hi ladies! nope! definitely won't spend $50 on a jump suit. am a bit of a miser...don't like buying stuff not on sale. it goes against my principles to pay full price for anything. :) specially since everything seems to go on sale every fortnight or so.
gl to babies getting their needles. is it just me or does it seem like the bubs aren't dealing as well with the 2nd lot of needles as the first? max will be getting her 2nd lot on monday. fingers crossed that all goes well.
agnes, i totally hear you on nannies and drivers. i miss that sooo much. i guess that was part of the struggle with motherhood/parenting for me. i think that i grew up expecting to have help (like nannies and maids and such) if and when i had a baby. and instead, i get thrown into motherhood without any of that AND no family either (and to think i'm youngest of 8 siblings). BUT i'm feeling pretty proud of myself coz' i've got a health baby and the house isn't a total pigsty yet. lol. btw, where's home country if you don't mind my asking?
renee, i agree don't worry about rory's weight. everyone says how they stop gaining as much weight at around this time. he is gaining weight though isn't he? i worried about max's weight coz' it deifnitely was not enough when i was trying to go full BF. now, i'm pretty confident that she'll be fine coz' i give her formula through the day.
arte, i can easily picture W with his face covered coz' max does that all the time...but when she's awake. she pulls her wrap over her face (or puts her open book) and plays peek-a-boo with us. we say "where's max?" and she pulls it off and gives us this big grin while we say "peek-a-boo".....was showing nanna via video call the other night and she said that she wouldn't have believed it if she hadn't seen and heard it for herself.
btw, for all those with families who are missing your bubs, have you tried video calls on windows messaging, yahoo messenger, or skype? all free. just need to have an acct (which is also free) and a camera...oh and obviously an internet connection. with ym, the other party doesn't even have to have a camera. i often put the camera on when my sisters in the states and manila are online and they watch her while we "chat".
hmmm....cars....dp still hasn't gotten his act together to get a car for himself. now, my car's aircon's been acting up since last year and he's been taking it to the bp for repairs. after about $600 spent on the local bp, it's now with bmw and he's just got a quote of $4000 to get it fixed!!! ouch! bmw guy is getting a quote from somewhere else though who they recommend but should be cheaper coz' he won't be using genuine parts but w/o the bmw guarantee/warranty on it. *sigh...never ending expense!!! so, max and i are still immobile. it's really so sad since we've only just got her to like car rides with putting her in the proper car seat (as opposed to capsule) facing forward.
ok...think i'm lucky to get this much typed up without being called to pay attention to her highness.

Just popping in to say hi while Logan has a snooze. Its been such beautiful weather here the last two days, Logan and I walked for almost an hour this morning....I think next time I had wear better shoes (as opposed to thongs). My bestie is taking me off to get pampered tomorrow as a ltae B'day present. I am looking forward to it, a whole 2 and a half hours being pampered. Dh is taking me to breakfast too.....gee I just realised how spoilt I am this weekend.
Sorry for no personals, will try and jump back on later. I have some housework I want to get done.
-
hey all!!
back from the gym lol went to pump class and then did 1/2 hour bike and 1/2 hour treadmill... its been so rainy here i cant get out for a walk and dp is going out to a mates birthday tonight so he was happy to look after Asha so i could have a little time :) signed up to start netball again too the other day so that will be good havnt played in a few years but am looking forward to it :)
Ashas been pretty good after her needles she did have a slight temp this morning when i brought her into bed with me so i gave her some panadol and she went back to sleep hehe...
agnes- the vaccine for me is 3 rounds so one left lol the dr assures me the last one is less painfull but i think he is just bluffing lol
pregpan - if you find the right carer he will be adored you just need to find that one person who puts a bit more effort in and specifically clicks with him it does happen but like md said fdc might be the way to go. a nanny sounds like a good idea too if you can afford it coz he will be in familiar surrounds :) goodluck with the needles
md - we just took the bottom inside bit out of our car seat so its kinda less capsuley the head restraint thing is still in though if that makes sence.. she dosnt really fit in there with the bottom bit in but we are unsure of her without it dunno what we are gonna do there lol.. thats cute with the free book :) did you get the possum majic one in hospy? my friend did you seem to get nothing here lol i am jelous!!
fianne - we do that here too on messenger so my friend and i can see how our bubbies are growing :) how does max go facing forward? how much does she weigh now.. as i was saying we are a bit unsure with our carseat atm...
arte - Asha does things like that lol pulling blankets or toys over her eyes when she wants to go to sleep..i think for her its a comfort thing rather than a light thing as she does it in the dark too hehe.. wow $50 jumpsuits!! my mum bought a $37 fred bare tshirt for asha i think its size 0 i wouldnt spend that much but ppl do lol..
