OMG MD lol I just had a freak out big time about the nurofen. On the pack it says 6 - 12 mths 8 - 10 kgs 4ml. I dont know the difference between the infant drops & normal one? Its called nurofen for children from 3 months and it has like a syringe thing with it.
Jazmum - Sorry to hear about chloe. :( I'm sure she knows that you still all love her to bits!
Gracie - hehehe I've googled Madeline's name before and there are heaps of Madeline Ava's I didnt realise it was so popular. However her last name (DP's last name) is very very very rare so I'm sure she is the only one.
-
Morning,
MD I too want to learn to use the ergo in the back position. I know what you mean about needing a potter though. It looks easy enough on the DVD. I love it on the hip though.
Gracie I think my ergo is the same colour as yours. Blue and jade. I love it.
Jaz I hope Chole lasts a little longer for you. I was terribly sad when we lost our dog. I agree with Gracie about her knowing her place in the family. She must love having the kids around.
Off to mums group this morning, then another boring day here. Its raining too so we wont be able to play outside. Have a great day everyone.
-
Jaz, I'm so sorry to hear about Chloe. DH's dog Buster is on her last legs too, she's a sheepdog that he's had since he left school.
Hayley, that's too much - you must have a different one because on my bottle the dose is 1.5ml for 6-8kg bubs, 2ml for 8-10kg bubs and 2.5ml for 10-12kg bubs. The way I give it is lay him on my lap with his head tipped back slightly and put the syringe right to the back of his mouth and squirt it quick then rub his throat to make him swallow - works every time.
Gosh, I can't remember what's been said now LOL.
Gracie, I know people who've thought they were protected by BF but got a lovely surprise baby. Once BF babies start solids you lose a bit of that protection because you aren't BF as much.
With the ejaculations, that was in the info sheet that DH got. He joked too that we wouldn't do that in a whole year, but he doesn't do too badly in that department ;) Although it goes in fits and starts - we may not do it for a week or so, but then we might do it everynight for a week kwim? Plus his shiftwork puts hom off sometimes too. I don't think DH's tubes will ever be able to rejoin because they were fold back over on themselves before they were stitched so if we ever get another baby we will be calling him Houdini LMAO.
Alister had a good night - only 1 wakeup, but I was up for a few hours myself because all of a sudden I started getting these horrendous cramps - I've only just finished ovulating so I have no idea what is going on and it was quite scary TBH. I had to take 4 nurofen to ease it enough so I could lay down and then it was another hour or so till I was able to go back to sleep. I felt like I was going to vomit from the pain - I have never felt anything like it before, like a red hot poker was jammed in there and then my uterus clamped in a tightening vice. My stomach is sooo tender today it isn't funny. As soon as the Dr's is open I'm making an appointment.
-
ohh sherie- that doesn't sound too good at all. hope the dr sorts it out for you
katie- great choice on the ergo colours. do you wear yours side on, on the hip? i really need to watch the video again to work out how to do that. my friend borrowed my ergo for a week recently as she took a trip to sydney with her dd and didn't want to take her pram on the plane. she absolutely loved it and said she would've been lost without it.
hayley- ava is becoming a lot more popular now isn't it? one of my good friends is named ava.
-
hi all
quick post from me... so sorr things are hectic here. Noah is sick again - another stomach virus - we spent yesterdayafternoon and eve at the hospital as i was worried he was going to dehydrate - he was not even keeping bm down. oh it is a worry. DH is here atm (well he is at work now but at least home) but going on sat morning so i hope it has passed by then. anyway - will let you know but having a tough and busy time - and all the worry of course.
Hayley - my bottle of nurofen is the same as yours - i also have to give 4 ml. so there must be diff types.
sherie - sounds awful! you poor thing. i hope the dr can help. btw how did you go with the weleda teething paste?
jaz - so sorry bout chloe.
bbl girls.
-
Sherie - hope you get into the doctors quickly. Do you think it could be the endo back?
How long can you use the Ergo's for? We have the Bjorn, but I just find it a bit too uncomfortable for much more than 10 minutes. DH can use it for ages though. Using the Ergo on my back though sounds a lot easier and more comfortable.
Gracie - those mats at swimming look like so much fun, I want a go!! K will only crawl if there is a duck at the other end to go for. She showed up the 1yr old last lesson, the other girl was just refusing to move!
Leanne - hope Jordy is better after his hospital trip. Is it likely to re-occur? Aren't you organised with the party planning!
