What do you girls think of the 'young ones maxi climber' in the target catalogue on page 25? Do you think this is maybe a bit too young for M at the age they are now? I dont know, I wonder if she would lose interest with it? Maybe I am better off buying a nice big little tikes slide etc?
H, I reckon it would be fine. The Little Tykes stuff is great, but sooo expensive. It is all quite good quality now, whereas a few years ago anything that wasn't little tykes was just terrible. All my kids love to play on that stuff, cept Lindsay is usually too big for it LOL.
Paige never really spoke properly. Up until 2.5yrs she still only had a few words and we just thought she was a bit slow to start talking and Erin would always talk for her :rolleyes: When she started preschool at 3.5 we did think that she had a problem, and asked her teacher to keep an eye on it and see what she thought, and she did say she thought it was just age related stuff and she would be fine, but it was about this time last year actually that her teacher said one day was I still intersted in having her assessed, as one of the assistants made a comment that she was having a hard time understanding Paige, and we just went from there. I filled in a questionaire and Jenny signed off on it and sent her referral in and she was seeing Margaret a few months later. She did say a while back that Alister was doing fine, but he's had a bit of a language explosion since then.
G hadn't been on FB for over a day as of this morning, so I hope that everything is OK.
I just googled it quickly, if it's the thing I saw then it would be fine, it'd keep Missy E busy for megahours - she played on one of these non-stop when we were doing kindergym last term. Has the advantage of providing the climbing fun without any big falls, kwim?
H: the pram can be found at carbon de. there is an element of sexy to it, but then again i am a bug owner and i dare say i cant switch sides now LOL!
Thanks girls, I am very impressed with the price, I have been looking for something similar for a few months now & got disheartened by the huge prices of them. This one is definately manageable. I often wonder how parents afford to buy all the little tikes etc outdoor toys, the prices are ridiculous! Even second hand on ebay they make big money. You are right, M would love this especially in Summer.
I am worried about Rainy!!!!! I worried as soon as she wrote that her friend had come into contact with J & she had swine flu. I am a paranoid person I am the first to admit lol.
Trill - Have you noticed an improvement with P's language? Is the reason why she was a bit unclear due to E often talking for her?

Ok, everyone don't be paranoid about Rainy, she texted me to say all is well - and that means NO flu - but she's been busy with BIL visiting (duh, she did tell us)! :D

H, Margaret said that she didn't think Erin talking for her all the time was a big issue, but she does have tounge tie which certainly isn't helping. And yep, her speech has improved out of sight compared to what it was. We are really pleased with it.

I braved Big W at 8am Thursday morning, along with everyone else. I expected it but didn't expect a mate over at kmart to tell me that they are empty as over there. Put the $200 trampoline on layby and then ducked over to kmart and put their $250 one on layby there as well. I can't decide between the two, i've got a thread in the general chatter I think labelled trampolines. Got a while to go so will eventually cancel one once I make my mind up hehe
I was pretty disappointed by the catalogues this year but i think its got a lot to do with the fact that sarah has nearly everything anyway so nothing left to buy hehe. Shes not into dora, barbie or anything else at the moment so no need to buy specific. The tramp will be a gift from MIL to Sarah, so am thinking a swing set and slide perhaps. But then again, DH and I are thinking cubby house. I like the wooden ones and DH searched a found this one that we like...Cubbie : Perth : Sydney : Melbourne : Brisbane : Adelaide : Canberra : Darwin : Hobart ...but the price is a bit OTT. So getting a chippy mate to have a look and a quote. I found a gorgeous one in the target catalogue for $700 which looks cute also Target Australia - Toysale
I'm also loving the wooden kitchens (esp Target Australia - Toysale) ...sooo cute. Might ask family to chip in for kitchen as a bulk pressie and we'll get the cubby as a joint bday/xmas pressie. Shes got so much in the way of little stuff that we are bursting at the seams.

Kate - The pretend kitchens are so cute, I could see them really get into something like that at this age. Cubby houses are so expensive, but they are so much fun for kids.
Clare - that is a freaky looking pram - but no basket underneath!!! Where would you put all the random stuff that tends to accumulate in the bottom of the pram?
Sales - will probably have a look at KMart tomorrow but nothing jumped at me when I looked through the catalogue.
Trill - hope the man flu isn't too bad

