HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the sound of Logans swing, im sure Rory would love one too!
Noni - Hope your appetite comes back soon. I couldnt eat for over a week when I came home from hospital. There was a few days when I only managed to eat an apple. Everyone got really worried about me. Mum & Dwayne wanted me to go to the doctors towards the end. I think it was a combinations of the abs and stressing myself out. I know its hard but please try to eat even if its only small portions :) Happy to hear the bleeding has settled down.
Pregpan - Rory loves the pram too :) He also loves his baths and the car seat but he hates his bassinette damn it! Noah sounds like quite the little sleeper isnt he! Hope your mum gets better too, poor thing not being able to cuddle her grandson.
ele_ven27 - Thank you so much for sharing your story. You mentioned feeling detached as a sign, I think I suffered this during my first week at home. I felt detached from everything. Home just felt like a house and I felt far away from DH too. Feeling wonderful now though :) Im glad you got through your troubles, you sound like a wonderful mother.
Sherie - Awwwwww I wish I could see alisters trick!
Marydean - My infection has cleared up completely thanx. I wish I knew what caused it in the first place. When I was having contractions on the Tuesday night (Rory was born Wed night) the midwife put me in a bath...I think I was 2cm dilated? I had already been in there a good half hour when I noticed the bath hadnt been cleaned! There was black hair and dirt floating around, YUCK. Anyway, I have been wondering if this could of caused an infection???
Went to the shops this afternoon to print some digital photo's. I cant stop taking photo's haha. I also bought up big on bra's too :)
Is it still a big NO NO to let a baby sleep on their belly??
Nights have been interesting lately. Rory seems to be sleeping less now than when I first brought him home. Last night he slept from 9:00 - 11:00 and then say 11:30 - 3:30 and from 3:30 he was quite restless but we managed to sleep on/off until 8:30. He managed to pee on me twice and spew on me once! If he doesnt get his afternoon naps he is SOOOOOOO cranky!
He is asleep at the moment and Im waiting for him to wake up so I can take him for a walk.
Does anyone's Dh's work really long hours??? Dh got home from work at 6:30 om (after leaving at 5:30am) had a quick cuddle, we had dinner, he took the dogs for a walk, he gave Rory a bath, I fed him while Dwayne had a shower and by 9:30Dwayne was fast asleep. Its really upsetting me that Dwayne cant spend the quality time with his son that he wants to....I guess its just the way it is.

Happy Birthday Katie - I hope you have a fabulous day and that the birthday treats have not ended yet! :)
11 - Thanks so much for sharing your PND experiences - I'm sure you have come to know your own inner strength having walked through this before - going to the depths and climbing out again. It sounds like you are an amazing woman and a wonderful mother too. Hehe I will look out for the Wonder Woman undies (my DH already reckons I've got bionic boobs) LOL.
Arte and Sherie - Me too on the shoes!! I *HATE* shoe shopping as I have abnormally long big toes as well as size 9.5 to 10 feet so the shoe shop rarely has my size and when they do at least half of them don't fit on account of my freaky toes!! I also love DF comfies, although I profess a not so secret addiction to wearing sandals and have been known to wear them in high winter (tho you will be relieved to hear, never with socks)!
Leanne you go girrrrrrl with the pressie buying. I'd love a pedicure too but I've got yuckky tinea so need to wait until that's under control first!
Sherie - Well the going out alone is more of a vague idea than a reality LOL, we have the FDC lady who will babysit DD1 and eventually DD2 too as well so somewhere in the future we *might* get out for dinner together...Alister's trick sounds cute as cute!
Pregpan - hope your mum gets better soon! Does the Baby Whisperer go into strict routines etc or are they flexy (I'm not big on strict routines but I've looked at that book in the bookshop a few times and wondered if it's any good).
Noni - I'm sure the eating will settle down soon, maybe just try to have lots of little tempting snacks to keep your tummy moving along nicely?
Renee - I'm sure it wasn't the bath that caused it - more likely general inflammation in the area leading to normal body bugs getting the chance to breed. That's the explanation I was given as presumably the theatre procedures were sterile and it had started to brew before they even took the plastic sticky covering off.
OK the Marydean saga continues - I DISOBEYED the hospy doctors orders to wait a week then see my GP - and saw my GP today. Feel completely vindicated. She agrees if I'm in more pain this week than I was last week then it's a sure sign all is not quiet in the state of Denmark. I'm walking like an old lady again and starting to moan through out the day (again). She has ordered an US and wee test and started me on MORE ABs - I'm sooooo glad I bought that large jar of acidophilus. She took my temp and I had a fever but my thermometer at home still has me at the normal temp so I wonder how long I've had a fever for and the stupid bl**dy thermometer's been telling fibs! Anyway I bought one of those ear thermometers (and got a free toy with it - hehe) and the other one's going in the BIN!
