Congratulations Katie on the birth of Zoe!!!
MP - well done on the weight loss!! Does that mean I will have to eat a muffin all by myself next weekend?? We aim for travelling over nap time, have a big bag of toys and books next to the seat and lately, K has been really into bandaids, so we give her some of them and she puts them on herself! Also snacks that take a while to eat, like the little things of sultanas or apricots.
Ginger - glad that J is OK now, must havev been scary
MM - so sorry that Maddie couldn't come on your holiday, I am sure she will have a ball with the IL's once the ab's kick in. Hope you and DH can relax and enjoy yourselves. I like MP's idea of bringing home something special - my parents left me for a week and went to NZ and I got a little sister 9 months later!!!
Clare - good luck for your return trip
Well we are up at my parents for the week. K is still refusing to have naps for DH and I and I think we have tried everything. On the weekend I read to her for an hour and she just wouldn't sleep - hopped in the car to go and watch DH play cricket and she was out in less than 5 minutes! Anyway, we left her with Mum yesterday while we were out shopping and she fell asleep without a problem. So today DH went out and dropped me at the shops on the way so I walked home while Mum put her to bed - total success!!
They are having all the stormwater pipes redone here so there are so many exciting trucks and diggers driving past, K is loving it! This afternoon we are going to go and try the merry-go-round for the first time!
Can't believe how cold it is here - was hoping to get a bit of clothes shopping in, but it's so cold it's hard to get motivated to buy summery things!
-
Just a quick one from me - have to share/brag - Jacob just did his first giggles! LOVE IT! I got the same buzz as when N laughed properly for the first time. He is sleeping now but I will be working hard to get a fewmore out of him when he wakes up!
Cally - I will def partake in some muffins (I'm not crazy!), might just have stir fry veg for dinner that night instead of pizza!!
-
Awwwww that would have melted your heart! I bet he wont do it again for ages now that you want him to do it LOL.
Cally the weather has been crazy cold here lately too and you see summer clothes in the shops and wonder when you will actually need them LOL.
-
hello beautiful ladies,
I am home now but am buggered, I dont know how anyone sleeps in shared rooms lol. Will try to catch up over the next few days and write by birth story. Zoe's birth was amazing and I still cant believe it was all done and dusted in 3.5hours. Have put pics on FB including our group so MP can see.
Big thanks to H for doing my BA I told you I would make sure I had her before you left lol.
-
YAY Katie.. off to look at pics now! (thx for adding to the group for me!)
-
It's been freezing here too and I felt like a bit of a nutcase having the aircon on to test it yesterday LOL.
Katie great to hear from you ...so pleased your home, expect you will feel tired for a bit if you've had a bit of extra bleeding, so rest up plenty and enjoy your Zoe time to the max!
LOL MP I had baked beans today too. Your plan sounds very do-able. It's nearly payday and we've eaten our way thru all the goodies we had on board while the iLs were here so my health kick starts once I've done a big healthy grocery shop. My sister is starting a diet & exercise plan so it's good timing for me to hear about it on all fronts LOL. BTW we used to have a "car bar" - its a bar that fits under and across the car seat and has a steering wheel and horn etc, so the toddler can 'drive' the car when you do. Haven't seen one recently but you could try some of the bigger bub stores.
CAlly, oh yeah diggers are very exciting. Those day sleeps sound like a real struggle, what happens when you just put her to bed with a few toys and leave her by herself?
Ginger, love the house spiders....just provide they stay in the spidey zone. Move into the human zone and that's it, the shoe comes out.
Big woohoo here today, our first day back at Kindergym. We go to a less popular (timewise) session so there weren't as many kids there which is good because E wasn't overwhelmed and I wasn't germ-paranoid. She had a ball, mostly running from thing to thing in quick succession, i expect she will play with each thing for longer when she's more used to them. :)

hi girls!
MP: ooh the car bar thing MD and sherie mentioned sounds good!
Oz: yay! for being home and all those newborn snuggles...will be checking out FB!
G: what?!!!! it's cold????? NNOOOOOOOOOOO! i guess the rain is really good though....hmmm no doubt my bulbs have died back though...
i'd go metalicus for a top...
cally: ohhh need to come to your place! diggers are a massive hit here. leila yells out DIGGER DIGGER over and over and over when she sees one lol.
MD: that is really cool that the kindergym was a success. i am having a mega mummy guilt moment that leila hasnt done any organised sort of activity for a loooong time. i go into hibernation in winter. hopefully i can get her enrolled in a swim class...especially after hearing about that poor NZ family.
sherie: ha ha ha! I am having the opposite feeling here ATM. they have all the heavy jackets and the like and it is sweltering!
AFM: all good here. didnt sleep a wink last night. like not one! So weird. but i think my brain is getting ready for the time transition lol! on my own today with leila which is a bit intense...my italian skills are being stretched to the limit lol.
also a bit down as the TTC train for me is moving at a crazy slow pace...again. sooo dont want to have to wait 2 years like last time...even if DD is PERFECT lol!

