Just be careful with a beanie on him over night that it doesnt slide over his face when hes wriggles, I cant even put one on a in the car because she moves her head so much!
NightWas long but she slept well when she eventually settled at one
Thanks for your advice girls! I put a cotton beanie and an extra blanket on him as well as put the oil heater on low and he only woke at 11.30, 3.30 and 6.30... So MUCH better then the previous nights.
I need to research Grobags... I showed DH at the shops yesterday, but he's worried about C over heating while wearing it. Must look into it a bit more.
Buffy, I'm so glad your wkd away was a success!! Sounds like W has the traveling thing all sorted out! Your DH goes back to work next week? Man, that went so fast!!
LCT, oh hun, I'm sorry Y is mucking around on the boobI think Buffster is on the right track - have you called the ABA helpline? I hope it calms down soon x
Peanutter, glad to hear you're feeling better... I hope work is ok for you this week.
DonnaJayne, you are a freaking champion, moving with a baby! I can barely getting act together enough to put some washing on
SaraRose, H sounds like she's got this sleeping bizzo down pat... Can she have a chat with Master C please?
Miss E, when are you headed back to the oesteo?
Skybie, that's awesome that A slept so long yesterday? How'd she go over night?
A big hello to everyone else!!
DH is in Adelaide again to tonight. He left at 4.30am this morning and of course, C and I were up to see him go![]()
My parents are coming up today for a couple of nights... They are having Connor withdrawals and couldn't wait until the end of the month to see him.
I had a pretty ****ty end of week last week... Just feeling a bit down. I have to make sure I force myself to get out of the house... I cancelled on my ABA meeting but then felt worse for it. Am feeling better now, even though I'm functioning on less sleep.
Happy Monday ladies xo

Was just going to suggest you also have a look at the Merino wool bags. I love them! The merino wool is an amazing fabric and the bags can be used for temps between 18 and 30 degrees, so you don't have to worry about buying different tog rated ones for summer and winter, or about them overheating in them. I'm a big fan of the Merino Kids brand stuff, I bought 2 bags for DS1 (newborn to 2 years size) when he was a baby and they've lasted really well. I've actually just started putting Cooper in them. They are a bit more exxy than Grobags, but you get so much more use out of them, which IMO makes them cheaper overall. HTH
Second the merino!
Well after i posted about A's great nap last night, i had to wake her at 8 because it was coffee night at the Bff's, was going to leave her but DF was super tired and i thought id just take her, friends house is literally 2 minutes down the rd so wouldnt have been a huge issue if i'd left her but knowing my luck i would have been gone all of ten minutes and she would have woken!
got to BFF's and fed her about 830, wrapped her up and she slept until it was time time to leave abt 11!! then we got home, chenged her butt and wrapped her again fed her, thought we were good to go for a sleep but no, little muffet thought it was play time....till 1 am!!!! i gave in in the end and bought her to bed with me and she mucked about for another hr or so before finally crashing, needless to say i am knackered today! actually feeling a bit giddy in the head
Skye, sounds like the wrapping is helping A sleep soundly - except when you want her to! 1:00am play time is the funnest, apparently! I hate that dizzy tired feeling, take it easy today. Will you get a chance to catch some z's or too busy?
Elocin, biggest belated hugs for last week lovely. I'm sorry it was so crappy. Hopefully this week is much better, kicking off with a visit from your parentswhen does your DH return? So great that Mr C is all warm and cosy now too. A friend is lending us some grobags when W is bigger, for now we use Halo Sleepsacks and Kiddopotomus swaddles like Skye. They're both lightweight cotton but add a couple of layers, and are the only two brands W can't get her arms out of. I call them her cotton prisons
Miss E, thanks for the tip on the Merino bags - will suss them out.
Morning to the other ladies.
W definitely has her timing mixed up, very long naps yesterday arvo and evening up til 3:00 and then up every 1.5-2 hours afterwards. Not too bad though, I got a good block beforehand and she had a little sleep-in with us in bed this morning. Boring errand day today - crummy weather.
Thanks Miss E & Skye... Will spend some time on google!
Sounds like A was up for a party last night Skye! I hope you can rest up today!
Buffy, DH is back late tomorrow night and then has to work super early on Wed morning, so I probably won't see him until Wed afternoon.
Glad to hear you got a good block of sleep last night before W decided to keep waking up!
Thank you for the hugs too. Very much appreciated x
I was going to buy a Woombie or Ergo swaddle yesterday but then I realised that very rarely does C get his hands out when I wrap him properly... So I went to Big W and just bought some stretch cotton wraps.