-
hi noni! really impressed with your discipline to get to gym. my body says i need it but am generally too lazy. wake up in the morning with big plans which end up becoming nothing done by the end of the day. :)
max is only 6 kg (give or take a few)...but pretty okay with her neck. still not able to sit on her own or anything though. we tried the car seat last sunday and she seemed to enjoy the drive more. even fell asleep on the trip home without any grizzling at all. just saw her head nodding off and next time i turned around (maybe w/in 3 mins) she was asleep. she'd be about 62 cm....more or less.
katie, sounds like a weekend to look forward to. enjoy.
arte, in case you don't hear from me before you go away....best of luck with your move. will be waiting to hear how it all went after you get yourself settled back in nz.
-
here i am again...
so n had his jabs today and so far so good no dash to the hospy yet!! in fact i just took his temp and it is low.. i assume this is OK. he is in bed now sleeping - just went down... die for more panadols oon but i think i will wait, i hate giving it to him so i will keep taking temp and see how he goes.
thanks for the supportive comments re creche and options etc. i have our names on 3 FDC lists so hopefully i will get afew people to interview.. and have also called about nannies - also a waitlist... whatever happns i wont give up til we have a care option we are all happy with. for now he can stay at creche i guess... iw ill just dread thursdays!! at least i am not actuall yback at work yet, and hopefully one more personal option will come up before i do start working.
Fianne - it does seem that more of the bubs are upset by the vaccs this time.. i hope N does nmot have as strong a reaction as last time though! the nurse told me the reaction can be more as they already have some in their system. good luck with yours..
So it looks like our solids journey is about to begin... i thougth N was ready as he watches all the eating going on around him and chews and laughs when we have food near him... asked GP and he said to go for it as N is so big (8kg now)... and then when the nurse gave him the rotavirus vacc he was chewing and reached out to grab the syringe like he wanted more and she said he def wants to eat - he didnt even spit the vaccine out.. so i think this weekend we will try some rice cereal and maybe carrots on him... anything important i need to know - ie how do i make sure he doesnt get constipated? i assume i dont need to give him water etc as he will still get all liquid and nutrients from BF? i know solids now is just for texture/tastes etc. its exciting and daunting!
MD I didnt get a book!!!!
ETA - Fianne - THAT IS SO CUTE the peekaboo thing!
-
just had to jump on and say a big hooray :confetti: my best friends bub is hearing!!! he passed his hearing test today :)
-
Noni, Yay for your friend. They must be relieved!
Haley, After what those meanies at mothers group said the other day you sounded like you were doubting your decision and I hope all the talk of daycare isn't upsetting you. It really depends on each bub. Don't feel like child care is a bad option - if maddie is happy then it is a good choice for you. Each bub is different. DH's cousins baby has been in daycare since about 4 months (2.5 corrected) and he loves it whereas W won't even be separated from me for a couple of hours (because the boobs go with me lol).
Pregpan, good luck with the FDC or nanny, hope you find something that makes it easier to leave Master N.
Fianne, the peek a boo is very cute. Can't wait for things like that.
As W sat in his bouncer and burped half the alphabet I realised that I can't even remember when I last burped him. Must have been well over a month ago. He never seems to be bothered by wind so I guess he doesn't need it now if he can do it himself?
-
yes i was also thinking about you Hayley with my feelings about day care with Noah... I thought that firstly you must know how I am feeling and I have real sympathy for you as you know and also I hope you know that I dont feel anything negative abt creche for bubs - Noah will in fact still be going and my feelings about it all are much more to do with me and less to do with the creche itself. Also all bubs are different as Arte said... I hope I havent made you upset or anything with my venting and quite frankly my own indecision about what we will do (in so many ways - work, care etc etc my life is quite up in the air right now LOL!)
Noni - good news for Tarry that is great.
-
Hi everyone
I have been so slack lately - sorry! I have missed so much so I will have to get to reading and see what you've all been up to. Been so busy with work from home and trying to get some sleep. M is still waking a couple of times during the night for a feed which isn't the main problem - my biggest issue is I can't sleep during the night even when she is! The ceiling is getting really boring and I am getting really angry especially when DH can get M up for a feed lay down and fall asleep straight away while I am feeding and same again when she goes back to bed and I am still laying there.
