Doodlebug: Logan is such a gorgeous little boy. And doing really well too :) Yay to 5 kgs. I really need to do something about dropping a few (well more than a few:rolleyes:) too.
Ellie: Oh my goodness, that must've been terrifying! So glad to hear you were able to see your doctor quickly and it's all sorted now. Fingers crossed Miss T is on the mend. Poor little thing.

Hi to everyone I've missed (sorry my lunch/express break is almost over...)
AFM: Deacon is doing really well. Nearly walking (cruising well) and standing on his own without holding on for longer spurts. He is such a little chatterbox. His latest is nanananananana. He doesn't have a Nana so we think he might've picked it up from one of the kids at daycare. Every now and then is sounds like ningningning (like a motorbike sound) and is so adorable.
He is a little terror when it comes to changing nappy/clothes, bathing or anything that requires him to stay put for longer than 2 seconds :wall:
He is still loving daycare, although we had our first and only (so far) cry when I went to leave about a week ago. The carer came over with a toy and he was fine. He loves his toys, especially noisy ones or trucks/cars.
We too are stuck on ideas for his birthday. We don't have much in the way of places to shop at (Big W, Kmart & Target and that's it) so we are thinking about hitting the net for ideas. We are having a BBQ lunch with a bunch of our family and friends. A good excuse for a shindig we reckon ;)
Anyway, I'd better get back to work before my boss realises that he can no longer hear my pump going and it's just me typing..... :shhh:

I've been flat stick at work, and have suddenly realised that I haven't even started emoptionally preparing for my two trips coming up away from Joshua :o
the first is this weekend - two days in Qld, and then the next is 10 days in Hong Kong.
any tips? who has been apart from their bubba for more than a few hours? I think the longest I have been as been about 18 hours when I've had a really long day at work.
or those here your DH/DP has been away from bubba for a while?
any tips would be appreciated. :(

I've not been apart from DS for any longer than a working day (9-10 hours) so I'm not sure what advice to give. DS & I went to QLD for a holiday for a week without DH last November and we kept in touch with Skype, which was good coz DS was able to see DH on the screen and listen to him talking. It didn't take him too long to figure out what was going on and was babbling to DH. DH said doing this helped him from missing DS too much.
Other than that just lots of cuddles would be my best advice.... Sorry I'm not much more help :redface:
Giggle is right peanutter, skype is the way to do it. When dh had to go to France, china etc when d was first born that is how he got to see her. It's more for max's benefit though as he is more aware of time and misses his dad greatly when he us away.
PETA, how clever us Alyssa!!! Darcie has started standing on her own, put puts her arms up too as if to say 'look at meeeee' so cute!

Peanutter skype sounds like a great option if you can hook it up. You could bring lots of photo's with you & even talk to Josh on the phone. Alyssa loves to "talk" on the phone to her Nanma & Daddy. I don't have too many suggestions but boy it's going to be a hard couple of trips for you!

Not much to report here. Daycare are annoying me & I think I'm probably one of their "nightmare" parents. Alyssa had about 15 nappies there on friday when i left & then on wednesday when I got there there was one! Thank god I had about 5 in the car to get through the day. They swear no one else has used them, but how else do they disappear?! Also, I have asked them a million times to make sure Alyssa has her 2 bottles per day but they seem to only give her one every day. Annoys me as then I get starving sleepy Alyssa. Oh well, what can you do....
Oops just answered the phone to MIL & didn't recognise her voice so said "who's calling" when she asked to speak to DH. I'm sure she was crying or upset though, but I know I'll be the worst one in the world now. Not that that is anything new.
Alrighty well have a great night & tommorrow arvo is the weekend! xo

