My birth story:


Tuesday 8th September 2015, sitting in the ob office I prayed i'd get an induction date. My anxiety was through the roof and I wasn't coping one little bit. I was offered another stretch and sweep. It was discovered I was 2-3cm. I was asked what I wanted to happen next and I requested an induction date for asap. The ob went to check the waiting list. Finally Rebecca returned and told me my induction was booked for 7am Monday 14th. Sweet relief came over me. 6 days to wait before our DD would join us. At last the end was in sight.

The next morning I woke. My due date. 40 weeks pregnant and not one sign DD would be making her arrival. I made a comment that today wasn't the day and i'd have to keep waiting. Dropped the kids to school. DD1 was off on camp for 3 days. Then MIL and myself came home. Once DD3 had gone to bed, I told MIL I needed to have a sleep. I felt sick and tired. I woke at 2pm. I felt worse but ate lunch in the hope the feeling was from hunger. I was also freezing, to the point I was shaking.

Around 310 I was getting ready to leave and collect DD2 and DS from school. Something didn't feel right, like I was wetting myself. I told MIL to hop in the car with DD3 as I needed to pee quickly. Sitting down on the loo, I realised I wasn't peeing my pants, but it was my waters leaking and gushing.

I quickly told her there was a change of plans. I rang DH to get him home, After school care to take the kids, the school to tell the kids to go to ASC, XDH to collect the kids and finally, the hospital to let them know what was happening. I was instructed to come in asap.

DH arrived home around 4 and we both had a quick shower. By now my waters were leaking a lot more.

We left once DD3 was distracted and headed to Hospital.

Once at the assessment unit, a midwife checked it was my waters and then hooked me up to the ctg as I had started contracting. They could see they were coming regular. I was asked what I wanted to do and I said I wasn't leaving until my baby was out. I was scared that my bubba would get sick again if they sent me home with broken waters. The Midwife knew my feelings and had the on duty dr review my notes. When she returned I was told I was getting admitted and being moved around to the birthing suites.

Reality hit and so did the nerves. We were taken into our room and handed over to Jaime. She explained my room would be held for me as long as needed. The senior midwife asked that we go walk stairs for 1 hour and come back at 8pm for an internal and plan of attack. DH and I headed to the cafe. I was hungry but never ate anything. Contractions were starting to hurt more but I continued walking. Then we hit the stairs. I'd go up a few and need to stop and breathe through a contraction. So many staff stopped to make sure I was ok. Finally we hit level 5 and I wanted to get back to the room. Nausea was setting in and had to stop. A midwife seen me and went to get a wheelchair and Jaime. When she arrived I started vomiting over the corridor floors. I was wheeled back into the room. I was on the loo and felt I was losing control and asked DH to call our student midwife, Sarah and tell her to make her way to the hospital. Senior midwife then came in and Jaime performed an internal. I was 5-6cm and DD was posterior, no wonder my back was copping the pain.

I then got off the bed and started bouncing on the fit ball. It was helping the pain and I could feel DD moving down and turning. They kept losing the heart trace on Bub so an internal probe was attached to her head. At some point there was a shift change over, Alex and Steph came on. Sarah arrived at some point too. She stood behind me, rubbing my back while I continued breathing out the pain.

DH said I was so in the zone, I'd occasionally pass out and block out the world around me.

I had no clue of the time, but I could tell I was entering the final stage and my baby would be born very soon. Alex said to get on the bed, but there was no way I could manage. I decided to birth upright. Then I felt the burn, the ring of fire, the feeling of needing to poo. Sarah was still behind me, ready to deliver our baby. 2 pushes and her head was out, then the rest of her body came out. Sarah passed her between my legs but she was so slippery and I couldn't hold her safely. I then got onto the bed and our first skin to skin breastfeed started. Her cord was eventually cut once it stopped pulsing. I was checked over, no tears, just grazing.

I'd done it. I achieved my drug free and delayed cord clamping birth. I felt so proud and overcome with emotion.

