Awww Pregpan, squishy hugs for you hun, It's OK to feel a little sad at not BF anymore. Yep, I am going to say not to worry ;) and I often thought that Lindsay didn't crawl till he did (8mth) because he was such a big baby and simply couldn't bear his weight, whereas the girls and Alister were a lot lighter than he was. BUT, this is really starting to bother you both so I think for peace of mind you should take him to your MCHN or your paed.
Arte, LOL at you still having to get up for the dog. Is it terribly cold over there still? Yay for Will sleeping a bit better now.
Cally, I hope the trip goes well for you today hun.
Marydean, it is always scary when they choke on a bit of food. I haven't given Alister any biccies for ages now, mainly fruit for snacks and he hasn't had a problem with that at all. And I am having a good old chuckle at you forgetting what milk was called. I did that a while ago when I was trying to think of something I needed while in the supermarket and I just got a total mental blank - I can't shop unless I have a list LOL.
hey Ange, how are your feeling now?
Hmmm, G must have had a busy weekend.
I think I might start introducing a night meal for Alister again. Last night we had lamb roast and I gave him just some broccoli, peas and a bit of shank meat to eat while we were eating and he ate the lot (not that it was much, but more than he's had at that time of night for a long time) and he slept through - same with Saturday night - we went out for Chinese and I gave him some fried rice and some cripsy rice noodle and he didn't have a problem with sleep at all then either.

morning... WARNING SELFISH VENT!
asha is really driving me nuts lately!! we moved the cot into our room right up next to my side of the bed in the hope that she would sleep in there and i could sleep in the bed rather than on the lounge!! well from when i put her in there she screamed.. and i mean screamed! the neighbours probably thought we were abusing her! i was half expecting the police to turn up on the door thats how bad it was!! despite all my efforts of patting and shushing and holding her hand she continued to scream for 2 hours straight!!! falling asleep just after 1am (tho she had been sleeping in her bouncer earlier in the loungeroom) and she woke up at 6:30am i bought her to bed but she wanted to get up 15mins later and when i put her back in the cot she started the screaming again untill i got her up.. dont get me wrong i do know realisticly i should be happy with 5 1/2 hours in the cot i mean its the best weve had in ages but i am sooo dragged down by the nights of sleeping on the lounge getting 4-5hours of sleep a night and having her scream grate on my nerves i was just yelling at her telling her to shut up.. i feel so bad about it but i just cant handle the screaming i mean i used to look after a boy with autism who gave up quicker then she does!!
add that to her not drinking any formula yesterday (well 80mls) and i am one stressed mum! she screams when she dosnt get her own way and is so stubborn i just dont know what to do with her sometimes.. shes just a baby doing baby things but i am really stuck for ideas on how to make things easier for both of us.. any ideas??

Noni, purely because of the way it has changed my life for the better, I think you should look up your local Mothercraft/Tresillian/whatever Mother and bub residential stay program. I'd also be seeing the dr today, with refusing feeds and the screaming they need to check that she doesn't have an infection somewhere invisible like ear or bladder. While you are at the dr you can ask for them to do a referral to you for the resi program, if you're having feeding issues then that might help you get in a bit quicker. You are doing a wonderful job being a mummy, but the 5% that needs tweaking (the sleeping!!) is dragging you down. I felt terrible that I had to go to QE2 (like it meant I was some sort of a failure) but once I was there I realised how much I was doing right, and it was just a matter of changing a couple of things and here we are a month later and I can't believe how good it is now. Give it some thought please hun, you've been struggling for a while and it sounds like you're just getting more and more worn down. xxx and !!
-
Thanks ladies for all your advice, maybe we were just getting a bit adventurous with the finger food. Had no problems at all with DD1, guess I'll just keep giving mouthful sized bits and we might "practice" sometimes with bigger food but only when I'm in full nervous nellie poised to strike mode. LOL
Big big ((hugs)) Pregpan on your last bfeed. It sounds like it really crept up on you, but it sounds like it was mutually the right time. I know lots of bubs self-wean around this time and it's because both mums and bubs are getting busier around now. You're allowed to be sad! Re crawling, I agree with Trill, don't be worried but since you are, get it checked (LOL). I know it's a contradiction but peace of mind is important!