MD - Whoa, big bill!! My mobile bill was pretty huge after QE2, we just forgot to keep the convo's short.
Hayley - 10:00 bedtimes - my bedtime is now 8:30! I try and have lights out by 9 after reading only a chapter or 2. It was weird at my parents last week, they always used to go to bed early, but my sister and I were in bed at 8:30 each night and they were staying up and watching TV.
Arte - back to work in September.
Well yesterday K did proper forwards crawling!! She really has to concentrate though and drops back to commando if she wants to get somewhere fast. I washed and vacuumed the floors yesterday and her pants were absolutely filthy last night. Might have to do it again tomorrow. The Dyson didn't have a dusty smell though.
My parents headed off on their big trip yesterday. My sister was pretty upset when they left, she's been so lucky with having mum there helping her out with my niece, she's going to be really lonely now I think (her DH does some long hours). Might have to do some more frequent trips up to see her.
ETA Pregpan - poor little Noah (and poor you!) Hope he feels better soon and that you don't catch it.
ETA - we haven't introduced egg yet. Is it best to do it concentrated (ie scramble up a yolk for her, or just give her something with it in it (ie pikelets)?
-
Pregpan, not sure if the powder made a difference or not - I gave it, but then he had a really bad night and the next morning the tooth had broken the skin. So its hard to say really LOL. I haven't had to give it again as his teeth aren't bothering him now. The wakeups are just him losing his dummy or being cold. you should get some probiotics for Noah to help his gut get back to normal and populate it with good bacteria again. They really take a battering once they've had a good dose of a tummy bug - Lindsay was the same late last year, no sooner got over one and then he got it again. I gave him some In-Liven to help his gut recover.
Gracie, do you find that Lewis is too heavy in the carrier? I'm not game to get one incase Alister is just too heavy to carry for too long. he isn't as heavy as Lewis, but heavy enough kwim?
-
hey everyone
sorry ive been reading and not posting just sitting back a bit i regret it now though coz tehres sooo much to catch up on!!
sherie- glad alister only had one wake up.. hope its nothing serious with the cramps sounds scary! always the way though when they sleep well theres some reason you cant..
katie - enjoy mums group.. our mums grup hasnt done anything in ages lol.. lucky i made that friend up the road (the one who i went to school with but wasnt that close with at the time) she has a bub ashas age (born one day before) so atleast asha has someone to play with..
haley - our nurofen is the same.. and its kinda thick in consistancy! maybe we should get the other one although i dont like using a dropper 2mls sure would be easier!!
jazmum - sorry to hear about chloe. i know what you mean about her being your baby our dog jeordie was very much dps baby and now he hardly gets any attention we often worry he will run away because of it..
gracie - thats so cute i can just imagine him flapping like a fish haha i bet asha would just lay there too shes not great with the crawling yet lol or shed go backwards and slip off lol..
md - i didnt see that post did u google e's name? i am so lost..
arte - has W done painting before? asha did her first painting just two days ago lol
leanne - big hugs for you and jordy :) ashas really constipated at the moment too.. hope it clears him all up.. wow the boys 3rd birthday is pretty close to olivias first birthday isnt it hehe..
whats everyone doing for first birthdays?? i am trying to think of something but so far no success lol..
ETA - pregpan oh i hope noah gets better asap! what did the hospital say?
cally we have a baby bjorn too i really want an ergo :( i cant carry asha in the baby bjorn anymore shes waaaay too heavy! the ergo is so expensive though!
-
Hayley - Its called Hylands LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! He slept through last night, its magic :)
Aww Pregpan!!!!!!! God you must be sick with worry hon! I hope everyting is okay! Where do you think he is getting these bugs from?? Do you go to mothersgroup?? Anyway I hope he has a speedy recovery, thinking of you xxx
Oz - I migth have to try one :) Have fun at mothers group !
Jaz - sorry to hear about your dog, that is really sad. Give her lots of cuddles. I hope your okay, how are the girls?
Gracie - LOL @ lewis at swimming lessons. How long does your classes go for? I imagine Rory would do the same, he cant crawl either haha. The one I just bought was from a place called ''it space', and the other was from portmans. Hmmm im thinking of posting a pic of both the dresses so you guys can help me out LOL!
Ooooops im running late for mothersgroup, gotta run!
-
Hi Girls!
Sorry, I too have been guilty of reading the posts and not replying...now there is soo much to catch up on!
Jaz: massive big  to you and chloe. i hope that she is just being a fussy pot with the food! are you going to call the vet and ask if she's ok? maybe she just feels a bit under the weather. my dog stella went off her food recently and turns out the kangaroo meat that i gave her was packed with loads of bad bacteria...bad fur Mum!