peta - boo to smelly MILs getting aggro at you! I say throw plums at her, since you are fabulous, and she should be grateful to have you in her life. Boo also to disappearing nappies, and not enough food?!? That sounds ridiculous, not sure what you're paying them for if they're not actually giving bubba enough food ... ?
must away to bed ... have taken tomorrow off, as will be at conference on Sunday, so am taking Joshua to the pool and to the park for some exercise (hopefully he'll either enjoy the pram ride and looking around and "chatting" with me, or will fall asleep!) and also have to go to the shops to buy a couple of pieces of clothing which meet the dress code for the conference.
it's "smart casual" which apparently in business world is in a weird niche between work clothes and casual clothes. sigh. can't really afford it, but no one will be impressed if I'm not meeting the dress code, and as a client is hosting the conference (and work is paying for it and the flights and accommodation) I need to impress ... so will be shopping for a smart casual jacket (as neither my suit jacket nor my hoodie is right!) and possibly some slacks (as my only trousers are suit pants, jeans and trackies!). I've got tops which would work as smart casual, as long as they match the pants ... and I've got bathers and gym clothes and a dress for the dinner ... so I think I'm otherwise right!
And if I can't find some pants that are right, I'll just wear my black suit pants.
And if I can't find a smart casual jacket, I'll ... go naked ... ?
Anyway, I'm sure I'll be able to find something.

Hope you found some suitable clothes Peanutter! It has been nice & toasty here in Qld the last few days. Was still 30 when I was coming home around 4pm today. Though it is meant to rain all weekend apparently so that's probably why its been so steamy. In Qld smart casual must have a different conotation to down there - it basically means forget your pluggers!! Ha! I swear southeners must cringe at our work dresscodes. Eg, at my work we wear jeans & polo shirts every friday & we're accountants. We also never wear ties or suits & sandals are more than acceptable for the girls (the boys too I guess if they so desired). Yeah, a bit disillusioned about daycare, but maybe its just that my expectations are too high. Alyssa came home with the biggest grin today & a ton of energy though so she obviously had a great day. She really loves one of the carers who was on today, so I think that makes a difference.

I must say, while hunting high and low for a nice semi casual jacket and failing miserably, I did decide that I really won't need one in Qld this weekend, and so I gave up.
I found a nice 3/4 smart casual top and some black pants, so I will be fine, thanks :)
I don't actually own pluggers, so that will be fine too :)
I'll wear ballet flats, and take some heels.
Last week when I had to go to a mediation in Brisbane, they dressed the same as us (it was at Hopgood Ganim) but a colleague went to a conference in Brisnbane a while ago, and he said they were mostly in shorts or cargo pants and polo shirts, with boat shoes or similar ... but there were basically no women ... so I'm figuring neat black pants and a neat top will do. And a simple dress for the dinner.
Anyway, I should probably go to bed ... have to pack tomorrow, and get all my Joshua cuddles for the next 3 days!!
And download whatever I need for skype ...

Nutter: How did your trip to QLD go?? Skype is quite easy, it pretty much installs itself. Hope you were able to get it to work for you. One of the things I like about working in a small law firm is we don't have the same pressure put on us to dress imaculately as the bigger ones in town do. I go to work in black pants and a niceish top most days.
Peta: Boo to MIL. I do that all the time with my SIL. I get her confused with one of my friends as they sound soooo similar. That's not very good for daycare. I'd definately say something if I was you. I don't take too much notice of DS's nappies coz I just take in a box and they let me know when he starts to run low.

AFM: Poor little Deacon has his first tummy bug :sick: I had to pick him up just after lunch on Thursday, home all day Friday and had to pick him up again at lunch time today. We thought he was better this morning coz he gobbled his breakfast and dinner last night and his poops were more solid. Poor lil munchkin. He has been such a koala too. When you pick him up he snuggles in for a cuddle and last night when we were sitting on the lounge he crawled over to DH and crawled up and put his arms around him in a big hug and snuggled into his shoulder. I'm so glad I left some sick days up my sleeve for when I went back to work.
Well I might go and try to get a few chores done before Deacon wakes up.

am back from trip #2 ... it was hard, but I was so busy I only had a few really down moments :)
J-man didn't seem to notice this time, but apparently he spent a fair whack of Monday saying "mum mum mum" - but he'll say it to me, DH, or a cabbage with equal conviction, so not sure if he was actually looking for me ;)
the next one is so longer!! but I know some people over there, so should be able to get hoocked up on skype reasonably easily :)
BBs weren't an issue as milk has basically dried up - I tried to feed DS this morning, and he gave up after about 30 seconds on the good BB, and 4 or 5 sucks on the other side ... but I have my stinky teas awaiting my return from Hongkers, and I will see what advice Barb can give me about relactating :D
leaving again on the 31st ... and I have a wedding, and about 4 client lunches before then, and a LOT of deadlines ... and have to finish two articles, and a web bulletin *sigh* :doh:

Hi Ladies
Just a quick one - how long between points of tooth showing & tooth coming through proper? we have had fevers & no sleep since Saturday night. Oh the fun!! Alyssa also has a terrible cough, fevers since Saturday night, lots of snot (yellow to clear) and apparently no congestion on lungs or chest. The Dr has said just to give panadol every six hours if she is over 37.4. Very little sleep going on here at the moment. Not having too much fun.
I also have a sore throat & nearly feinted 3 times yesterday which then sparked a visit to my cardiologist in brissie today & now I have a monitor fitted for 24hrs & have to go back to brissie tommorrow morning to have it taken off. Also have had spotting for the last 3 weeks so getting a scan to see what's going on there Thursday.
When it rains it pours!! Have a great day xo
Peta - DD just had her 8th tooth (I wish they would stop!!) come through last night. The point is out and she has been a little miserable for about 3 days prior. She tends to settle down once that point breaks through. I would think by after the weekend we will see more of that tooth out of the gum. Hope you are feeling better & have been able to get some sleep.

Sorry, been MIA for a while but still reading.
Going through family hell right now. Long story short, dad collapsed on Fri night and hit his head, they took him to hospital where they scanned his head and found abnormalities. Turns out he has cancer in his lung, 2 tumors in his brain, in his adrenal gland and his lymph nodes. Needless to say the last few days haven't been the best. He's out of hospital now (Tuesday night), but we have a family meeting with the dr's tomorrow to get the official diagnosis, find out exactly what cancer it is and treatment options. We've already been told by the Consultant and Registrar to prepare ourselves that we're going to be looking at months not years for a time frame for him. Life is pretty much down the toilet at the moment!
Anyway, no mention on fb please, there are a LOT of people they don't want told until they know all the info.
Logan is now weaned, unfortunately I had to be at the hossy early in the am (picking up mum and sister on the way) for the past few days or so and his final morning boob has finished :( Still, he's handling it really well.
God only knows how I'm going to tell our eldest. James is 5 1/2 and a very sensitive little guy. I've gotten a book from his school chaplain and have been in touch with the school psych where I work.
Sorry for the bummed out news, better go, bedtime for the kids calls.

wow, doodlebug - so much to take in ... I'm so incredibly sorry for what you are going through - while I wouldn't presume to know what you're feeling, I do know what it's like to have the rug completely ripped out from underneath you, and going from a scan because of a fall, to a diagnosis of cancer and an unfavourbale prognosis in a very short window. It's devestating, and there is so much involved in protecting, comforting and loving the person who is ill, as well as those others close to you, who you may feel as being more vulnerable than yourself ... and the fall out can be incredible. and the entire situation can be terrifying and surreal and so many other things, all at the same time.
you are going to do an amazing job supporting your dad, your family and your kids - but please please please let others support and care for you, too. you can't be wonderwoman right now, and even though you don't have cancer, this is happening to you too and there are people who can (and should) catch and comfort and do things for you, too.
I really pray that there is some good news, and some treatment options available, and that your dad is ok and is not in pain.
but sending you lots of prayers and love and hugs :hug:

Yules - boo ... hope it's all fixed super quick with minimal fuss ... we can hope? And re words, DS has said "mum" now, while looking specifically at me, so we're counting it as his first word :D :happydance: there's lots of "bahbahbah" and "mah" (milk, we think) but we don't count them as talking until they seem to be intentional and situation appropriate ... we're mean ...
now I'm being lazy and re-posting my question from another thread ... I need help!
Ok, DS is now 10 months old, and for the last few months, basically every single morning when I or DH goes to get him up in the morning, he cries.
Whether he is woken by us or he wakes up by himself in his cot, he cries. And he doesn't stop when you pick him up, bounce him around, sing to him, etc. He will stop if you feed him, or sometimes after playing for a while, or driving in the car for a few minutes (to take me to the station).
Is this normal?
How do I help?
I just hate to think that he starts each day miserable! (though frankly, some mornings when my alarm goes off I feel like crying too :P)

