Bubba is still too small for the jumperoo (length and weight) but i put him it cause he loves the feeling of being upright and new toys and sounds
i also pop his dummy into his mouth at my bedtime (which most books say NO) but its stopped him waking up 3-4times a night screaming for it!
ive had such a horrible tummy bug all week :( im very slowly getting over it but still very exhausted from it!
we also have adopted 2 cats :D weve been saying for a long time we wanna get a cat for DD but wasnt looking forward to the new kitten stage and all the vet bills! but yesterday my old landlord posted on FB she had to give away her 2 cats :( so we adopted them :D DD is going to be over the moon!!!
my back hasnt been very bad this week :D barely had to use my pain relief :D painful today but thats a good sign its starting to improve :D ment to have physio tomorrow but have my nephew and my BB mothers group tomorrow! so i dont see my physio until wednesday! DH needed my appt anyways!

Why do the books say no dummy? its meant to help bring down SIDS risks? and I have never come across anybody whos teeth have been damaged by a dummy. Why are people so anti them?
If you have a colic or fluxy baby I dont know how you could get by without them!
Good to hear your back is getting better.
Im so jealous about the cats. I am desparate to get a cat but dh is really firm on not til baby is older :crying:

MoT - congrats on the new car. yes the back wriggling is cute, i call it the back caterpillar lol. william did it til he hit his head into furniture, and then hit furniture with his hand as if to say "get out of my way". too cute.
glad to hear your back is feeling as though it is getting better. i hope it continues to improve.
we just started using a dummy on william this week, beforehand he wouldnt take it. but he is now and it is keeping him calmer and more content, so I am all for them.
DT - They are definately getting more expressive, the different faces are hilarious and cute.

DT- the reason why its not recommended to pop the dummy in while they are sleeping as they form more of an attachment to them and soon wont sleep without one in his mouth, because his not waking up crying im encouraging more of a dependcay for it! but i dont care im not getting up 3-4times a night!
im all for dummys as well! DS1 had colic and survived on his dummy DS2 has heartburn and reflux so he also is addicted to his dummy

Thought I'd drop in and say hi (just for you dt!) Have had a quick read of this thread, sounds like all these babies are becoming quite adventurous!
E is doing great. I'm absolutely loving this age, she is so interactive and easy to get around with - and contain in one area. She has only rolled from her front to back a handful of times. She has recently discovered mmm sounds, so cute hearing her chat away in her bassinet
She has slept through the night twice (although we didn't) but is generally still waking for 2 feeds a night. I hate hate hate people asking if she is sleeping through the night cos I feel like such a failure when I say no... Then they go on that she must be hungry and I should feed her solids and blah blah blah. We were pretty much doing the same as melbournemumma, but when E is in bed with us I leave the night light on and just never felt like I was sleeping properly. Now we set a ten minute alarm on our phones and assess the situation then.
Can't recall who asked- but apparently avocado is one of the most nutritionally complete fsolid foods for LOs.... Has anyone else heard that?
Is anyone else returning to work? I need to decide what to do really soon and it breaks my heart to think of it :(

Funny how people are always trying to "fix" babys hey. Like there is something wrong with them if they dont sleep through the night or if they have unsettled periods etc. I am yet to ever come across 1 of these amazing babys, never heard of 1 so I'd love to know why we are held to ridiculous standards of achievements. God my almost 4 year old stil doesnt sleep through the night. At some point I will hear MUMMY I NEED YOU, if Im really lucky he will alternate with the baby wanting to be fed every 2 hours :LOL:

I have Sophie sleep on 1 side of our bed at night with a sidebarrier to stop her falling out and I sleep on the otherside- dont let poor dh near her at night, he just sleeps too heavily. With her reflux and waking up screaming sometimes cant breath I wouldnt sleep at all if she was in her cot- even though its just at the end of our bed.
MOT- When S was born at the hospital they use to pull her dummy out, tell me not to use it and I would smile and pop it back in :lol:- thats was an awful place filled with screaming babys- people just dont pick a crying baby here.
Got DS1 home with a really bad sore throat, poor sweety was awake most of the night crying in pain even after we gave him pamol he was wimpering. Hoping nobody else gets it.

It's nice to hear that someone elses baby is still waking during the night Harriet :D H-man slept in his bed all night the other night and woke at 11, 3.30 and then 8.30. So all in all ok, but the last few nights he's been unsettled, had a red bum been chewing on my nipple (OUCH) and really pooey so I'm thinking we could be discovering some teeth in the next week or so but who knows :D.
Apart from that we've given him a few different foods to try, farex, avocado, fruit and DH gave him a piece of toast to gum on this morning. He's not dependent on food yet so if I forget to give it to him it's not that big a deal. All in all he's going ok. He managed to get his knees under himself the other day and lifted his bum and tummy off the floor but didn't go anywhere :D. Was really cute though.