Pregpan: sorry to hear the little guy is not feeling great. glad DH is around though, as it is really stressful having to make decisions with a sick bub on your own. hope he gets better soon!
Sherie: sorry to hear about the pain! know how you feel. i'd be off to the Drs too, just to make sure that all is ok. ahh being a woman is grand sometimes!
re the ergo. my friend has one for her boy (10 months) and he is almost 12kgs. she still uses it and loves it. although the back position is the best for him now that he is so big. leila is a little 'un, so the front and hip is still working a treat for us.
Cally: congrats on K for crawling! leila started last week and boy does she move! poor DH is not coping! LOL! she is also pulling herself up onto everything ATM. we have futon beds, so she thinks she's the bees knees when she climbs onto our bed...egad.
Renee: hope mums group is fun! i love ours, it's a few hours where you can drink coffee, eat cake and talk about babies and their poos and no-one cares! LOL!!
oh and quick question as we are talking about paracetamol doses...when they say 6-12 months and then give a weight of 8-10kgs, which one do you follow?? leila is almost 9 months and not yet at 7.5 kgs? so far i have been going by weight???
anyway best dash as i have to write a paper today...need all the luck i can get!
-
Hi everyone
thanks for all your thoughts :) Chloe is still with us, (thank goodness) but is still not eating. The girls are a little sad, I'm trying to prepare them for the time she passes.
Clare - thanks - she's quite old, and I think her time has come. She's walking very slowly and didn't even want to chase the frisbee (which for her is a major sign) I haven't phoned the vet, probably a bit worried that they might want to euthenise (spelling????) her. re the panadol - give the dose according to her weight.
Cally - re egg - i haven't given it to Hannah yet either. In my A K cookbook, she says to cook scrambled eggs - but to make sure the egg is really well cooked.
Sherie - hope you're feeling better today and the doctor saw you straight away. Sounds like you were in immense pain. Alister is doing well with his sleeping now isn't he.
Pregpan - you poor thing, and poor little Noah. I hope he starts to improve really quickly.
Renee - have fun at mothers group.
I think i'm starting to be a little anti social at the moment. I think i've gone through this phase with all three girls. All i want to do is be at home with my family. There have been a few morning teas at school/kindy that i have missed - and normally i like to be involved. I'm even a lot quieter when waiting with the mums in the afternoon. I just want to get home. Anyone else feel like this? Maybe i'm just feeling a little tired.
Geez i'm a sooky la la at the moment hey!!! lol.
-
JaZmum, I hope your poor Chloe is o.k. You should try the vets, it could be something as simple as a sore tooth putting her off her food. My IL's dog is about 16 and they thought he was done because he had fluid around his heart, was deaf and barely moved and then he had a course of antibiotics for something else and is doing well again. I would be very upset if my doggie got sick, I also feel guilty because she doesn't get much attention now that W is here.
Sherie - every night of the week! I think our record since W was 3 times in one week and that was a freak occurrence. I don't think we have been an every night couple since we were first together and we used to ditch uni lectures to stay home and shag lol the good old days.
Cas, good luck with your paper. I seem to remember life being easier a couple of weeks ago before W figured out this crawling business.
Renee, hope your mothers group is good. I am far happier now that I am going to playcentre, it makes a huge difference to get out of the house and talk to other people twice a week.
Noni, how are you? Hope everything is o.k. I know you were having a bit of trouble a few weeks ago, are you feeling better now? How is your DP's new job going? Any luck with houses?
MD, lucky Miss E didn't have a sinister namesake LOL. DH used to work with a Wayne Kerr. Every time they had a fire drill they firemen thought someone had added the name to the list as a joke lol Luckily DH has an uncommon surname, the only other W I can google with that name is DH's grandfather (whom he was named after)
I just went to the pharmacy and as luck would have it they have the entire Weleda range so I am going to give that a try because W kept waking with sad moans and grizzles last night. I can see big mounds on his gums but can't see any teeth there yet.
Does it matter which way they crawl? DH is worried because W is crawling using one foot and one knee. He has been reading up and is worried about coordination and thinks he needs to crawl the normal way. I thought as long as it was coordinated between both body sides it was alright, does anyone know anything about it? .
-
Arte, there isn't a right or a wrong way for them to do it. I don't think it would affect his co-ordination at all. A girl that was a bit younger than Lindsay used to get by with shuffling on her bum, but she would have one leg tucked down beside her and she would pull herself along with the other leg - strangest thing I ever saw LOL but it worked for her - by golly she was quick.
