PAP - glad that it is all going well, hope that nipple crack clears up soon. I can so imagine what you mean about N being such a boy now, not a little baby. Looking forward to hearing how it goes next Sunday and finding out the name!
Ange - glad you had a good holiday, how were the girls on the flights?
Noni - how is DH going? Hopefully those ab's have kicked in and he is on the mend.
MD - no tips for the insomnia. Hope you get some rest soon.
Trill - hope you're feeling better.
Clare - how did the auction go?
Rainy - how are all the boys going? Three cases of man flu???
MM - you were asking how K was with childcare, she was so excited to see us on Friday when we picked her up, came racing up to us with her bag. Apparently they had been talking about holidays and she was getting very excited. Very cute watching her give the carers a cuddle before she left though. This was an 11week term (normally only 10 weeks) and that final week was a real struggle though. She wasn't really herself with the bad cough she had last weekend so she was really ready for a couple of weeks home.
Well we've had a lovely weekend here. The best bit is that I don't have to go to work all this week so we can just keep on having fun!! Don't have anything special planned. Lots of walks down to the swings (which she was loving a couple of weeks ago, now she is desperate to get in, but doesn't want to be pushed at all!), playing in the backyard, making Duplo creations and having cups of tea.
Even got her to have a sleep today. Yesterday she crashed in the car on the way back from town, today I put her down and read Winnie the Pooh. She screamed and thrashed for 20 minutes, then just crashed and started snoring. Not a fan of the screaming, but at least she had some sleep and I got some time to myself while she did it. We're going to try not to stress out about it this week, if she doesn't sleep we will just get her up and continue playing.
Oh and we put Lamington (pony harness- thanks Kate for the name suggestion) on K today and she was quite into it. We've been talking to Lamington but today was the first time we got around to doing it - I assumed she would freak because she hates putting her jacket on and it is kind of like that, but she just did it straight away. So we will keep with that and hope that she is right soon to go out with it.
-
 gold.
I'm up for pedi and bubbles anytime. :D
-
that's so funny that it's called Lamington cally! that's the pony i used to ride when i was little LOL
everyone here has cabin fever BAD!!! it took me an hour to get lewis to sleep tonight cos he hasn't done anything for so long.
what can i do tomorrow girls to keep two sick boys entertained??
there's only so much 'shaun the sheep' dvds we can take....

Hey everyone! Feeling much much better today finally. I think my kidneys were so achey because Saturday is the day I take the MTX and it puts a really heavy burden on your kidneys as it's qutie toxic and I just wasn't drinking enough water, so I got a bit dehydrated cause of the cold and also the MTX and they paid for it. All is good now though. MD, last af I had was really heavy, but not the doozy it was the previous month. I only had to wear a pad for a day and a half and then it was OK. I can deal with the heaviness of it, so long as there is no pain, so it's all good.
Am putting Alisters cot back into our room today as I am making a last ditch effort to get him going to sleep in it again. The problem only started when he learn how to climb out of it, and all he wants is to be with me, so I will put it back in there, and then put him to bed and pretend I am going to bed too and we will see how we go. Dh starts nightshift tonight so I will have the next 4 nights to work on it on my own and hopefully it works.

Hi girls!
Congrats again PP! this is soo exciting!! can't wait for the birth details...bit like MM here...cluck cluck clucky!!!! LOL! and mwahhhh, our september 07 bubbies are growing up sooo fast now!
Sherie: glad you are feeling a bit better. but it does sound like it has been a really rough trot lately. hopefully you can do something nice and gentle for yourself in the coming days. gosh knows you deserve it babe!
Rainy: we had similar issues cause of the crapulent weather. in the end i just rugged Leila up like a snowman and let her loose in the playground. boogers and all. she needed to burn energy. we took the dog as well and just threw the ball. the fresh air can still really tire them and is my saviour. otherwise, i would recommend a stroll to a cafe for a round of bubba-cinos....
Ange: ooooh your holiday sounds lovely! how was Mana??!!! we never went there, always wanted to check it out though.
was the village you went to the one further down the beach (near the tibukula cottages)? we have found them to be really friendly from there too (if it's the place i'm thinking of). we used to stay at the dodgy cottages (and sneak into the hotel for pizza ) and the guys from the village were always getting DH and our mates to play footy on the beach....oh they were the days....
Cally: sounds like you guys are having a great time! so nice, to just chillax around the house...