Tried to get a nap in this morning when she had her 1st sleep of day for 2.5 hours!!! But still was just laying there with my eyes shut again!!! I am so buggered and don't know what to do.
Anyone else had issues with this? Any ideas?
Hope you've all had a great week - will get to some reading in between snoozes and try and send some responses.
-
Pregpan - I can totally sympathise and yes I have to admit reading about crappy childcare again did make me feel a bit unhappy, but I'm in a depressed mood about childcare this week lol. And I really know what you mean about childcare, its like they do what they have to do to keep baby happy, ie feed, sleep, but do they really spend quality one on one time with them? I highly doubt it, maybe 5 mins here and there, but they have so many other babies to keep their eyes on and most of them are toddling around getting into mischief. Besides when its not their bub I dont think they really care about their development iykwim. Definately go a Nanny if you can, soooo much better. I have been stressing my head off lately about this, but please dont let me stop you from talking about childcare and your feelings about it, because I know exactly where you are coming from. Wow definately sounds like Noah is ready for solids, good luck with it all!
Arte - Aw thanks for thinking of me!! :) Maddie is happy there I guess, but I'm more worried about the fact that no one can look after her as well as DP and I do iykwim. I havent burped Maddie for ages either. Good luck with your move, How exciting!!!!! Also Maddie sometimes pulls a blankie up around her face and like nuzzles it, when she is getting sleepy. I wonder if this means they are going to have a blankie that has to be toted around with them everywhere? lol so cute.
Noni - That is such great news about your friends bub. So happy for them! You are a very good girl getting into the gym, I havent been in a couple of weeks now. Slacker!!
Katie - Enjoy the pampering! How is little Logan going?
In regards to those bonds easysuits, I used one last night, it isn't an easy suit, its a one hell of a mission suit if you ask me! How do they go on??? :D
Went to my young mum's group today in the park. Lotsa fun. On the way there I had to get petrol, and this is a tad embarrasing but I dont know how to put fuel in my car. I've done it once or twice before lol. DP usually does it as he has a fuel card. Anyway I was desperate for fuel, I thought I had filled it up correctly and the lady looked at me funny and said "That'll be $1.65" HAHAHA I was humiliated. I gave it a second shot and I got 60 cents. By now I was almost crying I was so embarrassed. The lady had to come and show me how to do it. Talk about ditzy right!? I will never go back to that caltex again, I'm sure the lady must have thought I was the biggest tool out.
-
Bilby - Try some natural sleep spray. You spray it under your tongue. It helps me when I'm having a bad night.
Sherie - Aww poor Alister, that sounds terrible! I hope it heals soon.
Renee - Is Rory still going well on his solids?
Maydean - How was DD's first week at school?
-
Haley, I'm PMSL about your petrol station troubles lol. Don't feel bad though, I worked at a petrol station back in the day and there are a lot of people (all girls lol) that don't know how to do it. I had to ask once when I got a new car and couldn't get the petrol hatch to open - turns out there is a lever inside the car.
-
The woman must have thought I was the biggest ditz out. I still blush when I think about it!!
I have put a new pic up in my gallery of Maddie. I just took it before, her cheeks have all of a sudden come up all red. I dont know if its sunburn, as we were out at a park today, although we did keep under shade. Unless she got windburn? Also she has been drooling like a mad girl since I noticed it and has had the teether stuck in her gob for awhile as you can see in the pic. So I'm hoping its teeth, if its sunburn I am VERY naughty, big slap on the wrist for me. How could I have forgotten the sunscreen!?
-
hello ladies
last tues when b/f T i had what it seemed like uterus contractions - two big ones. Is this normal? could my uterus STILL be contracting? has anyone else had these feelings 4 months later?
-
hi everyone! question on breastfeeding....have got a hard lump on my breast and think that this is milk clogged up. i tried massaging and expressing but i couldn't get 5 mls expressing. (oh this was after feeding max). anyway, lump's there and it's getting me worried. is this mastitis? no fever though. and it's painful when i rub but i think that coz' i was massaging it earlier so now it feels a bit bruise-y. any tips on getting rid of it?
also, hayley, don't worry, i don't know how to fill the car up either. in fact, i've never done it! in manila, all service stations have attendants to fill it up for you. all you do is sit at the car and wait for them to fill it up and then give them your credit card and then they come back to the car for you to sign for it. and when we were on christmas island, they also had someone filling it up for you. and here in brisbane, i've always made sure that dp filled it up before i took the car. and the one time i had to fill the car up, i had my brother in law with me who did it for me. lol
-
hi supab! sorry can't help you coz i don't even know what that feels like. hope it's nothing.