Jaz, I get like that sometimes too. I'm just not a 'stop and chat' person when I do the pick ups for school etc, but some mums get there at least 15mins early so they can sit and gossip. I like social events, but I can go for ages and not call my mum or see her or anything, I just prefer my own company at times.
-
Hi Girls,
Jazmum- I feel like that too. I am also feeling like I am becoming boring and not fun any more. I really dont know whats going on with me. When we do go out I would rather listen to everyone rather than talk. Really weird for me as I am the one that usually talks to everyone. Sorry to hear about chloe.
Claire- I go by weight when giving medi
Noni- Yeah lucky me I am starting to organise Olivias birthday too.
MD- I usually make the cake but dont want to do my head in this year so I have asked
my MIL to make it.
Olivia's Birthday - I was thinking of having a Pink Party
Cally- I hope it doesnt come back on Jordy. As for the Partys I try to be organised.
better go I have to do the wages.
-
Gosh, 1st birthdays - I haven't even thought that far ahead yet.
Leanne, I hope Jordy is OK after the prodecure and that it sorts him out - not to mention the stress levels on you hun. I can't believe the boys are nearly 3! you must surely be asking yourself where has that time gone.
-
Ive already started buying for Rory's 1st birthday haha! Ive bought pooh bear napkins, cups and paper plates. Ive also bought him two birthday prezzies! I need to order his pooh bear cake soon, im going to the same guy who made our wedding cake. It was Sooo beautiful and YUMMY!
Not too sure about playgroup, Rory was by far the youngest. All the other kids were about 15 months!!
Art - Sounds like his teeth are slowly coming through.
-
Hi everyone, just back from an excellent op shopping trip, scored some priceless kid's books in mint condition plus a gorgeous skirt for Miss H which I know she will just love! E was good as gold at FDC again, the FDC lady says she'll have 10 of the same, thanks very much LOL!
Jazmum - ooh poor Chloe. I was always scared to take Beags to the vet when she got old but a couple of times I put it off and it turned out it was something simple, like Arte said. Anyway, we knew for sure when the time came, it's like she knew she was ready to go. It will be sad leaving our house here because she's under the apple tree now. I still feel her around sometimes though, it's like I catch glimpses of her every now and again.
Sherie, ouch those pains sounds terrible. I hope the dr has some answers for you! Oh dear I'm pretty sure I need to be whisked off on some romantic weekend before I can muster the mojo on two consecutive nights LOL! I guess you've got to know how to entertain yourselves when you live in the country
Renee, keep going to playgroup hun! The bubs around Rory's age will start coming along once you get to the 1 yo-ish mark and by then you'll know everyone who's there already and it will be sweet.
Cally, re the egg yolk, I'm just going to start with a little bit in something, for two or three days in a row (and watch for a reaction), then I will start increasing the amount. Not quite ready for it yet, we're still starting on dairy right now. Ah your poor sis - you will definitely have to come up more often and just remember MD is always up for a coffee/or a playdate for the girls somewhere (I've just learnt all about places that have play rooms in the ACT). :)
Well I have most definitely made a new friend too, I think we might be doing coffee next week!
Noni, I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering how you're getting along. Are you still doing WW's? I bought some scales because that's the only way I'm ever going to motivate myself plus I'm really just hungry all the time. Re the soups, I've decided I'm going to pick a veggie soup each week and make a pot because it's a nice filling snack that's actually pretty healthy. I'm going to start with mushroom soup this weekend - yum! I googled E's name (first name surname) and it turns out there's this really famous jazz/broadway singer that only died recently with the exact same name LOL!
Ahh, I've forgotten everything else, brain dump, I think I need to go and wake up el brainio with a cup of tea.
-
Arte: LOL! ditching lectures for afternoon shennanigans was an institution for DH and i in the early days!...
Renee: bummer that the other kiddies are so much older! have you joined through playgroup? is there any other groups that you could check out?? although you never know, it may turn out to be fun after all! especially as the bubs get older and the months dont make so much of a difference...leila is the oldest in her group by at least 2 months. the biggest gap is 5 months, and at this early stage it is a big difference: especially now that she is crawling! i can see the fear in the eyes of the other mums as my daughter beelines for their bubs toys!! LOL!!
Jaz: yeah, IKWYM about calling the vet. i did the same with my cat Cassius.
