Cass, I have to change my prediction. Now the 17th, or possibly the 27th. As I woke this morning the first thing I thought was "my prediction is wrong, it should have a 7 in it". Because obviously the just woken musing of an internet random are always accurate lmao.
Great that you got to have a night out with no problems - 10 days stuck at home is like torture!
DH has taken all the kids out for a walk and I am supposed to be studying but I am about to fall asleep (ironically whilst reading a chapter on wakefulness and sleep) :( E woke up for a couple of hours last night as well. It is basically every night now that she wakes for an hour or two and just mucks around. Very frustrating.

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been semi-MIA, can't keep track of what I've posted or what I just thought I've posted. So I apologise for being non-responsive. :grouphug:
Have been on leave for last 2 weeks and honestly it seems like barely a week. Not sure if that's because I just get sucked into that vortex of school-holiday attention (where you should have more time but some it just gets sucked out of you by your darling offspring LOL). Anyway it has been nice enough, I never get everything ticked off my to-do list but have chilled out with H a fair bit so that counts for something.
Cass :hug: Go you, resty lady! Hope you're not too rested-out - this is one of those slow-and-steady wins the race situations.
Arte - sweetie have you had a decent sleep yet? So, so hard. Explain to me why you are reading about sleep and wakefulness? Can't remember what you're studying now. BTW I would place more stock by the just-woken musings of an internet random than the fully-awake musings after I had a freaky nearly-awake dream a couple of months ago that later turned out to be true. :o. BTW you hardly count as an internet random, you're practically family now.
While we are on the topic of sleep/wake I've booked myself in for a sleep study. If they can fix my sleep problems it might help my flakey brain.
Trill, enjoy your uni break. Sounds like you're doing awesome as usual! I'm really keen to knock over another subject but have just heard that we will have ILs and my sister visiting and i'm just not sure I can do it to myself.
Ginger, your animal farm party sounds awesome. Happy birthday to L!! Agree with everyone else about the new social circles that school will open up.
Speaking of which I had a hilarious moment the other day when I realised that I knew H's friend's mum from 10 years ago when we lived here before. Our girls went to kindergym together, and we'd had lunch together a few times but then we moved and I never caught up with her again. Have seen and chatted with this mum a few times over the last couple of years, but i was just randomly driving up the road the other day when I went OMG that's T!!! Funny now that that girls are friends (and reasonably good ones too). Anyway I told her and she said she couldn't work out why our house seemed so familiar. PMSL. So there ya go.
Re parties, we finally got around to doing E's party today. Perfect weather & the kids had a ball. We had a "tea party" and the girls all sat around the table with their teacups and saucers, drinking "fairy tea" (warm ribena to the uninitiated) and we had little tiny scones, sandwiches, cakes, etc. Then we played some pretty basic party games, like throw the (soft toy) fruit into the basket, follow the (red pieces of paper) "strawberry trail" and we had a pin the strawberry on the strawberry bush game. I'm exhausted now though. Decided at the 11th hour to lose my fondant icing virginity (hasty decision, LOL) and did hand moulded strawberries and leaves for the cake at something a.m. last night. Brutalised by the lost daylight savings hour today. BUT I've also discoved just-add-water royal icing and my days of frantic birthday-cake icing woes are over! The cake looked awesome, and I predict that my cake decorating might branch out a little from now on.

that is VERY cool about Hs friend's mum. i love that neither of you clicked despite house visits and all lol.
Think i will have to steal your fairy party idea for next year...sounds like i can do that small and intimate...ie NOT with 21 kids lol.
Arte: a 7 hey? hmmm, well that could ALSO mean that she comes smack on her due date like Miss M...this ones EDD is 7th of November! DH wants her to come then as it is historically significant (the anniversary of the Red October :lol:)...bloody historian lol.

we had L's party yesterday. the weather let us down a bit but overall it was a great day. a little disappointed in one of my friends....but i have to go and make myself a coffee before i explain about that

Re fondant, I used ready-made "white icing" (from the supermarket) and you just knead the colour through. But you have to use the wilton colouring gels or you will never get enough colour into it. I stuck my shapes on with royal icing - so I haven't actually tried to roll the fondant out and get it onto a cake that way. But if I was I reckon the secret would have to be to use baking paper to control where it's going. Oh, and starting with a well shaped cake which might be a bit of a challenge because mine are often a demented shape.
Cass, if she arrives on 7 October, you've got no excuses then for not naming her Scarlett PMSL.
Sleep study, am seeing the sleep dr on thursday, and then the study will be a couple of weeks later. My sister's getting one done this week, actually, she promised to facebook the photos of her all wired up, bride of frankenstein style (Yes. I did tell her that Frankenstein was the doctor's name. Pffft).
And re my long-lost friend - the friendship was only in very early stages when we left. In my defence they moved, and I was pretty damn chemobrained there for a while. I've started taking high-DHA fish oil and whaddaya know - revelation! LOL.

