Babies Born ~ March 2012 #3

Hi girls,

No persies today, just checking in quickly.

We've had a rough couple of days with very little sleep and a generally unhappy baby (and Mumma).

Elocin that sucks big ones!! Addison was a very sad panda on sat and sundaycouldnt even get.her to.smile at.me on.sundau!
MuchMuch better night from her last night, but I was restless!

teeth- no sign of anything so far. ds got his first at 5 months & then got about 1 per week till he had 8 teeth :lol:. i fed him till he was 20 months & the teeth never posed a problem. he did clamp down a cpl of times before he got teeth (when they were coming) but we discouraged it quickly. bottom teeth i think shouldnt be a problem because their tongue should be over the teeth when they feed (i think).

speaking of bfing...i was thinking id love to do the course to become an aba counsellor or community volunteer. that would be great :)

Hello everyone else. Not much to report here. Good day yesterday, today not so good - starting at 3:00am with a crying, windy bub followed by a poosplosion that went all up her back and legs, so gross. She was up every 90 minutes after that and has been catnapping and snacking most of the morning, I think she might be a bit crook poor love. The weather is seriously hideous here, so am spending the day on the couch planning for DH's birthday in late June. He's a comic nut (nerd alert!) so am thinking of taking him on a comic-themed trip to Sydney: get a storage cabinet at IKEA, visit an awesome store in the city, Dark Knight Rises at IMAX and overnight stay. A little ambitious but will see how we go!

Peanutter my older girls got teeth around the 5-6 month mark (cant remember exactly :redface:) but I found it wasnt too bad I had stopped bf DD1 around that time anyway and with DD2 I found the bottom ones weren't a, when she had matching teeth top and bottom we had one biting incident I yelped and pulled her off which shocked her and she never did it again and she was bf until almost 11months. I find the clamping down with gums then pulling just as painful

Buffy ick to middle of the night poosplosions! Your trip sounds great, very busy! Its easier to do those kindof things before bubs is on the move though.

Sloane glad K is doing so well

H has slept through the last 11 nights :shhh: going down about 9.30 up around 6. Ive probably just jinxed ud now in saying that :doh: Funny as my girls have slept through from 8,9 and 10 weeks respectively lol. Skye my DH is now asking when she can sleep in her own room, I said I cant hear her so far away and he siad thats what the baby monitor is for. I can't work out his reasoning as he says having her in the room is too noisy for him so I don't see how having a baby monitor making the same noise is going to help!

Last night Helena was a bit whingey and squirmy and hadnt done a poo for two days, I thought she had wind so took the nappy off and gave her a tummy massage then DH gave her a bath, well I timed it very well with the massage as he had just finished washing her and was letting her float when she did a massive number two in the bath lol. DD1 and 2 got fresh bath water after that

Have found Helena is pulling on and off and whinging a lot when bf before bed at night. I think she has been getting overtired so have been putting her down to sleep when she starts instead of trying to persist with feeding and so far it seems to have improved things. I think she might be going through a growth spurt as she is sleeping a lot as in 3hrs straight this morning then another 1.5 this arvo and the same over the weekend.

Sara, what fabulous sleepers you have! Glad H is taking after her big sisters. It must be hard deciding whether to move her - I agree about the monitor though, we've turned ours off but we're in an apartment so hear everything - and W never fails to let us know, loudly, when she needs us! Also have the same issue about over-tiredness and breastfeeding, I'll copy your trick. Hope H's tummy is a bit better.

Cruddy day with all my hard-earned settling techniques out the window, but W finally crashed out at 8:00 so hoping she has a good few hours. Definitely not herself, a bit snotty and very windy so very little sleep and lots of crying with a few angelic smiles in between. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.

Finally typed up my birth story if anyone has a spare day or two to read it.

Why won't he sleep longer than a couple of hours?

I put him to bed at 7.30 and he woke up at 8.30 when I was getting into bed... Up for another an hour and now just 3 hours.

We will be up at least twice between now at 6am...

What am I doing wrong?? :cry:

:hug: elocin. i bet you're not doing anything wrong. i can't remember - do you co-sleep? some nights keeley wakes every 2 hours & she takes ages to resettle in the bassinet so she sleeps next to me. i feed her lying down & then neither of us have to move! being able to stay in bed at this time of year is a big bonus!

Elocin, it's not you, it's Connor! You are doing everything right - you feed him, keep him dry and clean, play with him and most importantly, love him - but you can't 'sleep' him. The most you can do is provide the environment and opportunity. He's still learning to do the next bit but he will.

This won't be forever. Remember only recently those massive overnight sleeps? They'll be back, seriously. But you need to take care of yourself and recharge in the meantime. You could co-sleep or see if a family member or friend could watch him while you rest. Get DH home if you have to!

I feel for you, trust me - it sucks. We had a shocker yesterday and I was in tears when DH got home. He gave me the exact same advice above.

Deep yoga breaths and keep doing exactly what you're doing. A very wise woman once said that to me :)

oh hun you arent doing a single thing wrong, remember that breast milk only stays in their little bellies for about an hr and a half before its fully digested, addison doesnt sleep anymoer than 3 hrs at a time either, its tough going but it wont last forever i promise xxx

With some phone support from the lovely Buffy and your words in my ear, I know I just to let it go and stop stressing. He is so happy and chilled out... I know he's tired but I also know this won't last forever.

Hi girls,

just a quick one (again) I have no idea how some of you find the time to post so often and do persies - life is so crazy with 2 lol

DS is now fully weaned onto the prescription neocate formula, still feeling majorly guilty about it esp as he doesn't seem to have improved heaps, though it can take weeks for anything that was affecting him from my milk to be out of his system.

He is giving lots of smiles now which is so cute, he is 5.6kgs, so stacking the weight on. my DD was 6kg at 6 months so not used to such a chubba bubba!!

Elocin - sending a hug xxx, I totally get you on sleep deprivation as that was my life with DD. Is she in pain when she doesn't settle? has she been checked for reflux?

We had an awesome night here last night so I'm feeling much better about everything.

Sloane, no co-sleeping here but have put the hard word on DH that once it starts getting really cold that will happen! I also need to get my rocking chair so I don't need to drag myself into the freezing cold lounge room.

Razz, nope, no pain. He is actually quite easy to settle and is a really happy kid. That's why I was so confused by it all. He rarely cries and is all smiles pretty much all day!

We are off to Byron Bay for the long weekend tomorrow... Just C, DH and I as the girls are at their mum's. I can't wait... I don't mind if it's chilly but I really hope it doesn't rain!