-
Clare, ah, just remembered what I was going to post that I forgot -about your paracetamol - I usually just give where in the range I think DD is. If DD is at the bottom end of the weight range, I give the lowest dose, if she's in the middle, I give an amount in the middle of the range and if she's near the top I give the full dose. Sometimes I err on 0.1ml more because we often get a bit spat out.
Hayley - sorry hun I didn't mean to alarm you, I'm just always paranoid about (me) not reading the label properly and then I thought you probably have a different mixture. If you ask for the infant drops at the pharmacy then you'll only have to give 2 mls which is a lot easier to get in!
-
How many bubs are still having 3 day sleeps? I'm considering ditching K's third sleep, we've had so little luck with getting her down for it lately and frankly I'm over going in every couple of minutes to resettle her constantly for 45 minutes. At least if she is up I can get something done!
-
Nope, only 2 sleeps here, Cally! You might have to stretch Katie a bit so the 2 nap times suit you a bit better.
-
hi everyone
SHERIE - how are you hon? been thinking of you all day!
Clare - aaah so thats where you got your name from - i'd love to know how all of us with not IRL names chose them. Mine is that my DH callsme pan (pronounced pun)and so I chose that name when i was pregnant. i wonder if i should chg it to mumpan now LOL!!! or just wait and freak you all out with a chg to pregagainpan when the time comes... yeah it hink i will do that!!
MD - I will also be up for coffee soon i promise - i am so sorry we havent been able to meet up, i am taking some time to adjust to this new work/home balance etc and having DH away so much but i will be back on the social scene too i am sure.
Jaz i know how you feel - i go through stages like that too... i was v antisocial when i was preg.
Renee - keep going to the playgroup for a few wks and see how it turns out, as the others said maybe the age gaps wont feel so big in a few months? and at least the other mums there will bea good souce for info??
I have just started to think about N'd 1st bday - dont know if i should do something here or back in melb (or both) - thinking maybe something kiddy like for the kids - some sort of theme and then champagne ****tails for thw adults to celebrate DH and I making it through year 1 LOL!! after all 1st bday parties are pretty much more for the parents dont you think. I will def tall our friends no presents (maybe charity donation or gifts for the women's shelter or something) as mr N is rather spoilt and I dont want it to be an expense for our friends to celebrate with us. I guess we are priveleged enough to be able to buy him what he wants/needs now and he doesnt know if he gets a gift so i would prefer it not to be a gift fest!
MD i will have to google N's name - how bizarre. funny i never thought to do that when i names him i hope there isnt some famous axe murderer out there with his name!! LOL!
ETA Cally - we are lucky to get 2 day sleeps now... and they are SHORT! little bugger!
-
Arte - I read in a book just the other day that it doesnt matter how bubs crawl, just as long as they are moving around. Some bubs even bottle shuffle apparently and I had to check that out on you tube because I didnt know what it is. Its so cute!!!
Pregpan - I've often wondered where you got your screen name from! LMAO at the pregagainpan!!! How is Noah doing? So sorry to hear that he's unwell again.
Leanne - I LOVE the idea of a pink party!
Cally - We have two sleeps here as well, but every now and then she slips in a short third nap. If you keep her up will she be a grumpy bum come bed time? I wish I could go to bed at 8.30 but I feel like I dont stop running around the house till 9ish, then I need time to unwind. When I was pregnant I was tucked up in bed by 9, I was so exhausted.
Renee - Oh thats a shame that the kids were much older. Are you going to go back? You are so organised, I havent even thought of a 1st birthday yet. I am off to the chemist this arvo thanks for your tip!!
MD - I like your idea with the egg. Introducing egg makes me nervous. Do you think its something that can wait till 12 months or should I try it earlier than that? I cant get Maddie to eat meat let alone egg lol.
Jazmum - I've always been a bit of a homebody. Even at 18 when going out with friends I couldnt wait to get home lol. I dont think its such a big deal, you arent totally antisocial you still go out and do things. I'm so sorry about Chloe. We lost our family dog when I was 15 and we'd had him since I was about 1. My mum had him cremated and we scattered some of his ashes in Denmark (south WA Denmark not o/seas LOL) and some in Lancelin (north of Perth) as we lived in Denmark for years and spent many many weekends and holidays at Lancelin, he loved both places. Its very sad, they become part of your family. :( She sounds like she has lived a great life so far.
Sherie - My gosh what did the doc say? Sounds painful.
Clare - Congrats on the crawling!!!
