Go on to the reading eggs site and take a look Nai, but you might find that G is too advanced for most of it, Good for kindy kids that are yet to 'formally' learn reading.
J sound like she knows that she should go on the potty, but is just doing it to peeve you! Little Monkey!
Olive - J is still enjoying the reading eggs. He calls it his "homework." Thanks so much as it was you that got me on to it. Considering J is a little behind in his motor skills, giving him a head start in other areas is a great bonus to him.

Hey gals!
Wow to your big girls swimming on their own!!! We are getting there with DD but our school doesn't do without parents until 3yo so we've got a bit of time yet. She is doing very well - this week we had her in a a cap and she was much happier to wear her goggles - they have to wear goggles in 3yo classes. She looked very cute in her cap and goggles! She's getting there and she'll be right for the class next year I reckon. DS is having fun too - he should be ready to go up into her class about the same time that she's ready to move out, so that will work well.
When can they start on reading eggs? Might look into it.
As for TT - still really hit and miss, mostly miss. On Wednesday she did poo on the carpet and DH had a big talk to her about how she needed to be a big girl and do wees and poos on the toilet if she wanted to go to Kinder next year like her cousin. Then after that she did two poos vountarily on the toilet! And she wore undies for a big part of the day, so that was great! But then the next day she weed all over the carpet three times :wall: So back into nappies. Argh!
Its so frustrating - it seems like she is ready but she just doesn't want to! Driving us insane!!!
-
wow its amazing how different swim schools are!! millie will still be with me til around 2yr 10m then she will be on her own, as for googles at our school then strongly encourage NO googles until they really really need them, DD1 only got them this year at around 4.5yrs as they need to learn to swim/save them selves with out googles
-
Olive - just a reading egg question- are you finding that by level 6 sometimes you need to encourage/ assist as they are reading the books? J is pretty good, but there are a few tasks that he asks me to sit wit.h him to make sure he is dong it right.
OP -I would say the reading eggs from about 3.5 onwards. E just gets exposed to it because J is doing it. She wouldn't be able to do it on h.er own.
-
Far out! I haven't been getting email updates and now I got one, my laptop's mouse pad is playing up, and now so too is the keyboard.
Kaz - yeah I know that I should be putting myself first - and I do to an extent - using the gym/exercise and relatively healthy eating as a way of handling my anxiety. And as far as macca's parties are concerned - why not? The kids have a ball, and if they only eat Macca's once a year then there is no harm in it.
Det - oh rescue remedy - that might help DS with his anxiety - he gets anxious whenever he does something for the first time - he needs a lot of hand holding and usually needs me to do it and show him that everything is fine... and I'll try it as well - maybe it will help.
 to everyone. mwah!
No TT here either, although DS will say he did a 'weewee burp' or a poo burp when he passes wind.
He's going to the speech therapist on Tuesday, has a hearing test on the 20th Sept to make sure he's on track for his speech. He's also got a cold and I think conjuntavitis (will be at the dr tomorrow hopefully).
On the upside, got three vegie beds in, so we can play in the garden this summer. DS has his own garden bed (because he loves to drown it with the hose and then stand on it with his gum boots). Have ordered a small plastic growing house so I can start some seeds growing while we are still having frosts. Just have to do battle with the local brushtail possum who has eaten all my parsley and english spinach (at least he'll be healthy) :D
Was getting clucky when we were in Adelaide recently, but I don't see another bubs on the horizon.
Ali - can't wait to see the wedding photos on FB. I'm so excited for you :D mwah.
-
Malyna how did the speechie go?
Lilima not really, she gets frustrated when she cant do somthing but generally she's on her own, i think shes up to level 7 now, but she hasnt used it much in the past few weeks!
DD2 swimming is going realllly well, she'll be on her own soon :o which is really early for Kings as they're usually closer to 3 when that happens, so shes very advanced
-
Oh, just saw this thread pop up!
