Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Hi guys. Sorry it is hard to keep up and type one handed. Will get on the big computer later to see how everyone is.
We are all. My little man is a dream baby. Can't believe he will be three days old at lunch time. I love him. He has settled in so quickly. The other kids love him. Only last 260gms which I'm not surprised my milk is coming in quickly. He is so quiet. He tries to cry but then goes 'oh ok do what you have to then give me a boob'. Didn't even move when he had the newborn screening test. I think I may have paid all my rough baby dues with DD3 :)
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Wow Tegam that's great! Maya is the opposite, even the MW commented on her being a drama queen! Haha. Hey have you made baby boys name official yet?
Eive and Williever, I was able to complete my PPL application via an app on my iphone! I just took a photo of the important back page and uploaded it. It's called the Express Plus Families app.
I have been very quiet too sorry ladies. Maya is great and I've enjoyed one week of the school holidays with 3 kids. Unfortunately DP and I aren't on the same page (putting it mildly) but I'm hoping today's a new day and we can start afresh (really I mean is his attitude to start afresh!). Anyway...
After feeding non stop for a good few days and expressing when I'm not feeding, I have a huge amount of milk. I wish I knew my secret and I could share it with everyone but I don't know exactly why I always get so much milk, unless it's just the non stop feeding I persist with in that first 3-5 days. Hey my nipples nearly fell off but it was worth it!
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Thanks Jessica. I'll give that app a try although I have already filled in the form this morning. Go me!!
I hope DP's attitude fix up happens!
I don't know what I can do about this milk situation. It's the same as last time. Will call a LC next week and bake the cookies. I have tried pumping and pumping but nothing from left boob. Right boob now producing less. Ugh. Disappointed.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Williever, I can't pump anything from my right boob but I can tell bub is getting milk and he pulled off the other day and had milk running down his cheek! Don't think that because it doesn't pump that there is no milk...
Thanks for the app tip Jessica, will check it out.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
I know but nipples are inverted so i need the shields. And nothing is coming through the shields.
Babies Born ~ September 2014
Hmm I'm trying to think of some good advice Williever! Good on you for persisting.
I agree with Eivie, sometimes babies just get more milk out than the pumps too. It happened to me just yesterday, I gave her a bottle of expressed milk when I was out (actually we were in the car and DS1 fed her while I was driving, so so cute and helpful!), so as soon as I got home my boobs were full and aching. So I expressed on each side and only got 60ml. Normally I get over 100ml!
I can't recall your previous posts but is bub settled after a good feeding session (say 20mins each side?)? Sometimes Maya feeds for an hour plus. It's tiring but I know if she keeps feeding she will probably sleep longer.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
I have (almost) no problem with being at home with 5 kids on this beautiful grand final day. But I do have a problem with being so busy it has taken me over 2 hours to finish a cup of tea! Although I don't think it's the 5 kids part that's caused it, but just the joys of having a newborn.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Newborn Cold Tea Syndrome ;-)
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Ah, I'm not sure if you mentioned the inverted nipples before Williever, that would make it more difficult. The lc is definitely a good idea.
Lachie is all dressed up for grand final day in his hawthorn hoodie, so cute lol. Go Hawks!
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
We are going for the Swans. I might have a sleep though..... Sorry sporting Gods!
I am going to give the feed and pump a go. I just hate watching her suck and get nothing.
Wrapping? I don't think she likes it. Does anyone not wrap?
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Maybe think of it as boobie time rather than feeding time, do skin to skin and just enjoy it. That way she's suckling which tells your body you still want milk but you don't feel like you're depriving her. She'll get the comfort of boobie time even if there is no milk for her. You can give a bit of formula first so she's relaxed.
I found brewer's yeast tablets at chemist warehouse, trying those while I wait for my big bag of powder to be delivered for more cookies.
Wrapping isn't working for us now, he gets very angry lol.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Eivie an Williever, DS1 Hated wrapping and we never did it. But Zen loves it, I guess it depends on the kid :)
As for feeding, the mor baby sucks the more milk you make, so I second the boobie time, loads of skin to skin and let her sucle. Williever I have flat nipples before DS1 was born and it took a week for my milk to come in. More importantly it took a week for my nipples to not be flat. They were literally flat! Keep at it, you are doing great. An LC would be really helpful :)
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Another bub here that hates to be wrapped. She groans and squirms and tries to push her way out of the wrap. She gets really upset. We're using a sleeping bag now. She now sleeps with her arms up above her head and legs kicking around.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Yes again to the skin/boobie time. Something really helpful my MW told me was that newborns pain relief is boobie sucking. I also read it on the internet (so it must be true!). So they suck not only to feed but for pain relief, comfort, and other reasons. It made me think ok, if she is unsettled, why not whip the boob out!
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Oh and about the wrapping, Maya loves sleeping in swaddle/gro bag things. They aren't too restrictive around the arms. I'll check the brand and let you know!
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
How can a newborn be awake for four hours?! I am going mad.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
Haha Maya was just asleep for 4hrs, my boobs were killing me!
But she has definitely had times where she doesn't sleep between feeds, I put it down to cluster feeding because she is such a piggy, and so I kept feeding her.
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014
I wouldnt mind if Zen fed when awake but he isnt the boobie monster DS1 was... He screams at the boob if he doesnt want it. Argh! But he is finally asleep, nearly 5 hours after he woke. Today he only slept about 4 hours, so I am hoping that means a better night for us.... But I am not holding my breathe.