Big shout out to Jazmum, Mbear, Joasia, Noisuf, and all the others I've missed who are no doubt reading but too busy with babies to post!
-
What are DF shoes and where do I find them?
-
Arte, DF are the Diana Ferrari Supersoft range, they have nice comfy shoes - I usually get them at places like Myer and ? used to get them at Betts & Betts but last time I looked they didn't have them (might've been wrong season)?
-
Morning Ladies,
Re Diana Ferrari Shoes. Yes thats why I am going to the Factory Outlet shops today as I love the shoes they are the best around and I dont like paying full price though.
MD- I hope your wound gets better soon.
Well Last night Olivia only woke up at 12.30 am and didnt wake up till 6.00am this morning... Yipppee for mummy..... I hope she does it tonight....
Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day...
Happy Birthday to KATIE for Yesterday I hope you had a wonderful day.
-
A belated Happy Birthday to you Katie - glad you had a lovely day.
Leanne, Olivia was such a good girl to you last night, fingers crossed she does it again for you. I am a wee bit green about your outlet shopping trip today LOL. I hate paying full price too (It's my Scottish heritage coming out in me ;) ).
Marydean, I am really glad you trusted your instincts and went to the Dr, it doesn't sound good at all hun. Aside from the pain do you feel OK, like not sick or anything? I had a giggle at the thought of you in socks and sandals though, but I don't know how you do it in a ACT winter though. My SIL's sister has size 11 feet and she once went to a shop that stocked clothes for trannies and found some great shoes LOL.
Arte, I buy mine from Myer when the have their shoe sales and buy two pair at a time. My local Shoex shoeshop has them too and they go for about $90 a pair but worth every penny of it.
Renee, I let Alister sleep on his belly sometimes during the day and that way I can check on him. At night he is OK to sleep on his back. I think Jaz said that Hannah prefers to sleep on her belly. You're not *supposed* to do it, but if bubs is more comfy that way then why not I say. What did you decide about relactating? On the long hours front, when DH is on dayshift, he leaves home at 4.30am and gets home at 7.45pm - so yeah, I hear you on the long days. It's hard too as he isn't home during arsenic hour. But his shift is 4on, 4 off so it's not that hard to put up with kwim?
Katie, Logan is doing really well! I wake Alister sometimes for a feed too, especially if it is getting late in the day as I don't want it to put the rest of the night out of whack. I hate having to wake him though.
Alister had a good night again, it's just the late afternoons that are the trouble, but it's hardly surprising, they always seem to know when you're at your busiest LOL. Paige has conjunctivitis ATM and I am desperate for her to stay away from Alister so I am keeping him in my room today so I have a better chance of her not going near him. I also get paid the baby bonus tomorrow too - not that I get to see it because we have some pretty big bills to pay. Did anyone else notice that they have changed the rules so that the baby's birth has to be registered before you can get it paid? There must have been some rorting the system or something.
Hi to everyone else - I hope you all have a lovely day.
-
Sherie - DH has that Scottish heritage.
We were told they added the rule about registering because people weren't getting around to registering their babies births.
We just had a good night, 6pm feed, then sleep until 12, 4am, 8:30.
Ordered myself a Zoo feeding pillow yesterday.
MD - bad news on the wound, hope that clears up again soon.
11- Thanks for sharing your PND stories with us.
My apetite has also dropped significantly compared to pregnancy. Copeing quite well with just the 3 basic meals each day without snacks, and a piece of fruitcake at the 4am feed!!
-
Hi Cally, I wish I could bet Alister to go down at 6pm, it would make life a wee bit easier sometimes LOL.
Renee, I meant to say before too about your infection, I had been thinking about it and I think it's possible it came from having so many internals - you said you had 8 and that's a really excessive amount to have. Having so many internals can introduce the risk of infection too. But no doubt the bath could have contributed as well. I just wish it didn't happen at all to you.
-
I let Rory sleep on his belly last night and he loved it! He had the best sleep :) When he was on his back he kept waking himself up when I was trying to settle him. Last night I put him on his back and he fell asleep right away. Although I must admit that I didnt get the best sleep though, I kept getting up to check on him LOL! I am not going to do it all the time though.
Sherie - Yeah my whole labour seemed to consist of internal after internal. It was like a guessing game 'how dilated is the patient in labour suite 4' ha-ha. At one stage the midwife said 'yes you are fully dilated'! 'lets get ready to have a baby'! I pumped myself up saying 'I can do this, I can do this' only to find out she was wrong (AGAIN) and I was only 6cm and a CS was now on the cards!!
