Joasia - some sneezing & congestion in the early weeks is normal - but if they have a temp or you are worried for any other reason see the dr - most drs would rather you take them in & if nothings wrong then good. A lot of drs even bulk bill for a brand new baby (but it won't last for ever)!!
I BFed DD1 - without batting an eyelid - for 18 months here there and everywhere - but this time round I find I'm suddenly SHY again about doing it in public...WTF? I think it's because we're still at the awkward stage where she doesn't always attach first go so there's a lot more nipple exposure going on. Mind you, I figure if ppl don't like it, they can look away - and if they do like it - well good for them! LOL
Re the weak tea - I drink Madura premium tea - it has less caffeine than Liptons Bushells Dilmah etc - you can brew up a nice strong cup without worrying about the caffeine factor as much.

Hi everybody
Marydean - I tried Hannah with the dummy, and she made such a funny face, and kept spitting it out. She even held onto it and just played with it with her tongue for a while. (i think i was secretly happy that she didn't like it lol) I'm glad your ob appointment went well and your wound is healing nicely.
Pregpan - well done on getting out and about by yourself. I think once you take that first step it gets easier every time. Good news that your nipple is back to normal.
Sherie - well done on getting everything done. That half hour car trip must prove to be a challenge some days. Do you have to drive the children to school everyday? I love the picture of Alister in your ticker. what a little cutie pie!!
Joasia- Hannah has had a snuffly nose for a couple of weeks - no runny mucous or anything, but just sounds blocked. i bought some Fess nasal spray and a 'snot sucker' and it seems to have done the trick. (got all of those snotties out that couldn't be reached) When i'm feeding in public, i tuck a muslin wrap into my bra strap and drape it over my shoulder. It covers up all of my exposed bits, and is still light enough so that Hannah can be comfortable.
We had a good night last night. I fed Hannah at 7:30 and then i was in bed by 10:30. She didn't wake for a feed until 3:30am, which was wonderful (although i thought i'd woken up in Pamela Anderson's body- my breasts were so hard and sore)
my Dh is going to melbourne for the night, so it will be interesting to see how i juggle everything this evening. wish me luck!!!

Hello! Didn't have such a good night last night - not so much Alister, but me. I just had a shocking sleep so I felt rather ordinary this morning. He woke at 6am so I had plenty of time to get him fed and Lindsay ready for school. Dh came home from work sick again with this cold/flu bug again *sigh* so I'm really hoping that the kids don't get it or god forbid Alister.
Jaz, I don't drive him to school, just to the front gate and he gets the bus. Every wednesday though I pick both he and Erin up (preschool) as that's the day I go to town and do shopping etc. It can be hard sometimes, especially with a crying bub LOL.
Marydean, at least you know why she was so unsettled now LOL.
cally, I'm sure they have built in radar's too - it's either when food is served or when you're in the mood for love ;)
Joasia, Alister gets snuffly too, but he is otherwise well. It's hard to know sometimes though.

hi all
Noah has also had the snuffles... i havent seen any snot though so i guess it is a bit of congestion... it is hard not to worry as i notice every little thing... i guess that will get easier with time?
I agree Cally re the radar, i think noah hears the kettle, knows i am having a cuppa and wakes up LOL!

Joasia- I think I was over reacting I spoke to the Clinic Nurse and she told me its normal. I now feel normal as everyone elses baby has the same as Olivia.
Olivia has put on weight 2 weeks ago she was 4340grams now she is 4712 grams, she is 55cm long. I am so happy. I had a lovley day with my mum today so I am planing to do the house work in the morning then just relax in silence tomorrow. Ahhhhh
MD- The boys go to daycare Thursdays and Fridays ( only could afford 2 days as it would cost me $440.00 per week for a whole week for 2) and then will be going back to my mums on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I have decided to only go back to work 4 days a week which will start in a couple more weeks.
-
DD also gets a bit sniffly. She put on 80g in 3 days so that is really good. Midwives are finally finished with me and have passed us on to the community heaslth nurse.
I had a dream that DH came and told me it was time for a feed last night so I got up and sat on the couch ready to go. 5mins latyer when he hadn't appeared I went looking for them. Could have had an extra bit of sleep. Very annoying!
Definitely have cracked nipples. Midwife was impressed with the size of them. Not good. Attachment is all good, so just have to give them time to heal. Might try some different po

Cally, bugger about the cracks in the nipples, I hope they heal quickly for you. That's great news about Katie's weight gain too. I had to laugh at you getting up and getting ready - I have really vivid dreams like that from time to time too and have to give myself a reality check LOL.
Leanne, Olivia is going great! I think it's a bad time of year for little bubs getting the sniffles - hayfever season is in full swing and I just think that their little sinus's can't handle it all kwim?
Master A is sleeping at present. He had his last feed about 1hr earlier than normal, so I'm hoping tht I can get the other three bathed and fed before he needs another feed - keep your fingers crossed for me LOL.
-
hey all just thought id pop in had a great night shes waking every 3 - 4 hrs for a feed n i managed to getaround 7hrs sleep.. shes very settled now we are hme n ive got the midwife coming today to check her out hope everyone is well must post a pic later :)

Congratulations noni! Good to finally see you in here!
I think things are settling down into some sort of routine for us now. DH is back at work and Will seems to be in a vague sort of pattern. We had a few terrible nights where he wouldn't go to bed and if he did it was only for an hour or so. He wanted to feed constantly, which left us both tired and crying. Then he went back to being a happy little boy again. From the pattern of unsettled nights, it looks like chocolate is a no-no for me now. A bit sad, but I guess I prefer happy baby and sleep to chocolate.
Yesterday he wouldn't drink from leftie all day, it was so full and sore I had to express some. Thankfully by last night he was drinking from both sides again.
He is now sleeping 3-4 hours at a time, but will spend around 4-5 hours during the day awake in one go. Is that a long time for a newborn? He doesn't cry, just likes to sit in his bouncy or pram and watch stuff.
Hope everyone got some good sleep last night
-
hi everybody :)
noni - great to see you here. Aren't you a lucky one getting so much sleep!!! Sounds like you've got everything under control.
arte- so happy that William has settled again for you. I hear you on the choccie. My dh received a block of fruit and nut from his mum and it is sitting in the cupboard staring at me. It's just not worth it though. the midwife at clinic told me to start introducing it again at about 4 months. She did say though that a square of chocolate should be ok. How the heck am i meant to stop at one little square!!!lol.
J and Z would be so happy if Hannah stayed awake for 4 hours during the day. She starts to get antzy after about half an hour of awake time.
We had another good nights sleep. Fed at 7:30 with a top up at about 9:30. Then we went to bed and she woke again at 2:30am. Back to bed at 3:30 and awake again at 7. What a good little girl she is being for her mummy!!!

put a pic in my members gallery :)
-
noni - she's adorable!!
I was just having a shower and when i got out milk was shooting out everywhere (feed time!!) Jess jokingly said she'd have some. I told her to get a cup and i caught a little bit in it. We all had a taste!!! The girls decided that Hannah could have it all to herself lol. I was expecting it to be sweeter, didn't really do it for me though- so will be sticking with the Physical.lol.

Hi All,
Noni- Asha is just beautiful and congratulations again.
Well I just finished vacuming and Olivia is awake in her rocker which she loves. Yesterday she was awake a lot but last night she slept very well only waking for feeds and then going straight back to sleep which I like. And I have started bleeding again oh when will it end. I had a whole week with nothing and then yesterday it started again. what tha....
DH is coming home early today to take me shopping yippeeee... And next week my cousin is taking me to DFO on thursday which I am looking forward too.
Well have a lovley day to everyone
-
Leanne - have a wonderful time shopping with your DH. I too am looking forward to when the bleeding stops! I guess we've had a good run without it for 10 months though haven't we!
-
LOL - I think we are all looking forward to our lochia being finished - AF will be the next thing *sigh*.
Noni, so glad to see you out and about on here. Asha is just too cute!
Jaz, I've never seen what the fuss is about BM - it's rather bland if you ask me.
Arte, Master A has about 2, sometimes 3hrs awake time and has already fallen into somewhat of a morning sleep and arvo sleep for about 4hrs each. They all do it differently and next week he could be different again.
Leanne, a shopping trip sounds great.
we had another 6hr stretch last night 10-4, but he didn't really go back off to sleep after that 4am feed, just dozed, so I popped him in bed with me so I could sleep and he was right because he was with me kwim? So I am a bit bleary eyed today LOL. He is asleep now, but will wake again soon.
-
Well it is has been busy in here.
I went out yesterday to do soem christmas shopping and then have coffee with a friend it was such a big day. I have been out all morning today too. Logan is in his rocker now where he will hopefully sleep for a few hours so I can get soem housework done.
Sherie I had Logan in with me the other night as he was a bit sooky (plus I love him sniuggling with me lol) so I know what you mean about being bleary eyed. Dont even mention AF I have convinced myself it will never come back lol.
Jazmum my DH tried my milk the other day he said it wasnt much different from normal milk. I will have to try it I think.
Leeane lucky you going shopping with your dh, hope you pick up some bargins.
Cally PMSL at your dream and then waiting for dh to bring bub out. I hear you on the cracked nipples it is awful isnt it.
Art Logan is awake alot in the day too. He doesnt mind his bouncer but much prefers my lap.
Noni Asha is absolutley gorgeous. How did it go with the midwife?
-
Noni - congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy 0th Birthday Asha :happybirthday:
MD - yes, it's the nipple exposure I'm worried about and I can't even bfeed in front of my girlfriends, such a prude..hoping to get over it and become more of the National Geographic-mother-goddess or I'll have to live in confinment! Thanks for the tea tips, i'll find Madura and have a decent cuppa for a change :)
Jaz - a snot sucker? hilarious! sounds really handy though, how does it look like? Do I just go to the chemist and ask for a 'snot sucker' or does it have a different name? I'll try the muslin trick, maybe in a small coffee shop first, in the darkest corner.. Oh that is TORTURE about the chockie!! definitely not possible to stop at 1 square, thats crazy!!! Keep strong, dont let that block of fruit and nut stare you down.
Sherie - thats unfortunate about last night..it sucks not getting that quality sleep. Alex has a sore bum because Im on 3 different types of antybiotics (have a lot of fresh bleeding still 4 weeks after birth), so he cries and grunts a lot in his sleep - no shut eye for us either. Poor DH went to work unshaven with dark circles looking like the bog monster. Do you get a chance of getting some rest during the day at all?
Leemar - glad Olivia's all good :D
Cally - what a strange dream! I get the re-curring one where I dream that Alex is in bed with us getting smothered by the doonah, so I wake up, jump out of bed, sift though the sheets and rip the doonah off the bed to find him. DH finds it very annoying and I feel like an idiot every time  can't help it though.. Isnt that strange how the dreams seem so real though?
-
Hm, feeling lonely in here all by myself :P
Posted 3 pics of Alex, he is so much fun to photograph :)
Hope everyone is getting in those cat naps!
