Farmgirl - try not to feel bad about your DS. I'm sure it will pass & I agree with Porsche that he is probably loving his time with dad.
Porsche - I didn't know you could donate BM either...don't suppose anyone knows how you would do it? I think I am expressing about 50ml per feed (just so poor Henry doesn't choke) and it's going down the sink ATM - don't have the proper bottles or bags to freeze it.
Dragonbub - I have been avoiding coffee now that I'm BF, although I did drink coffee throughout the pg (only 1 per day) without any issues.
Went for our 4 week visit to the MCHN today. Henry has put on a whopping 700g in the last fortnight & nearly weighs in at 4kg. I'm guessing the BF is going OK LOL ;).
He has a little patch of cradle crap on his forehead between his eyebrows that looks like it would be itchy & we are using olive oil to try and loosen it up. Other than his refusal to burp despite our best efforts - he has no problems at all. We have even been getting a 5 hour sleep out of him overnight most nights which is lovely.

lleytons gaining weight really well approx 160g every 3 days as thats how often they get weighed atm due to being so small and jackson apparently gained nothing :( but i am confused on that the MCHN used 2 sets of scales for him first showed a 200g loss the 2nd showed no loss and no gain so hoping by friday hes stacked some weight on otherwise they will want to hospitalise him again which i dont think i could cope with.

Thanks ladies for your support. As the baby blues start to disappear, I'm coping much better with Noah and Amelia at the same time. Amelia has even settled in the car for me, which is such a relief as I was afraid to go out on my own because all she would do is scream once the seat belt was on. This even made picking Noah up from daycare difficult.
Mrs S - A second opinion on Jackson's weight gain can't go astray. My doctor got all upset saying Amelia hadn't put on weight in a week, but I had my midwife check her again and she had put on over 100grams. The weighing machine at the doctors was not an electric one, and they weighed her with her clothes on and made an assumption as to what to subtract. The midwife used an electronic scale and we weighed her naked. f you are breastfeeding, maybe you could try feeding Jackson from the same side as his brother after he has had a feed so Jackson fills up on the fat rich hind milk instead of the watery foremilk. Then swap him over to the other side if he is still wanting more.

Porsche - wow we had our bus on the same day!
Farmgirl - it might take some time for her to settle down a bit. My paed with Caden told me they drink the equivalent of us drinking 20L of milk a day. So they are pretty much full or hungry, digestig anp pooping. If its not reflux she could just be a little bit sensitive.
MrsS - hoping your lil guy puts on enough weight and you avoid the hospital again babe.
FYI - here in WA we can donate bm to PMH for the premmies. I don't know much more about other than a lady I worked with did it.
AFm - TYPING WITH ONE HAND ATM AS River is asleep in my arms so sorry for typos :) He still hates the car and like Amelia Faemgirl he just screams blue murder! Very hard to drive so sometimes I pull over but doing the arvo dc run is too hard :( I hope he grows out of it soon. He sleeps s much too but mainly in my arms. If i give him to someone else he cries and i am the only one who can get him to sleep. Even DH struggles which gives me about 10 mins a day to have a shower with DS#1 and really no 1on1 time with him. I hear ya on te guilt but i just swalow that. there is no way on 6 hours of broken sleep can i do it all :( I know we are approaching the magical 6 week mark and i hate wishing his life away but it will be good whe things settle down and we can get out more.
Oh well they are blesed monkeys thats for sure and i dont seem to make easy babies LOL

Hi all,
Had Phoebe weighed on Tuesday and she has put on nearly a kilo since birth. I guess I can stop worrying about my supply lol. She has grown 4cm as well. Now she just has to change her sleep pattern. She likes to sleep all day and stay awake at night. I'm struggling to get about 4 hours sleep a day. Sometimes DF will let me sleep in the afternoons when he comes home from work but some days I just have to struggle through. It's really hard when I have 2 other little ones home for part of the week. I'm also struggling to get much housework done but I have organised with a friend for her to come over and help me once a week and I will pay her. A win/win situation :)
Sorry no persies as I'm holding Phoebe and it is hard to type one handed

finally managed to be able to log back in..... i can never remember the damn password lol
Chloe Marie arrived on 12th may ( 9 days late ) ended up being induced but only had the drip in for about an hour as chloe didnt like it. 6.5 hours stage 1 and 45 mins pushing. we are going really well. Have all my energy back now so hopefully means i will update a bit more often in here :)