Glad Alister had a good night! Is it still hot over there?? Rory plays up at dinner time too ARGHHH! I end up running back and forth between the kitchen and his bouncer LOL!
Oh and a funny thing I remembered from the labour was there was a painting of cats in apartment buildings on the wall. When I was on the gas I kept asking Dwayne why there wasnt any ginger cats like milton and WHY wasnt Milton in the painting haha. I told him it was okay though because there was a brown one like Archi in there haha!
If I watch one more late night infomercial I am going to SCREAM!!!!!!!!! We are getting foxtel this week.
Well im off for a walk with Veronica this afternoon. Its a lovely day so it should be great :)
-
hi everyone
Belated happy birthday to Katie - sounds like you had a good day!
Marydean - glad you went to the dr, i think it is best to trust your gut (!!!) instinct with these things, you know how you feel and if something isnt right. Gosh I feel for all of you who are still recovering from the births, i feel pretty lucky that I am feeling so good. I must admit my appetite isnt gone... i seem to eat all the time... maybe it is a willpower thing not an appetite thing as i just eat all day!!! I have lost a lot of my preg weight so i guess maybe i need the food but i should watch it, DH seems to think i need to eat a lot still so he keeps buying me treats. I think he is worried i am going to get obsessive about getting my old bod back.. i must admit i am dying to get back into exercise - i have promised DH I wont do too much til my 6 wk check up - lots of walking at the moment but thats about it.
It sounds like all your bubs are pretty well behaved. I find the worst time for Noah is the morning - from say 7am to 12... he just wont sleep but he is tired and he cries a lot and wants to be cuddled. I have bought a sling so now i need to master it and that will make those hours easier for me. He has just gone off to sleep now, so I am about to have breakfast LOL! Last night he slept quite well for him, I fed him at 10.30 then 1.30 then 5 and then 8.30 - that is a good night in my book! i felt a lot better rested today. found myself getting quite snappy at Dh last night, i think it was the fatigue.
Renee - i hear you on the photography - i take soooo many! we just had a whole heap printed, i use an internet company and i have put together a few packages to send off to the grandparents and great grandparents of Noah's first week - he looks so different already though i am going to have to get more done soon! I am not sure about how you would have gotten the infection.. but that bath does sound pretty icky!!! ETA - we were posting at the same time!!! I am not sure about the front sleeping - I would be scared but if he sleeps better it couldbe a plan once in a while (maybe for day naps). it wont happen here - but that's more bc Noah screams when he is on his tum, i dont think he likes it!!! so it is ruled out anyway!
-
LOL Renee, that's what I do too at dinner time. Last night though I put him in the carrier and it made it a bit easier, but then I had to be careful of what I was doing as I couldn't see over the top of him properly. OMG at the midwife saying you were 10 and you were really only 6 - how could she possibly get that wrong? LMAO at you and the cat picture. When I was using the gas I kept mixing my words up. Once I was talking about Lindsay's broken arm to the midwife and I said 'elbow the xray' instead of 'xray the elbow' she near wet her pants laughing. It isn't as hot over here today, we had a cool change come through last night and it's quite pleasant today. Have a great afternoon with Veronica and Avaleigh too.
Pregpan, Im keen to get my body back too, but not that keen yet as I have to give up the choccies LOL. I still get a bit sore in the pelvis if I walk too far too quickly, so I can't really get into it yet. So I am savouring my last week with my stash ;)
-
Reneenay I hear you on the infomercials, lucky you getting foxtel. We had a look but dont think we can afford it and I worry about being stuck in a contract. I usually recoed a TV program at 8.30 or 9.30 and watch that while I feed Logan.
Sherie Logan's unsettled period is dinnertime too, lucky for me DH usually has him so I can get dinner ready. Most time I eat my dinner quick as though as I either have him in my lap or listen to him cry while I eat.
Pregpan I am doing lots of walking too and waiting until my six week checkup before doing anymore then that. I get pretty lazy though and will probably just stick to the walking. Remember all the housework you do counts as exercise as does any walking around shops (well I count it all :D).
Leeane lucky you have that great big sleep. I hope it keeps happening. Lucky you outlet shopping, hope you pick up soem real bargins.
I have just fed Logan and put him down for a sleep so I am off to have some lunch and clean the kitchen.
Have a great day!!
-
hi everyone - have been reading all of you posts, but not posting - as i've been taking Jess and Zoe swimming in the pool, and for trips to the park.
