Hey Helen - great to have you back with us. Well Rylee and me are back in Melbourne, moved back into our house and got all our stuff out of storage. DH is commuting between Johannesburg and here for the rest of the year until the project in Malawi is finished. I am very happy to be back!!! Let us know your news.
Ness - aww you poor thing, let us know how you go with the hospital.
Laurin
-
Just got back from the hospital and im not happy.
Basically they took my BP 135/95. wasnt high enough to matter (yet last time i was monitored for over 4 hrs with 130/90)
I was told to bad so sad about my headache. And told to just get someone to watch my kids for me so i could take stronger drugs which i do not feel comfortable taking. specially while pg.
They did monitor bubs for about 20 min and she is all good. and i am having regular tightnings.
Was told to keep my fluid and food intake up, Kinda hard when nothing stays down. she said well take your anti nausea meds and im like I am. and she just said oh.
GIven a script and sent home. I didnt fill the script because i dont want to take stronger medicine.
They didnt even let me wait for my midwife to show up before they told me to go.
so she is going to come out tomorrow to see me and do the bloods and urine and monitor my BP. god i hate hospitals
-
Hey helen!!! Very exciting to see you back!!! How have you been after everything you been through lately. Hows bella now with her being sick and the bruising?
Ness, stupid hospital. Hopefully the midwife can help ease your mind tommorow, even if its only with kindness.
-
Oh i just looked up the possibl e side effects for the drug they gave me
tremadol: Neonatal seizures, neonatal withdrawal syndrome, fetal death and still birth have been reported during post-marketing.
-
OMG Nessa I am shocked to hear about that. It musnt feel good having been fobbed off like that, it's not fair. If you still feel bad, go back to hospital and if you feel up to it demand to talk to your midwife. They cannot tell you to risk your baby like that. Surely they can be more supportive even if there is nothing they can do.
Nelle-Hehe at you waddling, I saw your tummy and it is so compact. You must be carrying the baby fully up and down. Glad to hear that things are going well. Well I have to say that Me, DH, Bella and Eithan are all addicted to frozen coke and raspberry from Maccas. We cannot get one in front of Eithan he goes mental screaming for it.
Caddie-Bella is a lot better. Eithan has got a cold at the moment so he is a big dribbling, crusty snot terror at the moment. Things are slowly getting better. How are the girls going?
Laurin-Wow that is great news that you are back in Melbourne with all of your stuff. It must be hard though with the commuting for DH. Oh well at least you guys will build up the frequent flyers. I hope everything is going well.
So have you Melbourne ladies sorted out yourselves a meet up yet?
Well ther are lots of things happening that I cant talk about on a public forum, but what I can tell you is that things have been really bad but not just for me. At the moment I am dealing with an irregular heartbeat. It was really bad last week and I was hooked up to an ecg monitor. It left after a good nights sleep but it has started again yest and is continuing on and off. I havent been back to the dr yet, I will wait and see how I go. The dr is pretty sure it is due to stress. I dont feel stressed though. My chest is just constantly aching.
The kids are both good. We moved Bella to a new school this yr to start prep and she is absolutely thriving. We love it. A boy gave her flowers today and she brought them home and put them straight in water. Awwww it is so cute. She doesnt know is name, she said he hasnt told her yet.
Anyways enough from me, hope you are all well.
Love
-
Great to see you back Helen. Sorry to hear not all is well with you. We should all have a msn chat one night to catch up on everyone, and everything.
And how cute about bella and her boyfriend :heartbeat:
nessa - I'm really shocked that they'd give you Tremadol. Good luck next time you see your midwife. She sounds a lot more understanding than that hospital. How are the pains you've been getting, still coming reguarly?
maz - I feel awful at the moment, but unfortunately I've got to keep going. Nina is definitely coming down with something and is being extremely unsettled and clingy with me. She was up at 4.30 this morning, and didn't really get back to sleep. Hopefully tonight will be a better night for me. How are Vy and Mateauz going after their needles?
annat - moving to Qld mid year is definitely the best time of year. Up here, we do get a winter, but nothing like what any of you guys get. In the 9 years I've been in Cairns, the coldest it's got in winter is 7 degrees. It's the summer that's gonna really knock you around. Especially in Townsville. Townsville is a dry heat, whereas Cairns is all humidity. Dunno which one is worth actually. Both places get very hot.
-
Ness- I'm just assuming here that Tremadol you mean Tramadol? Thats a pretty strong pain killer, I'm surprised they recommend it, I think its a Catergory C class, yeah I just looked up catergory C class says
" Drugs which, owing to their pharmacological effects, have caused or may be suspected of causing, harmful effects on the human fetus or neonate without causing malformations. These effects may be reversible. Accompanying texts should be consulted for further details."