Noni - Yep I am off to get the dropper neurofen today, I didnt even know there was a difference. Sounds alot easier than trying to get the thick 4 mls down bub's throat!
Girls I am SO proud of myself. I got a friggen HD (high distinction) for my first uni essay. To top it off the lecturer told me out of a class of 80ish only five people got HD's and I was one of em WOO HOO!!
-
Hayley - You go girl!!!!!! I'm so proud of you - in an online buddy kind of way;)
re egg - my gp told me to have given Hannah egg before her 12 month immunisation - something to do with the way they produce the vaccine. Sherie or Marydean may have a more knowledgeable answer for you.
pregpan - is 'pan' a shorter version of your name? How is your little man today?
i like your idea about party guests donating money instead of a present. I would like to do that too, but i don't want Hannah to grow up and say ' Hey guys, why did you choose me to be the charitable one??"
re my name - you've probably guessed that it stands for Jessica and Zoe's mum. On a couple of sites that require passwords, i'm now JaZaHMum.
Cally - Hannah has 2 sleeps only because we're in and out of the house so much. She always looks ready for a sleep after being awake for 2 hours.
glad to see i'm not the only one with the anti-social tendencies at present :p (that's me being anti-social lol)
leanne - i tend to be a listener as well. I guess at the moment all i have to offer conversation wise is to with my kids (and the crap shows i watch on tv!!)
My bubba is 9 months old today!!!
-
Hayley, WOOHOO on the HD, well done.
Noni, it was W's first time painting. We did it outside on the deck on the shower curtain I use under the high chair. It was very messy and I spent most of the time trying to keep everything out of his mouth lol
Pregpan, I have always wondered where your name came from. Mine is just a mix of my cat and dog, Artemis and Chimaera.
MD, yay for your new friend! Makes life a lot better.
Sherie, hope you got in to see the doctor about that pain. Do you have any ovarian cysts? I have heard similar descriptions when a cyst pops.
Cally, some days W has 3 naps, but since we started playgroup twice a week he more often has 2 a day now, one at lunchtime when we get home and another around 3 or 4. Sometimes if we are at home he will have a morning one too. I would give it a try skipping it, it is a PITA when you have to keep going in there. Where abouts are your parents going (I am sure you have said but I forgot)
I tried the Weleda powder, not sure what the go was though - he had the grizzliest afternoon of his entire life. And DH was away for a work dinner (read free 5 star food and drink while I am at home with grumpy baby). I gave him some panadol, but even that didn't do a lot.
-
that's so cool about all the names!! and now with you guys explaining them it all makes sense!! LOL!
Thanks for the info on panadol! i was having doubts as to what we were giving her, but now i feel much better!
Leila had a great day at kindy today. the old carer is back and i think the fact that she can crawl is helping...no more frustration at watching the other bubs go by...
Hayley::dance: woo hoo on the HD! pretty frikkin impressive being one of only 5! the good news is that the lecturer will remember you next time, not just another face in the crowd! work it baby work it!! LOL!
Cally: we usually just have the 2 sleeps. sometimes though leila will have an extra one thrown in...
JazMum: congrats to H on the 9 month mark! it's so strange seeing our little bubs growing so fast. i have been updating leila's memory book and looking back at her when she was just born sent twinges all through me! not that i miss the 2-3 hourly feeds and sleepless nights though!!
yep, have to say that i am not big on convos or going out lately either...at mums group i tend to be pretty quiet. every week we go through what we did the last week and i can never remember!
-
Might stretch her out a bit then during the day. She isn't particularly grumpy if she doesn't have the last sleep, but she looks exhausted (I had 4 yawns during dinner and she had bags under her eyes). Might stick with the third nap on days when she only has a short morning nap.
Arte - my parents are going on a 4WD trip to the Kimberley area. They are doing approximately 17,000km. I hate to imagine how much they are spending on fuel!!
Well my name is related to my real life name (Caroline). My nickname is Cal, but DH always calls me Cally.
Hayley - Yay on the HD!! Way to go, very impressive when you haven't studied for a while and fitting it in around Maddie. Once DD is in bed it is relaxing time. I try and do all my chores during the day fitting in around sleeps so then it is blobby time. DH does the dishes while I put K to bed so it is always nice to come back out to a nice clean kitchen.
Pregpan - will have to get the 3 of us together when I am up in Canberra, I want to see N's gorgeous hair IRL!!
Re egg - if a recipe calls for 2 eggs, but I am just doing yolk, should I do 3?
