Wow only a week to go Meg! That sounds great! How long are you going for again?
Chrissy, sounds like a good idea for the kids to be at their dad's for now. You'll want your rest.
Jodi, Cocopops are the BOMB! Fruitloops too. :D
Rans is out getting milk & bananas and stuff (just a few basics), AND Maccas because I haven't had takeaway in ages and I haven't had a frozen coke for ages and I'm going to have one after our last feed before Si has his long night sleep! Looking forward to it actually. Really hungry now though, and trying not to snack while I wait!!
Oh hey, we got given a pretty decent Coles Myer voucher from Ran's work - what should I get? I've got a mental block, can't think what we could possibly need...maybe perhaps a Fisher Price Jungle water thingo that goes on the cot (like the Ocean Wonders Aquarium that Riv had/has). But that wouldn't use terribly much of the voucher, since it's on sale at Myer at the moment.
-
Nelle, get the fisher price thngy then spend the rest on yourself! ;) I'm boring with vouchers I always put them aside for when I actually need (or really want) something.
Marni- Whenever Ash has a big day she is terrible to get down to sleep too, think they just get so overtired by it all they can't shut there mind off. Glad you had great time though.
Gymbaroo started back again today, its funny whenever a new term starts back cause its then I notice more Ash's development. Just how much better she can climb and do all those physical things and then in the musical part she seemed more settled and joined in bit more. You can see all the kids getting more out of it.
-
hi ladies...
i just want to thank you all for your kind words through this tough time..
i know my situation is not as bad as what many other parents face day to day and i have so much respect for those strong people.
i feel i have been quite negative and only pointing out the bad things lately so i want to inform you on the good :)
My beautiful little girl is 10 weeks on monday. She is now 4kg. she is talking smiling cooing and blowing bubbles. I dont want to jinx anything but I do think the losec is making a huge difference as she has been having some good sleeps. We have our good days and our bad..but im hoping she will improve as each day comes. I can see a whole new little girl emerging...she has developed her own little personality and when she looks at me a smiles it completely melts my heart and reminds me the rewards of being a mother.
once again thank you for thoughts and encouragement.
hopefully once things get alot better and easier i will be able to post more often and do personals.
thinking of you all and the pregnant ladies and new born babies.
luv ambz

Hugs Ambz, keep us posted on how things go, great that there are positives you can recognise!
I get you about the gymbaroo Shell, every time we go the the local park, River's got a whole new level of awareness and tries new things, very fun.
Hellos and hugs to everyone else.
Who's had a windy baby before? What did you do? Si is breaking my heart, poor thing, all I hear is straining and cries. I didn't get to sleep til 3:30 yesterday morning...(Riv's teething too, doesn't help things really). Ahhh there he goes again.
-
Nelle - Here's a few tips I can think of off the top of my head
- Try giving a small amount of water - from a bottle or from a teaspoon
- 'Bicycle' his legs (IYKWIM?)
- Bouncing on a fitball if you have one
- Gently massage his tummy
- Lie him on his tummy and massage his back
Um, that's all I can think of right now, will let you know when I remember more - hope you get some relief soon
-
nelle i use to use the brauers natural wind drops or when a little older infacol? not sure what age you allowed to give but the above points are great to try first.
my store is now working! just awaiting on a link from lucy! so you guys can have a squiz or just go to wahmnaps site.
-
Hi Caddie,
I can't seem to get your store up. Can you PM me the link?
Nelle - I think Shar has given some good advice. Also the Brauers is pretty good. You must be mega tired getting up with 2!
-
Meg it should work grr,lol.
Wahm Naps
Im going to go and try and link it to my sig now.
-
Great store Caddie! I'll definately be ordering a Pirate canvas from you soon, theyre fabulous! Hopefully next bub will be a girl so I can get the pink canvas, I just love it :)

Hey all thought i would pop back in and say Hi

Things with MJ are going well, we are still bf strongly so am very happy with that. Ohter then a slight wind problem this morning she has been a great sleeper.
Hmm bbs
annika has just poked her
ok
Caddie- great stuff, i love it!!!
hi to everyone else
-
Hmm I had heaps trouble getting on here this morn and yesterday arvo, page wouldn't load up but seems everyone else got on so who knows what prob was. All other sites were working cept this one???
Hi Beatrix, took me a little minute to work out who you are! ;) You're sounding good.
Caddie- When my friend has her little boy I might have to get something from your store, good on you it all looks fantastic.
Nelle- Ditto with what Shar said and we also used the infacol drops here for awhile at one stage, did seem to help a little.
Ambz- Things must be looking up cause you're sounding very positive in that post.
Just had busy day here cleaning, yes very exciting, I so wish I had a cleaner!
