hi girls
happy birthday to the gorgeous little cutiepatootie hannah!!!
trill- ikwym about A being a nightmare at little aths. lewis always seems to 'loiter' in inappropriate places when i take him places LOL i'm so thrilled about you starting uni, you'll be great and if you need any help there's plenty of smarties in here to give you tips (me not included in the smarties category)! LOL
arte- newborns eat, poo, burp, sleep and cry....that's about it LOL and in jimmy's case, they look like hairy little animals with big eyes!
clare- those ****tails sound great! ease the toothy pain LOL
operation pony is not going too well....dh is more stubborn than a friggen mule about these things. sometimes he shiats me so bad!!!!
i think he feels bad though cos he just bought me some beautiful aesop shampoo, conditioner and handwash. he's just a tightA about living things as he doesn't like the 'ongoing maintenance costs'- his words, not mine...GRRRRR:wall::wall:
hope everyone's having a great sunday. jimmy has been waing constantly the last 3 nights. can't work out if it's associated with solids or teeth so i've decided to give him no solids today and see if it makes a difference.

hi girls!
GUESS WHAT?!!! i baked a cake and it came out P.E.R.F.E.C.T!!!! i know i know a cake, whoody woo but for me this is miraculous! it is the practice cake but now i am considering freezing it for the Big Event.
Arte: now you mention it the onesie i had picked up was a NZ merino....so nice..but oh the price.
Sherie: so i guess that with all the wandering mr A will be a cross country man LOL!
G: hmmm operation pony is harder than i thought...maybe get your friends to do the hard sell and get them to list weekly costs. that way you guys can get some idea.
AFM: well after all my baking exploits (even made patty cakes with icing and all!) i am tired so off for an arvo nap...
-
what kinda cake did you make clare? recipes please!!!!!
-
yeah - i never knew you were meant to do a practice cake... geez better get onto that ( another friend also gave me a piece of practice cake a few days ago!). any recipe ideas... i think N would like a choc cake maybe instead of butter cake... not sure...
What food are people doing for party? and do you do sep stuff for adults? ours will be morning so not sure what to make.... (i am thinking 11-12.30 possibly)
Having a nice weekend here.. had a party yest which was fun.. N LOVES parties!!! the people had a chicken coop with 6 chooks and now N is nagging us for chickens... i wish we could have them... then in the afternoon DH took N furniture shopping - so annying we need stuff for N's room but it has a 10 wk wait time. and of course we want it NOW! LOL. This morning i took N to the market for supplies and a bubacino and then some friends popped over. the ladies and bubs stayed for coffee here and dads took all kids over 18 months (so 4 of them) to the steam train near us. fun. then we had a play date with all of them here. dh is at war memorial playing with N on the helicopter now... so he has had a ball this weekend. all of us are battling sore throats so J and I have layed a bit low - and will do so this weekend.
-
Ginger - he did it! W had a floor nap! I can't believe it. Congrats on J's teeth, hope his sleep improves now.
Clare, well done on the cake. My friend once made a cake and was so excited about how perfect it was she picked it up and showed everyone yelling 'it's perfect!' and promptly dropped it on the floor lol
Pap, sounds like N is having a busy day, hope he has a decent sleep tonight! How is his sleeping going? Bummer on having to wait for the furniture. I bought a carpet shampoo machine, it was supposed to be here Tuesday but now I am told it won't arrive for another couple of weeks. I am seriously bummed about it.
Trill, I wish there was little athletics around here.
I have a toothache. It hurts. Is it o.k to get a filling now? I wanted to do it months ago but the stupid dentist wouldn't just put a filling in, they had to do a 10 minute assessment first and I couldn't get DH to drive 20 mins from work to watch W for 10 minutes while they did it. Hopefully if it is an emergency they will just do it all at once without the stupid little assessment appointment.