-
here here on a canberra catch up! we are going to be in 'the nations capital' just after the 11 june (DH has a job in wollongong so we are checking the place out - driving - egad)...so if anyone wants to break out of the house for coffee we should tee it up!
-
Pregpan, I love your Pregagainpan idea too! :crossfingers: it all happens just when you want it to! Yes I'll hold you to your promise of a coffee sometime! You have been so busy, I don't know how you do it all. As you know I gave up trying to be superwoman back in April LOL. Poor Noah, can't believe he's unwell again. Sherie's idea of some good probiotics is very sound.
Hayley, yep I'm nervous about eggs too. I'm going to hold off for another month or two before we do yolks (only so that I can do fritters and custards) then won't do whites until a bit after that (we should be past 12 mths by then). No need to do it before then if you don't want to, as I understand. I'm only just starting to eat the occasional peanut myself, and I haven't had any seafood either. Nervous Nelly LOL! Congrats on the HD :cheer:, they are not handed out easily at uni!!
JaZaHMum - LOL - That's a good one. I think you and I could quite happily natter on about our kids and the telly, nothing boring about that ;)! Yay for 9 month old Hanny!
My name - contrary to popular belief - is a marriage of my and DH's middle names. I like it cos it's kinda like one of those funny american doublebarrelled names like SallyJean or SueEllen LOL!
Arte, wow you have cool pet names! My pet name combo would have to be PussyFluff LOL After Puss (whose real name is Sappho) and Boston FluffyChops. PMSL I wonder if the mods would let me have that one! E was really unsettled this afternoon and flat refused to go down for her late arvo sleep. DH put her to bed for the night early so she will be waking up thirsty, soon, I think!
Cally, you can either add some extra yolk or you can add some cornflour (15ml per egg) and a bit of extra water too. That's for recipes where you use the yolk to bind, or in custards, etc.
Noni - I was thinking about you today cos my little neice has an ear infection but was complaining about a sore throat and I wondered if your sore throat/tongue got better?
ETA - Clare I have PMed you! :D
-
hiya md - speaking of telly, did you watch the hypnotist on big brother tonight? I had Hannah asleep on me, and i was having a good old laugh. I was sure i was going to wake her.
-
No, but I've got it on tape. Can't wait to watch it! LOL
-
Cally, I have always wondered if Cally was your real name, I like it. I really want to go to the Kimberly area, hopefully we will be in Brisbane for a wedding in March next year and we might take a couple of weeks to go up there.
MD, LMAO at PussyFluff, I don't think that would get past the mods. Although I have seen someone with the name titti posting.
W went to bed last night and slept for 3 straight hours before he woke! Not sure what the go is, but he has been sleeping for slightly longer blocks (sometimes 2 or 3 hours) the past couple of weeks. I am wondering if it is connected to leaving him a bit at playcentre - instead of being right next to him all the time I have been moving across the room and watching from further away. Maybe he is feeling more secure?
What would you consider to be walking?
-
Jazmum - I watched the hypnotist on BB too, how funny were the boys 'giving birth'!! I have to wonder though, how is it possible to be hypnotised, are they just acting?
MD - I am a nervous nelly BIG time when it comes to Maddie lol. I often have people telling me to stress less. When I was pregnant I was shocking! I like your idea of the pikelets and fritters, but I think we'll be waiting another couple of months too. LMAO @ pussyfluff!! I always thought that your name is Mary!
Cally - I always wondered if Cally was your name too. Its a pretty name.
-
hi everyone
it's quiet in here today.
arte - i would say walking is balancing without holding on to anything and moving a foot or feet forward. Great that you are getting bigger blocks of sleep - it could have something to do with him feeling a little more secure. Did you mention recently that he is eating more solids lately too?
hayley - re bb - i don't think Dixie was hypnotised. She looked like she was just acting. they did say though that they knew what they were doing, but didn't really have any control over it.
my mummy was just on the radio talking about Palliative Care. I was crying while i was listening to her - i'm such a proud daughter. (and still a sooky la la lol.)
i found a good website yesterday with lots of suggestions for giving solids and when to start certain foods. it's wholesomebabyfood.

Hi everyone,
Re BB last night, DH and I saw Peter Powers live one year and he hypnotised a friend of DH's he said it is real. He said you know what your doing and you think to yourself that its stupid and you wont do it but you cant stop yourself. My uncle has also been hypnotised and said the same thing. I loved the boys modelling last night, I was in fits of giggles.
Jazmum lol at you being a sooky la la, arent all us ladies.
