Peanutter, great to have you here hun! Im another one who has been inspired to start expressing (doing it now). I figure that if I can fit it in once a day we"ll be off to a good start. Ash saw me doing it yesterday and his eyes lit up. he insisted oh 'helping'. very cute, but a bit counter productive.

Nickers, i saw the pic on fb... poor little man. cooper had a few odd hormonal spots while we were in hossy and they said not to put anything on them and to watch out for yellow crustiness cos its quite common for staph infections to start... Coopers cleared up quickly and were gone in a couple of days, fingers crossed Rykers do the same.

Razz, our feeds were taking close to an hour by the time he did 20 mins on each side, got burped with each side and had a nappy change. But in the last 4 or 5 days my supply has gone crazy and he's only taking about 15 mins on one side. It certainly makes night feeds a lot easier to stomach. I keep worrying that he's not getting enough, and have to keep reminding myself that that is silly thinking.

AFM we had a lovely weekend as a family. It was so nice and relaxed and Ash seems to be coming out the other side of the emotional rollercoaster that the arrival of Cooper brought. We had a picnic at the beach with some friends of ours and their little girl which was lovely, great weather, great company and great spot. I even had a cheeky glass on wine ;) Then when we got home we walked round to the shop to get some milk. I wasn't sure how I'd go, but made it there and back without any pains. So today I'm going to attempt a longer walk. Looking forward to being fully recovered and able to get out and about and be active again. I really miss being able to pick Ash up and chase him around. But hopefully only another couple of weeks and I'll be back to normal.

Nic- yay for super sleeps!!! You will feel so good today because of it i am sure.
buffy- your doing an amazing job with your little girl, your such a good mummy and the fact your getting the help and not trying to ignore it or hide it away shows you want the best for you, your bubba and your family xxx
Miss E- sounds like a great weekend, i went for a little walk with Ryker on friday last week, 10min each way, it felt so nice to do it so hoping to do lots more walks onces our routine and school gets back on track. Im glad Ash is settling in with his new little brother now, it does take some time, i remember when ds2 was born ds1 when through a real tanty stage.
expressing- ive never minded expressing, and ive done it each bub. but even if you are FT breast feeding its not a bad idea to have a little stash for the odd occaison. If you have a deep freezer you can freeze it for up to 6months, and 3 months in a normal freezer. 3-5 days in the fridge. Dont put it in the door of the freezer though, put it in the back part of your freezer where it wont get affected by opening and shutting of the door.
I havent been to the gp with Ryker yet i started putting paw paw ointment on it yesterday, it seems a little less angry looking thismorning. a work friend is coming over at 1130am and dh had to go into work today so i might try and hold off having to take him, it does seem like its a pretty common occurance, ds1 never had it and ds2 i remember had it and i looked back on photos and it was nothing in comparisson to Rykers rash. it makes me sad just looking at him :(
I will ring the photographer today and see what she thinks if his spots are still so bad for Friday. It was going to be mainly of him but i wanted a couple of nice ones of all 3 boys and a family one and if it doesnt happen Friday then we will have to look at a weekend she is free cause school goes back.

ds1 birthday is tomorrow, cant beleive my first lil boy is turning 6 yrs old! I made a cake yesterday and today's task is to ice it. We are taking the kids bowling tomorrow (hope Ryker doesnt mind the noise lol!) just his cousins (4 of them) and 2 school friends. then coming back here for some cake. I make a thing of making cakes so still trying to put the effort in, i bought a smurf cake pan which is much easier than baking cakes and cutting out the shapes. The time consuming part is the icing so will see how it all goes.

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello :) I don't have time to read back (it looks like you end of March girls have been a lot more chatty than us) but look forward to getting to know everyone.

DD was born on 7th March, she shares a b'day with Peanutter's DS and another bub in our group too. She has been feeding and sleeping pretty well. Although last night DD1 was sick and complaining of a sore throat and sore tummy. I struggled having to get up to both of them during the night and feel pretty crappy myself this morning.

Will try and get her weighed this week, I'm pretty sure she's growing well but will be nice to check how she is going. We're a bit concerned about her keeping her head to one side all the time and a ridge along one of the sutures in her head so will talk to the health nurse about those things too.

Question: did any of your babies get a cold when they were small? Judah has a cold, and a very wet cough, it's been going for about 4 days now, and I'm not sure when I should take him to the Dr ... at the moment, I'm worried that it's just a virus and if I take him to the Dr, he'll catch something worse in the waiting room! Anyone else?

Dd3 has one now and dd2 had one at about 4 weeks, I didnt take them to the docs, we've akl got colds atm

Peanutter, If I were in your situation I would head to the doctors.I'd just be concerned about the possibility of the early stages of whooping cough and I know it can be tested for. If you are worried about germs in the waiting room I'd suggest popping him in a sling/carrier if you have one. Just keep him nice and close and stay as far from other people as possible and touch the least amount of things that others could have touched (like magazines). Maybe take along a little bottle of antibacterial hand wash. I always keep one in the baby bag :)

Miss E glad Ash is feeling more settled. Your picnic sounds lovely its nice to get out the house even if you are tired, sometimes its more relaxing than being at home and thinking about all the things you could be doing

Nickers hope your DS has a great birthday, you have done well baking a cake already!