Baby girl arrived at 2214 on the 9th September, her due date. Weighing 8lb5oz or 3770gm, 52cm long and HC 35.5cm

Esstee my Bub was having squirty green poos sometimes and so I made a little change to how I was feeding. I am using one breast to feed off for upto 2 hours. I'm not timing it exactly, just if it hasn't been long since he was last feeding, I give him the same one. And I'm keeping track better overnight so he is emptying one well before getting the other. I haven't seen a green poo in a while! It's perfect mustard poo every time. Seeing it makes my day lol

FF thanks for sharing :) I love that she arrived on her due date! So prompt! And fantastic that you achieved the drug free and gentle birth you wanted.

Bub is 8 weeks old today. Oh my goodness he's hard work.. I live his guts though he's just so cute. I keep bringing him into the shower with me because he completely relaxes with me. After a hard day it's reconnecting. Plus it blows my mind that 8 weeks ago I was labouring in there and came close to birthing him in there!
We had our first weekend away as a family of 4 this week end. It wasn't great. Rained the whole time. The 2yo didn't get enough sleep and so was rude and had meltdowns most of the time. The inlaws were very judgey which led to DP and I fighting. We ofcorse have to take hours in the middle of the day to try to get a nap for DS1. DP becomes frustrated and angry that he doesn't have the freedom he used to. I have 0 sympathy. Another fight ensues...
Family weekends away .... Not really worth it!

Lame Peace. Number 3 and DP has almost learnt what needs to be done and what not to say :P

Yeah, I had to block feed like that until DS1 weaned, lol! (Except I did a longer time period) I do about an hour now, used to be 2hours.

Seems like Remi might be teething at 7 weeks. And rolled over 3 times today - what the?! I have a feeling his heavy head may have helped with his rolls.

Heaths drooling all down his face, down his arm, dripping from his elbow and making wet patches. Grub! Henry was exactly the same so I was half expecting that.
My house this week is TRASHED. I just can't seem to find the time to sort through it properly. It sucks.

I feel the same way about my house, but we are in NZ at the moment.

He had a large lump on his gum and I could see the White dot under the gum. He wanted to feed, but would come off in tears. A day and a half or so later it must've moved back down as the lump is only half its size now.

Hi everyone! Been a while! Hope you're all well :)
Ellie and I are doing well. She's a lovely, happy baby. She turned two months yesterday I can't believe it.
Ellie is still getting a fair bit of green poo. It settles for a day and I get lovely mustard poo then We get green again. I have been block feeding, lying down, or at least sitting back. I'll see improvements then bam, a day of unsettled baby and multiple greenies. So at our 6 week check up (at 8 weeks) I had the GP check her. GP diagnosed a tie and referred her to a paed. Just waiting for an appointment now. She's thriving though so I guess we'll just wait and see what they say.

Sounds like all your bubs are doing well (even if they're a bit of hard work!). Your birth story was lovely FF even though it sounded super intense!!

Bummer your weekend away sucked Peace. Sounds like your next one needs to be without inlaws!!

Tubbles Ellie has rolled over a couple of times but I think they were accidental! But they're certainly growing up very fast! Hope he's not teething yet. dS started drooling around now... He didn't get his first tooth til 6 months but I swear they move around all the time: poor bubbas.

I am so busy. Bub is a real misery guts and mr 2.5 is just exactly how a 2.5 year old should be. I'm helping out work leading up to xmas. And just nearly ready to tear what's left of my hair out! Dr is thinking Bub has silent reflux. I'm not convinced. I think we are just looking for a problem to feel better when really he's just a crier. BUT!! 12 days and I'm on a plane to the gc for a week. Come on!!!!

Sorry Bub is giving you a hard time Peace, and your 2.5yo as well. Sounds like you've got way way too much on your plate right now! Really hope you enjoy your trip to GC! Is it a small family holiday or are you visiting family for Christmas?

We are going well. Still waiting for a call to set up paed appt but other than that doing ok. We get days where DD just gets tired feeding and she still has yellow/green poo most days but I'm less concerned now. She's still gaining and she's a very happy baby so I'm not overly concerned.

Two weeks time is DS birthday, then BIL wedding, then the following week is Xmas. I really dislike December but this year is crazy.

I will enjoy our holiday thank you! Just a small family trip. We are running away from xmas lol obviously Santa will still find us though ;)
Last year xmas at the inlaws was ruined by smokers. So we were confined to inside because I didn't want my DS breathing it. This year we'll have freedom to do what ever we want and not go anywhere. I'm thinking beach and delicious food.