-
supab - i was talking about this with a friends mum and she said she got contrax breastfeeding for ages it can happen unfortunately hope it dosnt happen again...
-
Hayley - LOL that petrol story was hilarious though I remember feeling just like that the 1st time I ever did it.
What is sleep spray and where would i get it?
Contractions - thats weird! No i haven't experienced anything like that at all. Had lots of other weird things happen but not that. Will be interested to hear if you find out...bit freaky for you.
-
Bilby, you can get sleep spray from the chemist. There is a Rescue Remedy one and a couple of other brands. Are you BF? I would ask the chemist first if you are.
Fianne, someone else will probably know better but I would suggest a warm bath/shower and to massage it in there. I think you are meant to go in a circular motion and work from the back down towards the nipple.
SupaB, not sure about the contraction pain. I had them for a couple of weeks after the birth but not random ones. I still feel sick when I am feeding -I can't eat or talk about food or I want to chuck.
-
Supa, I had that occasionally, pretty rare though (the last one was last week) If W sucks long enough (he is usually a quick feeder) then I can feel something like the contraction pains in the early months. But see how you feel over the next few days, if you still experience that continuously you might want to ask someone?
Fianne, sounds like blocked milk duct to me? Try to feed Max on that breast more often and position her chin on the lumpy area. A gentle massage towards the nipple while feeding can also help (also massage while you're taking a hot shower). Oh, you might want to use hot compress before feeding. This is just based on my experience, perhaps someone else here can give better advice than me ...
Hope the lump goes away soon and doesnt turn to anything worse.
If its still painful, you may want to call ABA or post something in the BF section?
Sorry havent had the chance to read the previous posts. Hope everyone is getting a good sleep tonight
-
I had a big long post typed out but I lost it...grrrr.
Hayley I am sure the petrol station attendent has seen it tones of times. We have one easy suit, once you get the hang of it they seem fine. Like all bonds stuff though you need a bigger size. My cheeks were the same as Maddies when I was getting teeth, if thats what it is I hope they are as painless as possible.
Supa I still get random contraction pain, its not very painful though so I dont worry about it.
Fianne I would put a warm washer on at the next feed and see if that clears it up. If it starts to get hot or painful or your worried then go to the Dr.
MD well done on scoring a book, we don't get anything :(
Bilby sorry I have no suggestions regarding the sleep, I hope you manage to catch a few zzz's soon though.
Pregpan good luck with FDC or a nanny, I imagine its hard enough putting bub in care let alone not being 100% comfortable with the care choice.
Noni I have been thinking about signing up to netball again. Sounds like your going great and getting into the exercise, just make sure you don't over do it you don't want to injur yourself or wear yourself out to much.
I hope Jazmum and LP pop in soon.
I cant remember anything else,so I am sorry to everyone I forgot. I hope all the bubbas who have needles recently are doing well. I have Logans 6 month shots next month, OMG 6 months already. Guess I should finish my cuppa and hit the hay.
-
Ozstar, we didn't get a book either. And they call QLD the Smart State.
DH had his last day at work today and has gone out for a company 'dinner' (read free booze up)
I have just been looking at the reputation points thing. I had no idea but you can give points to people for good posts! You can also see what posts people have given them to you for.
-
Gosh, so many posts last night!
Pregpan hun, try not to feel bad about yesterday, you gave it a try and you don't really like it, so now you just look at other avenues. Think of it this way though, it's a good thing you trialled it now instead of when you were back at work and had no choice kwim? If you can afford a nanny, then get one - I think you will be much happier with that situation. With the solids, just stick to farex and mix it to a somewhat sloppy consistency with EBM or use a fruit puree as they will be less likely to give him bowel troubles than going straight for the veges. So happy that N didn't have another bad reaction.