Df's birthday tomor, we went to DFO yesterday and he shopped til he dropped, very spoilt but I guess he never really buys stuff unless its birthday or xmas. I told him for my birthday I expect him to take me shopping and watch me try on stuff and pay for it all!
-
Which DFO did you go to Shell?
Hi Beatrix.
Went to a farm this morning. J had a blast. We patted some pigs and a donkey. Also chased the ducks and chickens!
Just got back from the MCHN appointment. J can't stack 4 blocks, nor does he really do imaginitive play. Should I be worried? My anxiety has gone into overdrive.
-
fak
Meg Riv thinks blocks are for throwing in & out of his trolley. No stacking here. :P
-
How about the imaginitive play?
Oh - I should add he weighs 13.3 kg and is 90.5 cm tall. That puts his weight at the 75th and his height above the 97th percentile. Looks like he is going to take after his parents in the height department. I am 5 ft 10, and DH is 6ft 3
-
Um, he comes up to us sometimes like he has something in his hand, we hold out our hand and he hands us nothing...does that count? Please don't stress Meg, kids do things in their own sweet time. How long's J been walking for? Riv's only been walking for 2 weeks.
-
hi girls
How are you all? Ive been flat out and Julia is ok but still sickie and she had to have her chicken pox shot on Saturday as theres chicken pox in her daycare at the moment. Hopefully doesnt upset me or unborn Tara baby Ive had chicken pox...but could still get the shingles.
Meg - hon, what do they mean by imaginative play? I have to take Julia next week for her checkup with the MCHN. Julia doesnt stack blocks. She does build lego though.
Hope everyone is well, will come back later to write more.
Bel
xxx
-
Hi Belle,
It means that they will rock a dolly like a baby, or lie a teddy down and cover it with a blanket like it is going to bed, or use a pretent teapot and cup and pour a cup of tea etc.
Hope Julia is feeling better.
-
I'm guessing by imaginative play they mean pretending? I wonder if that includes pretend crying, River has crocodile tears all the time. :P Until he realises I'm not looking (well, I am, but not letting him know that!).
Just remembered we've got our 18month check up tomorrow too (sneaking it in with Si's 2week one, otherwise she knows I wouldn't turn up ) so we can compare notes after that!
-
Haha Nelle you can tell your a Mama-of-two because you called Silas Riv :p
Meg, well Jett stacks blocks and does imaginative play (Jett will feed and cover Ripley which I guess might count as imaginative play, and he drives his cars/trains around the floor making sounds and talking to himself) so I cant help you there except by saying that J is just fine and he will do things in his own time. Those appointments are just a way to make us feel like we arent up to scratch by "professionals" standards which are not worth a dime imo. Jetts only been doing it for about 2 or 3 weeks. Surprised me actually because he can hardly sit still through a movie or TV show so I didnt think his concentration span was up for actual playing with toys yet.
Maybe you could imaginative play with him and see what happens?
-
Haha well I changed it Annat, so now you look like a crazy lady. So :p back atcha!
Did you know you can buy Peach iced tea cordial? I'm drinking a beer mug of it now! :D Holding off on the coke, til Si's wind settles. People are telling me that windy babies often grow out of it...anyone know what time frame we're talking here? By 3 weeks? 6 weeks? 3 months? 21 years?
-
nelle, probably by the time he's 21 he would have grown out of it
Seriously though, probably a good idea to stay away from the frozen cokes for now.
Any luck on the housing anna?
So what is life really like with 2 under 2??? I'll be there in a few weeks, and starting to really ***** myself now. And be kind!
meg - like the others have said, he'll do it all when he's ready.
-
Yeah I know. It is just that I work with people with disabilites, and if I had a doller for every time a mum told me that she didn't notice anything was wrong until later I would be rich. I guess I just over examine every thing that he does. Also he doesn't say many words that the general public could understand, athough I understand what he is saying. Gosh - I have got many years of worrying ahead of me :)
-
Meg, River doesn't say anything really. Okay, after saying grace at dinnertime he said 'aweh' (I'm guessing 'amen') once. But he knows what I'm saying, and can follow instructions (when he wants to).
Each kid is so different, I've heard they only learn one thing at a time, so it just depends on what skill he's been focussing on developing. For Riv before he walked, it was his fine motor skills. Now he's concentrating on walking, just does circuits of the house and spins in circles. :P
Jodi, get LOTS of help in that first week while you settle in with the newie. Get as much help as you can. This is the start of our third week, and today wasn't a bad day, I got a load of washing done! Baby steps, just don't set yourself any big goals. Just look after the kids. And get to bed really early at night, get Heath to bring bub in for the last night feed. Oh, and have a stash of special toys and biscuits for when you're feeding, so you can lure a toddler away from naughty behaviour when you're helpless cos you're feeding. Riv is such an opportunist, sees me feeding and starts flicking switches and turning knobs. But he can't resist my stash of arrowroots, muahahaha...that's Mum-01:River-18... ah nuts, he's still ahead of me...