Argh got to go Logan is pulling everything off my desk. BBL

hi everyone
sherie and md - i have just been out and bought probiotics for N and for DH and I - I just got inner health, will see how that goes and then get in liven down the track maybe - DH was a bit of a scpetic so I am happy i got him to agree to give N this! I hope it helps him the poor little thing i dont want him to get more gastro! he seems to be a lot better today, so fingers crossed wehave it under control (esp as DH goes away tomorrow for 12 days!! :-( )
MD and Clare (and Cally if you are here) I would love to meet up - pls tell me what the plan is!!!
Jaz - I have been on thatwebsite too - greatisnt it! how is chloe today? i had worked out your name and was wondering if you should chg it to JaZaHmum LOL!!!
I have been loving finding out the names - Cally I always thought Cally was your (beautiful) real name!! and MD until you tole meotherwise I thought MD was yours as well and that you had one of those American funny names LOL!!!
With the weleda powder, the homeopath i boiught it frpm told me that it sometimes is more effective if you mix it up as it says and massage/rub it into the gums. i do this and it is great - i usually then get him to livk the spoon i have mixed it with too... or chew on it. it has been good for us, esp with more the low level teething pain. i hope it works for all of you.
Hayley WTG WTG WTG on the HD. amazing!\
hi to everyonei have missed - meant to be catching up on someof the work i missed when looking after N on wed so a bit naughty to be on here AGAIN!!
-
hey everyone
feeling a little sainer lately because asha is sleeping better as well as having a snooze in the morning with me after her bottle so i think the teething has settled for now :)
nappies are going well still loving cloth and ashas rash is pretty much under controll now sometimes it still flares up we are still playing with bath washes etc to go on her newly sensitive skin poor possum..
jazmum - yep i was watching bb and i too thought it was hilarious!!!
haley - i think you could see the different levels that they were actually hypnotoised if that makes sence.. like in the giving birth part you could see rory was really trying his best to hold back and not do it but he was still to some degree participating like he didnt want to lol.. some of the housemates werent in it too so i assume they werent easily hypnotised? WTG on the distinction woooohoooo s=what a smarty pants!!
arte - glad w is sleeping a bit longer could be more secere or it also could be that he is more tired after all his playing alone? we did our painting inside eeek lol on a messy mat i got from the junky shop for 2 bucks we had the same problem we didnt paint for long because she was trying to put everything in her mouth as well as crawling in it lol
pregagainpan????? did i miss something there?
md - i went to the gps up the road at the medical centre and they told me nothing was wrong with my ear etc but it s till hurts so i might have to go to my actual dr on the weekend..

Hi everyone
JaZaH- Thanks for the website tip off- LOL about the two different lots of pumpkin recipes - "pumpkins" and "winter squash" AAAH they are all PUMPKINS you idiots!! LOL Plus they DON'T grow in winter! Anyway it looks good and I'm going to have a good read on there before I do my weekly weekend babyfood cookup!
Well, only saw the first 10 mins of the hypnotism - got up to the bit where Alice was going crazy with the sledge hammer LOL. Some ppl are more suggestible than others and they test that before they put you up on stage.
Noni, are you saying your middle name is just "e" by itself?? That's kind of cool, you know. Did it stand for something when they picked it?
Pregpan, I've got to say that MaryDean does actually suit me quite well which is why I love my nickname...fortunately for me though I wasn't born in the American mid-western bible belt! Will let you know any meet up plans as they evolve!
Hayley, re being a nervous nelly, I was reading about the brain changes that occur in a pregnant woman/new mother and the part of the brain that grows and becomes more active is the bit that controls how alert you are. (Prolly why you can't sleep when you're pregnant). This is very useful biologically in protecting our offspring (that's why mothers always jump up to respond to the kids before the fathers do) but unfortunately it can also get out of hand if you're prone to anxiety, it can make you 'hypervigilant' which is where you're too alert for danger (even when there isn't any in the environment). Anyway I find it helps knowing this cos I'm not so hard on myself for being nervous. It does wear off over time too.
Arte, I soo hope W is turning a corner with his sleep. Maybe he's feeling more secure but also it could be that his sleep patterns are maturing a bit too. :crossfingers: that this is the beginning of a gradual big improvement.
-
lol yes md my middle name is just the letter e lol my mum says my parents both had grandmothers with names starting with e from what i understand and they didnt like either name though when i ask my dad about it he says i can thank my mother for that one so i actually dont know where it came from?? maybe thats what they were on when i was concieved lol i was an accident to who knows!!
