Sherie, how did A go last night? I hope the bed arrangement has worked and he slept through again. W has been having some two hour stretches so that has been good - he will wake up every hour until I go to bed then slept for two hour stints until about 4ish then he kept waking and grizzling (I think I can see a new tooth coming).

Pregpan, I agree with whoever said the other day - write a baby cookbook and cash in on being a kitchen queen!

Noni, thanks for the info on the nappies. I am still deciding if I should give it a go.

MD, hope all is well and Miss E is sleeping for you. Is your DH back again?

Since he has started crawling W has been a mile a minute! He won't stay still for anything. When he is feeding to sleep he wriggles onto his tummy then hands and knees then sitting lol, it takes ages now. He drags toys across the lounge floor with him, DH is trying to dress him atm and he keeps climbing down off the couch lol. It is like he has just become aware of all the space around him rather than just sitting stationary (he never rolled on the floor or commando crawled) and he has to be everywhere all at once lol

Arte, the sleep went out the window again LOL, but it wasn't that bad - just needed to put his dummy back in and he was fine. I think he may have had a bit of a headache though - Paige was swinging a rather heavy toy around and clocked him right on the head with it last night and he has a lovely purple bruise and a big-ish egg to show for it. IKWYM about trying to get them dressed now - sometimes I feel like I have just don't 10 rounds in the wrestling ring LOL he is that hard to dress sometimes.

Arte. Yes DH is home and we now have a stint at QE2 booked and E is now sleeping nicely and getting up twice and going back down easily. The irony of that does not escape me. Who knows, it could just be all my efforts finally paying off. How are you feeling hun, hope that new tooth pops through so he's happy again soon. BTW well done for standing up for yourself at school!

E is pulling up on everything she can find now, we had a (funny for us) moment when she pulled up on a drawer that came out, she was dangling backwards holding on and squeaking when we rescued her. The drawer locks I've been nagging DH about suddenly got installed after that LOL! Oh and she's happily clapping too. :clap: Looks very pleased with herself when she does it.

Well Gracie, I've still got TDE, let us know how it goes. Thanks for that recommendation, I've reserved a couple of books at the library by him about resilience, esp in the 10+ age bracket (rapidly approaching in our house)!! I think DD was actually fretting about it more than she let on, she's been happy as larry all weekend and looks (physically) like there's a load off her shoulders.

BTW looks like I might be joining you in SAHMism for a while longer. Have discussed it with DH, with his trip and the move it's best if I apply for another 12 mths of leave without pay, that gives me another 6 or so months after we move to find more work (when I'm good and ready ;)). I'm pretty pleased cos I felt from the very beginning that 12 mths mat leave was just too short, 18 mths really the minimum I want before a gradual transition back to part time work. Just means we need to be a more frugal as our savings have just run out.

Sherie, I'm jealous of your new underwear. It's wall to wall maternity bras at my house - all starting to look pretty tired - all my undies are getting rather sad too. :(

Noni, yep it's a public school but our area school cluster is on the leading edge on restorative practice - they even had teachers go off to some huge international conference to present a paper about the model and how it's been working in our school! Haha in a private school they can just chuck the bullies out but in public schools they can't do that!

BTW I am spewing because I went to Target and they told me the FP sale was finished! Not happy Jan when some of you are still having it!

MD, yay for being a SAHM for longer! Cute about the drawer thing, W often slips while pulling up on the couch and ends up holding on but with his body lying on the ground and he makes a quiet repetitive eh sound until I rescue him

LMAO Arte! "Not happy Jan!" was in a commercial a few years back for advertising deadlines for the yellow pages phone book. The boss lady realises that her secretary missed the deadline to get the ad in the phone book and starts fuming at "Jan". Jan takes off out of the office and runs away and the boss opens the window and yells out to her "NOT HAPPY JAN!" It was a great ad LOL. Marydean my love! where have you been hiding yourself? I have missed you. Lets hope that Miss E makes the most of her Daddy being home and sleeps well for you so you can catch up. Any idea on when your date with QE2 is? And YAY for making the decision to stay home a bit longer - will also give you a lot less stress when the move happens than if you were working and trying to organise it.

Sherie, Umm I've been here...??? The QE2 thing is the last week in June but if the current trend keeps up we won't be going! I've always said 2 get ups is the goal so I think it might all have clicked into place, or maybe she's just finished the toofies she's been working on. Re the work, it's just not worth all the drama of going back for a couple of months, KWIM? It would be just as much work at their end rearranging themselves to accommodate my shorter hours too (only want to do 2 full or 3 shorter days).

