I agree with you, Jellyfish. You just kinda go with the flow if you can!
We moved DD2 into her own bed at 10 mths. You should see the fuss she kicks up if I try to snuggle with her after a bf and go back to sleep. :( I almost liked it when she was sick, because then she's happy to stay close and snuggle. Completely the opposite to DD1 who only just stopped coming in for at least a couple of hours of snuggling about this time last year. We even took the safety bar off the side of the junior bed for DD2 the other day because she gets up and down and sleeps so well she doesn't need it. So much for my baby!

It is similar here; DD2 has just started sort of pulling off and rolling over to settle into sleep properly, I remember DD1 didn't do that till she was over 2 so I'm thinking she might be earlier to sleep through. DD1 is a metabolistic machine so I think she really needed those night feeds too because she eats and eats and eats but is tiny (genetics). DD2 has always felt more settled and is definitely a more well built baby (was a kilo heavier at birth).
The best thing I ever did with DD1 was get rid of the clock in our room. I think it is just better not to know haha.

i think i have worked out what is frustrating me. DD was a reluctant sleeper, at 15 months we got the first 5 hour block of sleep, but we could see improvements happening over time.
DS seems to be getting worse, and more like DD was, but it was this age for DD (12 months +) that we started to see improvement. i know they are different kids, but i was hoping that if i just held out, kept attending to all his needs, then he would get there too and we could all start to sleep again. But he seems to be going back the other way.
He won't sleep during the day at all many days, and is still wakeful over night. Also, he isn't just happy to have a feed and go back to sleep, most nights we have 2 hours of him climbing, headbutting, wacking etc at one wakeup before he will settle again.
I have only had 2 sleepins in 3 years, and i still had them coming in. Some days, i just wish i could check myself into a motel for 48 hours and lock the door and sleep or relax and just be me.
He is an awesome little kid, very funny, cheeky, loves to laugh and make people laugh, loves to play with DD, i would just be able to appreciate him, and everyone else, a bit more if i had more energy.