So I definately wouldn't be happy in taking it. Doesn't sound like they treayed you too well.
HelenP- Oh no that doesn't sound good at all, are you seeing a cardiologist? Like Jodi suggested we'll have to have msn night one night to catch up on everything. How cute bella got given flowers. I hope all the other issues going on aren't anything too serious, big hugs to you, you haven't had the best of luck with things in the past few months.
-
Ness- Was just doing bit more research, if the pain is really quite strong you'd be better off taking panadeine as Codeine is catergory A drug. (and there isn't all tha much codeine in panadeine there is alot more in the panadeine forte).
-
Well i did speak to my midwife, she rang me as soon as she realised they let me go. Theye didnt even tell her i was there which they are meant to do.
I spoke to her about the tremadal and she said unfort that sometimes you have to weigh up the risks and with my headaches and rising BP without the tremadol the same sideeffects can occur if its not treated. so yeah its kinda dont treat it and it could happen or treat it and it could happen. but the chance of the med doing somehting are extremly low and because they know i am taking them they are aware of the signs to look for.
still i would have like to been informed of those risks first.
any way my midwife is doing a full examine and bloods on tuesday and if i get a headache again she want to know immediatly. she said this time she will take me down there herself. oh i am so glad to have her
Helen- you take care of yourself!!!!!!
ETA- yeah shell thats the stuff!!! They did recommend panadine and yeah it did nothing fdor my headache at all. Yeah i wont be taking it again. just too risky IMO, thanks for looking that up for me!!!
-
Hey kids. :)
Tired here, missed the arvo nap, so bed soon for me! Had a hospy appt today, same old same old.
Helen, eugh on the irregular heartbeat. My MIL had one of those (this is a simplified version, don't know exactly what was wrong) and now she's got a defribrilator in her chest, it's never gone off, but it will if her heart plays up too much. Big hugs on all the other stuff, you know my email if you need, always enjoy hearing from you. :)
And awwwwww on Bella's flowers from the boy. So cute that she doesn't know his name yet!! I thought it was the girl who was supposed to maintain the air of mystery! :p
Ness, honestly, you poor thing. Hope you can kick back as much as possible to keep that b/p down. Go sit in your fridge or something, doesn't being cold slow down the heartrate? :p You can trust Dr. Nelle on this one...hehe.
Jodi, hope you get better soon. Seriously, go to the dr if you feel you aren't improving quickly, I was really impressed that my dr took me seriously because I was pregnant. Better to get stronger (though safe!) meds, or injections than get super sick and need ages to recover.
My butt's sore, I'm sitting on the floor, because Ran's computer stool's uncomfy, and I'm not on the laptop because yesterday the cable got jammed in the recliner and sliced through! Just so thankful no-one got electrocuted! So Rans has ordered a new cable, and I'm borrowing my mum's tomorrow to recharge the laptop, but yeah, it's really uncomfy to use Ran's computer!!
Big hello and hugs to everyone I've missed! Really like our little community, the way we can catch up on each other and support each other. High fives all round! :D
-

Helen,My dad gets something similar, tightening in the chest and rapid heart beats and the like. They too told him it was stress related. Its been going on for years on and off. Hope you too feel better soon. Its a pity anna wasnt on because im sure she had a feeling of something similar.
Ness,i hate tramadol. They gave that too me to bring home when i had stomach pain last y and it made me nauseas for 2 days.It was awful. Hopefully nothing like that will happen to you.
Cant wait for your scan belle!
Ok off to check out my kitchen for food.
-
Well unfortunately Nina is a lot worse today. She has a fever (around 39.5), cold, cough, and generally really miserable. We managed to get some food into her at dinner time, the first thing she has eaten since yesterday, but she didn't eat a great deal. At least she ate the vegies though. She's so irritable, and she won't go to anyone else other than me. She won't even let anyone touch her arm or anything. Poor little chicken. She's gone to bed now, but we can hear her coughing, so Heath is standing at the door listening, in case she vomits.
I'm feeling a lot better though, so that's a plus.
nessa - thank god you've got yourself a good midwife. How are you feeling today?
Not long for nelle and nessa now. Only a matter of weeks
Oh, and I'm 30 weeks today, woohoo!!!!! The countdown begins!
-
Looks like its been very quiet in here today!
Not much going on here, Ash has been fussy eater again last few days, drives me nuts all the wasted food and the wasted time and effort of making/ preparing things. I keep thinking she will fade away to nothing!
