hi everyone! MD glad E is doing better - and that they have worked out what it was and can treat it for you. is her temp down now?
Clare and Sherie - thanks for the rips re the brauers - so so i just use it while he is unwell??? i thought i would sue it to boost his immune system - he doesnt seem to mind it actually...
i must say he has been great with the conjunct - you would not kow he had anything wrong excpet when his eyes get gloopy...
his days sleeping is getting so much better - he is having his 2nd now for today and both of them i gave a quick cuddle and put him in the cot and off he went tosleep... i dont know what has chgd but i am loving it.
have friends coming for brunch tomorrow - not sure what to make... i was going to do a fetta and spinach omlette but then i remembered she is preg... so may not eat fetta??? ia m doing coconut bread and bircher muesli but need a savoury aspect too... hmmmm not sure.. aah the dilemmas LOL!
Clare and Ange - hope the teeth come through soon... N got 6 so quickly and now no new ones for ages... though he has been drooling a lot the last few days...
Clare I have wireless and it is bigpond... but work pays so i am sure it isnt the best deal LOL
DH will be home in an hour... YAY!!!
-
Pregpan, fetta should be ok provided it is cooked through and HOT. It's the cold things that are the listeria worry.
Ange, TBH I don't often use the nurofen but the dr recommended team-tagging it with panadol and because I wanted her to have better coverage overnight I alternated between them. Plus if it's a UTI we all know how bl**dy painful they are. It seemed to work in the end because she had a good sleep after 1 am.
Remind me again, ladies, what's the best way of getting acidophilus/bifidus/caseii into bubbies??
PS, Clare we've got a wireless router ready to go (so we can run several pcs/lappies at once via my regular ISP) but you can just get this plug in wireless modem thingy that serves down all your wireless. My sis has one (through "3") and she pays about $50 a month and loves it.

Well i guess he'd know MD! ;) i am just a little wary of ibuprofen, as i get nasty gastritis if i don't have food with it. Glad it worked and she got a good sleep.
Jalna, Vaalia, hmmm and some other yoghurt mentioned a while back have live cultures in them. I have a friend who works for innerhealth plus and they have been giving their 10month old innerhealth plus for kids since he was 6 months. (Says on the bottle from 2 i think, but they just give 1/4 of the dose) That would be another way, although a little more expensive.
I give Lu Jalna yoghurt a couple of times a day.
MD- When Lu had a UTI, the chinese Dr i see recommended making a soup with celery and barley in it. Whatever else you like but they were the key ingredients. I put other vegies and a lamb shank in. Apparently the barley, or even just the broth it is cooked in, is great for UTI's. Might be an old wives tale but worth a try. ;)
-
Thanks Ange, as soon as I read the word "barley" I had a jolt of recognition, must be something I've heard along the way somewhere too. What a good idea! Thanks !

I think my boy is getting sick :( We went to netball this morning for Erin, and then when we came home Alister felt quite warm and I just thought it was because I left him in his snowsuit for the trip home and he refused to eat lunch which is unusual for him and then he jsut got really sleepy - still hot too - and I gave him a bottle and he slept for 2hrs. he is still really hot and flushed. I'm hoping it isn't anything major as he seems happy enough in himself, just hot. I have given him some apple juice in his cup and he hooked into that, so I guess being hot has made him extra thirsty. I will keep and eye on him and see how he goes after a bath.
Pregpan, You could use it for that too. I just stopped mainly because he wouldn't have a bar of it LOL and I couldn't be bothered fighting him over it.

Trillian - how is A today? hope the elimination diet clears up your psoriasis soon.
MD - do you take Lysine tablets when you get a coldsore? I had an absolute whopper a month ago and took a few of them and it healed up so much faster. Glad that E didn't get it, hope her UTI is getting better.
Glad that all the bubs are sleeping better (except Lewis - hope that sorts itself out soon Rainy). We've had a few 5:30 wake ups where she then has a feed and goes back to sleep for a while. Wondering what we'll do if she still does that when she's weaned? Do I just take a drink of milk in to her?
Supa - haven't started watching the new McLeods yet, it's all been recorded though so will keep an eye out for you.