Sherie - yay to A for sleeping all night. K did it twice(!!) last week, then she got a cold, but she's still only been waking up once. Fingers crossed she goes back to all night once she's feeling better.

re Dyson's - we have one, the slim version, it's great. Shame DH doesn't use it as much as he should though!

K is really pulling herself up on things now. Last night she worked out the bum shuffle, every time she jumped forwards, she would wave her hands in excitement, which of course meant that she would go forwards again. She's also got the hang of forwards commando crawling and she gets her bottom up in the air for proper crawling every now and then.

MD - the big test will be if she stays with the 2 wake ups once DH goes away next. Does he have another trip before you are booked in to QE2? Glad you worked out what to do with work, lucky you getting to stay home for so long.

Pregpan - hope you and N are fully recovered from your gastro incident.

DH said yesterday that he doesn't think we should have another baby - mainly because he is still waiting for his 'old wife' to come back. He doesn't think I would be able to cope with two. He is trying really hard, but everything he does seems to be wrong, and even though I know I am being crazy sometimes, I can't help it. So there certainly won't be any TTC happening here for at least some time (he often comes around to my way of thinking though).

K had a lovely time with her Granny last week. Can't believe they're not going to see her for 3 whole months! She will be so big.

Ok, ladies, just a little TDE question here - when you vacuum with your Dyson, do you get that dusty smell in the air?? That's the main reason I want one (HEPA filtering system thingo) because I can't stand that dusty smell you get after vacuuming.

Sherie, I was in on Friday but I've been trying not to hog the conversation in the thread too much. Trying not to make MD the centre of the universe LOL. Oh how dearly I would have loved to have been away. I feel like I'm due for our July anniversary weekend (sans kidlets) but this year he's leaving on our anniversary. :( I'll be lucky to get dinner out before he goes and even then I know I'll be sad. Gawd I hate the way his absence starts looming over me for such a long time before he goes!

Cally how do you feel about this? Do you feel like your old self? I guess you need to remember our bubbas aren't even 1 yo yet, it's a very labour-intensive time right now, plus we're all still hormonally affected by motherhood. This doesn't last forever, I remember clearly the point at which I started feeling more like myself again with DD1, it was well after the 1 y.o. mark. I know I'm a bit on the crazy side sometimes but i was like that before I had DD1 too LOL!

Cally, re QE2, no more big trips before we're booked in. However, I'll be doing more of the nighttime settling and making sure DH does it 'my way' too. I will know in a couple of weeks whether this is a temporary thing or not. Anyway I'll cope better when he goes on his big trip as I'll have the FDC time to catch up on sleep if I need to.

MD you should not hold back on your postings, if you want to post do it, we are all here to support each other. md yay for staying home longer - sounds like thats what tyou want which is fab. has e been back to FDC yet? i hope it is still going well.
Cally sounds like you had a fun trip up here... glad to hear it! and so happy Katie is doing so well after QE2. are you feeling better for that? how do you feel about not having any more babies? i guess it is still early days, we are all stil adjusting so decisions dont really have to be made yet!
I made pikelets yest for N, and he loved them - a great finger food option. I put whole egg in and it went down well too which is good... i meant to just do yolks but i forgot til he had eaten it!! v easy to make and i froze them individually so he can have one as a snack at fdc etc. i also made a delicious pear and vanilla puree and also one with apples, cinnamon and sultanas.. yum! he is well and truly back on his food!

Pregpan, yay that Noah is enjoying his food again - a sign that he's well and truly over his bug! :) I'm not quite up to pikelets yet, I've been a finger food chicken this time round but we're getting onto it now. I have no doubt E will wolf down whatever food I put in front of her, worried that she will stuff too much in at once LOL! The other thing I did all the time for DD1 was grated veggie fritters (bound with egg and a bit of flour) - similar to pikelets I guess but savoury. Pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, zucchini, carrot, all make good fritters!

feeling much sainer this morning after asha finally let me go back to sleep for a few hours this morning phew!! she woke up alot happier too which is a bonus!!
wow all these bubbies pulling themselves up i dnt think asha is even close to that yet :( shes only just getting the hang of crawling and shes still not overly quick.. ah well i am sure she will get there..
any bubbies with rash i strongly recomend a cream called 'weleda rash relief' best cream we have ever used has cleared up a very nasty rash very quickly:)
md - ohhh id be interested to know that too!! i hate that vaccum smell!! i have heard of people craving the vaccum smell during pregnancy lol yuuuuk!!! glad E is sleeping better again hope it lasts and u dont have to take the trip out to QE2 :) wow on the pblic schools the ones in this area are not good enough to send asha too which is why we are saving so if they are still that way we have other options..
cally - how do you feel about dh saying that to you? seems a little harsh but maybe i have it in the wrong context? congrats on K pulling herself up wow they are all growing up!!!
sherie -poor A with his egg lol how does it look today? you know what add i liked? it was a cash converters add where a guy was walking along fence and all he could here was "13" "13" over and over from a crowd behind the fence and he is trying to peak over and under etc etc and finally he finds a hole and looks through and someone pokes him in the eye and the crowd starts chanting "14" "14" hahahaha best add ever though i am not too sure what it had to do with cash converters lol..
arte - i think th enappies are def worth a try is W very rashy? ive found the cloth to be much kinder to ashas skin.. just buy a coupld to start with though if ur gonna try it because then if u dnt like it you can pretty easily sell them from wat i understand..