OMG I'm having a total breakdown. Just took DH up to the shops to collect our laybys for Missy E's birthday (not to mention all the stuff I'd put away for all the zillions of nephews and nieces for xmas) and the ****ERS HAVE CANCELLED THEM!!!! OMG no letter, no phone call, stuff cancelled, all returned to stock, no more of anything! I'm so upset I stood in shop and cried in front of everyone. OK so they were overdue (I didn't even realise - chemo brain I guess) and now I have to start from scratch and I doubt they will even have the stuff I wanted in the shops anymore since the sales are all done.
Trying to remind myself to breathe and be calm, it will be ok, Missy E won't know the difference, but farkadark I'm not really up to trawling around the shops for hours at this stage (being the reason I went out and layby'd it all before my chemo started in the first place).
second birthday-related crisis...just found out they are releasing Wotwots toys this weeks - meaning I"m back to wondering if we should have a wotwot party (since there are 2 of them) and leave the ITNG for next year (cos there are three of IP, UD and MP). Pretty easy to do a wot wot theme - just think pink with blue dots and blue with pink dots and lots of zoo animals as well. What do you guys think???
BTW Pregpan - I do a combo of party foods that will appeal to all ages - sometimes the kids really like the grown up things like heated savories and dips and the adults like the kids stuff like ****tail frankfurts, patty cakes and fairy bread. LOL so I just set it all out and serve the kids first and then the adults graze (well in my DH's case that means eating everything in sight hence why we feed the kids first LOL).
BTW I'm sooooo not doing a practice cake, for crying out loud. I have also only just now caught onto the whole 1 year old cake-smash phenomenon (being an opp for photos)...does anyone else besides me think that's weird or did you all do it and I just didn't twig at the time????
-
MD, that completely sucks about the laybys! I can't believe they didn't contact you before they cancelled it all! Were they planning to return the money you had already paid? What is the one year old cake smash thing? I haven't heard of it, but I am usually out of the loop lol
-
Basically you give your 1 year old a birthday cake to themselves then take photos of them while they smash it up (as invariably they do). Apparently *very trendy* right now. Some ppl are even doing it for their wedding (???WTF??)
BTW Been meaning to ask you Arte, have you seen True Blood or Being Human?
-
md- that totally sux about the laybys. they should've at least called or sent a letter. what store was it? i wanna know so i can boycott.
haven't you already got all the ITNG stuff? i think you should stick with ITNG cos she might not be into it next year iykwim?
i'm not into the cake smash thing. i think it's just really messy looking.
-
There is no way that I would be able to do a cake smash then, too messy and such a waste!
No, haven't seen True Blood, haven't even heard of Being Human. We don't tend to watch T.V much (just downloaded series), so never see the promos for anything. Again I am out of the loop...
How is firefly going?

Firefly was fantastic, enjoyed it heaps!! Watched Serenity straightaway too. DH had seen Serenity but never realised there was an entire series that went before it LOL. I might have to organise and audiovisual care package for you. Haven't forgotten my Beauty & the Geek promise either...
Ginger - don't know if i should say. Don't really want to burden you with a boycott ;). I will be sending a strongly worded letter and I'll be sure to include the word cancer just so they feel guilty like they should!!!
ETA - Leanne - aww enjoy the day tomorrow . Im already feeling sad adn we've got 2 weeks to go until my baby turns 2! LOL But we are all so lucky, I just can't believe how fast the time has gone.

Hi everyone
I've just done a skim - crazily busy weekend - but i started to cry when i read your posts wishing my littlest chook a happy birthday. I so wish we all lived closer so we could have regular catch ups :(
anyway - obviously tired and emotional - so i'm going to take myself off to bed. Hope to catch up with you all tomorrow. :)
-
OH NO MD!!!!!! that's is just beyond awful for you. Target have changed their policy like that too and wont send a letter out at all. Definitely go with a Wot Wot's theme (we love them here LOL) you wil have to get her the DVD, it's great. I posted in your other thread too and peedeetoys have an awesome turn around time - it only takes 3 days from the time I place the order to when I get it here - and we only get mail 3 days a week!
Happy Birthday Livvy!!!!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day sweetie pie!
LOL Jaz at you getting emotional - that's what usually happens to me too *sigh* I get thinking about the day they were born and the first time you held them and it's not long before the throat is all choked up....

Hi girls!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!!!!!!! may this year bring you a whole world of new happiness and adventure!
MD: i cannot believe it! THAT IS SO WRONG! that has to be a consumer affairs issue...ACCC anyone???
we did a practice cake only and purely cause i am soooo crapulent at baking that i need the practice. last year it kinda exploded in the middle and i had to make do as it was the morning of the Big Event. this year i was not going to risk the stress. that said i have now FROZEN the practice cake as it is so perfect that it is now the REAL cake LOL!
..i have never heard of cake smashing. no doubt that will just happen as par for the course knowing my daughter LOL.
Jaz: i so wish we were all within reach of eachother too! this is like the BEST MG!
Arte: YOU NEED TO GET TRUEBLOOD...and BEING HUMAN. awesome awesome awesome (x 1 million).
PP: we do combos. so fairy bread and dips. Leila loves fruit so will have fruit platters which have appeal for all ages. thinking of doing cheerios (little franks), some celery and philly sticks, a lolly bowl, chip bowl...some meringues....and mini pizzas to soak up some of the sugar. going to avoid the soft drink (maybe some ginger ale) and go for fresh juices (and beer and wine for adults...).
Arte: not sure about the filling. i would say considering how close you are to popping that they would advise to wait. but i know that that will be like waiting an eternity...toothaches are yuk yuk yuk. i keep clenching my sore tooth ATM.
AFM: well i have a sore throat. so not nice. also feeling really emotional that my baby is going to be 2 on wednesday. tomorrow it will 2 years since my waters broke and i realised that she was going to make an earlier than expected arrival...mwaahhhhh! might have to go through her memory book tomorrow to really pull at the heartstrings lol. also need to do some serious wrapping. hope i have enough paper.
