Gracie - Yay for Lewis crawling  How exciting!! You'll be surprised at how quickly he builds up speed!
Elisabeth's latest trick, now that she's pulling up and standing, is to stand holding on (to furniture, wall, etc) with one hand, and in the other hand she holds a toy. But she *always* gets too excited with the toy and forgets to keep holding on with the other hand and falls over every time ! LOL This is the point at which BFing really comes into it's own as a comforting tool LOL.
Noni, that's fantastic news about looking in another area. I've got everything crossed for you hun! I"m sure your new home is just a heartbeat or two away! Glad to hear you're enjoying the ergo so much, I still haven't tried the back hold (too many ppl at my house on the weekend all holding the baby LOL) but I'm determined to get the hang of it soon.
Leanne - Keep those poos coming Jordy :cheer:!! I'm in the throes of "party planning" right now for DD's party, lucky for me this year she's happy to have a (very small) slumber party. We might do the bonfire and marshmallow thing for it too. I don't feel the need to overcompensate with an expensive party like I do every year when DH has been away! LOL
Hayley - :goodluck2: Good luck with the exam!!
-
Leanne, yay for Jordy. It is hard to outsmart pre-schoolers! My niece wanted to walk next to her pram when we were in a hurry so I asked if she wanted to have a go in W's pram (DH was carrying him) and it worked! I was quite proud LOL
MD, I was watching a doco thing on people over compensating at kids birthday parties, apparently some people are willing to spend 5-10K on a kids party to ease their guilt about not spending any time with their kids! Bonfire marshmellows are great. Funny about E's trick, I guess she will learn to keep hold soon.
Gracie, yay for Lewis!
Noni, good luck with the house hunting. How is your friends bub?
Seems our list of finger foods have increased to include: dog biscuit, pumice, clay, bark, carpet fluff and something I didn't catch in time lol
Will is now 9kg and 70cm. He is below the 50th percentile now but he is very busy all the time so I am not surprised.
-
md - forgot to say thanks for the tip ages ago on switching the family tax benefit pay to the opposite week of dps pay.. i never knew you could do that but i finally did and we do get a pretty good payment so it helps heaps :)
-
Hi Girls,
Art- lol at W new finger food. OMG 5-10k on a kids party... no way am I that bad we are only having a BBQ lunch in the back yard. MIL bought the invitation, plates, hats, cups and stuff from America so it was super cheap. I have bought Olivia's stuff from Target they are pink and so great I think the whole lot cost me around $50 she is having a pink party but its going to be a BBQ lunch too.
Gracie- Congratulations to Lewis for crawling
Claire- Your dinner sounds like you had a wonderful time. Its great when things sort of get back to normal.
noni- Good luck with the house hunting I am sure you will hit the jackpot this time.
MD- The sleep over sounds like a great idea and bonfire and marshmallows sound wonderful too. Oh I love toasted marshmallows... yummy
-
Hi everyone
It's seems like it's been ages since i was last on, and i've missed you guys!!!
All my chooks are sick with runny noses and coughs, and i think i might be coming down with something too.
I've had a quick skim over the posts, and i just want to extend a warm welcome to [B][/BLil ]Rachee and Chepie. Looking forward to chatting in the future. :)
Leanne - i 'm so glad that Jordie's bowels are moving nicely. He must feel so much better.
sherie - i think i'll have to check out the article you're talking about with regards to Low GI foods. I too have dropped dinner the past couple of days - just gave Hannah breast milk as her nose has been too blocked to eat anything. She was waking once through the night which is great for her. Last night i gave her some chicken and vegies and she was so unsettled through the night. It could have been a number of things, but maybe the food contributed.
Hi to everybody else, am hoping to keep up this week.
Hannah has been standing without holding on - and she thinks she's fantastic. She's also got a new trick - opening the drawers in her room and pulling out her clothes!! (as if i haven't got enough cleaning up to do!) Last night I was sitting on the floor sorting the socks and undies and she dove head first into the washing basket. She thought that was heaps of fun!!
anyway best go and do some more ironing. (i hate ironing )
-
thanks for all your congratulations to lewis :)
gees once they move they really move don't they??? iykwim!!
well satc movie was a little disappointing, i have to say. i liked it but didn't love it iykwim? i don't think it was really anything too special.
tomorrow i'm hading to my friend's place and we have got the mobile dog washer coming over to give our dogs an extreme makeover. i can't wait, my dog smells so bad right now!!
arte- had to have a giggl at w's finger foods. i'm sure lewis has had a few of those foods too! this morning he had a leaf for breakfast lmao
-
Gracie, congrats to Lewis! I second what everyone else has said about how quick they get. I have heard that about the SATC movie too.