Hayley, Don't feel silly - some pumps are really hard to use. With our car we have fuel cards from caltex and BP and I only use the BP one locally as the pumps at the caltex are really hard to use - once I even stopped using it and went in and complained about it because it kept clicking off and they did it for me and said that it happens often. So I had to pay for 90cents of fuel and then the rest of it LOL. Maddys cheeks could either be a bit windburnt/chaffed or it could be from teething - my older three all got real rosy red cheeks with teething. I used to put a bit of sudocreme on them to help keep it moist and not dry out so much that it stung.
SupaB, Hi!! how is T? It could be that you might be getting AF back again soon or it could just be one of those things. If you are worried about it or it gets worse, then go and see your GP or ask your MCHN.
Fianne, how is the lump today?
Marydean, I'm not surprised E is that long - she looked really long the other day. I think she will be a gorgeous tall girl like H.
Katie, it still blows my mind to think that they will all be 6mths next month.
jaz, how is everyone settling back into the school routine? Did Z start kinder this year?
Bilby, I don't know what to suggest hun. Is it your work keeping you awake at night? Can you try to delegate time to it in the morning so you can use the rest of the day to wind down from work and not think about it? I hope you can get some decent sleep soon.
Noni, I haven't played netball since I was pg with Paige (stopped at 13wks) I would love to get back to it, but with DH's shiftwork, I wont always be able to get there.
Alister is another one who likes to have the blanket up near his face to sleep, and Paige was exactly the same and still does it with her blankie. I even took photos of him doing it the other day as all you could see was the top of his head and a little bit of arm LOL. Its waffle weave blanket, so its pretty breathable, but I pull it back off his face once he is asleep
I have no excuse not to exercise now - I have the treadmill all set up in our room rearing to go. I'm really excited about getting into it though.
With me having to give Alister the infants friend and then having the RV vacc, he is so not ready for solids - he has a bit of trouble swallowing it, so even if I wanted to, he's just not ready for them yet. And his skin is shocking ATM too. His dermatologist appt is on Wed so I haven't used anything on his skin for nearly 2wks so the Dr could see it in its full glory. He has really red sore looking patches over his knuckles, which is made worse by him having his fingers in his mouth all the time too. His bum is fine now though. I had been giving him a few extra doses of infants friend as it apparently keeps the regular and its really softened his poos up.
Hi to everyone else!
-
Sherie - This excema is a real pain for bubs isnt it. I have been doing alot of reading about it and I was suprised to find out that its actually really common. I'm sure the dermatologist can find something to help Alisters skin. Meanwhile Maddie's little patch on her face has really cleared up, I stopped using Johnsons products and switched to cetaphil and also just used paw paw ointment.
Arte - How do you look at reputation points? Dont think I'd have any, lol my advice always seems to come out all over the place. Cant get my words together!! How has DH pulled up this morning after his night on the booze? Oh my gosh I wonder why you feel sick while feeding? Is it like morning sickness all over again? Yuck.
Katie - 6 months is fast approaching thats for sure. Before we know it they will be toddling around and then we will know all about it! I dont want my baby to grow up too quickly :(
Pregpan - How are you going with sorting out Noah's care?
Fianne - How is the lump going? Have you sorted it out? Is it painful still? Sorry I cant be of much help but we arent BFing.
Maddie's cheeks are still red today, but I'm still confused whether its wind burn or teething. All morning she has been grabbing at my hands and pulling them to her mouth. Also last night we discovered a massive lump on her gum. I'm hoping its teeth. Anyway I have learnt my lesson big time, slip slop slap silly silly me. And considering I spent time on the phone to my sister a few days ago lecturing her about being out in the sun at the beach for too long haha.
Also just wondering, who here has a dog at home and how does it react around baby? DP wants to get a dog but I keep saying no, only because I am scared. Especially seeing as yesterday in the park, there were a couple of dogs wondering around and they kept coming over to us, where we had the babies on the picnic rugs. Everytime they came close I picked Maddie up and stood up, as did some of the other ladies. Its just scary because animals can be so unpredictable, whereas on the other hand we grew up with a rodhesian ridgeback (spelling?) and he was a very gentle dog, who would actually growl if strangers approached us kids.
-
Hayley, if its windburn sunscreen wont help a great deal - it does help, but windburn is different to sunburn because its more like a chaffing. Its always a problem when we take the kids in the boat - Dh and I get it too. With the dog situation, if you got a puppy, they would be fine with Maddy, as they are growing up with her kwim? Im a bit weary of strange dogs too. Even our dog has been known to snap at the kids if they pulled her tail or walk past while shes eating, but now they've learnt not to go too near her (she is fed at her kennel, but if the kids walk too close for her liking she will snap or bark at them) and not to pull her tail.