I've been looking on eBay & Gumtree and have found some Grobags quite cheap, so I might give one of those a go and see what happens.
Skye and Buffy sounds like your little ladies should have got together for a late night party yesterdayHope you guys get some more sleep tonight
Elocin good luck with your sleeping bag hunting quest! grobags come with a room thermometer and a guide as what to dress bubs in according to room temp and the thickness of the sleeping bag
Buffy enjoy the movies I havent been in about 6 months! Hope W doesen't feel too bad after her vaccinations
Lct enjoy your swing, I love mine. I used a manual avent pump with dd1 but with dd2 I got the swing as I needed a quick pump with 2 kids to look after and it was so worth the investment. My friends sister borrowed mine and now I have it back so third child and its still going strong
Helena had an extra wakeup last night, I was getting used to only getting up once during the night and it threw me a bit! Had a nice day at ikea with my mum and sister and the girls. Mum wanted some things for her new kitchen and as normal at ikea I came home with lots of bits and pieces. H is fast asleep in her favourite spot, lying on my chest while Im on the lounge
So what nicknames have your little ones earnt? Helena so far has squirmy worm (becuase she doesnt keep still when awake), munchie moo and Laney-loo, DD2 generally calls her layna except if you ask her waht her sisters name is then she says Helena Kate G....
Hope everyone has a peaceful night
Love an Ikea trip! What goodies did you get Sara? Can't believe H has only been having one wakeup at night, I'm jealous! Maybe if I tell W she'll get all competitive
RE: nicknames, those are super cute. Ours change every day - munchkin face, chubba butt, Willow pants - but mostly she gets baby girl.
Judah-bear, Judah-face, Judah-cub, mini-man, Boob-a-loob, pook-a-bear ... etc.
Nicknames so far Rykie, Rykie Roos, gorgeous boy, porky pig ( when all he seems to do is ea lol)
So how often are your lil ones pooing? ryker poos every nappy change, in fact I get a shock if he hasn't pooed between feeds, but today was a pooathon!! started at his overnight feed he managed to push one out both ends a he same time lol, as in spew out one end the same moment he squished his dacks, then today he did his biggest by far, he had me in stitches with the faces he was pulling and the juicy sounds coming from his rear lol. Luckily all managed to stay in he nappy...
Lct- plastic masturbator lol you had me in stitches with tha comment!!! Anyone sick of seeing those danoz direct adds at all hours of the night?? I was thinking I could plug the medela pump but for getting rid of tuck shop arms......but maybe your dh has a better idea with it's uses
I'm sorry to hea bf has been tough for you, I really understand how you feel, I tried for 20min today to breast feed with constant on off pulling and a cranky lil man at the end of it I reverted to the ebm. Do what gets you by.
Buffy- glad yuou had a great weekend sounds aweomse.
Skye how was your day? I hope you get some better sleep tonight.
I can't remember what else I was gonna write, i have been trying to get on here to post all day
well we've had a fairly good day today!
she slept from 930-12 then 1-230 when i had to wake her for school. Was pretty unsettled till 5 and i just woke her up at 9 and she's having some staring time in her swing till while i type on here, hopefully she goes to sleep soon, could do with an early night!
weird though, even though she didnt feed for 4 hrs, my boobs were still soft and didnt feel full at all, dont know whats going on there.
Re nicknames, she has soo many! Chubs, Chubber butt, Midge, muffet, muffin head, pumpkin head, DF and mum insist on calling her Addy, which i hate!!
we dress Sammy in a singlet, a onesie, then a flannel wrap and when she goes to bed usually two blankets. she wakes up toasty most mornings although her hands are a little cold as I haven't been covering them. I got told a good way to determine if they are too cold/hot is to feel the back of their neck or chest and that will tell you. (although she squirms everytime with the back of the neck... so found a ticklish spot). And she also has a sheepskin on her mattress so she doesn't get any cold air from the mattress its-self
After not getting much sleep halfway through the week, she is now sleeping during the night. And I have been co-sleeping with her for the last couple of nights, which usually ends up with me waking up laughing my head off cause I am getting chased in bed by these little hands, and hearing suck suck suck... she hasn't latched on but is drinking the let down that is occurring. This has been keeping her even more toasty. Although we start all the nights in her bassinet.
Nicknames we call her squeaker as she makes lots of squeaks over night, and squeaks at the end of her cries(on the inhale breath)
lct if you think the fussing is due to a slow let down try putting bubs on their back (either with your legs crossed and bubs lying on them, or lying on the bed) and dangle your boob over them... admittedly it works better with bigger breasted women... easier on the back :-). If you think you have a fast flow, then have them lying across your tummy while you lie on your back will help with it.
during her last week she pretty much fed non stop, nut is mostly back to her 3-5 hour stretches. although when she gets too tired she doesn't know when to stop, and ended up doing a massive chuck.