MelbourneMumma & Harriet, Annabelle is certainly still waking at night! It's worse at the moment thanks to all the moving and being generally out of routine and unsettled, but today we got back to normal and she's having a lovely nap :) But yeah, nights at the moment are just completely exhausting. I mean she wasn't sleeping through all night every night anyway, but now she's just needing to feel a little more secure I think.
Harriet & DT, I so get what you mean about "sleeping through" being such a big deal! It's the one question I get asked most and I hate it, because when I say no (even if I say she wakes just once or twice) I get looks of such pity, like I've failed to teach her to sleep properly and they're so sorry I'm not getting however many hours in a row of sleep they think I should be getting. I figure if me, DH and Annabelle are ok with our situation, then it shouldn't really matter to anyone else. Anyway, rant over lol.
DT, I saw your post about where is everyone and I was thinking the same thing a while ago! I know more babies were born around this time but everyone must be busy. I'll be on more now that we've finished moving and got our internet back :)
Melbournemumma, how cute is the bum in the air thing? Annabelle can get her just off the floor but her legs are flat, or she can get her bum up in the air but her face is on the floor lol. We've started putting our hands behind her feet and she pulls with her hands and pushes off, she loves being able to move so I think she really can't wait to be able to go places on her own!

Seriously, Im super happy that Sophie wakes just twice a night at the moment, last night DS2 called me into his room roughly every 45mins from 1am :doh:
Nobody here asks how often baby wakes, I dont think my husband would even know to tell them ;) but everybody asks- does baby drink mummys milk or formula.
Do your babys have tears when they cry? When Sophie was born she had crusty eye and it went away for awile after squeezing BM into it, but at 3 months no tears, at 4 mths we took her to dr and got some drops, 2 weeks later stil nothing, see another dr, and more drops, but stil no tears. She gets red, eye get watery but no tears come out. I think she has shed 5 tears in total. so I guess we ask dr at 6mth check when we go to the big city hospital.
She is really enjoying pear/apple puree. Not really liking farex but cant blame her there. yesterday she had a hungry day, just wanted food, and by mid afternoon she had only had 150mls of milk, she just didnt want it :o Today is back to normal.
K you must be so releaved to have moved! I stil havent fully sorted our house from the move we made in feb! I hope your more organised then me :lol:

Can y'all believe it! 6 mths! not little babies anymore. Got some babbling, interactive precious little people here now. Eating, drinking and laughing, Awsome!
So- what are y'all buying baby for xmas? I bought Sophie a little rocking horse- made from bamboo in traditional chinese style but has a proper seat with back so can attach a saftey harness if need be.
So glad we dont live where christmas is really done. I couldnt handle driving the kids around from place to place etc.
Got everybody at home at the moment. All sick with a virus cough, sore throat etc. Antibiotics dont seem to be working so well, so we are just taking it 1 day at a time.

Lol DT, nope, I really don't believe it! The other night DH and I went through the album of DD on the computer, it really is incredible to see how much she's changed. I guess we don't take much notice of it because we're with her every day, but she really is a completely different little person!
Hmmm where are we at... Annabelle is sitting up really well now. She rolls everywhere and spins to where she wants to go, I can't rely on her staying in one general place anymore. She started getting bored with her little baby toys - rattles etc - so I've had to buy her a few more. We're waiting for Christmas for her big one though, we got her this play house thing. It's like the front wall of a house, with a door that opens and closes, mail box, lamp, all this stuff that's interactive. I can't wait for her to open it! She's also trying to get up to crawl - her chest is right up, or her bum is right up, but rarely both at the same time lol. If I help by holding up her belly she goes great! The cutest thing though is her trying to talk. She says something that sound like 'hi' and something that sounds like 'hello'. So adorable! I think it's because those are the words we'd say to her the most - every time she wakes up she gets "Hello Squinkie!" Lol.
Her sleeping is still a little off, but there are a few factors there, moving and teeth. She has her two bottom teeth just pushing through, they're the cutest little things :) Annabelle's gotten used to the move and sleeping arrangements now. When we were moving we had mattresses on the floor and she'd just roll to get me lol. Now she's back in her portacot next to the bed and it took a while for her to get used to not being able to roll to me. Then when the heat came and teeth started coming through, she was up *all* the time, and feeding for ages. She's getting quite a bit better now, she'll be back asleep after a couple of minutes and sleep well. She sleeps in the same position as me, on her side with her knee pulled up lol, it's so cute :)
Anyway, that's enough about us I reckon! DT, I never knew there could be an issue with a baby not crying tears! I've never been asked about it, but Annabelle definitely has tears now. I don't know when they started though. And I sure hope all your little ones are coping ok with the illness and recover soon.
How's everyone else doing? I'm guessing all the bubbas are changing so fast and getting so mobile it's hard to get a minute alone :)