Trill, why did you stop giving A bicckies...is it because he's gone past sucking and is now able to get chunks off? Mmmmmm my mouth is watering at the thought of roast lamb and even more at the thought of lamb shanks (my favorite favorite, I can't go past it if it's on the menu at a restaurant)! Maybe I should get a little boneless roast for DD1 and me... LOL at needing a list at the shops (me too). I'm alright if I only need 3 things but any more than that and I forget completely, I just can't hold that info in my head. I often wonder if that's what it's like all the time for ppl who aren't very smart (and then I feel like a total brain snob for even thinking like that LOL)!
Arte, great suggestions for the ball play, we have a bumpy ball too, they are recommended for babies and also chn with developmental delays as they are much easier to hold and also more tactile than a regular ball. Ours is purple!
Hope the drive goes ok Cally!

Oh Noni hun, Maybe she is just affected by her cold too? I second taking her to the Dr just to rule out anything else. Another thing too is even though you've been in your house for a while, it could be be playing a part in her behaviour too ATM. She's gone from being so close to you all the time and often co-sleeping to being in her own room in her own cot and she might just need a little time. So I think you should check out a day stay or Karitane residential program too because you just may need to add a few more tools to your repertoire.
Marydean, I stopped giving him the biccies mainly to see if that was contributing to his poor sleep and wind problems. I also cut out other processed food he was having too except for his cereal. he didn't have a problem with the biccies as such, and he did gag on the occasional large piece he bit off. LOL at you drooling over my lamb shank - I have bags of them in the freezer and I always do one with a roast - its the best bit! Definately get a roast for you and H - E will love it too I'm sure. I always sprinkle garlic salt on my roast when I do it and it is sooooo yummy. Even if I only have three things to get I can guarantee I will forget one of them if I don't have a list! I'm shocking.

Noni :hug:I have also yelled at W once when he wouldn't stop crying. I feel bad about it but it is soooo hard when they won't stop. I agree with the others, you should contact one of the mother support networks - they are there to help you. It does sound like there is something bothering her because that is a really long time to scream. Coupled with not drinking, it seems really suspicious to me.
MD, good to know that those bumpy balls are recommended for babies, I like it when I find out I am doing something right :D He has a blue one and a yellow one (I thought the yellow one was a different size but when I got home I realised they are almost the same lol). I have wondered a few times when I have been really vague this year if that is how less intellectually gifted people have to live all the time too lol (guess I will join the brain snob club )
Pregpan, I think N and Will are complete opposites lol. W is always on the move but hardly eats anything. I made your cheese and tuna pasta thing for lunch and it was a hit, but around here a hit means he ate about a dozen pasta elbows.
Trill, it isn't really that cold here. It was the weekend that it snowed but it has been fine since. I thought we would struggle a bit coming from Brisbane but it hasn't been that bad at all. The worst storms in 10 years blew though here last week but my town wasn't really affected. Mum got a tree through her tack shed and the hay shed roof blew away but her house was o.k. She had power out from 7am until 2am the next day. She made a stew on the fireplace and then they went to bed at 7pm because there was nothing else to do lol.
Are the other bubs seriously eating 2 cups of solids per meal? Last night W ate heaps more than usual (he loves my naan bread and curry) and it only added up to about 1/2 a cup. I think in an average day he would eat 1 cup, maybe 1.5 at a stretch. He is soo active, he has lost all his chub and is quite slim now.
-
Alister doesn't eat quite a full 2 cups - he has a 170gm jar of stewed fruit (I've been refilling the empty jars I had) mixed with around 1 cup of cereal/porridge for breakfast. For lunch he will either have the same, or mixed green vege or a vegemite sandwich and fruit pieces. I have brought those really big jars in the Only Organic range - they are 250gm - for when we go out and he will eat one of those. But he only has the two solid meals per day, so if that was spaced out over 3 meals it would be a lot less. The girls were only small eaters too - I would be lucky to get them to eat half a cup of food. They didn't start eating more till they were a lot older and even now they are only small eaters really. Lindsay was a big eater too - still is. Will would be getting more than enough nutrients from your BM as well. For all the food he does eat, Alister is by no means a big kid - tall yes, but skinny as LOL.