Got me a Grobag from Toys R Us for $40!!! Woohoo!!
not Glandular![]()
Wow Elocin, that is a pretty good buy, aren't they usually about $70? Thanks for asking for tips about night-attire – I think we might have been under-dressing Yves after hearing what everyone else is using, so have put an extra layer on him last few nights. Maybe it worked, as we had a 4 hour sleep from 2-6, and then a gorgeous co-sleep-in from 7.30-10.30!
Sararose - Swing arrived yesterday, had a couple of tries with it, got about 50ml each time, not too bad for about 10 mins work. Sooo much better than manual, and not too noisy either. I haven't been to Ikea since Yves was born... could be dangerous... do they have great kids stuff?
Nicknames here - Dr Yves-il, Muppet, Little love, or sometimes just what we called him in the womb, 'dude'. Like when he has done a mega-poo, its just 'oh, duuuuuuuude!'
Nickers - Hehe bout infomercials. What I get sick of is the constant ads for funeral plans that are on during the day. Sometimes we have our afternoon feed in front of the tv (watching Ellen!), and the ads make me depressed! I hear you with the bf issues - its hard enough that it hurts, but when bubs also seem really distressed it just sucks all round. Having said that, Yves has improved the past few feeds so I will keep trying, but plan on expressing a bit of a back-up stock in case he needs it.
Zilly - thanks for the bf tips, I have had some success with the big-boob flop-over technique! Poor Yves, feel like I am absolutely smothering him, and of course DF gets jealous. At 4am, its a ridiculous scene, but whatever works!!! You and Sam seem to be really rocking it together, good to hear!
Skye - baking looked awesome, could have slammed a plate of whoopie pies while watching Game of Thrones last night. Note to self, buy some for next week!
Peanutter - Thank goodness you don't have glandular! How are you feeling now though? Quick question - do you find that EBM production goes down when you are unwell? I have a bit of a cold, wondering if this generally affects things at all?
Miss E – how is Coop’s reflux? When do you see the osteo again? Yves has been throwing up a lot more than usual lately too, hope it is just a phase.
Buffy – your weekend away sounds fantastic. We were thinking about going to Daylesford this weekend (Mothers day treat!). How much stuff did you need to pack for bub?! Am thinking we will need a caravan to cart it all… Can’t believe it is nearly time for your DH to go back to work. How are feeling about it?
Donna – Hi! How is the moving prep going? Big respect for you girl, I couldn’t arrange a packed lunch, let alone an interstate move!
Me-Lisa – gorgeous pics honey, hope your girls are doing well. I read your blog entry recently, about pre and post marriage dressing… very funny and accurate! (I am sitting here at 1pm still in my mismatched p.j.s!)
Mylitta - K's birthday looked amazing! How did you come up with the parachute idea? He looked so happy, such a handsome little devil!
Hi everybody else, hope the week is treating you well.
So, my questions for the panel today are…
How many poos each day are your sprogs producing? We are only seeing 1 every second day. Is this ok?!
I just got a new baba sling (to go with the other 4 carriers in the cupboard…) – any tips or experience in using them? I have been reading the BW thread, but maybe some of you have tried this style before?
Peanutter, awesome hun!!! Great news!!
LCT, it was originally $80, marked down to $60 and then 25% off. It's so cute too!
Y had a great sleep last night!! Awesome!
When you pack for Yves, basically pack everything! When we went away at Easter, I basically took all of his clothes... Just in case. Don't forget socks and mittens too!
We are usually getting at least one a day, sometimes two... I hope that's ok?!
Nicknames here include: Connor ba-nonna, grumble guts, baby kid, boy, chubsie, and like Yves, he gets 'duuuuuuuuude' a lot!!! DH and were saying last week that the poor kid isn't going to have a clue what his name actually is! And considering he already gets called by the cats names, I think we are just screwing with him!!!
Lct - still pretty sick, but looking at recovery in a few days rather than a few months ... phew! re milk production when sick, I haven't noticed any real difference from illness, but last time, I recall that I had a lot of supply issues re stress
Nic - thanks
Poos - about 2 a day, but can go a day or two without. DS1 used to poo after every feed, then suddenly go a week without pooing! they can be so different ... one a day is fine as long as they're regularly wetting and not straining.
slings - nope. just a carrier here![]()
