Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Hi ladies. Sorry I've been quiet, Emily had her needles the Friday before last and we've had a horrible week! Very upset and hardly any sleep. She never reacted to the other needles, and neither of my boys reacted like that for any of their needles either - if anything they slept more after them! I've also been so flat out with my foster cats - at one stage I had 23 cats here (6 of my own + 17 foster cats). I am back down to 19 in total now.
Cinder, sorry you're having a hard time with DD1, hope it's a phase that passes quickly. What are you thinking of studying?
vic, hope the conjunctivitis has cleared up okay, poor Jack.
Andie, your little guy must be such a wee little thing! My boys were always around 97% on the charts! And it's all new to me having Emily around the 50% mark. I guess you would be getting good use out of all his clothes?! Emily is in 00 and 0. Sometimes I squeeze her into a 000 depending on what it is. Our pram didn't come with carrycot/chair attachments, it just had 3 positions - flat, midway and sitting. We've been using the sitting position a bit lately, but she is still facing me so I can keep on eye on if she's slipping down!
We've had a few day sleeps in the cot. It's hard work though as it takes her longer to settle than what she actually sleeps for. DH takes the easy way out when he's home and puts her to bed in the bassinet and he wraps her too! Then brags to me that he got her to sleep haha! Yes... by undoing the hard work I do while he's at work!! No plans to start solids here yet, she doesn't seem to be ready at all. We have fully weaned from expressing though. I expressed for the last time last week. It's bitter sweet - yay for no more pumping, but I did imagine I'd have all the time in the world to breast feed for longer with my big boys at school but with her tongue tie and the week in hospital having bottles.. it wasn't to be. She slept through last night for the first time in what seems like forever (has only done it a few times before and hasn't happened for ages) and surprisingly the extra sleep has made me more tired! Haven't stopped yawning all day and even had a nap earlier

cinder - i think i will start wearing him a bit more now that he's a bit bigger, he usually just falls asleep after a short protest but now i think he should be able to look around and enjoy it a bit more. hope you dd1 has calmed down a bit... xx
vic - carrot is the worst coming back up, you poor thing! i think i need to up my little one's tummy time... he is no where near rolling yet! well done, jack. :)
peeks - i hope emily is ok now. a few people have said that their little ones have reacted strongly to the 4 mth vaccinations... making me a bit nervous about getting ours done. i wonder if they have changed the dose/make-up of the vaccine? yes, my little one is a weenie but he's growing longer every day. he is in 000 jumpsuits, and can still wear his 0000's pants/shorts. my dh will walk our little guy outside until he goes to sleep when its his turn... fair enough i guess... but we are trying to maintain a sleep routine & walking him until he is exhausted from looking at everything is not going to work for me during the day! we are still wrapping, but loosely and leaving the top open a bit so he can get his hands out to chomp on.
afm - just plodding along really, the nice weather is making things easier (ie the 30-40 min catnaps!). have a baby led solids/weaning info session via mchn this week, will be interesting. im thinking we will maybe do a mix of puree & baby led, but i guess we will see how he goes/what he likes. mum asked me yesterday how long i was going to breastfeed for, i said i wasn't sure... have to see how the little one goes etc. she reckons if im still breastfeeding by 10-12 mths it will be more about me rather than him. :o