For the rep points, if you go into the user control panel, right down the bottom you can see how many points you have and the last 10 comments you've been given by other members. You also get them for post count and duration as a member. You have some Hayley because you have a green square just under your post count. Its a lovely idea and a way to let other members know you've appreciated their advice or just that you agree with what someone has said. You can choose to turn it off though if you want.
-
Re sunburn/windburn, I've always found a bit of moisturiser helps with the windburn - it stings a bit tho when you first put it on but feels better a while afterwards. Hayley, is M pink on her nose as well? If it's toothy rash, the top of her nose prolly won't be pink, although they can get a saliva rash around their nostrilly area too when the teething's really bad!
SupaB - if you're worried ask your MACH nurse/dr...it makes sense that you might still feel it sometimes as it's still the same hormone (oxytocin) that causes let down AND uterine contractions (including orgasm) they call it the luuuuuuurve hormone ROFL!
Hayley, I think with dogs and children both parties need to be trained how to behave around the other. My first dog Beags (now under the apple tree) was perfect with DD1, understood she was a little human from day dot and was just as good natured with her as everyone else. However, our current little dog is a bit nervous, so he's kept away & they are supervised together for short periods. He's not snappy or bitey, but we just don't know. We're always really careful to keep E higher then him (for dogs height is a measure of social status) so if she's playing on the floor, he leaves the room, if she's in her chair, he can stay in the room, etc). JMO, but I wouldn't be getting a puppy right now, too many unpredictables with the littlies, either leave it for a couple of years or get an older dog that is known to be well behaved. If you get them from the RSPCA they are temperament tested and matched to suitable families.
BTW, I'm ROFL about your petrol station adventure, you're never too old to learn something new!
Fianne, if you have a lump, keep massaging it in long strokes towards the nipple (if you can do this while you're feeding/expressing even better) and a warm facewasher or the heat from the shower might help too. It's not mastitis until it shows any of these signs of becoming inflamed - red, hot to the touch, increasing pain, fever or flu-like symptoms (I kid you not you can get a cough and everything!) is a sign to get to the drs for some ABs quick as you can. Often you can clear the blockage before it gets that bad though. Hope it's starting to feel better!
Sherie, i really should get H's blue book out and compare it with E. I wouldn't be surprised if she's taller than H in the long run, the younger kids often are, aren't they?
Noni, Yay for Tarry, what excellent news! :confetti: I bet your friend is relieved too! Well done on getting out there an exercising, I've still been a bit slack with that! My goal is to be able to walk up to the school (steep hill) without feeling like I'm about to pass out LOL - well sitting here isn't helping me do it!
Pregpan, did you go to the GP for N's needles...we were at the MACH clinic and I think they just routinely hand them out. Don't fret though, the vegetable book's pretty unexciting! Noni, we didn't get the Possum Magic one either, but that might've been a special book week thing, or just that particular state.
Katie, enjoy your day of being pampered today! Sounds loooooovely!
Bilby, not sleeping, that's awful. I do this breathing thing when I can't sleep, you breathe in slowly, hold, breathe out slowly then HOLD, etc...it's a Chi Kung thing and it works for me every time. Other thing, just check that you're not too hot/cold, sometimes it's the simple things that work the best.
Hope everyone else is having a gorgeous day, it's cool but sunny here today, my favorite weather! :D
-
Hayley - We had to give away our lab x retriever a month ago. He was a very very hyper dog....I mean he was a very active breed! We couldn’t walk out the back without him jumping all over us and licking us. We couldn’t take Rory out the back because he just didn’t understand that Rory wasn’t a play toy. Our 4 year old staffy couldn’t get a break either! It was our fault, we didn’t realise how much training a dog like that needed! And my being pg during his puppy stage didn’t help, I was so tired that I didn’t take him to training. Arghh to cut a long story short he is with a fantastic family with teenage kids, they take him to the beach & the park. They sent us some photo's and he looks like a brand new dog, it brought tears to my eyes!
Sooo what im trying to say is, make sure you pick a breed that suites you. Put a lot of work into the training. Continue to introduce Maddy and the puppy as much as you can, let them interact together and she will have a friend for life!!