I'm using DH's spare laptop and the stupid shift key is too small and I keep hitting the up arrow instead and typing things all over the page. Although it is nice to be tucked
up in bed with a cup of tea and catching up with all you girls!!
We have started using a naughty spot for K. So far it has been for dancing on the coffee table after being told no 3 times and for slapping me in the face. Tonight, she was sitting on DH's lap and put her hands up to his face like she was going to slap him (she does a two handed one on both cheeks). He said noooo, she laughed, pointed at the naughty spot and then slapped him - like she wanted to go and sit there. We made her sit there, but not really sure if the idea of the naughty spot is working!! Might have to do some more research on that!!
Will have to check out the Target catalogue now.
ETA - stupid screen is too small, will have a look tomorrow on the proper computer.
Kate the cubby at Target is really cute but check it out because I suspect it might not have a floor...? I reckon if you've got a chippy mate that might be the best solution. That kitchen is gorgeous and ideally the one we'd love to have but a bit beyond our budget right now so we will settle for the Barbie model (sans refrigerator) but it has an oven and a cupboard which should be big enough to fit all the food/pans etc in.
I don't think I mentioned my big $5 spend...bought a Thomas the TE car thing, where you pull it back and let it go and off it chugs forwards. Missy E is *fascinated* because it goes by itself. She's pretty interested in trains at the moment for some reason. Makes choo choo noises and all.
Cally, good luck with the naughty mat - she will get the idea soon enough, especially when you're all doing something fun and she has to sit there by herself.
Adelaide meetup was great - pleasant evening and hardly any one in the cafe so I didn't have to be paranoid about germs. Met some lovely ladies, and was reminded of how many different personalities & opinions there are on BB (!)
So which members did you meet? Alister is mad keen on the trains too - thankfully we have tonnes of wooden thomas stuff already so there is more than enough to go round. Lindsay has one little train that is a friction driven one and he loves it too, but it's wearing out. He loves the little 'nee nonk' train (ninky nonk) but cracks it cause it wont fit on the wooden thomas track LOL.
Got some bargains on kids clothes at Target too today for Alister. Just some winter stuff that was cheap enough to justify buying new stuff for him at this time of year kwim? - like under $10 for woollen jumpers and cord trousers! I finally found trousers that aren't miles too big in the waist for him too.
Although today proved to DH that cc will never work with Alister as left him with DH today to take Lindsay to auskick cause the weather is just crap today and he cried from the moment I closed the door at 9am to just before I got home at 12, where he cried himself to sleep at the back door. So nearly 3hrs of constant crying finally proved to DH what I was saying all along that it will never work. He has been at me to just leave him to cry to solve the bedtime issue and I kept saying 1 it wont work for that reason and 2 I have 3 other kids who do NOT need to be kept awake at night. But DH is soooo crook today that he just wasn't well enough to try to settle him. I am actually quite worried about DH - he is even going to take this shift off work (supposed to start dayshift tomorrow) and if he says that then he is REALLY sick. He even said that if he got any more dehydrated he needs to get to hospital and thats saying a lot - DH loathes hospitals. And Erin's croup wont lift and has gotten worse and I was out of redipred. So I was scouring the house at 2am hoping that I had a repeat script somewhere and thankfully I did - and luckily it hadn't expired yet. She has improved a fair bit since having it too - all I had before that was ventolin but that wasn't cutting it.

AFM: well pretty rough day. organising trips to visit my opa and am trying to see if the local catholic church where he lives can do a sort of prayer service thingy for him as a way to say goodbye to his brother. i vaguely remember doing this as a child in the past...not sure though...

Oh Trill!!! What a hectic household you have atm! I really hope your DH gets well soon, so horrible when they are sick, apart from the 'i'm dying' attitude you really notice it when you are running the house on your own. & of course you dont like seeing the man you love sick! Anyway ranting on now but I hope things pick up soon.
MD - So glad you got out & had a nice evening with good company. Did many turn up? Well done on the bargain toy! We are a bit tight on funds to spend at chrissy/bday as well so I think we will just stick to a couple outdoor toys & small things on the side iykwim.
Clare - House hunting today or so over it?
Just dropped M off with nanny & poppy (in laws) for a sleepover, as its my sisters 21st tonight & even though I wont be drinking, we thought it would be safer for her not to be there, with the bonfire & young drunk guys. Apart from that a whole bunch of us are going in a limo ride around the city prior to the party & I had no one to watch M. Anyway when I dropped her off, I got in the car & just bawled all the way home. I am normally 100% fine with her having sleepovers with the grandparents but I just had this whole overwhelming feeling of she could be my only child & she is so precious to me. How silly is that!? I couldnt shake that feeling, so I will be happy to see her tomorrow morning.
We looked into private health insurance last night....its SO expensive! & on top of that we would still have to pay the medicare surcharge levy which DH estimated his alone on etax last night to be $1400.00. How on earth do people afford private health!!??
H, I can understand that :hug: I know that she WONT be an only child forever. Enjoy the limo ride tonight though! As for PHI, we can't afford it. We do have it because DH's work pays for it as part of their salary package but once he stops working there we will go back to not having it cause i would cost us $7k per year to buy the equivalent cover (top level hospital and extras) and we can't afford it, especially since we aren't sickly type people kwim? Well apart from atm anyway LOL. I make sure I claim everything I can on it. The downside of it though is that it is a fringe benefit so we pay fringe benefits tax for it and it affects our FTB too.