WE are going well here. Loving this stage :D Hamish is just gorgeous not that I'm biased :D. He is able to get up on hands and feet like he's about to do a push up and then he pushes himself backwards. Gets so frustrated cause he's getting further from what he wants :D. He's not really sitting but that's cool. He still hasn't got teeth. Finding that a little funny as DS1` had them at 5 1/2 mths :D. Ah well. Sleeping is still not great and it's been affecting my mood too which isn't cool. Looking forward to Christmas and all the family arriving. We bought DS2 a couple of little things as we have heaps from ds1. He'll get spoilt by the rest of the family I'm sure :D

We're not doing much for Christmas in terms of presents. I have a few little things put away but she already has so many toys etc - plus its her first Christmas and I'm a little worried that the grandparents may go a little crazy. Christmas is a long day for us - 3 sets of parents to visit in the one day - Breakfast, lunch and dinner! I'm sure DD will be screaming her head off by the end of it
Sleep has gone even more backwards (how is that possible???) I think we had 5 wake-ups between midnight and 7am... but I can't quite recall. I am SO tired!
I have had what I think is blocked ducts since Thursday. Have tried everything I can to clear it up.... I now have bruises from trying too hard :( and still no relief.
Not much movement here. Only the occasional roll from tummy to back. DD tries to crawl by putting her face into the floor and lifting her bum up and kicking her legs. She is able to inch forward... Its very cute but like the others she does get very frustrated.

Lol MM, that push up thing is cute hey? Annabelle got herself right up into a tripod the other day, I have no idea how!! But the look on her face was priceless, a total WTF?? look lol.
Harriet, Christmas is usually a long day for us too. This year will be better than most though, because we'll do our first 3 hour drive on Christmas Eve, and stay with the in-laws for the entire day. Then Christmas morning it's an hour drive to my parents', and we stay there all day. Then 2 hours home on Boxing Day. Good luck to you with your travelling, and I hope your little one handles it ok!
Sorry girls, but it's kind of nice to hear your sleep is so horrible. I thought Annabelle waking every two hours was rough. But over the last week she's shortened her sleep stretches, until last night she woke every 50 minutes on the dot. I can only feed her to sleep, she won't accept anything else and if I try she hits, kicks and scratches, and eventually cries, until I feed her. So today I'm just a big emotional mess. I cried when she went down for a nap because I resented that she'd probably sleep longer then than she had all night (and she did). Then I cried when she woke up and smiled and goo'd at me because I loved her so much right then and felt so awful about how I felt earlier. And I cry when I think that I've got to start looking into daycare options before it's too late because I don't want to leave her. This sucks! I'm sure I could look at everything more rationally if I could just have some sleep :(

Ohh Kaytee, last night sounds like it was absolutely horrible for you. Its ok to cry. Get it out then give your DD big cuddles. It sucks so much that she can't tell you what is wrong.
If it helps, I had a pretty bad one last night also. An hour and a half to get DD to sleep after her bath (feeding her to sleep didn't even work!) then she slept for 10 minutes!Another 20 minutes to get her to sleep for her to only sleep for 30 minutes. I was on my own last night, so didn't get to sit down to eat til 9:30pm. We then had 4 wakeups overnight. Putting her down for a nap today... put her in the bassinet with her eyes open and she took herself off to sleep ... WTF?? She is super clingy today though, so typing with one hand while DD looks at photos on the wall next to us.
When do you need to start looking at daycare? I'm completely lost with what to do there also. I agree with needing more sleep to think things through.

Harriet, I sure did cry it out! I broke a knife in my failed Rocky Road and cried at it lol. I've booked her in to see a chiro on Friday morning, so hopefully that'll help, and also help get her feeding on the right side again (she'll only do the left properly at the moment).
Isn't it amazing how they change? Annabelle used to never nap and it drove me crazy, now she's great with day sleeps.
I go back to work early March :( I reckon I'll start her for a few hours the week before to see how she goes. I had a good chat with one of the mums at mother's group who's DS is going to childcare in a centre, and it sounds pretty good.

I feel sorry for you ladies who must go back to work- however, many women find it makes you a better mummy and wife and person- to have life outside of the home and to be able to retain some sense of self that can be lost when you spend all your time with your child/ren at home.
Sophie got an eye infection yesterday so this morning we took he to the hospital. The dr flushed out her tear ducts and has given us some drops for her. Flushing out the tear ducts was awful but it seems to have made a difference already.
Looking forward to the 6mth check- Im dying to get her weighed and measured. She feels so heavy.
Today when I made her lunch she grabbed the spoon out of my hand and laughed, she was so happy when I gave her a rusk to munch- doing it herself, but she wasnt really sure about the texture and the faces she was pulling were priceless
The boys are back at kindy today, it feels very empty at home after having a full house for the last few weeks, but its good for them to be there.
