face got all red and even cheeks and ears all puffed up. Other than that she wasn't in any distress or anything didn't have a temp. So I called the hosp just to see if I should bring her in or just watch her and they told me to call an ambulance! So god I was all stressed out then. They reviewed her and took us into hosp just to get checked over, by time Dr seen us it had pretty much settled down. Now she is fine. Have no idea what caused it. She did have a bite when she got up from her nap but it more looked like mozzie bite and the rash didn't start til nearly 1.5 hrs agter she got up. Dr thinks it prolly just viral type of reaction. So that was our big day!
Nelle- Lol at River, he sounds like Ash, she has so many bumps and bruises from doing silly things.
Ambz- Personally all I can say is OMG at what that nurse told you! I don't know what kind of training she has to recommend that to a 2 week old baby! I feel like reporting her.
Besides that good to see you popping in, glad to hear things are going well. I hope you are getting time to put your feet up.
Laurin- So will your DH have to often work in South Africa or will he now be predominately placed here?
AnnaT- hows Rips been today? I hope you sort everything out. Could his body too just be adjusting to the formula feeds? Maybe try giving him smaller feeds but more often so he still gets same amount in a day but gives him tummy time to adjust?
-
-
Shell - how scary for you!!! Hugs to you and Ash - not a fun day. DH will be back and forward to South Africa for the rest of the year - 6 weeks on - 2 weeks off!!
Ambz - You sound like you are doing a fantastic job, I can't imagine how hard it must be with two. All the controlled crying/comforting books say to do it from 6 months because a baby doesn't learn from it any younger, follow your heart, if something feels wrong don't do it, you are the mum and know best.
Speak tomorrow

Ambz - Tiana is gorgeous!
Hope everybody had a good weekend!
Just curious but what is the nappy hunt?
Also does anyone else have a child who lives on cheese, toast and yoghurt? I cant get tiana to wat anything else really. I hide veges, make them in fritters and muffins as well as serve everything with every sauce imaginable but she wont eat! What has everyone else done? Toddler formula or baby vitamins? I am just so worried that she isnt getting what she needs.
Sorry for the lack of personals - Miss has been cranky and clingy for days now. I dont know what it is but I really hope it gets better soon!