right so a new lady has moved into town, lives one street away from me, knew no one when she moved here. i've gone out on a limb for her. introduced her to a few different social circles, even got her son into the kinder (basically put in a good word with the enrollments officer for her and bumped his name up the list a little ;) her kids were having a bit of a hard time making friends etc. so i've really been making an effort to invite them to different things and introduce them to people. right, so i invited herself her dp and 3 kids to L's party. she's had the invite for about 6 weeks. rsvped that all 5 of them would definitely be here. talked it up hugely to L saying how excited her kids were about his party and how much they were looking forward to it. we actually got the party catered by a spit roast company and had to pay per head....so, sunday rolls around and she texts me 20 minutes after the party had started to say that she was too hungover and couldn't make it. unbelievable!!! i am fuming. it's not just the $ we paid for the 5 of them to be catered for, it's just the pure laziness of inconsideration for it all. all she had to do was sit here and eat and let her kids play. L was disappointed and asked a couple of times where they were. they live so close they could have even walked here!! i'm super upset :(

THat would have ****ed me off bigtime! Heck she could have even dropped the kids off and gone home again if she was that hungover. And it ****ed me off when people do that with hangovers anyway - it's not like you catch a bug and you can't avoid being sick - you get drunk to the point of being that hungover knowing that you have something on the next day, you put your big girl pants on and you front up anyway. I hope it didn't spoil his day too much though :hug:
MD, that's great the fishoil has been helping. What a small world that is about your friend too! I think this friendship is just meant to be MD. So do you think the sleep is related to the chemo and all that or something else entirely? I'd love to see a photo of the cake :)

G: i reckon that it does suck butt. seriously even the DH could of come with the kids. imagine how disappointed the little kids would of been too :( hopefully it is just one of those one off things and she can redeem herself good and proper!
MD: ahhh see i made the mistake of getting that marzipan stuff and had a wee taste and was like: ewwwww, so i must look out for the royal icing stuff. for wonky cakes the best is to freeze them and then cut them into shape...i am forever shaving off the top where it has rise a bit cone like and cracked.
I love my fish oil too lol. i get a super duper one and it really does make a difference!

Ginger - How super frustrating! Poor L. Totally with Trill, big girls pants needed!
MD - So what are your sleep issues? DH thinks I should have a sleep study done. My problem isn't falling asleep at the start of the night, I just can't get back to sleep in the middle of the night/early morning. He reckons I was really noisy the other night, but I'm thinking that was just a bit of hayfever nasal blockage!
Cass - My cakes tend to sink in the middle, not rise. We should get together and we'd make perfect ones!
Well DD was very excited to be back at day care this morning after 3 weeks off as well as a very short last week due to her sickness. She was all ready this morning in about 30 minutes. Very happy with that!

It makes it so much easier when they are ready quickly. It makes it so hard when you feel like you are constantly nagging them to hurry up.

on other matters, trying to get J a specialist appointment to deal with some behavioural issues and the 2 ones i've had recommended to me and have rung, are both booked out for the rest of the year and refuse to let me make an appointment for next year as they havent opened the books yet. so friggin strange?!? just let me make an appointment!!! im getting so frustrated!

Far out! It's October for crying out loud, they should have their diaries for next year already organised and at least making repeat appointments for their existing patients! That's really poor form. Is there anyone else you can get a referral to?

Yeah, I made the appointment in august last year and the appointment date was for January 31 this year. But then where I live is a lot smaller than where G lives so perhaps not as busy?

G, can you go through PPP or something? They must have avenues to getting appointments sooner for behaviour things. We are seeing an organisation for behaviour, not that it is doing any good. He is still as irritating as ever. Little bursts of great, then back to annoying and defiant :(

MD, E only woke twice last night which was probably the best in ages. I am so far behind now though that even one good night doesn't make a difference :( Am doing a paper in Biological Psychology this year that has a sleep section. Also schizophrenia, which has disturbing pre-natal links.
Another long, long day stuck inside during the holidays. It is windy as outside. We have two recycling bins in the yard and what looks like all the contents scattered through the shrubs. Now I have to go out in the sideways rain to put away the stupid lamb I can hear running around baa-ing!!