Marydean, how did you go finding the purple curtains for H's room? I got the Ezibuy home catalogue the other day and they had some gorgeous sheer purple and silver curtains and I though of you JIC you couldn't find any. If you like I can scan the article and email it to you?
Noni, fingers crossed on the rental front.
Leanne, that's great Jordy's having 'movement at the station' LOL. What have you got organised for a cake? when I brought a tin for Paige's birthday they had either the 3d lightening mcqueen tins or just a normal 2d one.
Arte, Alister would be flat to be 9kg ATM. He was 9.2 a few weeks back, but since he's had the runny nappies these past few days, I think he looks like he's lost a bit. He is heaps longer than Will though, so he is this long and skinny kid LOL.
Jaz, I have a mountain of ironing to do too, but I can only do it when Alister is sleeping or else he sits there trying to grab the cord
Hayley, I know why your nurofen measure is more - you have the child one don't you? The one I had was the infant 3-24mths one. I brought some today for Paige and it was 4ml for 8-10kg bubs.
I must admit I am loving getting all this sleep. We did have a wakeup just before 5am, but he had done a poo (well more of a fart that had follow through - he still has a runny bum) and when I put him back to bed he went right back to sleep and slept till 7.45am!!! So I was able to get the kids ready for school without him underfoot LOL.
Fianne, try not to worry too much about Max and her falls. She really wont do herself much harm, it might be bad at the time and she might have a few bruises, but its all part of their learning what their boundaries and abilities are. Alister has a new bruise every week and I'm sure people think I bash him LOL, but you can't be everywhere to stop them having falls, as much as we would like to be.
-
Sherie - I'm not sure, it says infants on the box? lol. All I know is that it works hehe! Thank you for the GI Info. Is Alister sleeping because you are following the PP guide?
Gracie - CONGRATS!!!!!!! Thats excellent news, go Lewis!
Jazmum - Oh no hope you manage to skip the bug that the kids have. Thats great that Hannah is standing, clever girl.
Leemar - The boys party sounds like heaps of fun but cant say I've ever heard of the car theme you are doing. Is it a kids tv show?
Arte - LMAO at the finger food, oh the joys!
Noni - How did the house hunting go today? MD's tip is a good one re the family tax payment! I must have missed it.
MD - Wow cant believe how fast E is progressing, she will be walking before you know it. Thank you for your GI info.
Clare - How far through your course are you?
Pregpan & Renee come back!
Still no crawling here from Maddie, she seems happy to sit, and lunges forward occasionally. She gets frustrated at toys that are just out of reach so I guess eventually she will discover crawling. Also I can prop her up against furniture and she stays standing there for maybe 5 minutes, so her legs are getting stronger.
I scored an absolute bargain off someone's 'put out your junk on the front lawn' on Sunday arvo. We were driving through a rather affluent area and I noticed that one house had put a baby walker (not one that you sit in but one that the bub pushes along) out the front. So we stopped, much to DP's horror, and I grabbed it. It's in perfect nick and even plays songs and makes random noises. DP was horrifed, what a snob lol. I couldnt care less, they put it out there for someone to take!
-
i am sooooo sick of this weather!! bloody gloomy and rainy all the time.. makes it hard to get nappies dry too grrrrr..
looking at houses today really wanna get something before ashas birthday so i can just have the party in the backyard.. would make it so much easier! plus then if it rains theres the option of going inside...
haley - well done atthe baby walker.. i agree why not take it especially in such good condition.. the house hunting is going alrite thanks for asking.. i am looking at two houses today so fingers crossed we get something soon..
sherie - glad your getting some good sleep :)
gracie - oh i think we need the mobile dog washer to come to our place too this weather (been rainy here) is not at all helpful when you have a white dog!
jazmum - clever h with her standing up asha gets the same when i stand her somewhere would rather hold a toy than hold on and then falls over lol
leanne - do the boys know about their cars party or is it a surprise.. how exciting its cute when kids get to the age where they are excited about their birthday!
-
Hayley, LOL at you taking the walker and your DP being snobby. Thats the reason they put it out there. Friends of ours got boogie boards for their three kids that way the last time they were down in Melbourne. My sisters DP does it all the time in Melb too and he has brought home some great finds - one was a 68cm TV! I guess they traded up to a plasma and just tossed it.