thanks everyone for the kind words and the advice.. if ashas sleep does not improve soon now that i have moved her cot into our room i will be seeking some kind of help from a program or something to get her sleeping and save dp n my sanity!!
i think i forgot to tell u all we won a kiddy car! u know one of those ones that they push along with their feet? its a bit big for her but i put it together today and made a seatbelt so that she stays in the one spot.. she really likes it its cute! it has a little kinda like handle at the top too so u can push it along.. gonna go for a walk down the street with her in it soon just to get out..
arte - no asha eats alot but i dont think its two cups per meal.. for example yesterday she ate two weet bix, a cheese stick, a fruit cup, a heinze custard tin and for dinner she had rice pudding that i made (maybe half a cup)..
md and sherie - we took her to the dr a few days ago and everything was fine.. its really hard for me to get to our dr because hes so faraway from here by public transport :(
-
Noni, you might want to suss out your local GPs and starting taking Asha there, I've always taken my girls to the easiest closest GP (bearing in mind who will bulk bill for children and how easy it is to get in and see someone there, usually we will see any doctor who's available) and then I go further to see my GP who's usually a lady doctor that I feel comfy talking to about lady doctor topics LOL!
Yay for winning a kiddie car! Well done. It's been a while since I entered any competitions but maybe I should.
Re the eating, I measured a while back and E has probably about a cup of main meal (cereal in the morning) plus a few finger foodies and half a tupperware snack cup of custard/yoghurt/fruit for dessert. But she doesn't have as much boobies as some of our babies here (and not as much as DD1 did either) so I guess it all balances out.
Trill, my mouth is watering even more know I heard about your freezer full of lamb shanks. Maybe we should drive up to visit you and you can do us all a lamb dinner?! LOL
-
md - yeah all the gps around here arent very good.. ive only seen a few of them so far but they were shocking... i am really bad with trusting drs coz ive had some shockers and i have a really good relationship with my gp because i used to look after his kids.. i know its not practical but i just cant bring myself to switch.
we didnt actually enter the competition dps mums friends entered for us without us even knowing lol we just got a msg from dps mum saying call the chemist youve won something lol.. asha loves it i pushed her round the block in it today.. its much better now ive put a seatbelt on haha...

Art-Bummer on your mums place.
MD- How is Miss E sleeping?
Clare- Hope the tonsils are getting better.
Well we are all good here. I had a wonderful day today at home with the kids. They boys played outside all day and Livvi had a great day playing inside. I actually got all the washing done. As for sleeps Liv still has 2 a day. 1 at around 9am and the other around 2 pm.
Hello to all DH just made Chocolate pudding so I am going to have some.
Sweet Dreams

Whoa food wise, M probably only eats half a cup at each meal and will not eat any more . She shakes her head and covers her mouth. I'm sure I'm not under feeding her as she is the chubbiest thing out lol. Down to 3 180ml bottles a day too. Also has little snacks here and there. It will be interesting to see if her appetite increases now due to crawling...
YES big news here today, M is crawling! My girl is well and truly off. I was so shocked today when I put her on the carpet, nakie from the waist down, and she literally crawled across the room. I bawled my eyes out LOL, then quickly whipped out the video camera. DP is SO proud, as am I.
Noni - I agree with seeking help from a sleep school, its so hard to function on not much sleep. You do sound like you are starting to get worn out with it all now. As for the feeding, if it isnt an infection/illness of some sort that is putting her off her milk, maybe its just that she is getting older? M is dropping feeds and halving the amount of milk that she takes all over the joint. Bit scary I must admit when they arent on their normal little routine. Btw did you go to the doctor it does sound suss screaming for that long?
Pregpan - Well done for making it this far with the BFing, you have done so well and should be very proud of yourself. As for crawling, M only started today at just over 10 months. I am sure N is fine but dont hesitate to ask your CHN, they probably hear it all the time and have some little tips to encourage him. I found M moves better when on the carpet and with bare legs. Clothing & tiles make her slip. It is very disheartening when people ask about whether your child is crawling yet and oh my gosh are you kidding little johnny was up and away at 7 months lol I so hear you on that one.
Leemar - Love how you call her Liv/Livvie, so pretty. M is the same with the day time sleeps and much the same with timing too.
MD - Sorry to hear about the choking incident, especially after you had started to get your confidence up with finger foods. :( As for feeling like a failure for going to sleep school, no way dont even think like that, look at all the tips you got and how much of an improvement in sleep there has been. You totally did the right thing.
