Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Shame the nurses suck in your area tubbles. There's some crap ones around here too. I had one stay for close to 2 hours last week filling my head with all sorts of crap. Lucky I'm not insecure otherwise I'd have been a mess when she left. I just wanted her out of my house! I won't go to the clinic now. I will just take Bub to a chemist to weigh him when I want to, and the dr does it when he gets his needles anyway.
I weighed him today at 4wks at 4.9kg! I feel so so lucky he's such a normal average baby. He gives me no worries!
Fairy floss 6 weeks wow!!! So glad she's doing better now. Hope your feeling ok too?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Peace what did he weigh at birth again?
I'm feeling ok. Need my meds upped as they aren't helping a great deal.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
He was 3.48 at birth.
I hope it's not too hard to increase your dose FF.
I am getting more into baby wearing this time around. I'm enjoying my new ergo and so is Bub. At the shops it's great - way better than the pram for us usually. The shops are really well air conditioned but at home it's a bit hot and a nuisance. I think because of the infant insert. I have a hug a Bub too that I got for DS1 originally. But I've never liked it.

You can use a small towel or muslin rolled up under there bum, will help it be cooler. (Edit - instead of the insert)

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Hi all! Sorry for slack posting... Been a rough few days with sick DS :( DD so far avoiding it but gees she's been a tough cookie to deal with today!!
FF I hope you start feeling better soon xx
DD is 4 weeks tomorrow gosh that's gone fast :/
I managed to avoid the CHN visits this time... Which I'm glad about as last time they were a little judgmental about how many dogs I had and whether I needed to think about having them outdoors [emoji53] this time I called them and told them I had a private Midwife coming for 6 weeks and I'm happy to come to an appointment at 6 weeks. They were quite happy with that.
I'm trying to get into babywearing this time too. I have a stretchy wrap and a woven and a hybrid wrapsody... But I've misplaced the wrapsody!!!! I've looked everywhere!!
Next to buy is a Ringsling. I'm yet to master my woven though!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I got addicted to BW with DS1. Made life so much easier to manage two, when one was "out of the way" lol. Ring slings took more time for me to get the hang of than wrapping, but once I got it, was soo quick and easy.
DS2 lives in wovens now. I was meaning to try a hybrid one with him, but was scared of the heat, lol! So just thin wovens at the moment. Mostly switching between my kokadi Lilly im Wonderlund, and a didymos Indio, I can't remember the name of it, think it starts with L, but my friend lent it to me because it's meant to be perfect for newborns (she's hoarding it because it's her squishy wrap, that she's going to use with grandkids, lol) Leander maybe is the name? All my other wraps are more toddler orientated. Also use a MT at times, but find my wraps the most comfy for us.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I'm looking at getting a kokadi I'm wunderland RS. Is it quite thin and ok for a squish?
I have a Lenny lamb MT but it's toddler size... But I haven't been able to carry DS since he hit the 18kg mark
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Yep, better for an infant than a toddler. Super soft! I find most kokadis are though :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I missed out on the kokadi :( I'm getting a flytai now!!
I have a freaking haemorrhoid and a UTI... DS still sick and DD is in an insane witching hour

Thanks for the tip tubbles I'll give that a go. He really loves being worn I wish I had the ergo for DS1! I'm a bit behind though so I don't know what all these different carriers are your talking about but Google tells me they are very pretty.
Hope things are settling at your house Ess tee.
I've got the boys all to myself for 2 whole days and nights while DP is at a bucks weekend. (That's right. A bucks weekend. When did it change from a night to a 3 day bender weekend?) Should be interesting! The house will no doubt be trashed but we'll be right haha
Ladies, do your bubs fart a lot? I'm trying to figure out if all this farting is caused by something I'm doing wrong or if it's just normal. I just don't want to be feeding him wrong and making him farty and that be hurting his lil belly.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Very little farting here.
Enjoy your boys alone for the weekend peace!
Pulling my hair out tonight. Bub been awake since 2pm and still not slept. Just fed and cried all arvo and night
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
If he's farting without pain, I wouldn't worry too much. It could be diet related, could also be oversupply (gulping in air as he swallows the large amounts, this is what happens with DS2), but if he isn't fussy I wouldn't worry too much.