Noni, fingers crossed that the housing fairies are looking down on you today :) IKWYM about drying nappies - when I used terry flats with Lindsay we didn't have a dryer then so it was hard sometimes to get them all dry. When you get your FTB supplement when your tax is done you should buy a dryer if you don't have one - I think most nappies can go into them?
Another good night here. I'm not game to reintroduce a dinner meal because he is sleeping so well and I don't want to jinx that. I didn't go to bed till nearly 1am and it didn't feel so bad to get up at 6.45 to get the big kids ready because I had a solid block of sleep.
-
hi everyone
just a quick hello from me - i am here but really busy with work etc. will pop on soon to do some personals - have had a scan of the posts but not read in depth
we had a fab time at the farm, was lots of fun and good to get away. N has a bit of a cold now, but nothing serious. he has 6 teeth now, and is sleeping a lot better now he is over the tummy bug and these teeth are thru. have been up 2 times most nights and last night just 1 feed at 3.30! loving it! DH got backon mon after 10 nights... the outlaws are arrving today for a few days - not happy at all about that, theirt timing is terrible and they dont seemt o care about the impact on us as a family. all about them!
gotta go, i am at work and have a meeting - back later
-
Hi Girls,
Hayley- Cars is a kids movie thats out. Its fantastic you should get it DH really enjoyed it too. Its all about Lighting McQueen but the boys call him Speed cause he says before a race.... I AM SPEED....
Noni- No its not a suprise they are really excited and keep asking people are you coming to my birthday party... its so cute
Sherie- MIL is making the cake this year but I will tell her about the ready made kcake tins.
Well no poos yesterday... I am devistated.. I hope he has one today...
Pregpan- I am glad that N has gotten over his tummy bug but hope his cold clears up soon. Bummer about the outlaws...
-
oh noni discovered strip washing and now her nappies all smell clean and fresh again!! bloody teething wee grrrr..
oh and my little squirt arrived today yipee got my mums dh to fit it to the toilet for me when he was dropping something off hehe have to say its the first time i am dissapointed she hasnt done a poo yet lmao coz i wanna try it out..
leanne - ohhhh how cute i cant wait till asha gets to that age well i'm torn between being excited and not wanting her to grow up lol
pregpan - woooah 6 teeth lol asha only has two
sherie - ahhh the drier lol its a long story.. but firstly idk if i will get a ftb payment at tax time because i chose to get a ftb payment fortnightly to help us out.. and well the drier you see the thing is we have a drier but my dads crazy girlfriend took away the lint filter because she thinks using the drier is a waste of money and we should just hang our clothes out underneath the cover out the back (where their dog can and will pull the clothes off the line i might add!!) so if we have our own place maybe i should ask for their drier since they dont use it.. though i bet they will when we dont live here damn she is crazy!!
-
Noni - I know what you mean about being sick of the weather, I've given up hanging washing outside this week. It is just extra work to bring it back inside and put it on an airer or through the drier. I want sun!!! Or some real rain, not this dreary weather.
Pregpan - bummer about the outlaws arriving. One nice thing about having mine up the road, at least they don't stay over!
Leanne - fingers crossed for a poo!!
Hayley - sounds like a great find, good on you for grabbing it.
Gracie - woohoo Lewis!!
K is loving pulling out all the folders of DH's uni notes from the bookcase. The doctor wasn't much help yesterday about her ongoing constipation issues. Seemed to think that orange juice would solve everything. I'm not so sure.
DH was late home last night so didn't get to see K. She did not want to go to bed! Really kicked up a fuss. Fingers crossed she is back to her angelic self this evening.
Re daytime sleeps, how consistent are they? ie, if you put bubs down do you know that they are going to sleep for a certain time? We are all over the place at the moment, could be 30 mins, could be 1.5 hours. Very frustrating as I never know whether I am going to get what I want to get done.
-
Oooh Noni, what's strip washing?? Sounds like a domestic goddess trick to me...LOL! I can't believe your dad's gf took the lint filter away, hello, there is a baby in the house...???!! Sounds like she is a bit crazy, good luck with finding your new place! BTW I'm glad you could swap your payment week, it makes all the difference, doesn't it?!
Cally, absolutely no consistency with day sleeps here, there was a patch she went thru where she'd have 1.5 hours and then 45mins -1 hr but there are as many days where it's different, I really can't tell any more! BTW, re constipation, I would try pear juice ahead of OJ as it's much gentler on them.