Had a good week up in Canberra - although very hard to coordinate going out with a 5 month and 11 month old!!
DD can take steps without hanging on!! Although she only seems to do it for DH, he's seen her do it lots but I have only once. So that is very exciting!
-
Cally, glad to hear you had a good time, i bet there were lots of moments when one baby was ready to go and the other needed attending to! LOL
Hope it was just one of those things and A bounces back today, Trill.
Just wanted to pop on and ask Rainy, is it snowing there? How exciting! Hope you're all snug and warm next to the fire.
-
Cally, Yay for walking!! That is really cool
Trill, hope you get better soon, sounds like you have had a big run of problems lately. Forgot to say the other day that A must have been adorable curled up in your nightie, hope you got some pics.
Clare, you don't need to get wireless internet, you can get a wireless router that plugs into the internet hole in the wall, then you can get your comp to connect to it. You get way better internet deals if you use fixed line rather than wireless.
Not much going on here, a terrible night from W, not sure why but I am really tired now.
-
Clare- We have internet set up as Arte says. Satellite connects to a PC then we have a wireless router and i use my laptop on our own home wireless network.
Cally- Steps! How exciting, Lu stands on her own a bit, but no steps as yet.
Arte- We had a bit of a shocker last night too, i can't wait for these teeth to come through.
Trillian- How's the little man?
We've had a snowy morning here MD, it is freezing. It was pretty watching the snow fall though. Made me pine for the mountains, i havn't been skiing in a few seasons, always seem to be UTD! Next year for sure.
Still in PJ's watching the Olympics, at least there is good day time TV for a change!
-
it snowed here too ange!!
lewis loved it, he kept crawling up to the windows and staring out at it falling. gorgeous!
md- yes we have the fire roaring. it's actually 22 degrees in here! gotta love the fire. i think they were filming just up the road from here for the news so i'll have to watch.
i walked up to the shop in the snow (quicker than driving) and there were lots of cars going past with families and kids and cameras heading up to olinda to see the snow...
ahhh, seems like a perfect day for fish n chips for dinner. has anyone noticed how much i talk about food lately? it's all i think about, that and sleep.
when i'm lying awake at night with lewis, the thing that keeps me going is you girls all telling me it will pass soon...and that soon he will turn a corner....
sherie- big hugs to you. you're in the wars you poor love, hope things get better soon. how's A doing?
cally- wooo hooo on steps, gorgeous girl!
-
Hi everyone!
G, you can keep your snow hun - its blooming cold enough here today without that too. How cute that L was completely taken by it though.
Cally, OMG at K taking steps! She will be walking all the time before you know it.
Marydean, how is E today? Have you heard from DH lately?
Ange, I have been watching the olympics too, but on SBS because they have all the uncool sports like badminton LOL. Plus they show the entire coverage of an event and not just the highlights.
Arte, I hope you can get an early night hun and catch up on some sleep.
Alister is fine!? After I last posted he had another sleep, then I raced around and did a quick tidy up of the house while to older 3 weren't here - FIL had come and picked them up and took them to their house as SIL and her MIL (well sort of - she's living defacto so she may as well be her MIL) were over for the night as they had a golf tournament today in town and we were going to have dinner over there last night. So he had a reasonable sleep while I tidied and then when he woke I gave him some panadol and a bottle and put him in the tub as he was still really hot and once the panadol started working he was fine - still is. We had a few wakeups but I think that was because he go out from under the blankets and got cold. Today he is fine but still off his food a little. He only ate brekkie and a few spoons of lunch. So fingers crossed that's all it was and he is OK now.
AFM, skin is looking really good - I can see a big improvement already which is great. I'm thinking though that it wasn't so much food that triggered it, but the abs I was on because it was only since taking them that it really flared up. The only thing that I was eating a lot of that I have to exclude was the chocolate ;) and dare espresso's LOL. So when I go back on the 21st I'm hoping that I don't have to exclude so much food - not that I don't mind, but its just a hassle when cooking for 5 other people too.