-
Meg- My MCHN doesn't even go thru those lists, she just sort of observed how she played and asked me if I had any worries, asked bout her speech and did weigh and height. We mainly discussed food cause I was having issues at the time. I wouldn't worry, I don't see how they can just use set things that they should be doing cause kids might not be interested in that type of thing. And not all kids do same thing at same time.
Glad you had fun at the farm, I want to go to the colloingwood farm at some stage. We just went to Cheltenham DFO cause not far from our place.
Belle- Hope none of you get the chicken pox. Its a worry, how is everything going at the childcare? Any more issues?
-
Hey girls
Meg- well to be honest i dont even do the checkups, i know im naughty. we havent even done our 18mths needles. I have all 3 o take for needles in a month so will do it then.
Annika sorta role plays, she will push a dolly round in a pram and wrap her up and rock her, she doesnt talk all that much. Though her fav work in mine atm,
Belle- hope you dont get the pox!!! how annoying that will be.
Jodi- i second what Nelle said, accept all help!!!!!!
Ok now i have one asleep (teleah) One flicking the light switch on and off (annika) and another with the hicups (MJ) better sort them out
-
Howdy ladies..
Thought id pop in and say heelloooo :hello:
Meg.. oh dont worry hun about the check up. I havent taken Jesse to his 18 months one as yet. He is the same with words. He can say words and sounds that i know what he means but no one else would. Like Tay is Ta/Thanks and ehh ehh means i need help, Boh for bottle and bah for banana etc. With roll play.. the best Jesse will do is pick up a phone and pretend to talk on it. Thats it. Blocks.. well, he can put some mega blocks together, but is more interested in cars and trucks than playing with blocks. Like the others have said, they all do things at different times. If he is progressing and you can see he is, then i really wouldnt worry too much. But if it is worrying you, always talk to someone about it, or get a second opinion. Some nurses are set in their ways and dont like to see the other side of the fence.. so always best in those cases to get a second opinion.
Jodi.. wow cant believe how fast your pregnancy has gone! You will be fine hun.. you will manage with 2. At times they may be demanding but you will find a way to get through it.
Chrissy.. how are you doing? Wont be long either!
We have moved Jesse into his new room. Still in his cot through (big bed is in there too). I just dont think hes mentally ready for a big bed yet. So amd going to wait a little while.. and if need be, will put Keira in a travel cot once she grows out of the cradle.
Pregnancy is going well. So far the little miss is alot more gentle than Jesse! which is nice.
Hope everyone else is well.
-
Chicken pox? Hoping you all dont get it.Would be most uncomfortable.
Hi kell! Hope jesse man went ok in his new room!
Just remember girls the first month is always full of new routines and teething problems.Poor maz was in hospital again with matueaz at that time but it gets easier.Dont closet yourself at home either.Get fresh air and try to go to your older kids routines like playgroup.Other mums get clucky and do help out! Well they did at mine anyway!
Hows the little liam going chrissy? still not trying to get out?
-
hi girls
meg..i never bring my kids to the MCHN, only really in the first 3 months i have, so i would really worry to much, as everyone has said, they all do things at differnt ages..my son never crawled, and now he is a champion cross country runner.
jodi..not long now hun, my advice is stay in hospital for as long as you can (if you can stand it) i had 3 under 3, and i made a point of getting lots of rest in hospital before going home, mind you, with caity i planned on staying there for a few extra nights, but couldnt handle it, only for me to come home with a neborn with my parents here, 4 kids and me and craig, only to have to cook everyone dinner..that pi$$ed me off big time.
kell.. we have the same for caity she is in her new room, but still in the cot, not in the big bed as yet.
beatrix..nice to see you.
nelle..boys never get over there wind it continues throughtout......caity had really bad wind, i sleep her on her tummy of a day time ( so i could watch her) but it went about 6 months.
maz..how you going hun? thinking of you.
belle..i hope you dont get the pox, when jessica first started school, she bought them home, and it went through us all, and nicole was only 3 months old, and i was hospilised.. not nice.
now for me:
nearly thought we were having a baby on sat night, had 6 hours of contractions, that kept me up to 3am, craig woke from his snoring slumber and was bit worried, but then went back to sleep..so luckily they all stopped just after 3am, was just about to ring the hospital.
yesterday saw the OB, and told her, and she just brushed it off, as if i was bull$hitting, then she got me up to exam me, and low and behold i was having a contraction as she was feeling for bubs...that made her eyes light up and finally took me serious..im already measuring 40 weeks..but i will be getting checked at 37 weeks to make sure im ready and an inducement date will be set.......so that means 2 weeks tomorrow..thank f##k
caddie: we posted at the same time, i checked out your shop yesterday......you are very talented
-
Jodi, you'll be fine chicky I promise! Its alot easier than everyone made it out to be to me. I got more stressed panicking about how I would cope than actually dealing with 2 under 2 and coping just fine. Plus when we go out (which is often) my friends jump all over me to steal Ripley away so I get some free time to eat without having to bounce him on my knee, feed him and have it go cold etc. I would recommend keeping Nina in daycare maybe one day a week during those first few months, it was my lifesaver when I needed a day to sleep. Oh and stuff the housework, Ive only just started doing it again now and Rips is 3.5mths! Cant be too bad because Im nuts to go for 3 under 3 lol Who knows maybe I got lucky with really easy going kids.