Leanne: your boys sound so cute! i had to giggle...
MD: you better give me a buzz when you come! i wanna go dayspa too!!!!!!!
AFM: well, not much to report. had a nice weekend. almost passed out at the auction due to the 'spectacle' that it became. it was gale force winds, branches and debris flying around...very apocalyptic. in the space of 3 minutes i went from 600k-670k. pulled out and the bidding stopped about 5 minutes later at..............780. the house was advertised at 560-610. which IMO was a reasonable range considering the property market. this was madness. DH and I have been down in the dumps a bit to be honest.
-
oh clare it is so hard when properties skyrocket like that - i can see why it would be getting you guys down.. do you think maybe you should take a little break from it all? as much as it is great when you get your place it is also so tiring and consuming looking, deciding, bidding, being heartbroken etc etc so maybe a few weeks or a month or so off from it all would help?
sherie - i hope the cot in the room works for you. it sounds like you have had a rough trot lately and i am sure a's sleep or lack thereof isnt helping... i am sure you will sort it in a few nights. lol that it will be easier on your own!
Leanne - the party sounds like so much fun. are you off to the usa soon? sory i keep losing track of time.
Cally - any fun plans for the holidays with K? I hope you enjoy your baby free trip here!
MD - you poor thing with the lack of sleep. i am sure i am up at the same time as you LOL!!! i hope the naturopath can help with something au naturel... i know that a lot of yoga breathing can help too, it helped me with preg insomnia.. more visualisation & breathing than actual yoga moves. maybe google it? i can try to describe what to do if you think it may help?
Rainy - i hear you it gets like that when the weather is bad... i have a couple of standby's - a great indoor playcentre is the main one...
MM - how are you feeling?
afm all is well... baby is going great.. i am hanging out for the nurse to come weigh him, just interested to know if he has gained back to birth weight yet... no real reason just helps to see progress iykwim. feeding still good - and the attachment seems to be getting better. we are all adjusting, it is so calm here when N is at creche and SO hectic when he isnt. my mum has been in town since he was born whcih has been good but to be honest i kinda want us to just do things on our own. she has been working so it has been ok 'space' wise but i think DH and I are more the kind to just want to get stuck into it ourselves. that said she has been fab at entertaining N and i know she was a real life saver when i was in hosp. prob more my hormones than anything else.
that reminds me.. wanted tro vent and ask opinions. my mum is amazingly helpful to us.. able to do the full routine of 24 hrs with N - bed, bath etc etc. it means she does a lot of the day to day stuff with him for us and gives us the time out (ie the weekend away, helping when i was in hospital etc) as well as enjoying him. she babysits for us heaps when she is here etc. DH parents do none of that - they just do the fun stuff - playing, outings etc. i feel like N is starting to think mum is 'in' on the baby stuff - ie has let him down and maybe starting ti favour DH parents. which seems so unfair... do any of you face this? should i stop asking mum to help so much (she adores bathing him and babysitting him and giving us a break) or will it pass?
-
i did exactly what you suggested clare and took the boys to the park.jimmy just slept in the pram while lewis ran around with snot pouring everywhere. now he's having a nap. jimmy seems pretty sick today, i've made a dr's appointment for him tomorrow morning. we'll see how he is in the morning.
pap-i'm a bit confused about what you mean about your mum. do you mean that N thinks that your mum is taking him away from you so that you can be with baby J? and he doesn't like it?
sherie- do you feel like it's musical beds at your place LOL, i'malways asking dh to move something from here to there to back again. it does his head in! atm we just have the cot in my room but i'm thinking of putting thebig boy bed in there to shift lewis into soon. just too scared to ask dh as that's where it was originally LOL
eta- now i'm getting really excited about this day spa day ladies
-
Clare- It was Coro Levu (Sp?) Right next to the Warwick..... i think that is where you mean. How long were you living there? The house thing would be getting me down too. Maybe PAP's right. A break from it all might be good for you guys. And you know what? I bet as soon as you stop looking something will show up. I hope so anyway.
PAP- If it was me in your situation i'd still be getting mum to help. I think in the long run you will find N and your mum have a very special and strong bond having spent so much time together. i think backing off the contact would leave you without a helper and perhaps negatively impact their realatioship. I am guessing it might just be a phase, and he'll be back to loving everyone equally soon! If it's really worrying you, you could trial just letting your mum do the fun bits, but she sounds so competent and helpful i'd be reluctant to do that. I need all the help i can get.