Hey Bern! Was wondering where you had gone. I still mean to write my birth story but in short I had 10 min cx all Thursday perfectly timed and by the evening they were really quite strong but manageable. I couldnt sleep though so phoned hosp and they said to come in to be checked. In we went at midnight and I was3-5cm with waters bulging. MW said she preferred if I stayed and within 15 mins my waters broke while I was on the loo :). Things ramped up and within an hour with 10 mins of pushing, River arrived earthside. No tearing, no drugs, no vacuum!!
Now I am stuck typing one handed with a koala baby who doesnt like me letting him go :rolleyes:
How is everyone coping? Thyecrying is ramping up now and the sleep deprivation setting in but I wouldn't trade it for all the world. I felt so sad the first few days esp when baby blues kicked in that this is my last bub,pregnancy and birth :(. I am a bit better now but still feel a bit of grief that I will never experience this magical journey again. I am just so thankful I have been blessed with two beautiful boys.

yeah for no tearing dragonbub :) i had an episotomy (sp?) with DD1 and it tore again with DD2.... but ive healed ok so far....
we are having a little trouble with Chloe getting her wind up, mind you she got no trouble with it coming out of her butt lol
makes for a whingy time sometimes, like the last 2 hours, i can tell she is tired but as soon as i put her down she cries again, or its DD1 trying to "help" eg. Chloes mitten had fallen of while she was asleep in bouncer so Tianna tried to put it bacck on her ( even though i told her not to worry about it) i know she just trying to be helpful but gee whizz. My DH has been away from home for the last week, and i am coping ok, but gee i dont know how mums ( or dads ) can do it on there own with a newborn and a toddler. Hmmm Tianna is 5 yrs old, is that still a toddler? LOL
Hope your all not too sleep deprived, and enjoying some squishy cuddles <3

MrsS - I hope your little one puts on some weight. L only put on 60gms two weeks ago and I was instructed to feed her my EBM after she had finished feeding on the boob. Apparently she should be having around 120 - 135mls each feed. Are you expressing at all? Also I was instructed to have 3-4 hospital sustagens a day to help increase my supply along with the pumping and to keep going with my multi vitamin. So far all that has worked and she put on 270gm the week after. Is Jackson settling after feeds? Maybe he isn't getting enough? My details for the list are Lilly born 6/5
Dragonbub - Yes our bubs share the same birthday you just pipped me to the post lol.
Haha to you all typing one handed. I have so far escaped that scenario. To all who are having problems getting bubs to burp maybe try Infacol drops? I used those when my first was a bub as I had terrible trouble getting his wind up.

ive been told to try some chamomile (sp?) tea, cool it and bottle feed a little to bub, supposed to be natural relax and good for wind.

Still typing one handed LOL. Any second time mums have experience with reflux? My lil guy has some signs but not others and i am not sure when it really kicks in age-wise?

dragonbub - i dont have any experience with it but i was googling it the other day for a cousin and it said it helps to have bubs mattress elevated on an angle, about 30degree angle i think i read.

Thx Bern. He pretty much sleeps on me all day so is definitely elevated! I don't think he has it. He doesn't spew that often, he feeds ok only he is off and on a bit. No back arching just fast flow maybe? He doesn't display usual pain body language like clenched fists but boy does he scream! When he really gets going he runs out of breath and the poor little thing gets so scared and worked up.
I just hate it and wish there was somethung I could do :( I wouldn't feel so bad if I knew it was just the witching hour, at least we get through it but to think he could be in pain and I could do something about it? Oh well...

Thought I would jump into this thread seeing as I have a spare moment.