Must've been the day for it, we had a similar afternoon...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Well my weekend with just my babies went fine. Surprised myself actually. Haha
The farting seems to bother him sometimes, but usually not. They just surprise me. They are that big they could easily be mistaken for an adult farting.
Bubs had some completely feral days this past week. Last night he cried for hours? So annoying. I couldn't calm him. But he fell asleep on DP eventually and i took him to bed and he slept fine. He was just psycho yesterday. Seems better today.
But my 2 yo is being an absolute champ. Weird. His behaviour is great. His speech is really good which is helping I think because he's able to tell me what he needs or what his problem is. Much easier than the fussy newborn!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Yep we've had some completely feral days too... I blame the first leap!!! I had the same non stop crying last night too.
Worst part is I'm sick... I have what DS had last week... Conjunctivitis, sore throat and running temps. It's actual hell
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh god that's horrible! Feeling for you esstee :(
That's it, I'm going to go dig out the wonder weeks book now... I better get a proper smile from this Bub next week to make up for his feralness ;)
FF any smiles there yet?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Download the app too. It tells you when the storm is coming... And its freakishly accurate!
DD has only been having 1 hour sleeps... This too shall pass this too shall pass!
We've at least got some smiles... Been having some gorgeous ones for a week or so now. The best ones are when they don't then turn straight into crying!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
We are well and truly in the first leap too! And getting smiles for a week now too. I love it, he usually does a little coo with it too, and smiles bigger when I coo back. But non stop crying, argh. Today he has been awesome though, slept one 3hr stint and then another one later that arvo with a few cat naps in between. Better than yesterday which was all little cat naps, most less than 5mins! It was hell. Got to bed time and he was hysterical, had to pace the house with him in a carrier screaming until he passed out.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I'm really struggling with putting her down. She's been great up til this leap and now she screams til she's picked up, no matter how long she's been asleep in my arms first. Her longest sleep today was 1.5h where I lay in between her and DS (when I say lay, I mean sandwiched).
I can't wait til it's over and I can have a happier baby. I took them for a drive tonight so she'd go to sleep.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
The night before last I contemplated going for a drive (in my pjs, during a storm lol) so I could get him to sleep..
This came up on my Instagram account yesterday, and made me laugh.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Had Remi weighed, he weighs 6.6kg and is 63cm long! I had been a bit worried, as he does soooo much poos compared to my other kids, I was worried it wasn't sticking to the sides, lol, particularly as he has been losing the rolls he was born with... Turns out he was just stretching out 7cm in 5 weeks!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Wooooow! [emoji15] Remi must just be such a beautiful chubba! Can I ask what size clothes he's in Tubbles?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Lots and lots of smiles here now. When she's not screamibg the house down there's a huge grin lol
My 2yo has gastro now. I have a chest infection. DS has conjunctivitis. Oh so healthy here :(
Wow Remi is a big boy.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Ok so.... This morning (after a few days of little to no PP bleeding) I had some familiar cramping. Went to the loo and wiped and there was brownish/red blood. Is it just more bleeding (stopping and starting) or could it be my cycle? I'll be pretty annoyed if it is my cycle! Still EBF baby and toddler too! No fair!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Mine was on and off for about a week before it stopped completely. Doubtful to be your period yet - that would be horrible luck!
FF sorry your household it sick again. You guys just keep copping it!!
Tubbles holy moly that's a big baby! My Heaths just getting to your Remis birthweight lol
I went to get the clinic nurses opinion today because I've been worried Bub has a tongue tie. She doesn't think he does. But is concerned I don't have him in a sleep routine, and that he feeds often, and that I have him sleep with us. I'm just going ummm but, he's a newborn? He doesn't care if the clinic lady says he should have a feed less often, he just gets hungry, and so he eats. And it's my choice to have him in the bed, not because I can't afford a bassinet as she presumed. It's not like I surround him with big pillows, and chuck a doona over the top. Old people! So outdated.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh and I'm super jealous of all your smiley bubs! I think I've gotten a couple but they are followed by a poo or fart usually so I'm not convinced he actually likes me yet. We'll see!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Yeah I think the crampy bit threw me off! I think it would be majorly unlucky to get AF back after 5 weeks...
I hope you can get some answers peace on the tie... I agree with you on old school opinions about cosleeping, demand feeding etc. that's why I'm going to miss my IM so much. We agree on pretty much everything... Seeing the CHN next Friday and you just never know what you're going to get!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
She suggested I was feeding him too much fore milk and not enough hind milk (that old chestnut!). He has gained over a kg in 3 weeks. Whatever he is getting is fatty enough I would say! So I guess he's just a farty Bub and it will sort out as he gets older. Good luck with your CHN appt! Can't wait to hear of all the things your doing wrong too ;)

He's in a size 00-0 at the moment. He's not as rolls as you'd think he should be, I think he stores it in his bones!
DS1 has a red eye at the moment, hope it isn't conjunctivitis.
We have lots of screaming here too, particularly when tired, doesn't want to breastfeed because he only wants to comfort suck but my supply won't let him, so he gets so grumpy. Just had to hold him through the screams til he slept... But yes, screaming crying, and then 5 mins later full of smiles, 5 mins later screams and crying!

I am still bleeding, some days heavier than others - so lame!

I'd see a specialist if you think he has tongue tie. What is making you think that? Remi has just gotten really smelly and farty. Could totally be the hind milk thing! An LC at the ABA meeting told me to stop block feeding, as it can confuse my breasts or something.. Ever since, gross smelly farts! But, his poo is still the 'right' colour... Although I think it has a bit of bubbles/foam to it than it normally has.. Can you tell I EC and check the poo as I'm paranoid?! Lol. Maybe I'll go back to block feeding. Was worried about my diet affecting him, but I don't think I've changed anything.