Hi to the ladies i haven't met - Mo and Kerry - looking forward to getting to know you :)
Renee - Sherie is right - i let Hannah sleep on her belly all of the time now. She settles much better, and because she has good neck control and can turn her head from side to side i feel a little better. I mentioned it to the nurse at clinic - and she said as long as i ensure that i follow all of the other rules with regards to sids. I still check on her every 5 minutes during the day though.
i too tried to get Hannah to settle by herself. I know when she is tired because she sounds like a kitten - with little meows! it's so cute. I tried a dummy - but the teats seem bigger than her mouth!!!! Anyway, she wouldn't settle with it, and kept spitting it out. Now i just put on my HAB and she falls asleep within a minute. Yay for foxtel! I don't know what i would do without it during my night stints.
ele- thanks for sharing your story with regards to pnd. Sounds like you have a very supportive dh as well.
Katie - Happy Birthday for yesterday. Hope you had a nice day :)
MD - I hope your infection starts to clear really quickly.
hi to everyone else :)
I took Hannah for her check up at the Paeditrician (sp?) and she is doing very nicely. Has put on another 200g in a week, and everything else seems to be fine. She is having a sleepy day today - perhaps because it is so hot. She is such a good girl for her mummy.
I was doing the groceries with the girls yesterday, and a woman commented on having 3 children. She asked me if bubs was a girl or a boy - when i told her it was a girl, she had the cheek to say "I bet your husband is disappointed.". I said "no actually, and how could anyone be disappointed with this little cutie!! As she was walking off i was hurtling every swear word at her (in my mind of course lol) I hate it when people say things like that. I need some sort of comeback for these people. And one for those that say, 'so i guess you'll be trying for a boy now". Any ideas?
-
OooOOoo Rory loves Avaleigh!! Check out the photograph I took on my website, SO CUTE! Gawd I cant believe Avaleigh is 10 weeks and Rory is only 3, they are the same size!!!
-
Sherie - Have you seen the movie Kinky Boots? Your SIL with the big feet would love it! :D Definitely get it out on DVD sometime if you haven't seen it... Yay for your baby bonus - even if you don't see it, it will be a relief to get those bills knocked over I'm sure!
Cally - go the fruitcake, it was the first thing I told DH to buy when we got home from hospy and I'm still going strong on it - haven't had any at 4.00am tho DH often gets me a hot milo in the wee hours!
Renee, to avoid running between kitchen and bouncer, put the bouncer IN the kitchen LOL! That's pretty funny about the cats in the painting too.
Pregpan, if E is going to be unsettled it is usually late morning-early afternoon, I don't think she's got the hang of being awake just yet - it's like she tries to doze off but is too alert and doesn't know what else to do with herself! The sling has been really handy, I hope you find yours useful too.
Sherie - had to laugh about you not being able to see making dinner as that is a definite problem with the baby bjorn - you can't look down! LOL The sling i had with DD1 was pretty simple so never had this problem - you get used to cooking standing side-on!
Katie - Any more birthday surprises last night?? Like you we record the programs we want to see and watch them when we're ready - usually watch whole chunks of series at a time - right now we're halfway thru Dr Who (daggy but hey there are worse sins, right?)!
Queenie - I thought of you yesterday while I was out doing a mini-op shop. Scored big time at Vinnies as they had just put out a whole heap of nice strawberry flavoured summery things in 000s, and we also found a newer nicer version of our daggy old rocker for $4 - so Miss E now has a spunky navy blue one instead of the old grey and pink 1980's monstrosity!
I would *love* to do some proper walking (still haven't made it to Floriade) but I'm sure we'll get there. I did my usual trick of ripping open the US report today and there is still some fluid behind the wound but nothing else scary sounding in there. Am feeling really tired, headachey and a bit weak like you do when you've got a bit of a fever, but less pain today which is good. I have to keep reminding myself it's early days yet, and I will get there, and my baby is healthy and we're all safe and everything else in life is good. I'm lucky Elisabeth is still sleeping as much as she is because I'm getting enough rest. We're just trying to line it up so that DH can return to work on shorter days for the first week or two to help me ease back into independence! DH thinks it will go down like a ton of lead ball bearings at his work...will find out later today.
ETA - Jazmum!! How rude! I think you should just say "Well you can't improve on perfection!" and leave them be!
Renee - Avaleigh and Rory - TOO CUTE - if you could only bottle it...! Really must get some of my photos online...
-
OMG Jaz, I hate that, it is downright rude when people say stuff like that. We've had people say to us how 'lucky' we are to have two of each now, I just say we are lucky to have 4 healthy children - maybe you could say that. Marydean's idea is good too. Has it been really hot up there lately? Hannah is doing really well too. Soon we will all be complaining that our babies are growing up too fast *sigh*.
Renee, that is such a cute photo! There really isn't that much difference between them is there? He is getting more and more like a 'mini Dwayne' with every pic! he has gorgeous skin too.
Marydean, I'm glad the u/s report didn't have anything too scary in it and hopefully you will be on the mend for good soon. I haven't seen the DVD you mentioned - I can't even remember the last time we hired one LOL, we are so boring here.