Life has been pretty hectic with 2 newborns and a toddler, add that to the fact that Liam has an issue with his right kidney - lots of dr's appt's coming up - both boys have also been to a pead chiro due to both being a bit colicky. It turns our Liam's spine is out of alignment and Rhys had one of his skull bones slip so was pinching a nerve in his neck, so both boys have weekly chiro appt's until everything is sorted out, and then add to that Liam is also a very chucky baby as well so we have started to add thickener to his bottles to try and keep his feeds down. So this means life is very crazy for us but luckily DH still has another 2 weeks off work so fingers crossed we will have a lot of our issues sorted before he goes back to work. On a positive note however, we did manage to get 7 hours sleep last night which was much needed as I've been running on about 4 hours sleep to date.
Apart from that I am also feeling very guilty about how little time I'm spending with DD and feel bad that I'm using ABC Kids and DVD's to amuse her during the day. I'm looking forward to the time when the boys are in a regular routine so that I can spend some quality time with DD, although everyone keeps telling me she is too young to even notice or remember but I really feel I need to spend some one on one time with her as well.
Hopefully I'll get to know you all and your bub's and share our experiences together, even though it wasn't that long ago I had a baby (DD) it is so different this time around - with having 2 and boys as well, I've never had so much washing from pee and poop leakage lol.

Farmgirl - you get the sustagen from Priceline Pharmacy and chemists. We always have the "sports sustagen" here in the house because DH drinks it daily. Basically you need lots of protein so anything that is high in protein is great for BF'ing. Sustagen is just the nicest way of getting it lol. It's like having a cocolate milk shake everyday. You can get it in vanilla as well.
Dragonbub - maybe have a look at "the baby wedge" for reflux. It's a foam wedge that just sits in the bassinette or cot and it has velcro bolsters i guess you'd call them on either side of bub and it's supposed to help with reflux. We have one for L even though she doesn't have reflux as it helps for prevent flat head and great for tummy time etc.. not cheap though.
KellyD - Gosh you have a busy schedual lol. Good luck at the chiro. I'm sure it will all be sorted quickly.
AFM I am fast learning not to leave the house at all as L doesn't feed properly and doesn't sleep and I'll also pay for it tomorrow with her crying and not sleeping all day. I'll become a hermit lol.

Dragonbub - DD3 had silent reflux and they don't actually throw up, she also had colic :( We had to take her to the dr and he told us what to get for her. We did have to keep her upright for 1/2 hr after feeding and elevate her bed. If you are still worried see your dr and see what they say.
Congrats again Kelly on your boys safe arrival. You do indeed have a busy house :)
Porsche - :hug: hun. I have had a bubs like L and know how hard it can be. You still need to get out so maybe just a walk with her in the pram to start with. Don't isolate yourself, that's the worst thing you can do. No hermit behaviour lol.
Well Phoebe is going well. Having a lot more awake time which is good. She is holding her head up and looking around heaps and having tummy time is strengthening her neck as well. She is growing lots and I want her to slow down as she is my last and I want to savour the baby stage iykwim.
I have my 6 week checkup next week :o but the only issue I have is that my blood pressure is going up again :( I'm sure the dr will put me back on my bp pills. I have to go and do my followup GTT test as well. Fingers crossed that THAT comes back ok. Is anyone else finding that the weight is falling off?? I am already fitting back into my size 12 jeans (skiting much lol) but I'm also finding that I'm eating heaps more as I'm so hungry. I will admit that I'm eating some crap food though so will have to watch that. I'm also finding that my hair is just yucky. I am going to get a hair cut on Wednesday but it is so dry and feels like straw. I'm thinking of getting a treatment done and a colour to lighten it up.

Well after a restless night and day, I finally gave in and sterilised a dummy today. I feel disappointed because I really wanted to avoid using them, but DH and I tried everything else and I cant cuddle him like a koala 24/7. He's 5 weeks today so I am hoping there won't be any nipple confusion, hopefully he'll only suck on it for a little and then fall asleep.