Peanutter if it were me I would take him to the GP for a once over JIC but then Im a nurse and always think worse case scenario espeically if he has a cough/wheeze. Like mylitta suggested pop him in a sling and sit in a corner, you can always ask the receptionist how many people are in front of you in the que and wait in your car for a bit if its going to be a while, maybe you could get a double appointment and get your 6 week check up out of the way too. Hope he feels better soon

None of my kids have had a flat head, so I can't comment from first hand experience, but a couple of the girls from my mother's group had kids with flat heads (one had to wear a special helmet for a while). One of the suggestions they were given was to put a little kiddy-safe mirror where they sleep but only on the side that they don't favour their head. So hopefully the mirror makes them want to put their head that side for a while.

thaanks mylitta, Ive got my close carrier today so Im planning on wearing her more to help and Im using a rolled blanket behind her during the day and keeping a close eye on her, mirror might be a good idea when she is a bit bigger at the moment she is generally turning her head the wrong way in her sleep

We went on our first big outing on the weekend. It was DH's Nan & Pa's 60 Wedding Anniversary and my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary, so we bundled Sam and Keira into the car and off we went. This would have to be the longest I have gone without holding Sam, as everyone else was keen to have a hold. I think from so many "new" people Sam was quite tired and slept all the way from 12 to 6am on Sunday morning, and then slept from 2am to 7am this morning.

After our MCHN visit Sam has put on 70g more than her birthweight (she lost 110 in the first few days) so she is definitely thriving.

Feeding: The left nipple is slightly lacerated so can be a bit painful with the attachment, but if I let Sam dictate the attachment 90% of the time its painless, so trying to really get those ones... and its really hard to break the seal when it does hurt, but I think the nipple is getting better. The right boob is fine. And Sam is usually wanting a feed every 3-5 hours, so happy about that... haven't quite got a handle on the leakage though... Woke up on Sunday with my pj top saturated (just from milk). Feeding time varies from anywhere from 20 mins to 1hr and a half. Although I suspect the longer ones I am just being used for comfort.

Peanutter... I am finding Sam has a blocked nose a lot of the time... no coughs though, but she just can't seem to get the boogies out... tried getting some breastmilk down there, but the mouth tries to attach instead.

Elocin: sounds like it could be a growth spurt... I hear there is a fussy period at 3-4 weeks where it seems like the babies are constantly feeding and grizzly... but we must remember the mantra "This will pass"

Damn this kid for lulling me into a false sense of security...

Me today = eyes hanging out of head.

zilly: not sure if any of this is new or useful at all, but re breaking the seal, have you tried poking your pinky finger in the corner, to break the "vacuum" effect, before pulling out? That's what I do, so it doesn't hurt ;) And with leaking overnight, if breast pads aren't giving you enough absorbency, you can buy a bandeau bra (those strapless tube ones) and just stuff a cloth nappy or two in there ... obviously won't be comfortable lying on your tummy, but will save your wooly underlay :D And with getting some boob juice up his nose, you can express (by hand) a few drops, and then use a medicine syringe to drop it up there :D

afm: DS2's cough has gone from wet to dry, and is only really when he's awake (and then is pretty sporadic) and the little bit of hoarseness is all gone, and still no fever, so we will just get him checked over tomorrow at my 6 week appointment. FX all is well!

been in a rut, just in a really really bad mood the past few days, losing my na na constantly.
DD2 has been really really effing difficult the past few days and pushing lots of boundaries,
Miss A i a treasure as always and has settled back into the school runs really really well.

Think my little miss is going through a growth spurt, she has been feeding constantly today. Now asleep on my chest bless her. Had a lovely candle lit takeaway Indian dinner last night will have to try and do something on a semi regular basis

Skye hope dd2 settles down, might be the lack of entertainment provided by dd1 in the holidays. I'm torn looking forward for school going back so the fighting stops but then dd2 will want more attention

Yeah I do the pinky thing, but she has a death grip with her mouth so it takes a little while to break the seal. Most of the time though she attaches well.


haven't been using the breast pads, as I have enjoyed being braless, but I might have to with the leakage.

Don't have any syringes here so I have to go get some so I have just been trying to aim and fire up the nostrils without much success.

I went for my first walk with my dog and the pram today (every other walk there's been another person to take the pram or the dog) so it was an interesting experience. The dog was well behaved though, so looking forward to more walks while the weather stays awesome at the moment :-D

skybie: just take a couple of deep breaths and hopefully you will get back into your groove

Zilly your puppy must be a good girl, I struggle walking with the kids let alone the dog lol. I sleep with a towel under me or a couple of cloth nappies to catch leaks as I sleep on my chest. Have already washed the underlay once, at least it's water proof and the mattress is safe

Oh and I jinxed myself grr have started bleeding again after a week with nothing, happened after the other girls too and I got af back within three months despite exclusively breast feeding. I feel jipped