Trillian - Good luck with reintroducing A's dinners, sounds like he is ready now. Did he enjoy his chinese take away? Maddie loves eating out at restaurants, she gets heaps of attention and lots of finger food hehe. I am really getting into cooking red meat, you must be so proud of me lol.
Hello to everyone else, I must run!
-
Hi girls!
Sorry that i have been incommunicado the last couple of days. this tonsilitis is draining my energy stores...not to mention my 'pin cushion' bottom from all the daily pen jabs! LOL! sexy beast that i am....;)
Noni: something just doesnt sound right with A ATM. book in to see your MACH nurse and just take heaps of time to sit down and go through with her what may be causing the sleep probs. I would def take the chance to go to a resi program. they cover all sorts of things, feeding, sleeping etc. and they also give you a chance to get some rest. I know for a fact that you can get your MACH nurse to pull a few strings so you dont have to wait months...(ah the joys of being a visitor to the BB centre...privvy to all sorts of info!! LOL!). big  to you guys, it's been a pretty tough couple of months for you.
MM: Congrats to M!!! how exciting! aren't they just so proud of themselves when they crawl??
Leanne: ahhh wish i could get some washing done. but i am totally uninspired....not helped by the fact that our only washing machine was bought in Fiji and is a twin-tub. wish i had a fancy automatic one with the bells and whistles, especially for the nappies!
Pregpan:  that must have been quite a moment for you. i hope that you feel ok about it. Leila is also starting to cut right down. i find that i have to encourage her to get on during the day otherwise she just wouldn't ask. i am one for silver linings and i must say that part of me is slightly envious of your chance to wear sexy bras again! i look at mine collecting cobwebs in the drawer and tell them: 'one day my pretties' LOL!
Arte: hhmm can't say that i know for sure how much L eats...loads...but i don't know what 'loads' equates to lol! i doubt that it would be as much as 2 cups though...
MD: ohhh the choking is a bit scary. i am always on the ready especially as Leila is a chipmunk and shoves everything in her gob and then scans the room for more...banana is her fav for the kind of stuff. she sits there with it oozing outta her mouth and yet grabbing for the other half...gross. also caught her stealing pasta off my plate at lunch today. had finished hers (unbeknownst to me...greedy guts!) and was swiping penne off my plate!
Sherie: i join MD on the drool front. sent DH 'hunting' the other day and even the halal butcher down the road had run out!!! WTF??!! it's winter people! we need lamb shanks!!
Cally: hope the drive went well! we have done that one a few times...ahhh the memories!
anyway best dash as my footsies are cold. no heating out here in the hall. need wireless.
sending lots and lots of sleep-well and long vibes to the bubs and parents tonight (no toothfairy here...just the sleep fairy...i like her better ATM!)
-
Clare, LOL at you sending your DH hunting for shanks. You can always tell when there's been a cold snap here by what the butcher has left - always out of shanks and bacon bones (for pea and ham soup - must be a pensioner staple LMAO) Do you think that the jabs are working though? I would hate for you to go through it all for nothing.
H, YAY for Miss M crawling!!!! She is going to be into everything now LOL. Yes, he did seem to enjoy his chinese LOL. It was only the rice, and probably only about a tablespoon altogether. He had some apple last night just before his last milk feed for the night and we had a few wakeups - nothing huge, so now I'm not sure about it. I will hold off giving him anything tonight and see how he goes.
Hi Leanne, sounds like a gorgeous day you had. The weather has been unusually cold up there lately. How is Jordy going atm?
Noni, the car sounds fab - you'll have to post a pic of Asha in it.
Marydean, you are more than welcome to come and have shanks with me :)
Alister did the cutest thing last night. He was following me around everywhere, just whinging because he was tired and I was getting the clothes in off the line, getting dinner organised, helping the older kids with homework and stuff and I wasn't able to sit and get him to sleep because I didnt have time, and after a while he'd stopped following me and I thought he'd just gotten over it and gone off to play somewhere. After a while though I realised I hadn't seen him for a bit and asked the kids if they'd seen him and they said no, and I thought oh crap, he's somewhere he shouldn't be so I went looking for him and found him in my bedroom on the floor beside my side of the bed, asleep snuggled up to my nightie that he'd pulled off the bed! Poor little boy, I felt so guilty then LOL, but he looked so cute curled up hanging onto my nightie. I picked him up and put him into bed and he slept for another 30mins.