What's everyone else's Christmas looking like? Have you guys done Santa photos yet? DS1 loved him this year so ours went well.

Ah! You'll be so close to me! We are having it by the river, spending it water skiing and what not at our local sailing club that my friends have exclusive access to for the day - yay!

I am finding Remi is crying more than I can remember my other two doing. But today, after being so upset that he just.wouldnt.settle. I grabbed a wrap and wore him - instantly asleep. Why the hell do I not do this earlier?! But in saying that we had a giant mega spew this evening, even came out his nose, poor dude :(

Sounds great tubbles! we will be in Broadbeach. The weather up there should be good too. I cannot wait to run away for a week. 6 more sleeps!! I've bought DP a seal swim at sea world for xmas as a surprise! Can't wait for that I think he'll love it.

Heath seems to be settling into his life a bit more now. He's enjoying some toys and happy to see us. Lingering around 6.5kg now his gains have slowed down luckily cos carting him around in my arms kills my back! But I'm getting so good at the wrap I can do it pretty fast now. And I'm boring my sils ring sling for our holiday hoping it will be cool to wear him in up there.

I've been in agony for the last few days and it turns out I have a wisdom tooth coming through and an infection causing all the pain :( I have to have 3 wisdom teeth removed. Such ****ty timing! I'll have to wait until next year obviously but I hope I get the pain under control before we go away [emoji30] have any of you had wisdom teeth removed and can tell me anything about it?

I've had 5 wisdom teeth removed (yes, 5!! One was similar to a baby tooth but where my wisdom teeth were). I originally went to get it done with just a local. I had tears, making my dentist tear up.. Lol! So had to get sedated.

Thanks tubbles! I'm borrowing a ring sling from SIL but I'll keep you in mind if it's too hot [emoji846] it might just be pram weather!!
Omg 5 wisdom teeth :( my dentist saw me yesterday and said no to doing it under a local. So I have to do it under sedation early January. Scared is an understatement.

Hey ladies I hope you all had lovely Christmases and New Years!
We had a great time. A week before my BIL got married so we attended the wedding. DP was in the bridal party so it was me with DS (who just turned 3 and has a 3yo attitude to match) and Ellie. During the ceremony Ellie was amazing. Was following my son around (garden ceremony) and right as they said their vows she poo'd!!! [emoji15][emoji86][emoji87][emoji85] how embarrassing!
I made my dress with buttons down because I couldn't find anything nice but BF friendly.
Ellie slept 8pm til 5am last night!!!

Holy balls 8 - 5 is crazy good. Lucky you! So funny that she pooed during the wedding ceremony [emoji23] love it.
Yes happy new year ladies and babies. What an exciting year we have ahead of them learning all the fun stuff.. Sitting, eating, crawling, standing, walking, talking... All this year!

Our Christmas in qld was super. So so good. We can't wait to go back next year. Bubs totally enjoying life now so he was delightful. Toddler had a blast. Partner was ok. We are battling and looking for some counselling to help us move forward. But from my stance he's just being a **** and needs some help learning how to adult and someone to help him realise how lucky he really is.
Stability is something I didn't have as a kid so it's really important to me that my kids have it. So I either want to be happily together or apart and staying that way. Relationships Australia has a 3-4 month wait of relationship counselling [emoji15] no joke. So I'm waiting for some other places to open after holidays to try to get in earlier.
And I've managed to post pone my tooth surgery now that the infections gone the pain is too so I'll hopefully be able to wait until bubs much older now. Thank goodness I was so worried about leaving him.
Bubs just started reaching out to grab things and roughly shove them into his mouth. Anything. Toys, your shirt, bed sheets, bibs... It's very funny. And he can soak a bib with dribble so fast!! Massive dribbler. He's talking lots and loudly. Laughing, smiling... He's a lot of fun at the moment!

Hi all!
Been crazy busy here. Not long ago returned home. Been on the road travelling since Boxing Day. Qld and nsw. Bub was fantastic the entire time. She's 4 months old tomorrow,,,what the?!?!!

How are all of you and babies doing ladies? Hope you're all good!

Ellie is going well... Currently a good night sleeper but day sleeper not so much! She's lovely though. Loves blowing raspberries at me and her brother makes her laugh the hardest