Yep, Aly is mostly better. Still has medicine 3 times a day for the bronchitis, but her teeth (& Fevers) seem to have stopped bugging her for now. We're off work/daycare till Thursday at which time we stop medicine & the Dr says she should be all better. Lucky I am able to work from here as I just go & collect some files & login. So, I'm not too far behind in work. I just wish Aly's teeth would come through proper. There's two in the bottom just off right to centre & they are peeking through the gum but not yet out.
Nutter what a funny situation. I wonder if Joshie is just not a morning person?! I can't say I've had your problem with Aly but if I did I reckon I would do everything you are doing. Maybe he wakes up with a pain in his belly & needs to poo? Aly usually poo's as she wakes up & then that's usually it for the day for poo's.
Not much else happening here. DH on night shift plus days at the moment so mega cranky, though the money will be brilliant next fortnight! Hard to keep Aly quiet in the mornings so he can sleep as she gets up & just wants to play & talk. Oh yeah, talking, Aly says Mum & Da. Now DH thought she was saying Dad when she first said this, but I think she is actually calling one of our dogs Jada. She always looks at Jada when she says it. She says a different Da for Daddy & looks at him when she says that. She certainly knows words, eg bottle & play, but only says those few at the minute.
Ok, well best go have a shower & finish these bottles. xo
Nutter I have a feeling this house issue is going to be a bit if a drawn-out process, mum will be here on the weekend though so I'll have someone to help me cope with it all better. Dh is still away.... Will be in hong kong too!!! You might even pass him in the street! But I'm dealing with both kids pretty easily at the moment. All you need is a bit if rhythm and consistency and it all falls into place.
Hope you go well in hk and your dh and Josh do well on their own for a bit. Is everything sorted with your dh now and household stuff?
As for the crying, I'm sure it's normal, for Joshua! What kind of cry is it? Grizzle or the inconsolable spit acid in your face kind of cry? It almost just sounds like it's part of his routine, wake up from sleep = cry till I get something!
Peta, glad to hear aly is feeling better. Her teeth won't take long to grow up, especially once the whole tip is out. Is she cross cutting? As in, not coming through in the 'regular' order? Darcie has 3 teeth now, two bottom middle and one top one.... Which she now likes to grind together, yuck!
She is standing too.... I saw the pic on fb of alt standing and helping you with the dishwasher! Isn't it scary! It's going to be their birthdays soon!

crying: it's a whingey cry. I tried singing interactive nursery rhymes with him on my lap this morning, and in 5-10 minutes he was calm, and then we did bottle, so maybe if he's expecting a little mum time first, that will work ... will see!
household: improvment, but still so far to go ... we had another really big vent last night, and I've put my foot down about a few things, including that DH is to choose and commit to one or more weekly activities that he will take joshua to EVERY WEEK (that it's on!) and I don't care whether it's the local playgroup or the dad's one in the northern suburbs or the church one or tumble tots or mainly music, but he is to take Joshua to one where he gets to play with other babies every week. And a few other things, aimed at getting DH out of the house and interacting with others. So we'll see how that goes, too!
And I think Joshua is teething ... mild fever (38.2) lots of clear mucus, lots of drool ... he didn't want me to have a look so I didn't press it, but how awesome would it be if I come home to teeth!! Might be rough on DH if Josh's sleep is interrupted by it, and he's flying solo though ... will see what we can get in place so he has some help :)

Yules I think Aly must be cross-teething if that's what its called. Does that mean I'm going to have more "fun" than regular teething? Oh I hope so, the last few weeks have been brilliant (NOT!!!).
Peanutter that will be awesome for the boys to go and do an activity each week. I am looking at getting Aly into a playgroup up here on a tuesday. She has swimming monday, daycare wednesday - friday so thought playgroup might be good the tuesday. I tried to join on their website but it wouldn't let me. will have to try again. You guys seem to work through everything together, DH & I do to a certain point but alot of the time he just does what I say.........and why am i complaining about that?!
Not much going on here. Should get back to the office on Friday. Aly is 99% better. I'm still sick, but I've already missed too much work (well probably only seems that way since I'm only meant to be there 3 days a week now) so will be going back on Friday. Have done a fair bit from here but can't login properly again tonight. Really annoys me. Ok, well chocolate & tv are calling my name so I will speak to you later. xo