Ha ha Andie at your mum !
I BF DD1 for 32 months and it was def all about her ha ha :)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
I know... just had to roll my eyes at that one! I did try to explain that's its not just about food, benefits of breast feeding etc. but couldn't be bothered going there with her. Must be a generational thing??
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Hi ladies, hope you are all well :) Haven't read all the past posts, but read up briefly.
Peeks, I have to say well done at your breastfeeding efforts! Even after all the tongue problems, so many women would have just thrown in the towel. Well done!
Andie, is your little guy sleeping any better during the day? DD used to have 40 min cat naps all day, drove me mad! But I taught her to self settle at 13 weeks and her day sleeps are great.
Vic, First time child care must have been daunting :( I can't wait to go back to work for a couple of days a week. Even though I know i will be a mess when I do
Hi to everyone else, hope you are all doing fantastic :)
We are doing great here, just started some solids. Dd was eyeing off my food for the last few weeks, watching every bite! So we knew she was ready. Had her 4 month needles 2 weeks ago and she was fine, no problems thank goodness. Had some bad nights with teething, but as soon as I give her some panadol she's asleep again within 10 minutes. So far have only had to use it twice, not too keen on giving it all the time. I know when the bad nights are coming because her left cheek is bright red. She has also been rolling for about 3 weeks now and i think crawling won't be too far either. Weaning from wrapping here too, she can do one arm out easily, but the past week ive had both arms out and it's a different story :/ She takes about 20 minutes to fall asleep because she is rubbing her bunny all over her face and knocking her dummy out and crying. Hopefully she'll get it soon!
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Yup I think it is Andie as well :/
For what it's worth my mum doesn't know how long I BF DD1 cause I didn't want to have to deal with her "opinions "
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
cinder - I think I may have to go down that road too, which is annoying bc I see my mum quite often. I guess she'll just have to get used to it. :)
tasha - hi, nice to hear from you! yeah, my little guy still does the 34-40 min naps during the day, I just go with it now. it was getting too hard to get him back to sleep & he seems fine during the day, happy enough. occasionally he will surprise me with a longer one, like yesterday morning when he slept for 3 hours :o. I managed to straighten my hair, do some washing, sunbake for 15 mins... it was lovely. im glad your dd was ok with her needles, we are going today to get them done. hopefully he will be ok. we are no where near rolling yet, still building strength at tummy time so I guess it will happen eventually. ;)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Definitely a generation thing re BF. Same as toilet training! My Nan has made a few comments on all the Grand kids that hadn't toilet trained by 2 years old. DS2 just took ages for it to click! He was 3 years, 2 months by the time he got it sussed. And that was only for day time.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
yep, my mum reckoned she had me & my 2 siblings toilet trained by 12 mths. sure you did... :-|
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
So does my mum :/
She thinks it's so strange that DD1 is 3.8 months and not toilet trained .. What can we do ? Force her .. No that won't work ..
"Oh but you and your sisters TT fine , it was so easy "
"You and your sisters went to sleep on your own and slept all night at a few months old "

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Hey ladies :) Is this thread still up and running?
Just sharing my excitement that dd has a tooth! I didn't even notice so not sure when it came haha
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Oh yay Tasha !!!! Exciting :) how cute are first teeth :)
We have no teeth here yet but we are crawling and have been saying mum for months haha :)
So excited to be a family of 4 for Christmas :)
How is everyone and their bubs ?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Wow cinder! crawling? I can't wait for that, but I can. Cos then I have to baby proof things
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Yeah she just started .. It's great and it's not at the same time lol..
She is growing to fast :( and now I have to be extra careful cause DD1 has all of her toys which are not all baby appropriate as in small parts so I have to be on an even bigger look out !!
I'm trying to remember when DD2 got teeth but I can't lol oops
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Maybe a play pen kind of thing? I was just discussing this with my DH yesterday because I think dd will start crawling any day now. I cant see all of the lounge room from the rest of the house so that will suck. We don't have any older toys lying around, but we do have the dog, and all his fur!! "lol"
She can sit, but still a bit wobbly. I'm also not liking the whole trying to roll in the cot thing. I tuck the blankets in so tight so she can't lift her legs up to roll over  She will just wake herself up at night if she rolls over.
Anyone still wrapping ? We have just weaned from the wrap (well arms anyway) I only wrap her torso now. last night was her first night with both arms out and she woke up twice, but she'll get the hang of it. She's fine at day sleeps.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
We weaned from wrapping a few months ago , we did the one arm out then both arms . Now she is in a sleeping bag . She rolls at night and will sleep on her tummy or on her side :)
As soon as she started to roll I wanted to get her out of the wrap as in a wrap she wouldn't be able to roll back over iukwim .. Also as it's so hot now I didn't want her stuck wrapped up ..
It was a pretty easy transition actually , which is good ha ha ..