-
glad to hear A is doing fine sherie :)
i'm going to see a new mchn tomorrow morning. i'm hoping she's better than the other one!
i haven't had L weighed or measured since 4 months so it will be interesting to see how big he his. i'm really hoping she can give me some good advice on weaning, sleeping, the lot!!! lol
also thinking about booking L in to see a baby physio this week to see if that can help with sleeping issues!
it's soooo cold here. i think the dog is depressed!
-
Sherie, I hope A's appetite improves and he's all better. E's still off her food and apparently off boobie tonight which is a bit of a worry!
Thanks for asking, I get to speak to DH most days which is nice but also a bit tricky depending on when he can ring. However the convos aren't often very deep as there is always someone else in the room at the same time at his end. He's having a really hard time because he's missing E so much, he feels really bad that he's missing 3 mths where she will grow and change so much. They have a bit of a chat to each other on the speaker phone every few days but TBH I think that just makes it harder for him.
Rainy, good luck, i hope the MCHN is worth her weight in gold! I haven't weighed E since we left QE2 either, feeling bad about it because her weight bottomed out and I really should follow up on it. Oh that fire sounds sooooo nice. My lecky blanket stopped working the other night and i was in full panic mode (how will I get thru the night in my vast cold empty bed LOL??) but then it was just the plug had come out a bit. Sorry the doggy is depressed. My Bosty loves the cold weather cos he's such an excellent lap warmer and his services are in demand. LOL Plus he gets to wear his very smart little coat ;).
Ange oh I am jealous of your snow! We'd been promised a freezing day with sleet and possibly snow but it was a complete lie. It was colder and wetter yesterday!! I turned out ok tho cos we made it out to the markets today (ethiopian for lunch, YUM) but stayed home in the warm all day yesterday.
-
Hello everyone! What are we chatting about today? Is anyones bub walking yet? DD holds onto the furniture and walks if she has a good reason to, but that's all so far :P Are our bubs all eating family foods now?
-
hey everyone :)
well big news here Asha slept through the whole night IN HER COT!!!!! i kept checking her because i thought something was wrong with her lol hoping this is a sign of things to come!! we actually introduced a pillow to her cot a few days ago because she is always laying on ours when we co sleep she makes her way up to the pillows and it seems shes much more comfy now.. i figured since her cot is litterally touching our bed it would be a good time to try using one...
mmmm what else i just gave asha a little corner of my peanut butter toast so will be watching her closely! is it true they usually have a reaction the second time they have it tho? so i will need to give it to her again to know?
we went to a fancy dress party on the sat.. have pics on my facebook of the 3 of us if your interested :)
ummmm what else lol i havnt been on in a few days so there must be more to chat about haha...
lol theres always that dps been saying for a few weeks hed like to have another baby and when i turned around and said ok i think id like to have another one now too he told me hed changed his mind!!! golly gosh menplay such head games!
apart from that everything is going well.. still waiting for asha to take some steps on her own, dont think its too far off now. that and i am trying to plan her party which is getting closer and closer and ive done well not much lol...
babysocks - theres a few bubs walking in the thread.. Asha is around the same stage your discribing she waslks along the furnature and sometimes can let go and stand alone but thats about it.. family foods.. Asha eats just about anything, she dosnt always have the same thing as we do for dinner tho just because she eats so much earlier than we do just depends.. shes still eating a fair bit of baby foods tho like the custards and she eats alot of puree fruit (i give her the goulburn valley ones)
md - hows e going is she back on her food and boobie now?
rain - hope the mchn is really good!!
sherie - glad A is fine :) hope the specialist lets you have chocolate again too!!
ange - i used to go skiining when i was younger now uve made me wanna go hahaha bit hard with an almost 11mth old lol! how pretty watching the snow falling.. its so cold here though i am glad its not snowing!
arte - hopee W has a nice long day sleep so u can have a nap!!
-
Hi babysocks, how is everything going with you and A? I have a walker, he is almost running now but gets the speed wobbles lol. He eats family meals with us all the time now, I sometimes give him a few extra finger foods but mostly he just has what we are having.