-
just a quick one theres way to much to reply too sorry :( though i will say ozstar i have never met anyone with the name noni or even heard of it the only one i know is noni hazelhurst on tv and her name is actually leone (sp)
asha has been really spewy still to the point where the last few feeds all of it came up, we have switched to a ha - ar formula for regurgitation and allergies shes had one feed so far and it has stayed down so fingers crossed...
still not managing to eat much had a small chips from hungry jacks and half a pack of two minute noodles today and feel sooooo full like i could explode...
oh well very tired atm got up at 5:30 and couldn't get back to sleep even though Asha went back to sleep think the not eating is making me tired or it could be iron again not sure anyway gotta run sorry for the lack of personals hope to catch up later :)
-
Noni, when you feel her, just let her rest for a while before trying to burp her, I find that helps when Alister is having a spewy day. I also don't actively try to burp him either, but just sit him upright and usually the burp comes out on it's own.
Re the name Noni, we did toss Noni around as a name when we were having Erin, but we didn't like the "Noni B" if you just used the surname initial LOL.
-
Renee - Thats a great photo!! HAHA They make such a cute couple dont they?! I cant wait to show Jason :P
-
Noni, in her younger days my mum used to get mistaken for Noni Hazelhurst all the time (they dont look anything alike now) so my mum called my sister Noni. I have met one other Noni and that was the anaethetist (sp) when I had my wisdom teeth taken out.
Renee that is the most adorable pic. Rory is gorgeous so is Avaleigh, what a cute little couple.
Jaz I would be ticked off too, some people are so rude.
MD no birthday surprises all of my family is in Sydney so it is just me and my DH and we dont ever really do much on our birthdays. I was more excited about Logan being a month old. That reminds me when people ask how old is he do you say a month or 4 weeks? When does it change? I am still saying 4 weeks as it sounds way cuter then a month :D
-
I say 'one month' being the date they were born on, like on october 18, Alister will be one month old, but will be four weeks old on the 16th.
We don't do much for our birthdays here either, it's just another day really and it's not like I feel any different to how I did the day before or how I will feel the day after LOL.
I put Alister to sleep at 4.30pm yesterday and he slept until I woke him at 7.30pm for a bath and a feed, then he was right back to sleep, and I thought 'oh, this is nice', but he was up again at 2am and stayed awake for nearly two hours then LOL. Little monkey ;). I just layed with him on the lounge and I could snooze and he was just happy laying there awake until he went back to sleep just after 4 am and I went back to bed. I am a bit tired today though. This morning he's been a bit windy/unsettled and spewy though so I hope he isn't coming down with the lurgy the other kids have had.
-
good morning all
Asha is doing better on the new formula weve had 3 or 4 feeds on it now and no spews so far... she has been a little unsettled though and wanting to eat every 2 hours or so hoping shes just recovering from having a pretty empty stomach with the reflux n getting used to it being full again this formula is thicker too so i think its just a matter of adjustment.. need to get a bottle warmer though coz shes drinking mosdt of the bottle then wanting the rest a few hrs later n a few times i must admit ive let her drink it cold coz i was half asleep :(
sherie - hope Alister isn't getting sick.. we used to get burps out of Ash just sitting her up too but nothing seems to come out now not sure whats going on.
-
Jaz - Arghh I would of been so mad! I cant believe how old little Hannah is already. Time is really going to fly by with a baby isnt it? Dwayne keeps saying he cant wait to kick the footy with Rory etc. I keep reminding him to cherish the moment and not wish it all away.
Noni - Im glad Asha is doing better onthe new formula :) How much formula is she drinking? Rory is having 120mls every 3-4 hours!
Sherie - I had the same sort of night too LOL! Rory slept from 7:00pm - 1:00am!!! I was so excited haha. But then he only slept from 1:30am - 3:30 and after that he was quite unsettled. Oh I hope Alister doesnt get sick! Oh speaking of.....
I agreed to look after my friends 13 month old today (with my mums help). My friend dropped her off in the morning and as she left for work she said 'oh she isnt sick' which I thought was strange as it was an out of the blue comment. A few minutes later I noticed she was snotty, chesty and coughing! I couldnt believe it, I had been given a SICK baby to look after. I couldnt believe she would risk Rory getting sick just so I would look after her baby. Anyway I called her up and told her to organise someone else to look after her. I am quite proud of myself for sticking up for myself and asking her to be taken home. After she left mum and I went nuts and sprayed glen20 everywhere and wiped antibacterial lotion on all the furniture. I hope Rory hasnt got the bug :(
Looking forward to the weekend so Dwayne can spend some time with our little man.