-
OMG ive actually slept!!!
yesterday i altered Ashas routine and didnt let her sleep in the late afternoon instead putting her to sleep around 2 and then keeping her up (she usually goes to sleep around 4 which i know is a problem but very hard to break!!) she was pretty wingy around 4 so we had a bath together and she forgot all about it gosh by the time dp got home at 6 she was walking around holding the lounge and then putting her head down on it she was so tired lol but i was determined to stretch it as long as i could! i ended up giving her a bottle at 8which she fell asleep drinking and i let her sleep on the lounge till i knew she was really asleep moving her to the cot around 9.. well she woke up at 1am so 4 hours in the cot not too bad for her.. i brought her into bed with us (the cot is right next to the bed so minimal effort is needed for this now) and she slept until 7:30!!!! there were a few times she got a bit restless or lost her dummy and wanted it back but that was it.. no screaming, no crying, not even any winging!!! ohhhh pleease tell me weve turned the corner on this!!!
cassius - i dont know what a twin tub is (oh the shame lol) but i do have a brand new all the bells and whistles washing machine and after the first week i am no more motivated to wash then i was before when our washing machine didnt wash properly and i was rewashing over and over lol..
MM - oh :confetti: CONGRATULATIONS M :confetti:
sherie - ohhh how cute!! littole A curled up on ur nightie hehe only have pics on my phone so far will take some pics of her in it when i charge my camera battery lol been meaning to do it for aaaages!!
-
hi everyone
sorry went MIA again my crazy life continues and i was in melb yesterday for work, am now sick with a horible cough and have loads of work on so i better be quick
thanks for the reassurances re crawling - i am worried about it and i know i shouldnt be.. anyway have asked fdc lady to give him a lot more mat time as she cuddles him all day long... and i will take him to the MCHN in the 1st instance. i just want him to do it already! both dh and i were slow on that front but it is hard when every other baby older and younger is on the move!!!wrt food, i doubt he eats 2 cups at a time but he does eat a lot!!! all day long!!! he also has 4 bottles a day (sometimes 5 if he has a feed in the night as well). i am still sad about the end of bf but it is also ok. lol clare at the sexy bras - lets just say the BBs are not the same as they used to be.. i am going to give it a few weeks and then go out and get me some new ones! (bras that is not BBs!!).
The good news is that he has slept through pretty much for the last 3 nights... well sometimes with one settle (last night a rock at about 9.30 and the night before a bottle at 11.30) but through to 6.30ish all 3 nights... i hope he is turning a corner on that front! g-d knows DH and I need the sleep!
Leeanne sounds like such a gorgeous day you had
Sherie - yummo on the lamb shanks. and that is the cutest story about A!
Noni - yay on the sleep last night, i hope this is a new rhythm for miss A. do you have a night routine before bed? maybe that will help her?
MM - CONGRATS on Maddies crawling - i know you must be REALLY happy!!!!
-
Thanks for all the best wishes about the car trip - it went really well. She had a big sleep in until just after 8 (DH was worried he wasn't going to see her before he left for work) so we didn't have a morning sleep before swimming. I gave her some fruit after swimming and then she crashed in the car about 5 minutes from the pool and slept for 1.25 hours - and then the rest of the trip she was very relaxed and not at all whingy. So that was good. Only a one nap day (our first ever) and she's not ready for that yet - very whingy by bed time last night.
Pregpan - well done for feeding N for this long, especially with your trips away and everything. Top effort! And great news on the sleeping too.
MM - Yay for the crawling!!
Arte - we're not having 2 cups of food per meal. 1 weetbix plus some fruit for breakfast, one slice of bread plus fruit for lunch (won't eat the crusts) and then dinner is casserole, vegies and yogurt (maybe 1.5 cups all up).
Noni - glad that last night went better. Has she been having more milk today?
Trillian - oh, how cute, asleep on the floor on your nightie. Hope you got a pic.
My little niece is still gorgeous - but so boring compared to K! That 6 months makes such a difference. I let mum's cat sleep on my bed last night, however was woken at 3 by him trying to cough up a furball. Not pleasant.
Hope you're all having a good day. We're about to hit the shops after K wakes up.