Nutter - with the crying, my ds1 went through a phase like that, it lasted a month or so I think. He went from waking very happily and burbling away in his cot to one day waking up crying and nothing other than food/bottle would help it. Looking back I think he was having a growth spurt and was just absolutely starving when he woke, maybe try increase the meals a little during the day and really fill him up before his nighttime sleep?
The activities with dad sound like a good idea as well! Gives them something regular to do together that gets both of them out of the house!
Yules - moving sucks! But yay for your mum! At least when you get back into this place, you should be settled there for a while right?
Peta - glad Aly is doing heaps better, it's just horrible when they're sick.
AFM - Logan is good, he's so full on it's not funny! He's into EVERYTHING!!! All the stuff he's not supposed to be, I swear my ds1 was NOT like this! But still, he's so cute and cheeky with it you just have to laugh at him! Still only the 1 tooth at the front, he looks so funny grinning at me with 1 bottom tooth! Doesn't stop him chowing down on whatever passes his way though!
Dad - we've found out he has 'non small cell adenocarcenoma of the lung', and it's at stage 4. Bascially it's spread, it's terminal and from this stage they pretty much will do pallative care and treat the symptoms rather than try cure because they can't cure it. He's now seen a neurosurgeon who thinks operating on the brain is an option, providing the mri on Friday shows only 1 tumor in there. This is the main one that's causing the symptoms coz it's pushing on the part of the brain that controls speech, balance, comprehension etc...
Dad is in good spirits, although he's gone back to work (with mum driving him coz he's not allowed to drive), he's being a total pig to mum at times, but that's just scared I think. He's always been a very strong, old school man and to know that something is happening in his brain that he can't control would scare the life out of him. Unfortunately these things are usually taken out on those closest to us and in this case it's mum.
Mum is coming over this morning to pick up Logan for a few hours to take him back to their place to hang out with 'Nanna and Grandad' while I have some time to myself to re-charge. I have fallen into the role of information gatherer, appt setter, chief driver and am the primary contact for all hospital / dr / specialist details. I'm exhausted at the moment. Hubby has been fantastic looking after the kids and keeping the house going but I need some time to myself to get stuff in order around here and have a bit of a relax before I go back to work tomorrow and the next round of appts / tests take place next week.
Thanks for checking on me girls, still no mention of this on fb. We have probs with my nanna (dads mum) having the beginnings of altzhiemus (I can never spell that word), and dads sister being a money hungry bottom feeding scum sucker. Dad is executer to nanna and holds power of attourney so until he can speak to a lawyer and get that changed we're trying to keep it from the Fat Cow, especially as this is in his brain, she'd probably jump at the chance to get her hands on more of nannas money. She's already gotten around 40,000 in the past 12 months!!!! It's not like dad is trying to keep it for himself, he just wants to make sure there's enough there so when the time comes for nanna to go into a nursing home she can go to the one she chooses without money being an issue and not having to sell her family home. She's adament she doesn't want anything to happen with her house until she has passed away. Unfortunately Fat Cow just sees that Nanna has money and doesn't understand why she doesn't give it all to her!!!!! Families are complicated!

Hope you enjoyed your "self" time this morning and your Mum & Dad enjoyed having Logan. It would be a load off your Mum's mind to know that you are looking after all the appointment / doctor stuff & she can focus on your Dad. Fingers crossed your Dad's MRI goes well and they can operate on his brain. Keep us in the loop & remember we're all here for you.