Belle- I hope you win that discussion cause I want to know! Did you find out with Julia? We found out with Ash but I'm thinking next time round I'd like a surprise.
Nelle- You talking of laptop reminded me that Df is meant to be getting one! I can't wait, cause he is head of maths department he's meant to get one (they bit slack!) Then I can tuck myself in bed and use it!
Ness- How is everything with you? Still getting terrible headaches? Will they induce you early do you think? Maybe 38 weeks or something?
Df came with us to gymbaroo today I think he had more fun playing things than the kids, lol.
Jodi- we posted same time. Poor Nina, do you think its related to her immunisation? Maybe try get her into Dr tomor morn to see what it could be in case she needs some AB's or something. I hope she gets some sleep in tonight,( and you too) keep up regular panadol and fluids.
-
Oh, I forgot, she has an ear infection as well. We took her to the dr yesterday, and again this afternoon as she was a lot worse this afternoon. She's on antibiotics, and we're keeping up the fluids and panadol. Sounds like she's gone to sleep, at least for now.
-
Did she just start the AB's today? Usually after coule doses I find alot of improvement. Hopefully she'll have a good sleep and wake up feeling so much better.
-
Yeah, her first dose was only at 6pm today. In the past the ab's have worked quite quickly for her ears. It's just so hard seeing her like this, she's so lathargic and sick. Probably the sickest she's ever been. I really don't know how people can watch their little ones in hospital who are even worse. I take my hat off to them. It could be pg hormones, but I'm crying at the job of a hat ATM when she's getting so worked up about being sick. :(
-
Jodi - hugs it is so hard when they are sick - when all they want is you it is very physically draining but those AB's should kick in overnight and hopefully by the end of tomorrow she is a different girl.
Not much to report here....
-
Big Hugs Jodi, it is awful seeing them sick. Puts me in tears to cause you just keep thinking how you want to help them. If she wakes overnight just give her another dose and more panadol then she should be 100% by morning.
-
Oh Jodi! I hope that she is better soon and that you can all have a rest.
There must be something around as I am still coughing like crazy, and that was from nearly a month ago. J is also coughing heaps!
Shell - J has not really been himself for about 2 weeks now. There must be some sort of cranky bug in the air!!!!
-
sat 39,sun 39,mon 37, tues 36, wed 34, thurs 37, fri 39
This is our weather predictionm, apaprently mother nature wants me to suffer.
I highly doubt i will be getting headache relief.
jodi- poor nina, hope they work supper fast
Belle- got to work on those ebay skills :p
-
hhhmmm, well she's awake (already!) but is back to her normal self already  It's like nothing is wrong, except for the fact that she's still awake. She's walking around with a new little pony I bought her, calling it a dog. I guess the drugs have kicked it.
nessa oh man, that's awful weather. Thank god you don't have the humidity to go with it. Good luck coping with it, hopefully you don't suffer too much.
Well Heath is finally getting me some dinner. Dunno what it is, but it smells nice.
ETA: she did end up vomiting in bed, but had a good play around for a few hours. Hopefully we've tired her out and she'll sleep well tonight. I wonder though, will the a/c affect her much? It's too hot not to have it on. I think it'd be worse with just the fan on ???
-
Ness - do you have aircon? I am sure someone has asked you before, but I have forgotten. Try and rest up.
Jodi - how did she go last night?
-
Meg- we do have air con!!! couldnt be without it and my parents actually own the house we rent so i wouldnt have made them put it in. But yeah wne we moved in here they didnt have aircon but didnt want the girls to suffer so they put in ducted for us!!!!
Well i seriuosly have the dumbest husband in history. You all know he cant drive right?? well on thursday when i rang him to say i was beeing checked in the hospt what does he do he brings home the work phone. The phone where is it rings means he has to get to his work (25min drive) cause something is wrong like the alarm has gone off. Ummm what kinda person brings home that when a) you dont have a drivers license B) your wife could have possibly been keep in hosp and c) if she was you have two kids and no drivers license!!!!!
We dont have and i refuse to pay for cab fair as it is not part of his contract and he does not have to bring it home. And why does his work insist that he does when they know of our circumstances.
He really needs to learn to say no, he didnt say no to the people he drove home while inder the influence and thats how we got here to begin with.
ok whinge over
Now i have to go to biq w and get new tyres for his stupid bike that he needs. grrrrr
-
Morning all.
Mum and dad are on their way over so will write what i can while i can.