Rainy, I really hope the new MCHN has some good advice for you. Last night W slept from 8pm-8am with only wake ups at 10.30pm and 6am. If someone had told me that 3 weeks ago I would not have beleived it. I couldn't see an end to the 6ish wake ups every night and now they are the exception rather than the norm. I really hope Lewis starts sleeping better for you. One thing I have thought of that may or may not be helping is that for the past few weeks we have been giving him Weleda teething powder every night. Before I was only giving it to him when I thought he was teething. I missed a night a couple of nights ago and he woke up every hour again. Not sure if it is coincidence or not. The other thing I wanted to tell you is that we aren't alone. I was talking to some girls at W's music group and they have/had the exact same problem. They also fed to sleep and then ended up with the hourly wake ups. It is very common but no one talks about it.
MD, good to hear you still get to talk to DH even if it is with someone in the room. Our ex neighbour that came from South Africa was here for 2 months before his wife and daughter and missed her first birthday and first steps etc and was very upset about it. He had tears streaming down his face talking about them one day. I didn't know what to do lol
Trill, bummer about having to skip chocolate! Hope A is all better. Must be nice to have a bit of almost kid free time.
Pregpan, I saw in another thread there has been a bit of progress on the crawling front?
No snow here now, the past few days have been clear and lovely. We went for a picnic yesterday. It is still quite chilly but the sun is trying to shine. I feel spring coming. I am starting to regret teaching W about the jacket, now he keeps grabbing it and giving it to me so he can go outside and I feel like a massive meany when we don't go out.
W is adorable, he keeps standing in front of the toybox/washing basket and frantically throwing stuff over his shoulders until he finds something that catches his eye - it is like a cartoon lol
I forgot to tell you the other day, a lady from W's music group had a baby in the car last week lol. Her contractions started 1 minute apart and by the time they were 10 minutes down the road the baby was coming out!
-
good morning everyone
sherie glad that A is ok and also that your skin is getting better... i was telling DH some of Aand your other kid's antics last night, he was loving it - i was telling him how with each bubba we will get more relaxed etc etc and how much i learn from you and your attitude.
MD that must be hard for DH to miss out and to really feel it, these 3 months a lot happens too hey... how long has hebeen gone for now (1 month?) how does DD1 handle it all?
Rainy - soooo cute L crawling over to look at the snow. did you let him touch it at all?
Ange I am loving the olympics!
Babysocks - hi!!! There are a few babies in here walking, lots at the stage of your DD and all except N are crawling!!!! wrt foods - my N ets pretty mich everything now, just depends on textures but he tries it all... he does not eat the sae as us each day but thats more bc of timing than anything else - ie on weekend he does have the same bfast and lunch usually...
afm nothing too exciting really - have been in a bit of a mood all weekend, think the juggling is getting to me and the stress... so need a holiday... not long to go now! N is ok, the conjunc flared up again but seems to be under control and he had a bad night last night, i think maybe he is getting more teeth (tho i cant see anything). off to melbs tomorrow until sun - DH is looking after N wed-fri... (geez i cant wait for all his fam to tell me what a hero he is for that - sorry see themood i am in)
better go, heaps of work today
bbl
ETA Noni and Arte we were posting at same time. WOO HOO to both of you regarding the sleeps!!! Arte - yep we are making progress - he is moving arounda lot kind of rolling and wiggling along the floor - still a long way off though!!
-
MD - I know what you mean about changes in 3 months. That's how long my parents are away for and she wasn't even crawling when they left and she's almost walking now!
K fell over this morning and knocked her teeth. Blood all over her top and a fair bit on me too. Her gum was bleeding between her top front teeth. They don't look chipped or anything so I suppose I just leave it and see how she goes. I don't think there is anything a dentist or doctor could do. She fell asleep fine for her nap.
Arte - wow, W is really getting better at his sleep isn't he? That was a quick labour - the car wouldn't have even warmed up!
Baby socks - DD is eating most of the family foods, it's really just if we have something spicy or nutty that she doesn't eat it.
Pregpan - we gave your salmon balls another go yesterday and she loved them this time.
Noni - that is great that A slept in her cot all night.
Rainy - good luck at you MCHN appt today. Hope she has some good ideas.
Trill - glad that A is better and your skin as well.