Hi girls.
I know i have been mia for a while. I have had allot going on for me on a personal level (quite bad depression and stuff going on) and i have been having some time out.
Miss J is a nightmare child and miss s isn't that much better atm. They have been at my parents house this week because if i didn't have a break, things may have gotten very ugly.
Miss s is def. our climber child. She tries to climb the cot, the lounges and does a good job at climbing the baskets of washing too. She's just cut her 4th tooth and shes wearing her 2.5 year old sisters clothes and fits them no problems. She is really tall i think.
Other than that, not too much else to report. I have just opened a business making things for prince and princess - squagys (taggies), fairy dancing skirts, hair clips and library/swimming bags. so have been busy doing that too.
I have missed so much that i'd be here forever doing personals so i'm just going to say i hope everyone is looking after themselves and big squishy :hugs: to all.
I'm still around...just.... so if i'm not back in for a while i apologise. at the moment i'm just really doing what i can to get through each day. Love to everyone. xxx

On the positive at least you have Miss J's clothes there to use & don't have to keep buying more stuff. I really feel for you & wish I was closer to help you out. I am forever MIA...just my crazy world I'm sorry...depression is ok...I think...Miss T is still waking a few times a night but meds for the silent reflux have calmed things for her and the pain seems to have stopped. Other than that it's just getting through the day!

Yes we have been a bit slack on here haven't we (though not so much elsewhere). What's happening ladies? Are you all planning birthday parties for our little monkies? We are having a very simple sausage sizzle & cake for Alyssa. Just a good chance to catch up with friends & have a drink really! More time off work. Of course another tooth has equalled another virus. This time inflamed red throat (which the doctor assures me is not yet tonsilitis). I feel so badly like I'm failing at this juggling act that is work & home. Today I have been resigning & not resigning so many times its crazy. If only money didn't make the world go round the decision would be easy.

it's hard, isn't it ... but you're doing a top job, juggling all those different parts, and Alyssa isn't sick because you're working :hug: you're awesome :D
we're not having a party, just a family lunch with my folks, and possibly one with DH's folks too ... but nothing else, as he's not going to remember it, and we can't afford it. I will be taking some time off in May, however, and so will be able to go to playgroup the week that we're doing a KK for baby birthday prezzies, which will be fun!
at my end, Joshua has been doing poo explosions for 4 days now!! we took him to the Dr for his cold on Saturday, just to make sure that it's not an ear infection or anything, and his temp and all signs are fine, so we thought it must jjust be teething and a mild cold ... then the poo started! It's insane. I unzipped his sleeping bag Sunday morning, and there was poo from right down at the very bottom, all the way up to his armpits!

anyway, what with him, and then DH being violently ill (had to take *him* to the Drs for a jab of Maxalon, and then some Maxalon pills too) and I've had a respitory tract infection, but the antibiotics are mild and working well ... then I got the trots too, so have armed myself with Gastrostop, but have had to keep at work, because I've got trials etc coming, and really, REALLY can't take any time off right now.
But I'm :pray: that all the poo with Joshua is teething ... his bottom two are bulging, so our little toothless monster may be about to errupt his first two fangs!!

OMG Nutter!! You guys do not sound like you're having fun at all. I know there are tummy bugs going round up here at the moment, so I would be thinking its more something like that. Especially with Hubby down too & you as well by the sounds of it.
I have found that nurofen works a charm for teeth in the last week. it helps with swelling. not sure what impact it will have on poo situation. also the good old bonjella & just let joshie chew on whatever he wants. Alyssa's second tooth happened much easier than the first with her only having a fever for 2 days this time instead of 5. that said she is now sick again. i read something yesterday that when they teeth it is like a "Germ Highway" opening. Yee hoo! not.

Hoping everyone had a wonderful first easter with their little monkies. Alyssa got spoilt rotten. There is so much chocolate in our Fridge. Surprisingly I'm having a "no chocolate" type mood. Hmmm, whats the go with that?!

We had a great Easter, both boys got very spoilt and there's enough choc in the fridge to last until Christmas!
We're off camping tomorrow! WooopWooop!!!!! Can't wait! Going to be a bit cold but who cares! No home phone, no internet (apart from on my phone that I don't really know how to work anyway! :) ) Fingers crossed Logan sleeps! So far we haven't managed to put him down for a sleep if there's ever been any sort of a party going on, New Years he lasted until after 11pm without a nap! God help us getting him to sleep in a port-a-cot, in the tent tomorrow night! Oh well, it's only for 5 nights so not forever, and there are 6 families all going so that will be good!
