Good to hear things are getting easier or everyone.
Lisaandshaun- welcome. I have a DD who is 4 and I am struggling with her. I feel her behavior is getting worse :( there is only so much time I can give her at the moment. I co sleep at night with DS as he sleeps so much better with me and I get some decent sleep as well.

Jane I'm really not sure why he won't sleep longer. Last night was 2.5 hr (while DH held him), 2 hr and 1.5 hr. I read your post and tried the double wrap prior to the 1.5 hr sleep but I think a giant poo woke him up. So will try double wrapping again today. He also only has 40 min naps during the day, occasionally doing 2 hr in his swing. So no chance for me to nap during the day (especially with a 2.5 yr old!) so it's really starting to wear me down.
He's BF on demand pretty much 3 hourly to the minute during the day and can take a good hour to 1.5 hrs to feed, though he's starting to feed faster. He's definitely getting enough milk (put on a kilo in 4.5 weeks!) and his silent reflux seems under control with medication. He did do a 5 hr sleep at night about a week ago, so I know he is capable of it.
He's currently in a bassinet but I'm thinking maybe he needs to try the cot. But we're not putting the cot in our room so that means he'd go to the nursery at the opposite end of the house and potentially wake his sister during the night as her room is nearby. But then again she may sleep through it.
He doesn't self settle - we do sleep cues of wrapping, dummy and we pat him to sleep. Usually only takes a short while and he generally spits the dummy out once asleep, so I don't think the lack of dummy in bed wakes him ITMS? Looking at starting self settling this weekend, he's had a cold for nearly two
weeks and I didn't want to start until he was better.

Sounds like you are trying a lot of different things. With the double wrap, we use a blanket like the ones they wrap the bubs up in hospital (for the second wrap and a love to dream swaddle for the first wrapping layer). The hospital blanket doesn't stretch, so allows a firm wrap. Now that it colder, I also then put another blanket over her (i.e. 3rd layer) in the bassinet and tuck it in tightly.
Other things we've tried which seemed to help are putting a wedge under the matress to raise the head end (helps with the reflux), rolling up a towel and putting it under the legs (keeps knees up in a more foetal position and helps with her tummy pains). We actually put the towel in u shape so it wraps from her waist on one side, down under her bum to keep her legs up and then back up the other side to her waist. IYKWIM. It helps her stay in the centre of the bassinet and stops her from squirming over to one side and hitting her head on the side of the bassinet.
Other than that we do sleep cues and actively help her to settle like you do. Sometimes we play music or white noise whilst settling her to sleep too. Not sure if that helps or not.
Hoping Dylan gets over his cold and starts sleeping for his mummy and daddy!!!

Jane you're a genius lol - the double wrapping seems to have helped as he's done a 4 hr stretch the last two nights. Now just to slowly build upon that, fingers crossed.
I also bought the same colic treatment to try so that could also be helping.

With colic drops i give them 4-5 times every 24 hours. At the moment it works out to be around 4, 8, 12, 4 and 8. Will occassionally give an extra dose if waking or crying with pain. But found it worked best for us to give routinely rather than waiting for signs of pain. Seems to keep the gas moving up or down rather than building up.

After waiting so long, i cant believe im finally a mum and get to celebrate this special day. I took a trip up to the fertility clinic today to introduce isla to our dr and nurses, and say thank you for our little miracle.

We are doing well, can't believe our babies are getting so big so fast!! Nyah-Rose has her first immunization a on Thursday!! Also for Mother's Day we are having a BBQ at my MILs house. Nyah-Rose is sleeping like a champ. 10.30-11.00 thru until 6-7am. Can't complain. It makes life so much easier when you have other kids to look after lol.
My youngest son turns 3 on Thursday also, he was born on Mother's Day 3 years ago. That was an awesome gift, not to ever be topped lol. We were in the newspaper and news, he was first one born at Mater Mothers hospital at 1.09am. :D
How is everyone coping with their new bubs? Anyone thinking about going again? Lol
Doing ok here. Dylan is slowly doing longer sleeps at night. Sometimes a 4-5 hr stint, but always followed by 2hr at the most. But better than a few weeks ago. I long for the time when he sleeps like Nyah-Rose does ;) hopefully it won't be too far off, but it seems maybe DD was my "good" sleeper lol.
No more bubbas for us - DH is set on two and we have one of each which is lovely. Means no more IVF too which is nice! Though we do have four embryos on ice.
At his 8 week vaccs on thursday Dylan was 5kg and 58 cm!
Hi ladies,
Addison was 2 months old on Saturday. She had her vax's last week and is now 4.3kg and 53cm long. Her growth isn't quite what they want it to be but she's still putting on weight, just not as much as she should. We are still having some feeding issues and the LC says she has a tongue tie and high palate, being rural though its hard to try and find someone who will snip it which is incredibly frustrating. She has been diagnosed with reflux but for now we are managing ok without medication. She has one big sleep for 6-7hrs at night and wakes around 3am and won't settle again after that feed which makes for a very early morning. I'm exhausted with 4 little ones to look after. She was doing one big sleep of 2-3hrs during the day but the past 2 days she hasn't slept longer than 20 minutes in a row so I think we must be in the middle of a growth spurt.