Maz.. after my scan we bumped into FIL at the shops and were able to tell him there! He was almost in tears and said he was so happy for us. So that kinda made my day even more. Im having another scan on Saturday to just double check the sex as i wasnt overly convinced.
Nessa.. hope youre doing ok. Maybe DH took it so if they got into any problems they could ring him and he could sort it out over the phone if he was incharge for that day. I know he wouldnt just leave you and go to work if you need him there.
Jodi.. oh i hope Nina is better today.
Meg.. not sure what the weather is like where you are but with the weather in sydney im surprised not everyone here is sick. One day youre frying, then at night or the next day its freezing. Its that horrible time of year.
Belle.. im doing pretty well, thanks for asking. You poor thing with this m/s! Just hope the time flies so its all over with. Good luck with your scan on Tuesday!
AnnaT.. yep let me know when your time comes and ill give you the girl recipe!!
Chrissy.. hope youre feeling better soon.
Well i think theyre here so have a nice weekend all!
-
Bloody hell Ness, your weather forecast is worse than ours. I been *****ing bout it considering summer is meant to be over and now we seem to have this heat wave. Stay in the air con as much as you can and lots and lots water! Lucky that phone your hubby brought home didn't go off, he'd have to pedal his bike pretty quick down to work!
Jodi- How is she this morning? Ash calls quite few animals doggie, anything that looks similar gets called it.
Kell- Have fun with your mum and dad!
Meg- Yeah Ash has been bit NQR for awhile now, she has bit of a cough too and just whingy alot. Must be something in the air.
I gotta go to work today and Df went to a party last night and stayed there the night so he just better get home in time for me to get to work!
-

Yep, the mylanta that you drinl for heartburn. You just dab on their bottom with a cotton ball. Strange as it seems, it seems to work. J's nappy rash was that bad that he refused to walk as it hurt. By the next day it was much better.
THe sleep thing, for me Belle is still really an ongoing issue, although i am getting better. Lets just see how I go after taking him to London. Happy to help you if a can.
Gotta go, J is screaming his head off! BBL

Hey chickadees!!!!!
Meg - I just added you to my msn ;)
Maz - Woohoo on the weight gain!!! Gotta love that booby juice!
AnnaT - Hope all's going well at your place.
Belle - Yay for winning that argument!!!! Good luck for Tuesday.
Jodi - That's so great that Nina's feeling better.
Hi to everyone else!!!
I'm babysitting a friend's daughter tonight while they're at her brother's wedding reception - she's overtired (big day) so Bre and Litha are watching a movie with her. I had a long overdue hairdresser's appointment today - gotta love spoiling myself, hehehe. I went for a bit of red in the top layer of my hair, and a bit more layered as well - I love it!!!!!
-
shar - your hair sounds great, I wanna see pics.
caddie - can't wait to see what you do for me.
maz - I'll upload some photos of Emily's room once it's done. I've done up Nina's room, so I'll upload some pics tomorrow. Nina's room is princess theme, Emily's will be fairies.
It does feel weird typing her name. I'm still in the habit of calling her 'bub'.
How's Vy's rash going?
belle - I hope you're going to share with us what you're having. I can't wait THAT long!!!!
We've had such a busy day today. Didn't leave the house, just doing stuff around the house. First coat of paint is done in Emily's room. It'll be finished tomorrow. Now Heath wants to go to bed, but I washed the sheets today and haven't put them back on the bed, and he wants me to help him. God I hate that job!
-
yay! Go saints! It is only NAB cup but still I was very excited, thought I was gonna have accident driving home from work yelling at radio!
Jodi- yes I want to see pics so maybe I can steal ideas from you! ;) I still need to do Ashleigh's room.
Shar- That long overdue hairdressers is my situation, I haven't had foils put in since July 2006! I've had one haircut since Ash and that was just at just cuts so I am due for pampering.
Maz- Poor Vy, hope something works and settles it. yay on Mats weight gain, ahh your booby juice is going great guns. Oh and he is soo gorgeous, god its making me clucky! I realised today its not all that long til we start ttc again.
Caddie- When I do get around to doing Ashleigh's room I will def be giving you my business first. I'll be wanting name thing for door and stuff for walls, I've just gotta stop being slack and start planning it!
Belle- ooh yay, not long now, 3 sleeps til we all find out!
-
shell - Nina is very excited about her 'new room'!! She points up to the princesses that are on the wall and has a huge smile on her face. It's definitely going to be a girly room. I've got a disney princess doona cover on layby as well, which I'll get off in a few weeks, then her room will be complete. We're going to paint her room one day, just like the rest of the house. But one day!