-
Good for you Renee! I know it must have been hard but you have to think of how hard it would be on Rory and the two of you if he did get sick. Fingers crossed he doesn't. Alister has about 120ml too, but sometimes will have up to 160ml. He only has 5 feeds a day though most of the time. What formula are you using? I am just using lactogen.
-
Hi Renee - Good on you for sticking up for yourself - she might at least have rung beforehand and said this is what is happening are you still ok to look after her...can I say I'm v. impressed that you are already combining looking after Rory with looking after other ppl's children as well - clearly you are a motherhood natural! :)
Sherie definitely fingers crossed Alister stays HEALTHY!
Katie I agree about weeks and months - I only count months on the anniversary of their birth and all the others are measured in weeks...actually it takes quite a long time to stop thinking in weeks as many of the developmental books you read talk about weeks too!
Speaking of development - does any one think it's normal if Elisabeth is still sleeping most of the time - she's really only awake 1/2 to 1 hour at a time and the rest of the time she's feeding (in mostly a half asleep state) or sleeping...I remember DD1 was too sleepy for feeds for the first week or so but more awake after that...is this normal?
I went to DH's work today as he got a medal...stood up too long at the morning tea afterwards and geez it hurt then. Anyway his boss has agreed to him working shorter days for a couple of weeks (mountains of paperwork as it's a very non-routine thing to ask for) but they'll do it as carer's leave. Dr told me today that I have to behave like I"m housebound for the next week to ten days *sigh* so I'm relying on you ladies to get me thru the cabin fever!
-
I have been using s26 gold but Dwayne went food shopping last night and bought s26 Gold - Alpha pro??? I am not sure what the difference is so I hope it doesn’t effect is belly.
How are the girls and Erin going with Alister?
-
Hello Ladies,
Renee- Its the same It should also say step 1 on the package. I use the same with Olivia. I just put her up to 180mls this week as she is wanting more.
Outlet shopping was good although I only bought 2 pairs on shoes. Sherie it got some DF shoes for $30 which I thought was a bargin. I also got a pair of roxy thongs for $10. Went shopping today too and got a pair of pants and a top.
Well I am 35 tomorrow and not in the mood for celebrating anymore. DH said we are having a bbq with family and friends coming over.
Jazmum- God people are rude. They say to me all the time how lucky Iam to have 2 boys and a girl well I just say I am happy to be able to have 3 healthy children and dont really care what sex they are.
I hope everyone had a wonderful day.
-
Hi Girls!
My first post in this new thread. Tia is sleeping and what a good girl she was today (brag brag).
Last night she slept from 11pm through to 5.30am and then was RAVENOUS for a feed and bit off the end of my nipple - he he, not really.
I bought her a Mam dummy today and tried her with it tonight as she has been sucking like mad on her mittens and making them soggy. I'm not sure this was the right thing to do, or if its too early for a dummy - are you ladies doing the dummy/soother thing? My mum didn't with me, i ended up sucking my thumb and now that thumb is smaller than the other. Its true!
-
Hey everyone,
Superblondie we are doing the dummy thing here. Logan really only has it when he is going to sleep and spits out just after he dozes off. I too was a thumb sucker.
Leanne HAAPY BIRTHDAY FOR TOMORROW (JIC I forget to pop in and say it). I hope you have a nice time at your BBQ
MD congrats to your DH what was the medal for?
Renee good on you for stanfding up for yourself and looking out for Rory, I hope he doesnt get sick.
Sherie how is Alister doing? Any signs of the lurgy?
Noni yay for Asha doing better on the new formula.
I am super excited tonight, we had photos taken of Logan last weekend and I have been waiting all week for them to be put on line. I got the email tonight and he looks so cute.
-
SupaB - Rory LOVES his NUK soother :) Although I did get in trouble from a midwife at the hossy for giving it to him. He (and me) couldnt live without it haha.
Oz - Cant wait to see the pics :)
Marydean - Im so glad your DH can work shorter days! Im green haha. Im so sorry you have had such a set back with your infection :( I hope it is on the mend now. I'll keep you company while your housebound ! ! ! I hired a whole bunch of weekly DVD's from video ezy during my first & second week. I only managed to watch bits and pieces of each movie though LOL!

Hi All
In a bit of a rush, as we just have Noah in bed and I want some quality time with dh before i head off to bed...
renee - good on you!!!! I am also really impressed you were going to be able to babysit and have rory - superwoman knickers for you!!! i am so glad you stood up for yourself, well done! i hope nothing passes to rory!
Sherie - hope A is doing well and not getting sick
MD - oh poor you being housebound - we will keep you company!
Jazmum - cannot believe how rude ppl are - crazy... u def have to have a good line to stump them with...