Rainy- how'd you find the snug a bug. They don't really wrap do they? nice and warm though. hmmmmmmm day spa.
Trill- Go easy on those kidneys! glad you're feeling better. Good luck with tthe cot moving. Whats the plan if that doesn't work?
-
ange- yeah i find the arms are a bit too loose so he sort of just ends up with the pants on LOL
when everyone is better we have you catch up, i have a little present for you :)
i want to go to the day spa at balgownie
-
Ange, there is no plan B LOL, so this has gotta work! he hasn't had a sleep today because he wanted to be on my lap and I said no, he layed down on his little couch or that was it, no nursing to sleep. But I bet he will crash about 6pm  always the bloody way!
G, I hope J starts to improve soon, it's no good having a little baby sick like that  It's not so much musical beds here cause I just wait till he goes to sleep on his couch and put him to bed, and lately it's not often he's been waking to come to bed with us, but it's just PITA issue of him not having a regular bedtime kwim? And we've had the walrus tusks happening here too LOL. So gross.
PP, he was soooo tiny! I wouldn't know what to do with a baby that small hehe. If he is anything like his big brother he will get big soon enough ;) And it is amazing the first time you see your firstborn after having another baby and it's like they have grown twice their size overnight. I remember when DH brought Lindsay in to visit Erin and I for the first time and it was like take this big child away and bring me back my baby boy! and OMG he felt so heavy when I picked him up ROFL! As for your Mum, well DH's mum is a bit like that, I can trust her 100% to do the normal day to day stuff when we need to, but my mum is purely for fun and junk food. I cannot trust her with them for longer than a few hours, so they have come to see her as the one who always brings a treat over for them etc or will buy them toys just for the sake of it. BUT I think as much as they love that, and love her for it, they have a better quality relationship with the IL's and it's a stronger kind of love kwim? It's hard to explain it fully, but it doesn't matter that they don't do the fun stuff. I don't mind it though as they are the ones who will take the kids if anything was to happen to us.
Clare, so sorry about the house hun  maybe we should pray for the rates to rise and the govt to can the homeowners grant to try to make it easier for you ;) So what is your plan of attack now?
-
Rainy, glad you were able to get out to the park. Sucks when you are stuck at home and have run out of entertainment. I tend to crack out the playdough with a couple of pots when I hit rock bottom of ideas.
Trill, good to hear the health is on the mend at your place. How is your DH's man-flu? Good luck with the sleeping. I am going to sleep in my own bed tonight for the first time in months. It is getting too uncomfortable sharing with Mr bedhog and I am getting hardly any sleep. And he needs to get used to sleeping by himself before baby comes anyway.
Ange, glad you had a great holiday, sounds like lots of fun. Any problems travelling with the girls?
Clare, the house situation seems very grim. Are there many listings around for offers/tender rather than auction? Once people get into the auction atmosphere they seem to lose all sense of reason and go way too high, makes it so hard to get anything at a reasonable price.
PAP, yay that everything is going well. I wouldn't worry about N favouring your IL's, as the others have said ultimately he will have a better relationship with your mum because she is more of a caregiver than just quick fun.
MD, bummer about the insomnia. I have had problems with it for many years - in fact I credit living on only a couple of hours of sleep per night for months at a time for being able to cope when W was waking hourly. It really is the pits though, I hope that you can find a natural alternative. Have you tried the Rescue Remedy range? There might be something in there.
IL visit went really well, W wasn't stand-off-ish at all, was asking them to do all sorts of things for him. He even went on a train ride at the park with them and had fun - didn't even care that DH and I weren't with him. I was very impressed with how comfortable he was around them, and he has been much better with other strangers lately as well as other children at playgroup etc.
Had a midwife appointment today, baby is still 4-5ths engaged. Can feel a bit of pressure down low and if I crouch to put on W's shoes it feels like something might fall out lol
-
Arte - good luck with your sleeping in your own bed plan!! Sounds like you have hit the tired enough to be properly cranky part of the pg? Anyway I hope you are already tucked up snug in your bed :).
PP - I just think you should try to go with the flow for a couple weeks and accept your mum's help as much as she offers it. They really are quite changeable at this age (with regards to which person is flavour of the day) so if you've noticed him favoring someone it's only going to be a short term preference rather than him actually favoring them permanently, kwim? I'm sure he will ride out these first few weeks and then having a little brother will be part of the new normal, and grandmas and grandpas won't have changed at all.