I haven't even seen an CHN yet, don't think I will, the pharmacy can weigh and measure his length for free, so that's where I'll be going.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
AF returned at 5w6d for me...no fair!!
I'm struggling with DD not sleeping. She won't sleep after her big morning nap and screams non stop from 7/8pm for hours on end. Nothing I try works, she just fights sleep.
She's in 0000/000 clothes, used up our final newborn nappy last night

How old is your DD FF?

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Oh I feel better I'm not the only one who's baby seems emotionally unstable lol yes I totally forgot how challenging the newborn stage is. We are getting there though :) they'll be months old before we know it and easier to read.
Tubbles when Bub was born the midwife said he had a very mild posterior tongue tie. So mild it wouldn't need any fixing. He feeds well, no nipple damage and can poke his tongue out. BUT he has symptoms of a baby with a tongue tie like all the farts, his latch is only ok, he clicks intermittently when feeding, and leaves me with lipstick shaped nipples. The farts don't smell but seems to pain him so that was why I wanted it checked. I'll ask the GP at his 6wk needles next week and I'll ask my midwife when I see her next week too. But I'm feeling more confident that it's not a tongue tie, he's kid a farty bum and it will settle with age.
Strange that they told you not to block feed... I do 1 boob per feed. I did it with my first too and it works well for me. If his farts are smelly maybe go back to one boob and see if it changes? That's interesting let me know how it goes.
I asked DP today, now that both our boys are here and settled in, is he still sure he's done having kids. He thought on it for a little bit and said he just hates the pregnancy bit. I do too, it comes between us. But he's totally going to be onboard for another. I don't think I'm done either...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Woo, more babies! I'm thinking of having a womb closing ceremony, to try make myself feel better, but at the moment I feel like I want to have all the babies!
Could be farting because of the clicking. Remi has started farting more as his click has increased. He has also got a mild posterior tongue tie, and mild lip tie that will grow out. But when they click they swallow air.
I only feed one side each feed, always have with each kid. Tried offering both with DD, and it made her have frothy green poos, so horrible! Owen was block fed, for 4hr blocks, because he snacked so much. I was doing 2-3 hour blocks with Remi, but then he started doing little sharts all the time, which made him get a rash on his bum, so LC at ABA said to stop block feeding and see how it went. Offer breast, and feed for 5mins. Then if hungry 30mins later offer other. Think it may not be working for us. Maybe block feeding for hour would be better, as sometimes he feeds every half hour and then could go 4 hours without a feed.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Haha all the babies! I'm going to give it a couple years and see how I feel. I want to BF this Bub longer. Henry got cut short because of my pregnancy stuffing it for him and I don't want that again.
I'm not surprised the clicking makes them swallow air. Luckily it's only intermittent, and not the whole feed. He's been pretty comfortable the last couple days and nights so I'll just keep chugging along.
Getting a few smiles now. He makes you work hard for them though!!! He mostly just looks crazy or cranky. Standard baby emotions.
6 weeks tomorrow omg! Needles Tuesday boo!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
How old was Henry? I was quite happy with 2 and a half (almost 3!). His ties made feeding quite painful, so was relieved he finished, with no desire to reintroduce. He apparently doesn't even remember breastfeeding ?! Feel a bit hurt by that, lol.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Lol at your little one not remembering. I think Henry remembers. He says he does. He was 21 months when he had his last feed, and while he seemed OK emotionally to not feed anymore, health wise I would have liked to continue til he was more like 2&1/2 or so. He's not a big eater, pretty slim and he got sick almost constantly after he weaned. But he hasn't been sick for months now since he left daycare.
I was ttc from when he was 6months old though and I knew it could mess with my milk. But I really thought it wouldn't for me and I'd end up tandem feeding.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
I weaned DD so I could get pregnant with DS, with the intention of trying to relactate once AF returned so I could tandem feed.. She wasn't interested in it though, boo! She was only 14months. She was fine though, I would've loved to have fed her for longer, but at the time a close gap was important to us, and we were ****ing in the wind it seemed, trying from 6 months also. She ate heaps though. DS1 didn't. He didn't even swallow any food til he was 11months old, and was primarily breastfed until he was weaned really (or maybe a month or two leading up to my supply finishing up). It took him a while to start eating lots, even now he doesn't eat *that* much some days. But he was something like 32-33 months old or something.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ September 2015
Ah ok. My AF came back at 8 months pp so I knew we weren't too far off conceiving. I day weaned Henry at 14 months. I know most people night wean first but I wanted to go back to work and know he wouldn't be looking for a boobie while I was gone. Then once he was used to going day times without it, I let him have it again on my days off. It helped a lot while I had morning sickness. Being able to keep him still and put him to sleep or just laying down.
Taking Bub off for his needles soon! I sent DP to do all of DS1s needles for the first year so don't know what to expect. I just hope it's quick.
