lady_neon – Sorry to hear that J is having issues with his sleeping. Something I heard once is that some babies get separation anxiety when they sleep?? Although that doesn’t necessarily explain why he’s fine for day sleeps but not for night sleeps.
On a completely different note, I notice both of mine won’t go to sleep very easily if at all, if they are hungry. Is J wanting feeds more often? Could he be hungry? I know you said he had bad gas when you started him on solids. What did you try? Perhaps try something different. (just trying to throw things out there)
Sleep deprivation sucks, so I hope you get his sleeping sorted out soon.
Pholi – what is Ngala?
I’m glad you were able to get T’s sleeping sorted.
terry – It’s hard leaving them isn’t it? I still struggle to leave A and this is week 4 back at work. When do you start back?
Sounds like G is going great guns. A is crawling everywhere too, and into EVERYTHING. DS never got into a thing, so we never really baby proofed with him. A is a different story entirely if she can grab it, mouth it, pull it, kick it, wedge herself under/between it, she does
Any teeth yet?
AFU – I’ve had a crap week. A’s cough is back has been since Wed. So that’s been keeping me up at night. She had a fever over the weekend, I can’t decide if it’s her teeth moving or a growth spurt. So she was even more restless with that.
Then Sunday was just getting into bed when DS let out an ear piercing scream. And he cried and cried. Finally got him calmed down enough for him to tell me his ear hurt. Had a look at it and there was blood coming out!!!!! So off to the ER at 10:30 at night. FOUR HOURS LATER (because apparently a screaming toddler with blood oozing out if his ear is a 4 on priority scale four being nearly the lowest priority...grrr) we finally saw a doctor.
Mind you this is only after being abused for having Annabella with me, The public hospital here sucks. I hate going there, and I wouldn't have taken DS except for the screaming and blood, that having been said, they did nothing for either. Useless.
And yes, they abused me for having Annabella, but I was half expecting it because they abused me for taking DS in with me when my appendix ruptured when he was 7 weeks. Apparently I should plan when someone is going to be ill enough for the ER and express. I shouldn't bring a baby into ER because they could get sick. Ummmm, she could get sick from someone anywhere u take her, and I'm sure there are as many germs in a shopping centre, or the grocery store as there are there.
I also got the it won't kill her to have formula speech (and I know it wouldn't, but there is also the little problem of her refusing bottles, day care can get her to drink 10-20 ml from a dippy cup, but that's about it.and that's with a lot of perseverance. Oh yeah, and the fact that it’s 10:30 at night! WHERE IN HELL AM I SUPPOSE TO BUY FORMULA AT THAT TIME OF NIGHT?!?!?! I Breastfeed. I don’t have formula at home to just make up whenever) but way to support breast feeding. And then I got the, if she gets hungry enough she'll eat what she's given lecture. I ended up giving a few lectures is my own. I was seeing red.
Then, no one could understand why I was so angry!
So doctor asks what the problem is. I say blood in my toddlers ear. He asks if he has a fever. I say no. Asks what else is wrong with him...nothing I've noticed so far. THEN......THEN!!!!! he asks why I brought him into emergency if there is nothing wrong with him. :WTF: . Well I lost it. BECAUSE HE HAS F@#*ING BLOOD COMING OUT OF HIS EAR YOU MORON!!!!!!!! And yes I used those exact words. Have I ever mentioned how much our public hospital here sucks!!!!! Then he looks at me like I have two heads and says. Blood in his ear? You never said he had blood in his ear. Lost it again. Called him several kinds of stupid. That was the first thing I said. That’s what I said to the triage nurse, that’s what I said the second triage nurse at hand over. That is what is on your paper work, and that is the VERY FIRST THING I said when I got in here with you! Finally at 5am (now remember I got to the ER a bit after 10:30pm) he saw an ENT got my poor boy some pain killers and found out he MAY have a ruptured ear drum (because apparently a qualified ENT is not qualified to tell me it definitely is without a second opinion WTF!?!?!?) Then got sent home. No pain relief....nothing. neither panadol or neurophen even dulled the pain for the poor kid. Oh, and the assurance that I'd receive a letter in the mail sometime this week confirming when I'd be able to be seen (within the next 3-5 weeks) for a second opinion. Thanks for N O T H I N G!!!!
So called my gp Monday morning morning. Saw him at 10. Got sent to paed. Saw him by 10:45 and had a referral for the paediatric ENT for Tues. It would have been Monday except he's was in Sydney and didn’t fly back till late Monday night. Got a script for pain relief and finally got my little lad calmed down.
Saw the ENT yesterday and yes, he did in fact have a perforated ear drum….not sure what caused it. The ENT wants to look into it more because he thinks it could be related to his ongoing eye duct problem.
But that was well and truly a rant away from A.
She’s doing great. After being worried because she was refusing to take any weight at all on her legs, I heard DS calling me last night. MUMMY MUMMY WOOK. WOOK (look) My Bella. And there she was standing up holding onto my footstool!