Olive- DD has her first lesson by herself on Saturday! They usually go by themselves at 3 with our swim school too but she's going into some advanced class. I'm super proud! LOL. But secretly peeing my pants! She's so little! I took her for our last lesson together on Monday and had a little teary :( When did they get so big?
-
Aww Heaven, I would have gotten a bit teary too!
Ours is closer to 3 too and DD isn't ready... But she's getting so much better, it won't be long. That'll be nice to only have one requiring parental attention in the water!
Maylna - hope DS is better by now!
How's everyone else going?
-
Ours don't go in alone until 3.5 - 4y generally as our program pool is really deep and they need to be able to stand up by themselves with head above water to be able to do a class alone. i wish it was younger as Miss J is so clingy with me and has a meltdown if I try to get her to do anything by herself. She would be perfectly fine doing it with a teacher and not having me there - it is a bit frustrating but hopefully 2 weeks in FNQ being in the pool and beach every day will help her! Only 2.5 weeks to go!! Woohooo!! Am also hoping that 2 weeks in bathers will help with the TT issues as well. Fingers crossed!
-
Right so I need to tell DH that if we are serious about TT DD, we have to book two weeks in FNQ. I think he'll buy that - he's about as over it as I am.
Maybe four weeks, just to be sure :p
So jealous Nai! You'll have a fantastic time!
-
bugger nai, our shallow is 75cm.....well you could move to Kings now lol!! Where are you going in FNQ? im looking at it for next year.
Heaven we really like swimming with DD and are actually sad taht its coming to an end, its only a short time that you can do an activity with them, one on one skin to skin :( then they grow up, im a bit sad too!
OP TT is non existant here!!
-
Haha Olive - a bit too far to travel for me I think!
We are going to trinity Beach, just north of Cairns for the whole 2 weeks of school holidays! I can't wait - although I am not looking forward to Miss J on a plane - I am hoping she will be excited and not feral
-
they may open one near you!
mmmmm might go look up trinity beach...where you staying? (if you dont mind me asking)
have you got a DVD player to take?
-
If you fly Qantas they should have one of the planes with individual entertainment units for each seat :D That's what we had when we went to Brisvegas, it was awesome. They had Dora and Diego, Miss I loved it!
DS was more of a handful than DD TBH... well until DD got tired and lost the plot, screamed and carried on and then collapsed asleep next to DH ten minutes before we landed... that was fun
-
Olive, I wonder where they might be opening? Were are staying at Roydon Beachfront apartments which we booked through Hotels dot com and got a good deal. I will let you know what they are like.
OP - we are with Virgin on the way up and Jetstar on the way back so we might need to take a dvd - although on the way up we are traveling with friends so there will be 4 adults and 4 kids so that should keep them all entertained
-
ooh so jelous you all going to FNQ- my nan lives at clifton beach! which is the next beach up from trinity beach!
Been to Cairns about 15 times over the years so if anyone needs any info- just holla!!
taken the twins and boof up there by myself and with DH a few times too!!
Found virgin heaps better travelling with kids by yourself. more willing to jump in and give a hand and you can take the pram all the way to the tarmac with them.
Trinity beach is nice- its like rosebud lol- still a bit sleepy but getting a bit ritzy with the development but still a bit backwards
i would pick palm cove with kidlets - somewhere like the novatel if you are looking for a resort style- palm cove is a bit snazzier and newer. But then again everything in FNQ is still 10 years at least behind melb!
roydon appartments were nice last time i saw them- I have worked at the Marlin gateway at trinity years ago which was owned by the same people who owned roydon- they are a few stories high if i remember and right on the beach front!!
Ok gotta get going
quick news from us
boof got into 3 year old kinder- whoot- with Ocean Princesses daughter - god help the kinder lol!!!!
TT hit and miss- he wants to go- i cant be fagged lol- gotta get it going
he goes when i put him on the loo
time to get serious soon lol
heaps of other crap happening but do wanna bore you guys
mwah
outta here AGAIN - time to move and do something
mwah
-
We don't have a shallow pool either. They have benches in the water that the kids stand on, or in the other pool there's a little ledge on the side, I think we move to that pool when she's by herself.