Leeanne - sounds like fab shopping - go the shoes!!!! I hope you have a fabulous bday (if I dont come on tomorrow to wish you happy bday then) - i think you sometimes have the best celebrations when you dont REALLY want them (no expectations) and it will be so lovely to spend the day with ppl who care so much for you.
Supa - Tia sounds like a dream...
MD - I am not sure re the sleepiness, Noah was also extremely sleepy til about this week when he is getting more and more alert...hopefully one of our experts will tell us some insights (hint hint Jaz, Sherie, Leeanne etc)
Well we are starting to try to get Noah into a bed time rythym - i am not into routines per se but i think i want some sort of rythym as his sleep patterns are not ideal *(esp when i hear what you are all getting LOL!). so we now do a bath, massage, feed, lullaby cd routine at sleep time. this is night 2 - so far so good! what do you all do???
ok better go - my tea is ready and a nice piece of cake!
Hope you are all doing well - have a great weekend...

hello everyone- thought i might post in here so that i could catch you all- the babies due in september thread has just about shut up shop (hi queenie!!!)(not surprisingly really!). Anyway, we're just getting ready to head off to hospital for my induction at 3pm. had a really bad night's sleep- too much anxiety, nerves and excitement. still haven't had any contractions or bloody show or anything- it's ridiculuos actually!
so we're gonna head to my dad's to drop the dog off (i've already had a cry, i miss her when i don't see her for a day, let alone 5 days!), then it's off to hospy to meet our little one. can't wait to finally find out what sex it is!
just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone from sep belly buddies for all your support and help over the last few weeks. i honestly don't know how i would've got through this last trimester (especially the two weeks past due date)without you guys (you know who you are!). looking forward to joining this new thread, and getting lots of help and advice about breast feeding and sleeping and all the other things we've got to look forward to. i've got ella's number for her to post my birth announcement, so keep a lookout over the next couple of days. thanks again and i'll speak to you all next week, gracie

well we figured out why she was eating every 2hrs lol coz she wasnt getting enough.. the thicker formula wasnt coming through the teats properly so she was drinking for as long but only getting half as much... as soon as we switched to medium flow teats she was drinking at all and back to her old self again :) got the bottle warmer too which has got to be one of the best inventions ever lol coz we have these little canisters made to store formula sitting inside the bottle so the waters in there and the formulas in tehre seperated from it so when ur ready you open it up tip in the formula shake it up and put it in the warmer for a few minutes and there u go lol makes night time feeding so easy!!!! those canisters are great for going out too saves carrying one of the bulkier containers that fit a few feeds coz they store inside the bottle :)
must put some more pics in my gallery think i will do that now havntuploaded the last few days ones but we have heaps on the pc already hehe so check them out when u get a chance :)
renee - Asha is now drinking around 120 mls every 4hrsish too sometimes a little bit before 4 hrs and at night one feed is a little after 4hrs closer to 5
supab - asha has had a dummy (nuk) from the second day she was at home, she only has it when shes hungry or a little grumpy but i am not worried about it they wouldnt have them for newborns if it wasnt ok thats what i figure anyway
-
LOL Noni, at least you've figured it out now. I have been using 3-6mth teats as he just takes so long to drink when I use the 0-3mth ones. I just use a small thermos with warm water in it for when I am out. I have a divided container for the formula. When making a bottle at home, I put the kettle on for just long enough to get the water to the right temp instead of boiling and then cooling it down.
Gracie, I don't think I'll get a wink of sleep tonight thinking about you hun. We've all come so far together haven't we? I know you will do great and I can't wait to hear the big news.
Chepie, Hello! Don't worry about how often you can get on, just so long as you pop in to let us know how you're all getting on we're happy :)
Pregpan, we don't have a routine as such here, I just bath Alister when he needs it (could be morning or night - I don't bath him everyday ATM as his skin is still a bit dry) and top-n-tail him in between baths. When he is a bit bigger he will have regular night baths. I haven't ever worried about the CD's or anything LOL - we're pretty casual here. I think if you can find something that works really well for you, then stick to it!
Katie, that's a really great pic of Logan in your ticker - are you going to upload some more? Alister is not showing any signs of the dreaded lurgy as yet - I really hope it stays that way.
Hi SupaB, Tia certainly is being a good girl for you. If you want to use a dummy then go for it. I think the whole concept of nipple confusion is a bit of a have really - they know which one is for comfort and which one is for food ;) I have been using a dummy (happy baby brand) since day dot with Alister LOL - after his first big feed in hospital he wouldn't settle without sucking and he was making me sore so I gave it to him.
Leanne, Happy Birthday for today hun. I hope you are more in the mood for a celebration today. The shoes sound like a real score - I am jealous LOL.