Amelia is about to wake but wanted to say that Zoe is adorable!
-
Welcome home Katie. :D
Trill- Move plans going slowly. Apparently work visas move in PNG time, s...l...o....w.....l.....y. So not expecting to have visas until Dec/Jan. We're in the process of buying a container to pack storage things into. But no major rush!
Having a cracker day here. I have Gastro, so do both the girls. Just changed all Lu's sheets cause she spewed on them. At least there is a washing machine here i guess. Having a slight family crisis, my poor bro has recently (in the last 2 weeks) been diagnosed with depression. He is medicated, but not so well i suspect. He had a massive meltdown today and is in getting assed by the local psych team. Poor bugger is really on the edge. I was so scared he was going to harm himself today. I am relieved he is getting help, but faaaar out, big day. So tired, but wound up. Should go lie down, although i am sure i'll be up driving the porcelain bus soon enough! :p On the upside i've lost 3 kgs. Every cloud has a silver lining right??
-
Oh Ange, hope you and the girls are feeling better soon.
Katie - little Zoe is just gorgeous!!
MD - DH tried just putting her down and she absolutely screamed. I'm hoping that when her bed arrives we might have some more luck.
Merry go round didn't work yesterday. Sign said it was open until 4, we were there at 3 and it was completely shut. So we had to find a $2 ride instead, she went round and round on a Batman thing and then a babychino. Oh and we found Mr Magnolia, her most favourite library book ever and Granny bought it for her. Super exciting!!
Today we are heading to the pool. Was going to take her little cousin (6mths younger) who has never been swimming before, but just too tricky with different nap times etc.
And tonight, yummy dessert with friends (and no babies!!)
-
Oh Ange - what a day. I hope you and the girls are better today... and I hope your brother improves with the meds and all your support. I have been in a similar situation myself (family member and also a friend) and so i know how hard these days can be. Thinking of you.
Cally - your desert out sounds fun. i should arrange something like that with my friends. I cant really get out for a full dinner often anymore but am sure i could manage desert. v brave heading to the pool in this weather!!! Did you end up doing some shopping - i bought 2 summer dresses in telast 2 days - wishful thinking for some warmth i think!
V stoked as the holiday house in NZ i wanted is ours!!! and it is fully equipped for a toddler and a abub and the lady who owns it seems wonderful - s0 v v happy with that, she is giving me heaps of advice for the trip too!
Took J to the osteo today, there is some improvement but we need to go more... also his moo goo arrived this morn and i put the excema cream on and i swear there is alraedy an improvement. got some more giggles out of him last night too. am in a v good place with my little fam of 4 atm!
-
MP - dessert out is great as we can go after they are asleep when they are really little or just let DH's do the bedtime routine. Awesome news on NZ
Yes we went to the pool (CISAC). Was lovely in the water, but pretty cold getting out! I went and had a shower and got dressed, then mum brought K in, had their shower and I got her dressed so none of us got too cold. Unfortunately, while K was sitting on my lap being dried off with the towel, she wee-ed on me! So I had wet pants to wear home - lucky they were just black trackies.
-
sorry to be brief but i really need to know- how many of the bubs are still having day sleeps? how long for? how long are they sleeping at night/in total over a 24hour period?
day sleeps are turning into the biggest drama in the world around here and i really don't know what to do about it. help!!!
-
Ginger, Missy E *usually* goes to bed around 8pm (give or take half an hour) and wakes anywhere from 7-8 am. She sleeps pretty much every day (has the stray random day where she misses her sleep or just gets a quick kip in the car) minimum usually 45 mins - 1.5 hrs but lately it's been around the 2 hour mark (mostly because she's been performing in an all singing all dancing one-toddler broadway show every night after the lights go out). Sometimes it depends on how busy and active she has been.
-
so she's still sleeping a lot then....he's completely doing my head in. flat out refusing to day sleep, even though he's tired, and then becoming super destructive in the afternoons, basically from tiredness. i got super angry with him today, which obviously didn't get me anywhere.....
-
Ginger, Sorry, I thought every one else would jump in and comment but instead it looks like I'm rubbing it in your face  Sorry, sweet. Are you able to get him to lie down and have a 'rest' - even on the lounge or on your bed - or better still on his bed - and watch some telly/listen to a story/some other quiet non-moving activity? Sometimes if you can enforce this he might end up snoozing off, kwim? My other strategy is to serve a big snack - or even give dinner v.early - just because sometimes they're hungry, not tired. Missy E just wolfed down a dry weetbix, for eg.
-
he's fallen asleep on the floor now. great..so now i've got no hope of getting him to bed before 10pm...thanks for helping me. sorry, i've just had a really bad day here and am getting upset. hopefully tomorrow i'll be in a better mood xoxo
-
Ginger is there any chance he's teething or has a hidden ear infection - when Missy E went thru her refusing sleeps it was actually because of an ear infection (no other symptoms, no temp, only green snot). Hang in there sweetie, we've had our horrible afternoons too, sometimes it's more about how depleted you are feeling and then they push the boundaries and it's too much.