Grace is 6 weeks now, so today she had her vaccinations (it was a little sad...at least i had DH with me) I still look at her and can't believe we finally have her after the long journey!
I have a dumb question...How do you get the sleep times extended overnight? Is it something that will just happen on it's own or is there something I can do to encourage it?
Hi Sasha. Nyah-Rose just sleeps on her own. I haven't done anything to encourage her sleeping. I think babies just sleep thru when they're ready. :)

Hayden had his vaccinations today. Had to give him some panadol tonight as he had a bit of a temp but is sleeping now.
He is 6.5weeks old and already weighs 5.2kg and is 58cm long. He is growing so quickly. He is in infant nappies now and his 0000 havent fit for a while.
We have no routine at the moment. I feed on demand (but not to sleep unless its his last feed for the night) and he sleeps when and where he can. I hate waking him to get in and out of the car but has to be done when there is more than one child.
What is everyone doing for mothers day?
Kass – sound like you have a great sleeper on your hands. With so many other kids to look after too, I’m sure that’s a blessing. Re – thinking about going again – yep - I’m so very grateful for Isla – but we still have some embryos in storage so am hoping to give her a sibling one day.
Mrs P – Dylan is growing well. Well done on the longer sleeps too! Re – extra embryos – have you thought about what you will do with them yet? We have 5 on ice – and whilst we might need all 5, there is also the chance that we will only need 1 and so will be in the same position as you in terms of needing to decide what to do with them.
Courts – Its great Addison is putting on weight despite the tongue tie and feeding troubles. Any luck finding someone who will snip it? Re 20 minute cap naps – I can relate, isla has been doing the same during the day, particularly in the afternoon, when she just wants to be held – and if I try to put her down at all then well, it’s all over.
Sasha – yay for us – first time IVF mums! Thanks for asking that question re extending overnight sleeps – I’ve been wondering the same and thinking about different things to try. Reassuring to know that it is all up to bubs and they will do it when ready.
Ali – what a healthy big boy! Think isla is a similar size. Quick question – how often does Hayden demand feed during the day? Isla seems to demand it every 2 hours. Is that normal? Am I overfeeding her? Is that even possible?
AFM – Isla is now 7 weeks. All going well. Sleeps from 9 – 330 consistently but stirs around midnight, most nights will re-settle herself. Had vaccinations last week. Not as bad as I had been dreading. Next clinic appointment is next week – can’t wait to see how much isla has grown – to me, it looks and feels like stacks – so I’m very curious.

Ryan and I have discussed having another. But if we do, we won't be waiting very long as I'm 34 this year. 6 is a big number, but I love big families :)
Nyah-Rose gets her injections tomorrow, being 8 weeks old now :) am also thinking about getting her ears pierced :o but not sure. Was thinking of doing it while she will be having Panadol and so on.....
Hi Girls, Quick question - is anyone else's bub super clingy at the moment?
Isla is two months old today and likes to be held most of the day. I don't mind and am using a carrier in the afternoon - either to go for a walk or get some stuff done around the house. The tricky part is when DH gets home and I give her to him for cuddles she just screams. Even if she has just been fed, burped and is contented, she will cry when she goes to him and then will only settle when back with me. He is great with her, so it's not anything he is or isn't doing, I'm just wondering, if this is a typical developmental phase or something?
Over all I just want Isla to feel loved, safe and secure. But I also want to make sure I'm giving DH a chance to be involved and bond with her too.
Help... am I over thinking this??
Nyah can be like this with other family members. Sometimes with daddy, but she does mostly want me. The last 2 days she wants to be held all the time I've noticed. She is 9 weeks today.
So Ryan and I have decided we are going to go again. Soon lol. I'm 34 this year, and I don't want to be over 36 when we have the last one :)
Has anyone DTD yet? We haven't. But it's been a few good months since we have. At least 7 :(
Wow Kass that's exciting you are planning another so soon! No DTD here and not planning on it any time soon - I've been told by both OB and women's physio that I have a lot of scarring from the delivery (on the internal vaginal walls where some of my tears were) and that it will be "very uncomfortable". Hmmm not exactly talking it up!! Am seeing physio fortnightly to work on softening the scars, a process I am not looking forward to but I need to be proactive and get it done.
Dylan has has a couple of lovely nights where he did a long stretch of 5 or 6 hours! Last night was 4 and 4, tonight he's started with 4.5 so we shall see how the rest of the night goes. He's such a happy baby, lots of smiles and talking all the time. Only unhappy when he gets tired and when we are trying to get him to sleep. Self settling is going ok, sometimes he goes to sleep without a peep and other times there's tears :(
I've had nipple thrush for the second time and now also a suspected uterine infection (more antibiotics!). Feeling like I've really had the raw deal this time with so many post-partum issues... Mastitis, thrush three times, infection! Plus recovering from the actual birth. Lucky it's my last bub as I would be hesitant to have another.
Jane it could be a developmental thing. It's hard on Dads when bub decides they prefer Mum! I hope she settles down for Daddy soon.