Does everyone's Dr fill out bubs purple book??? Everytime I take Rory in for his Scheduled check ups the dr checks his heart, weight AND thats it. He just signs off the purple book. Is this right? Shouldnt he be checking Rory over thoroughly as shown in the book?
-
You mean the blue book? When I take Alister to the MCHN, she fills in the details of his weight etc in the consultations part, but when he has a scheduled check, she marks off everything and then signs it. Drs are notorious for not doing them properly though LOL.
-
quick post. lump's still there but not as sore as last night. might be smaller too. thanks so much for all the advice. :)

A quickie from me too.
Busy packing all day. Had to take the cat and dog to the kennels this morning in preparation for their flight home. I cried again. I hate leaving them there. They don't get the love they receive at home, just stuck in a kennel.
We sold our house this morning, a guy looked though and made an offer straight away. Cash buyer, no building or pest inspection and a 14 day settlement. We got the price we wanted too. Well, in between what we wanted and what we would take so we are happy with that.
Hayley, my dog is great around the baby. Will loves her, he has big grins everytime she walks past and she gives him the odd kiss which he loves. Make sure you investigate breeds and get something appropriate for your lifestyle ie something with a soft nature, not hyperactive. But regardless of what breed you get they all need training and puppies do take a lot of time which you may be short of with a soon to be toddler. I have a puppy on order, will possibly do obedience shows with it as my mum has several champ obedience dogs so she can help me train.

Mayday ... mayday! Crying bub in the house :( W is really unsettled today. No idea whether its from the immunization or from teething or something else ??? Sometimes motherhood does feel like a guessing game.
Sort of like his reaction to the 1st needles, not feeding well. He kept chewing his fingers and now that he has teeth, when I offered boobs, he bit me ... ouchie!
Lucky its not work day, so DH can help out a bit.
Okay enough complaining! Had a quick visit to the mall this afternoon and bought a teether book, small baby food pots (for solids), and some outlet plugs cover. Has anyone start baby proofing their house yet?
I havent started, but thought that we would definitely need the plugs cover once he starts crawling
Btw, for those starting solids already do you put bub on highchair?
We dont have highchair, but I bought a booster seat a couple of weeks ago. Hope I can just use that and attach it to the dining chair. Or probably even feed him in his swing or rocker LOL
Ok, off to read the posts

Arte - That is fantastic news about your house! Turned out perfect after all didnt it, cash buyer excellent! At least you know its a done deal already iykwim.
Fianne - At least the lump has gone down, it must be getting better.
Agnes - We havent started baby proofing the house yet, I was actually thinking about it this morning. We need to get on top of it as well, best to start early I guess. I havent got a high chair yet, but Maddie isnt yet on solids.
Sherie - The rep points are a good idea. I will have to remember to use it when someone offers great advice, but thats going to be hard, I will be giving them out left right and center, everyone on BB has good advice to offer. I'm loving BB! hehe.
Noni - I'm sure the mothers group girls will be lovely. And its so easy to get a convo going with complete strangers, its all does your baby sleep through, how often does your baby feed lol. Its really good though speaking to other mums. Not to mention getting out of the house, its great fun.
Renee - My doc is great, but she is a bit slack with the purple book as well. Wonder why they dont fill them out correctly?
Marydean - Its on her nose, OMG I'm so bad! Must be sunburn. Naughty! :(
Hmm dont know about getting a dog, thats another baby to look after and I'm so not ready lol!
Has anyone read Jo Frost's (Super Nanny) book called confident baby care? I had a quick look at it today at Kmart, it looks really good.
Grandma bought Maddie a Pidgeon Magmag cup - has anyone used one before? I'm not really sure what to do with it!?
Lp is still missing...bit worrying really... :(

Pregpan, glad Noah is okay with the needles. I am planning to go back to work when he is 8 or 9 months, probably part time first. TBH, I am also confused every time I think about it. I love working too and we also need the money, but I feel sad that I need to leave him with someone who doesnt know him like I do. Always a tough decision to make. GL with finding FDC / nanny.
MD, I might try the 'permission' thing next time around :p Sounds like E is growing well :) I think everyone could do better with a maid LOL Thats why I take off my hat to you mums with more than 1 kids, MD Sherie Jazmum Leanne LP ... (hope I am not forgetting anyone)
We didn't get any book either ...
Fianne, hope you're feeling better. Yep, you definitely should be proud of yourself, doing such a wonderful job on your own! I am from Indonesia, my grandparents moved there when they're young. I am flying there with W in March, just the two of us cause DH cant take annual leave.