Renee, I don't think there would be much difference between them if they are the same brand. Check the ingredients panel on the back, there might be only a few small differences in content.
Marydean, I know that when some babies are born a bit early, they can be really sleepy for a while. I know she wasn't born that early, but if you are someone who tends to gestate for longer than normal (like your first pg) then she may have been a bit earlier kwim? She is otherwise well though you think?
I have a bit of a vent too. Today I went to town to buy some more panadol, eye ointment, cold and flu tabs for DH and some saline at the chemist and it was just my luck that I got the "saturday morning trainee' girl and it took me three times as long to get what I needed as she didn't know where or what anything was and I had to explain it to her in great detail why I wanted what I did. I have nothing against trainees as they all have to learn, but why to they have to work on one of the busiest days of the week?
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEANNE!!! Hope you have a great day with plenty of birthday surprises.
Sherie I know what you mean about having a trainee on durring the busy days, was there someone supervising her? Nothing worse then when you know what you want and just want to get in and out.
Noni good to hear Asha's feeding is sorted. HAd a look at your pics she is gorgeous.
Gracie GOOD LUCK, will be thinking of you. How exciting getting to meet your little bubba today.
Kez how is little Aiden doing?
Pregpan I like the sound of your routine, we don't have a routine just yet butmight start one soon. Probably just bath, play feed and bed or something along those lines.
Will have a go at uploading some pics to the gallery.
Hope your all ahving a fab weekend.

Looking forward to seeing some pics Katie!
Sherie - Argh how annoying! We had a trainee today at K-mart, it took us 15-20 minutes to get served. I’ve moved onto the 1-3 month teats too. I’ve been sterilizing the bottles etc, filling them with cooled boiled water, popping them on the shelf and heating the water as needed then adding the formula. But I’ve just read a thread that said you should not only store pre-made formula in the fridge (obviously) but the water too??? Arghhhhh its all so confusing!
Pregpan - I have been recording all of Rory's feeds and he tends to have a big feed between 7:00pm - 8:00pm to I work everything around then. He usually gets a cuddle with daddy, maybe a walk around the block in the pram, a bath if he needs one and then his 7:00pm - 8:00pm feed, cuddles with me and then I pop him into bed. I think we are going out for a bbq tonight and I’m stressing about how he will go without his routine!
Oh and I tried out the sock/shower idea. It was his first shower and he absolutely loved it!! I had a spare pair of brand new bonds fluffy bed socks which worked great to wash him with too :)
Gracie - Ill be thinking of you today. Hope all goes well. Looking forward to hearing from ella!!
Anyone heard from Mbear??????
Marydean - How are you feeling today? Are you having many visitors come around to keep you company??
Had a lovely browse around the shops today. Also managed to sit down and have a creamy hot cocoa from GJ :) Rory was soo wonderful. Oh did I mention that rory slept from 7:00pm - 1:30am Thursday night? Its working out that I am only getting up twice a night and occasionally three to pop his dummy back in.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend here. Its a lovely day here. I’m just waiting for Dh to come home.

Renee, maybe I'm a bit blase about the whole sterilising caper, but I have never kept the water in the fridge - I just use it as I need it from the kettle. I used to just boil it when I needed it and then cooled it down to the right temp, but then it was jsut so much easier and quicker to put the kettle on for a few seconds and the water is the right temp straight away. And I don't sterilise the bottles - just the teats and soon I wont sterilise them either. The thing with sterilising is that as soon as you take it out of the steriliser, it isn't sterile anymore. So long as you wash the bottles and teats with hot soapy water then you should never have an issue. I'm a bit funny about pre-making the formula too and prefer to just make it as I go.
Mbear has been on, but not been posting, so I'm thinking that all is well, but she's just too busy to post.

hmmmm water in the fridge??? i have ours straight from the kettle into the bottle and sitting on the bedside table with the formula in the canister inside the bottle and the lids on ready for the warmer lol.. with the day time bottles i have one bottle of boiled water next to the kettle and i use half that and half boiling water to make it the right temp... i do steralise bottles and dummies but i know once they are out its void and they sit next to the kettle with the lids on waiting to be used but i feel better if ive done it lol...
routine lol Asha has a bit of a feeding routine but apart from that lol nothing she certainly dosn't have a bath every day only had two since shes been home one in the small bath and one in the big bath with daddy which she enjoyed much more... she has quite dry skin though from being over cooked lol so maybe when that gets better lol... sometimes we go for a walk sometimes we don't sometimes we go out sometimes we dnt visitors atleast every second day lol shes pretty relaxed so we just go with the flow here lol...
renee - i finally got around to looking at your site rory is such a little man lol soooo cute and that pic of avaleigh and him lol they have matching dummies!!!!! sooo cute what size clothes is he in?? 000???