Will Heath be home to help for awhile? Does he care for Nina to let you rest? I get sleep in's every weekend while Ry takes care of BOTH boys (obviously Im not BF so that helps) because I hardly get any rest now Rips is awake longer during the day. Makes a huge difference.
Eh the housing is non existant up there. They said to call them at the start of May with 8wks to go and theyll consider upgrading us to a 4 bedroom but still cant guarantee there'll be any houses. I so dont want to have to rent privately.
-
Thanks for all of that advice. Has put my mind at ease, that's for sure. Chrissy - 3 under 3, you're a superwoman!!!!!!!!!
Heath is a huge help, always has been. When I was b/f Nina, he would always go and get her in the wee hours of the morning, change her nappy and bring her into me, then we'd all go back to sleep. We're already into the routine of him bathing Nina and putting her to bed. He's been doing that for a while, as we knew at around that time, I will most likely be attending to Emily. And as for sleep ins on the weekend, ALWAYS get them! I'm a little spoilt. Heath is an early riser, Nina and I aren't. So when Nina does wake in the mornings on the weekend, Heath will attend to her, until she starts demanding to see me
Nina is in daycare once a week ATM, and we're considering increasing that to 2 days a week once Emily arrives. We're not sure yet.
My biggest problem though, is asking and accepting help. Never have asked for it, and very rarely accept it when it's offered. So I know I have to snap out of that one soon.
meg - it must be hard with your line of work seeing what you see, and worrying so much about J. I'm another who never takes Nina to the MCHN. I hated seeing them. They always made me worry, even though she was doing fine.
chrissy - **** woman, how scary for you? How are you feeling now? He certainly wants out doesn't he. Thank god you're getting induced, I can see a very quick labour for you.
kel - great to see you, and also great to hear that Jesse is in his new room now. Just wait until you start seeing the signs that he's ready for the big bed, then move him in.
-
Just a quick hello - There have been some issue with our accom in London (again :( ) This time the fraud squad is involved.
WIll explain more when I get home from work.
-
Sounds like some of you girls are getting close to having babies! (the pregnant ones that is. :D)
Wow Meg, sounds fun. You're not staying with a little sister are you? Just sounds like the sort of fiasco my little sister would accidentally get caught up in. :P
Mum's taken Riv to playgroup, so I'm back in bed eating cereal while Si snoozes (I hope!) in the lounge. Decided I like putting him in his rocker during the day as opposed to his cradle, cos it sees him bend at the waist a bit more, which I think might help his wind...maybe?
Hope everyone is having a great morning, and hi to our lurkers too! :hello:
-
Gee not much luck there meg!
Just a note to say that regarding my store anyone that orders anything before may15th goes into a draw to win a mummy brag book! Thanks everyone.
-
Caddie - Your stuff is so gorgeous!!!!! We have a really talented bunch of girls in here!!! Congratulations on opening the store - I'm sure it will be a huge success!
Eta - couldn't resist, already bought something from you Caddie ;) $$ on way
-
God Meg, what is that all about?! Sounds like storyline off TV or something, can't wait to hear all details.
Jodi- Can't help on 2 under 2 but mum had 4 under 5 by the time she was 25 and she managed ok. She said you just do it cause you have to. It can be hard but take each day at a time. I know what you mean bout hating asking for help, I hate feeling like I'm putting people out yet I know they wouldn't mind cause I'd help someone out if they needed. I just don't like people thinking I can't manage or something iykwim.
AnnaT- Hope housing sorts out, if they don't give you what you need would you take a smaller place or rent privately?
Chrissy- Bloody hell! Are you sure he's gonna stay in there another 2 weeks? I have images of you giving birth on side road or doing a Nelle.
Kell- Good to see you again, I was wondering where you were at. You still have bit of time up your sleeve til you'll need the cot for bubs.
Df's birthday today so were going out for dinner with his parents and his brother and family. So I hope Ash decides to sleep (she is playing at the moment) cause we also have mums group this arvo and I don't want any crankiness at dinner or I won't be able to enjoy myself.
Caddie- Can I ask how much postage is to melbourne? I have my eye on 2 things so wanted a rough idea of postage costs. Ok its come up as free postage, hope thats right.