Sorry I've been MIA! Stuck in loved up baby land :)
Archie is two months old! I can hardly believe it. He's such a BEAUTIFUL baby. From the beginning I've been constantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it, and how it's nowhere near as difficult as I had imagined. He sleeps well - anywhere from 4-6 hour stretches and is calm and content when he's awake.
He's put on 2kgs since birth and now weighs in at 5.5kgs. We are demand breastfeeding and I'm enjoying every minute.
DF and I are getting married in December so I'm busy wedding planning during those long stretches breastfeeding on the couch. We also just got a new car so it's all happening here!

Jane we do lots of baby/daddy bonding time that I'm not involved in. Archie and DF shower together every night, and then DF does infant massage. I always try to have him burp and Archie after a feed. We also read to him every night and DF does it more which gets Archie used to and comforted by his voice :)
Maybe he could do something that you know she likes?
Aimz - sounds like it is going beautifully for you, DF and Archie. Sounds like he is thriving. Thanks for the suggestions for DH, we don't do story time yet, but perhaps we should start. Maybe a more consistently nightly routine with a clear role for DH would help too. Will keep on persisting
So had my clinic appointment on Friday. Isla is doing well - is 58cm and 5.45kgs - so definitely thriving. Continues to sleep well at night unless congested and overall is pretty content. Does get grumbly particularly in the afternoon but no major horror stories. Am thinking I might need to try and get her down for naps more often. Maybe she is getting over tired. Hmmm, Still trying to teach her to take the bottle, so DH can feed her whilst I hit the gym. Only getting there once a week at the moment but am finding the time really helpful (dare I say even fun). Good to have some self care time.
Anyways, hope everyone is doing well. Little miss is waking up and will soon start demanding her feed loudly - hehehe.

I can't believe Grace is 9 weeks old already!! where is the time going. We have just found out that she has moderate hip dysplasia....she will have a harness fitted on Wednesday, poor little poppet. It's amazing how quickly they grow, she is 5.2kgs & 58cm long & is smiling most of the time she is awake.

The boys are 11 weeks and thriving. Still fully breastfed which seems to have settled into some pattern now.
Smiling and chase even let out a giggle the other day!
Nights can be hit and miss sometimes long sleeps sometimes hourly feeds lol.
Chase has awful reflux and ethan has mild reflux. They are both off to the chiro next week.
Otherwise we are going good.
Kass: we dtd within 2 weeks. I realky wasn't interested but gave in for dhs sake.
We arent planning anymore. Ive already been to family planning to discuss contraception lol
Mrs P: the scarring sounds awful :( hope the physio helps!
Chase has has a couple of nights like that usually in hubbies arms while I juggle ethan lol

Sorry. Yep I'm still here. How are you going?
I'm still persevering with the gym, although little miss continues to cry for most of the time I'm away. It will get better though. It has gotten a bit better each week. She continues to feed every 2 hours during the day and sleeps for only 20-45 mins at a time during the day but generally sleeps from 8pm-3.30am at night so that is pretty good. Looking forward to when she drops that early morning feed but getting up once or twice a night is ok. Isla is generally content, although I'd describe her as strong willed, she has clear ideas about what she wants and communicates it clearly. She has different sounding cries depending on what she wants and when I get it wrong she just screams louder and longer until I finally cotton on. As for DTD, we did a week or so ago for the first time. I must say it really hurt. Not sure if I'm still not 100% healed or if the pain is from the scaring? I did have pretty bad tears so I guess I was expecting it to take some time.
Bellany - how did the chiro go?

Chiro was great! Babies have stopped crying in the car so that's a massive win!
bellany - The Facebook group was started in the March due date thread :) way in the early days lol. It's just easier as we can post pics and links and so on :)

Great to hear the chiro went well Bellany.
Grace will be in her harness for 6 weeks initially, possibly 12 weeks max. We survived a week & I think we are now both used to it being there.

Quick update - Dylan is doing well and growing nicely. He's 13 weeks now and on Wednesdays weight check was 5.65kg (up 630gm in a month) and 60.5cm (up 2.5). He's super happy and smiley, which is adorable and lucky for him (kidding) as he's still a poor sleeper. Has gone downhill from the last time i posted nearly a month ago. At night he won't go down until 930/10 and will do 3 maybe 4 hours, after which its a 2 hr then a 1hr stint. That's it. Days he does 45 min naps but occasionally throws in a 2 hr nap every week or two.
His reflux has progressed to puke mode now so I'm always expecting vomit at any moment ha ha.
Anyway will try to get onto the computer soon and catch up with you on FB - we have one for the Feb BB group and we love it!