The peekaboo thing is so cute, she is so clever!
Noni, yay for Tarry. Sounds like you've been exercising really well. I need to get my self on track here :p
Perhaps you can take panadol before the vaccine to make it less painful LOL just joking ;)
GL with mums group, I am sure you'll do okay. Its nice to talk to other mums with same age babies.
Bilby, sorry cant help much. Do you drink coffee at all? Hope you can get some sleep.
Hayley, LOL at the petrol story, thats hillarious. Just saw Maddie's photo, aaww she's so cute. Hope it wasnt sunburn. We took W to tulip fest when he was 4weeks old and he had sunburn. I still feel bad about it, I thought it was cloudy.
ETA What are you doing still online at this time :)
I have magmag, but W is not keen on it at the moment. Its supposed to be really good, you can put have different tops on the cups ... teat, spout, or straw. I am still trying to train him to take EBM, he still doesnt want it.
Arte, I am naughty I havent burped him either :p GL with the packing and the trip. We'll be thinking about you next week. YAY on the house :) Good terms and cash as well. I know what you mean, I hated parting with our pets (I used to have several dogs), so sad.
Sherie, GL with exercising. Its part of my new year resolution, but I am so bad I havent started anything yet :(
Hope Alister skin gets better soon, poor baby. W exzema still there, the gp gave a prescription for stronger hidrocortisone but I havent used it yet. I am afraid cause I need to put it on his cheeks next to his mouth. Not sure if its safe enough, he keeps rubbing his cheeks and putting his hands in his mouth.
Renee, we go to MCHN and she usually does the checking, although sometimes she skipped some parts.

Morning everyone.
I've heard the magmag cups are really good. I have never had one myself, but there was a thread about sippy cups on here ages ago and all the ones that had the magmag raved about it.
Our house is still sort of childproofed anyway. We don't have any power points down low and its still childproofed from the first three LOL. Although I did find that one babys attraction isn't the same for another - with Lindsay it was power cords, Erin ate bugs and moths and Paige was just into everything LMAO. Our kids were never worried about getting into cupboards either because we never put the locks on them so I guess once they saw that there wasn't anything exciting in there they weren't interested.
I always used to feed them in their rocker chair at first until they could sit without slouching all the time, so around the 6mth mark.
-
Sherie, LOL at what your other 3 played with :) I guess every kids is different then ...
We have lots of power points down low and DH is into electrical and computer gadget thingy so we definitely need to make sure at least the lounge room is safe when W starts crawling, i dont know when though ;)
-
You still have a bit of time up your sleeve (not long though LOL) when they start crawling as they are a bit hopeless at it at first so they aren't zooming off all over the place and into everything until they are a bit better at it. As time goes on though the height of the childproofing goes up - once you get the floor level stuff done, then its knee level because they are starting to reach higher, then they pull themselves up on stuff, so you can't get all of it at once and some babies aren't that bothered by the stuff they shouldn't have but you do it as you go. I remember fishing a dead spider out of Erin's mouth once - grossest thing she's ever done I think, but I swear I could vacuum twice a day and she would still find things to eat.
-
hmmm i am hating this weather!! one minute rain one minute sun makes ithard to get in the excersise!! my goal weightjust keeps dropping lower as i lose more weight lol its still well within the healthy range though!
sherie - ahhhhhhhh a dead spider!! thats a scary thought!! when asha was having solids i fed her in her bouncer too
agnes - i am such a sook lol i cant even swallow tablets without gagging, no idea how i managed to have a drug free labour!!! every little thing thats painful lol such a low pain tolerance!! the excersising thing is weird, the more i do the more i want to do.. hope i am not getting obsessed ive had a problem in the past...
haley - asha has a heinz sippy cup and she wont drink out of it lol she will however drink out of a pop top drink bottle lol so thats what we give her when shes having water.. we havnt started baby proofing here either and there is alot to do!!

Arte - Its a pain but you will get there eventually. Cant believe Will is 5 months old today, time flys!
Sherie - Yuck, its funny how everything goes into the mouth! Mum has a pic of me sitting in the garden eating sheep poo, disgusting!! Oh thanks I'll have a search for that thread.
Noni - Well done, keep up the hard work with the exercise. I was going to go to the gym today but kept finding excuses hehe whoops.
Agnes - We are the same with the electrical stuff around the home.