We've been a bit slack with the finger food too, must get onto it.

Sometimes I would like another baby, other times I don't think I would be able to handle it. The main reason is for K, that she would be missing out by not being a big sister. I am so close to my sisters and I would hate that she might miss out on that. At least she has a cousin only 6 mths younger.

I know I'm not my old self. Tiny things stress me out whereas before I think I was pretty easy going. And I am so emotional, I was bawling last night watching Sea Patrol!

Anyway, still plenty of time to make any decisions about it, as you said, it is still early days, she's still very little.

MD - quite frankly, can't remember about the dusty smell. Will be doing it today or tomorrow so will let you know.

Pregpan - I am REALLY glad that we went to QE2. We have our evenings back, even though all we do is sit on the couch and watch TV. DH told K the other night that it was bedtime as mummy and daddy wanted to do adults only things - eat cake and have a hot chocolate! And I was really struggling with the night waking, knowing that she is only going to wake once during the night makes me so much more relaxed and easy to sleep.

Woohoo, I saw K get from a lying down to a sitting position this morning. DH saw her once and she was sitting in the cot yesterday, but now I've finally seen it. Hard to believe that 6 weeks ago she couldn't even roll over, she is such a little mover now.

ETA Noni - I was fine with him saying it, I wasn't upset or anything, he'd sort of hinted like that before anyway.

Like you say, plenty of time - maybe this just means you're not ready YET. Give it another year or two (or four LOL) and I can guarantee you will feel different!

Noni - LOL at that ad, I remember it too! My current all time fave (not funny) is the nurofen ad with all the babies flying around with their fairy wings on. Aaaaaaaw! Thanks for the Weleda cream recommendation, E has popped a nappy rash the last week, poor thing, my usual tricks aren't working. I will get some of the cream when I FINALLY remember to get the teething powder (as predicted last week I forgot)!

cally -. well as long as you were ok with him saying it thats the main thing. i am not sure about having another baby either sometimes i want to sometimes i dont its hard!! its not on the cards for a while atleast yet!! the cream, its for both adults and children good for any type of rash it says (it does specifically say nappy rash on the packet too though)

hello everyone

just took lewis up to my work for a farewell morning tea for a friend who's going on maternity leave. he was a bit crabby (top teeth are just poking through the skin), poor little man, but everyone thought he was a spunk! was kind of weird being back at work, i didn't feel like i belonged there at all. let's just say i'm in no rush to get back LOL

md- the vacuum smell....mmmm...well, the dyson does have a smell but i can't quite put my finger on what it is yet. it's kind of a hot smell if that makes sense?? but it's def not dusty. i have asthma so i'm really conscious of that. trust me..the dyson is amazing....it's changed my life LOL

cally - just go with the flow and see how you feel later on, it's a massive adjustment being a mum. i have no social life now :)

as for the ttc the next one thing...well i wasn't going to say anything but seeing as how it's been brought up.........well.......
we're not 'trying' as such but we're not 'avoiding' it either iykwim???
let's just say we're not dtd very often but when we do, the only contraception we're using is breastfeeding. we're just kind of in the mindset 'if it happens,it happens'.

i would love a dd but my good friend who is a VCE biology teacher told me that none of those gender selection methods make any difference. does anyone know anything abvout this or used them themselves??

Gracie, my sis used the method to get a girl and did, but my friend used the method to get a girl and had their third son :lol:. I think between them they tried every method on earth but based on these stats it's still 50/50 as to whether it works LOL! Well how exciting, that's all I can say.

LOL at DP wanting to go no contraception, my DH did too - hasn't had his post-V swimmers checked yet - I got quite cranky with him, I mean what's the point of telling me no more babies if he's gonna chance it at the last possible moment. Just proving that men live in a little universe all of their own when it comes to Making Whahooty. :rolleyes: I still feel sad about having no more bubbas.