Trill, glad you are feeling better - i kwym about the dehydration - it has crept up on me a few times too. Good luck with your cot-moving-going-to-bed blitz! Hopefully you'll have a run of good nights that will set the new pattern.
Cally i cracked right up when I read about Lamington being the pony's name...gotta love those food-based pony names! Enjoy those hols!
Well my big baby girl had a little rite of passage today...DD1 got her ears pierced (*sob*). Actually it was lovely, her friend had a sleep over and they've been plotting for ages to get them done together, so we took them up today. Ah she was so brave and went first! Feeling super clucky at the moment, DD2 has been so cuddly with me lately, really wants lots of mummy-time. Doesn't help that we're in the middle of a little Sept-thread baby boom!
-
had a really bad night here last night with jimmy, he's gotten really sick and just can't sleep. he was awake for hours and hours crying. my poor little monkey. i just cuddled him and cuddled him, there was nothing else i could do.i finally got him asleep about 6.30am- just in time for lewis to wake up. i'm soooooo sleep deprived, it's ridiculous. taking my jimmy to the dr at 11am, i really hope they can do something for him.
md- wish you were close so you could come over and snuggle jimmy to help you with your cluckiness!
arte- not long to go now for you, you must be getting so excited!
-
Rainy, I feel sooo bad for you and Jimmy. It must be awful seeing such a little fellow so miserable. Hope the Dr can give him something to help and that the boys co-operate to let you have an afternoon nap.
MD, sounds like H has some really good friends since you moved. How is school going for her?
Trill, how did your night go? Hope you had some success.
Not much luck here. W woke around 12pm and came crying down the hallway so I put him back to bed but he was up again about 20 minutes later so I ended up staying in bed with him. He woke and grizzled a bit just about every hour. On the up side though, I told him that I was going to be in the lounge at bed time and when he said 'mum hold my hand' I told him that dad could hold his hand and he accepted it and went to bed without me in the room. Then when he woke up a bit later and came out he said 'have a cuddle with dad' so I handed him over - first time ever that DH has resettled him. So I guess we are progressing a bit.
-
Arte - that's great that DH was able to resettle W and that he was happy to hold his hand to go to sleep. Fingers crossed he can sleep without you tonight. Also good news that he is happier around strangers. Have you progressed any further on what to do for the birth? Has the GD popped back up?
Trill - how did your night go?
Rainy - did the doctor give you anything for Jimmy? Have you got a vapouriser, that makes such a difference in our house when DD is sick. LOL that you had a Lamington!!
PP - just let your mum do whatever she can to help. I wouldn't hold back on what she does with Lewis, it just means that he will have a different relationship with her than he does with DH's parents, not necessarily a better one. I have a similar thing in that because my parents are so far away they end up spending more time with DD because when we do see them it is so full on (bed times, bath, getting up, meals etc). Whereas DH's parents have short bursts of her because they are so close.
Clare - OMG, that is a ridiculous price difference, no wonder you and DH are feeling a bit down.
-
hey everyone just jumping on to let u know im still here and still pregnant *sigh* lol.. 37wks 2 days now! baby is very low and has slowed down alot have been having a few niggles but nothing that promising yet.. -
oooh noni it will all happen soon - YAY!
Sherie - how did last night go?
Arte - wow that is fab progress with W and your DH. I meant to sat that about the day out they had which sounded like a real success and so much for for them both (and for you!). This will help you soooo much when your little one arrives.. I hope it continues.
MD - wow how cool on the piercing! it sounds like H is a lot happier there.
Rainy - what did the dr say about jimmy?
we have had a good day so far today - spent a few hrs this morning just enjoying my little one.. then we headed into the city for coffee/shopping and lunch. so amazing he will sleep in the pram.. oh he is ready for a feed (feeding every 2 hrs atm) so i will bbl.
-
hi girls
i've just got back from spending the day at hospital. poor little thing has got bronchilitis. looks like i won't be getting much sleep for the next few nights either.
dr said just to put the vaporiser on and not much else we can do
arte- good progress on dh settling w. you may find as well that your dh is better with the newborn than he was with w, just out of necessity iykwim? dh was forced to spend so much more time with jimmy in the early days than what he ever did with lewis, so now he's actually quite good at settling him and can rock him to sleep in the rocking chair. jimmy gazes up at him, smiles and goes to sleep.