Leanne, I'm holding my breath to hear whether J has done another poo yet...maybe he's just all pooed out today? You might get a good one later on.
Hayley, woohoo on getting the walker, well done! LOL at DH being a snob about it. BTW, M might get there with the crawling and she might not. Some kids skip it altogether and just start walking instead LOL.
Sherie, good to hear you're having better sleep. Could you just give him a really light dinner, like half the usual amount and a bit of fruit?
Gracie LMAO at extreme doggie makeover. Mine's had his hair done, now he just needs a manicure. LOL
Arte, my DH said petrol over there is now >$2...is that right? Far out you'd want to think carefully before driving anywhere! I can't believe ppl would spend even $1K on a party, let alone $5K or $10K! More money than sense, by the sounds of it.
Well E had a rough night, didn't want to settle after her 11 get up and howled for a couple of hours (!) But then she slept right through until 8 am. So I can't work out if I should still go to QE2 or not. Might have to ring them and have a chat.
-
Hellooooo im here too!
Ive been reading and keeping up but I havent had a chance to post. This thread is like a fast moving freeway, ive just been trying to find the right time to pull in haha!
Hayley - WTG on the bargain...well cant even call it a bargain when it was FREE, awsome!! Rory isnt crawling either, still happy comando crawling.
Pregpan - Soo glad N is over his tummy bug! Yipeeee!!
Cally - Rory drank a whole baby bottle of apply juice and he was pooping all over the joint! I had never seen so much poo in my LIFE! Maybe its worth a go??
Noni - I am addicted to our dryer! Hope you find a place soon and you can take the dryer with you LOL (im sure if you took it she wouldnt notice LOL)
JazMum - Hope your girls are feeling better soon xxxx
Leemar - Im sorry I missed Jordy going into Hospital. Im glad everything went okay. Im praying he keeps his pooping up!
Ive set up my bestfriend (who I became bestfriends with when she dated my brother YEARS ago) with my brother-in-law whoohoo. They are going on a date Fri night, with D and I tagging along to ensure the conversation doesnt dry up haha (My BIL is VERY shy). She has a 2 year old little girl.
Well better run buggalugs is awake!
-
Thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome (especially since I had just admitted to being a lurker!!!).
Motherhood seems to be treating me well so far. I often read your posts and realise how lucky DH and I are. Ally has always been a pretty good feeder and sleeper. We are just entering the wonderful world of solids. The past few days she has developed a love of yoghurt and I have found if she has a good serving of it before bedtime she tends to sleep a bit longer (still have one or two nightfeeds though) which may back up a PP about low and high GI diets. She is has perfected the art of commando crawling and is now starting to pull herself up onto her feet using whatever is nearby. She has two bottom teeth that have cut through but still have some growing to do.... they are sharp little things too! Our only worry is the fact she only has one kidney which has seen her go through lots of tests and scans but so far what she has is working ok so we just have to keep an eye on things. We're starting water orientation classes next week which should be a bit of fun as well.
To all the tired mummies, I hope your bubbas sleep well tonight
Hayley.... it's cool to think that our little girls share a birthday and from what I have read, they seem to be developing at a similar pace.
Gotta dash because I can hear Ally calling out for some attention!
-
hi again everyone
cally - Hannah usually sleeps for an hour every morning, but her afternoon naps range from 30 mins to 1 hour. re the constipation - do you have any Bowen therapists in your area? I found it helped with Hannahs no 2's. Maybe worth a go if you've tried everything else.
hayley - just noticed your name change! How long has it been like that?
md - did you get to sleep in until 8 as well?
renee - hope you're set-up works out. How exciting!!
Lil - Rachee - poor little Ally having to go through tests and scans :( What kind of treatments will she need to have in the future? Hannah still only has her bottom teeth as well. I feel in her mouth every couple of hours. The poor little thing must be sick of me sticking my finger in her mouth.
Well, i've had a horrible afternoon. I had the mobile vet come and have a look at my dog Chloe. He suggested that i put her down. Well, i haven't stopped crying since. He said i can have tests done (to the cost of about $1000) but the prognosis doesn't look good. He doesn't think she'll last until the end of the week. I've made an appointment with the local vet for tonight, so Dh the girls and i will all be heading out. (i can't do it on my own) I just need a second opinion before i end her life.
Sorry everyone - i know this isn't baby related, but i'm really struggling with this decision. I can't imagine walking outside and not seeing her there anymore.
to end my post with a laugh - did you hear about the scarecrow who won a noble prize?
he was outstanding in his field. :cryinglaugh:
