Glad to hear I'm not the only useless feeling one (even though my sensible brain knows that neither I nor any of you are useless, my sleep deprived brain says otherwise). Holly's been quite unsettled for a few days too. Glad DH is here. Getting a bit worried how I'll go when he goes back out bush.
What meds is she on TM? Did they let you know all the other non med stuff you can do to help her? How was her u/s?
Hope the thrush treatment helps Phe. That sucks. I had that at the start with DD1 (lol feels odd to write that after 6 years) and getting on top of it really helped.

I think a C section can cause more mucous in baby's tummy/throat/mouth to remain too which can make feeding harder. A midwife told me this as H had mucous even though she was born vaginally.
-
she is happy unless she is laying down and spits up everytime she lays down. When she nurses she arches her back and unlatches and screams (at night only) but to be honest..we have been on the medicine for a day and I havent noticed any changes so if it doesnt get better then Im taking her off and doing my own natural stuff and assuming its normal? I HATE the idea of a newbonr on medicine...

TM - how's little Violet going?
Phe - how's the thrush? Clearing up?
Cooper is back to 2-3 hourly feeds which is mighty draining... He is also very unsettled after his last nightly feed, we can be up for hours, drifts and then back to fully awake or crying cos he is so tired. I think I got 5 hrs of unbroken sleep between all of his feeds.

Hi girls, have been reading along but haven't had a chance to post properly, sorry! TM, have you tries putting towels or something under her bedding to slightly elevate her head? That apparently helps a bit. Not sure what else can b done, goodluck!

Hi all, I've been like Hopeful, reading all the posts but not having a chance to reply! It's been great having this forum and the Facebook group to keep in touch with everyone - I know it has helped me a heap to be able to post concerns/questions/frustrations and have a lot of advice come back! I think it's good for us to see we're all going through similar things as well.
Cameron is going well. He has been a little unsettled the last couple of days but slept beautifully last night - a good 6 hour stint! Very pleased with that. It's been tricky getting him to nap properly during the day as well. We've been back to 'it's okay to sleep on mummy but I can't sleep in my bassinet/swing/pram'. With that said, he's been settled in his bassinet for the past 2 hours so obviously we're having a good day today. Although, I break days up into 2 parts really now, sometimes he has a great morning and not-so-great evening or vice versa. It isn't the same for the whole day very often! He is lovely though and we're enjoying him. I can't wait for him to start responding to toys and the like, it'll make it a lot easier to settle him during those screaming moments when nothing seems to soothe!
Take care everyone,
Carly

Carly D is the same. Catnaps during the day with a preference for body to body contact but she does settle well after feeds at night.
My mum gave me some great advice- you might already be doing it as it's pretty simple - but if you nurse bubba to sleep wait for 20-25 mins after he has fallen asleep before moving into the cot or bassinet. This is because it takes about 20 mins for a baby to move from light to deep sleep so they are less likely to wake up if moved or shortly after if in a deep sleep.

ShanD - Re the thrush... not really... it is clearing on her bottom cause I keep remembering the cream there, but I keep either forgetting to put the oral gel into her mouth or she's fallen asleep when I want to do it and I'm scared of waking her up. It's really annoying having a medication you have to put in at the end of a feed, especially when you're not if sure she's finished or not or if she falls asleep during it. Plus it all tends to stay in a big glob instead of spreading through her mouth, either that or she swallows it or tries to eat it straight away. Sigh. 2-3 hourly feeding would drive me crazy! I'm trying 'no longer than 4 hour sleeps during the day and demand feeding at night'. So far it hasn't worked since little Miss won't settle at night!
Carly - I'm the same. Love having you all there for the advice. I'm glad in a way that Emily was late cause then I can bounce ideas off you guys who are all a few weeks ahead :P Oh I am SO jealous of you having a settled baby at night and SIX HOURS sleep! I had 2.5 last night. I've caught up a little bit with a nap during the day, but it's not the same. I have the 'it's okay to sleep on mummy but I can't sleep in my bassinet/swing/pram' at night!! Just glad she doesn't scream when she's unsettled.
LL - I have been trying to follow the 20-25 minute advice, but it's so hard at night when all you want to do is put her down so you can go to bed. Or in my case, so you can then EXPRESS for 30 mins, so you can then go to bed. Emily always has 30 minutes over me :P
So as you can gather I'm having a rough time.... I have a nocturnal baby who sleeps really well during the day but won't settle at night unless she is ON me. I have to express all the time so she has top-ups available for when she's too lazy to do the boob properly. I'm not getting much sleep. I'm sick of everyone saying I'm doing everything right. I want to be doing something wrong so I know what it is so I can fix it, IYKWIM. I am worried this will still be going on in 3 weeks when DH has to go back to work. I am SO grateful he got 6 weeks off. I don't know how I'd be doing it without him. He has been wonderful.
On a brighter note, we got her birth certificate today! :D

I hate to admit it but the medicine is really working for Violet..she no longer acts like she is in pain while and after nursing..darn I guess she does have reflux
-
Hey girls just popping in to make sure everyone is well and coping with the huge adjustment to their lives.
TM .. how's violet? What medication have they put violet on for her reflux? Milly is on Omeprazole (losec) once daily ... I hate giving it to her but it definately helps. I hate reflux (its what kept miss a in hospital so long because it caused her heart rate to drop and oxygen saturation to drop also) have you tried propping violets bed up ? Keep her up after a feed too. Helps them digest it better ...
Phe which birth certificate did you get? I got the one with the bears on it :) was Sooo cute. Sorry your having a hard time too. Have you tried infacol because it could be wind pain if she won't settle at night. Since miss a has been on it, she's been tonnes more settled xx
Miss A has been home just over a week. It's been a quite trying but very rewarding time so far. It looks as if she's settling into a routine.
Anyways just sneaking in to check on you all... :) miss u guys xx

Hi, I would love to join this group. My son was born by c-section on the 9-2-12. I have 3 sons 18,and turning 5 and my baby. It will be wonderful to talk to somone who is going through the same things for some advice and a chat.
This is only a quick hello as my baby is just about to wake up for his bottle. But i just wanted to say hi and i cant wait to get to know you all better:hello:
-
Hi rai!
Lys hello to you too! I've been thinking about you. Hope all is good.
-
Hey ladies,
I hope you don't mind me sneaking in here with all my belly buddies! I was due on the 10-2-12, but madam decided to wait til the 19-2-12.
Macquenzie Finlay Ann was born via emergency c-section at 6:19am on the 19-2-12 at 7pound1oz (3.2kg) and 50cm.
I was induced at 8pm on the 17th, so it was a long time to wait for her.
Short version- she had the cord wrapped around her neck and had to come out as her heartrate dropped below 80 for 10min.
I havent had time to read all the way through the thread, but congrats all and I look forward to talking to you all.
We are exclusively BF, and I have just found out that Quenzie is dairy/soy intolerant, and is most likely gluten intolerant too. So I am now on a dairy free diet and will be completely gluten free in 2 weeks time also. Bit of a lifestyle change.
I am starting to recover from my sect now (3.5 weeks post partum)- but did WAY too much today and I am SO sore! and its really late- so bedtime I think.
Xx
-
Dragon hello! I love reading everyone's stories. How are you feeling now? Still a bit sore?
So does anyone else have this with their bub- H onor catnaps all day and won't really sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time. Usually she naps in my arms and won't go down in her cot or else she'll go in the cot but wake up 5-20 minutes later and cry. She settles well in the cot at night and sleeps in cycles of anywhere between 3 and 6 hours at night so this settling thing is a daytime issue. Any ideas? I don't mind nursing her for stretches but it feels like I can't do anything at the moment not even eat my lunch or go to the toilet!
-
LL - Ellis is exactly the same, but often I have to do things with/for Hayden so Ellis has to just cry sometimes, and sometimes its in the car... poor little man.
-
LL- Miss A is the same, but so were the other two, so I was prepared for it
Hi Dragon!!
-
LL yes yes and yes!!Holly is exactly the same. I was going to post the same thing. I have no idea either - you'd think I would after 2 non sleepers :wall: I've ordered a couple of different ergo cocoons to see if they help make any difference. Though I have discovered Miss H likes to sleep on her belly....not so great.

Hey Ladies!
Sorry I havent been on inawhile. Violet is doing amazing. We stopped the meds as they started not helping and suddenly she was completely fine which makes me believe it wasnt reflux.
Im getting angry in regards to birth control. I cant take any hormonal birth control as it makes me have horrid anxiety/irritability/ and migraines. I cant have any IUDS because of the shape of my uterus and condoms irritate me! Im getting ready to become abstinate lol