Olive- We like taking DD1 too :(
Nai- how awesome! you will have a great time!!
det- yay for getting into kinder! DD1 is not ready for it yet, I'll send her when she's 4.
OP- :hello: again, chasing you round the forums today, lol.
-
heaven some of our centres are like that too, luckily ours goes from 75cm-125cm
DD isnt going to kinder next year either...i assume she'll be a year behind everyone else as we're doing 3 yr old the year after
-
Hi Heaven :hello:
Yeah as det said we're sending DD to kinder. So that'll be fun. I think she's just about ready in every way apart from TT. There's a kinder readiness list on the kinder's website - says things like how social they are, how vocal, how independent and all of them I can go "yep yep yep" excep for TT.
I just had a chat to a friend of mine here at work - the one that also owns cotton bottom, the cloth nappy business in Melbourne - and she reckons I need to take a Monday off work (damn shame that  ) and give it five solid days at home where I say to her on day 1 "That's it, no more nappies." and then deal with it. So be more proactive about it as opposed to just letting her drift along.
She gets it, I know she does - after the bath for example she'll run around nudey for a while and often stop and say "Ooh - I need to do wees!" and run to the loo and away she goes. We rarely have accidents when she's nude. In undies, different story. She is just too busy with life to make that connection. So maybe if I give her a nice solid 5 days where I am there every day, we are at home (the inconsistent care between me, DH, nanny and grandparents is probably not helping) and we can just focus on TT.
So I'm going to give that a try.
ETA: Olive I think in our area its more likely the other way around - DD and det's DS are the two youngest in our MG and we are the only ones doing kinder. Oh wait, I think one other will be but only because that's what their child care does. So I think our two will be young in comparison.
-
The speech therapist cancelled the appointment - because she was sick. DS has just come out the other side of the cold/flu just great. it seemed to turn around for him when I started to come down with it - still breastfeeding so I'm not sure if that helped him... but DH and I are still feeling the after affects. my ears are blocked, I'm on antibiotics, haven't heard anything properly for a week. Kept walking into walls, but now I only get dizzy when I close my eyes and move, or when I go around a roundabout driving the car or put my foot down a little hard on the accelerator.
But have got a new round of appointments coming up. Going to see a psychologist to test the water about having another baby. I'm not sure I can cope, DH wants one and he's pushing, but I know I'm the one who will have to do everything. We have had the big talk about me doing everythign around the place, and how he needs to pull up his socks to do things, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty much pushed to my limits at the moment and I remember my last pregnancy - hardly any sleep because everything hurt and needing to have osteo appointments for weeks so I could get a little sleep and then the labour went all pearshaped... hmm.. not convinced.
-
Malyna - you guys have had it tough with being sick! I hope you are all recovered now! Dizziness gone?
Have you rescheduled with the speech therapist?
That's a good step on seeing a psychologist before you TTC again. And good that you're talking about it with DH... has he stepped up over the weekend? Helped out a bit more? I had a friend who was similar - found #1 quite tough and then DH started pushing her for #2, so she basically did what you did - told DH to pull his socks up. And he did! So I really hope you guys can work it out - if that's what you want.
AFU: We are out of nappies for days!!!! :leap: As I posted above, we gave her a big talk on Thursday afternoon about being a big girl now and not wearing nappies and she said "Ok!" and off we went! We had a pretty big weekend and only two accidents!!! Fantastic! Don't know how she's going today... she's with the nanny, which was not entirely my plan but DH decided it was time so its all happening.
Which is really good because... in case you missed it, I'm pregnant again (YEAH! :happydance: ) and having THREE in nappies would have just about done my head in!!!!
So call me crazy but yeah we're adding another one to our clan. It feels right - both DH and I didn't feel like we were finished. The reactions I've been getting have been priceless - we've only told my parents, ILs and my sister but all three of them were great. My ILs were shocked, then delighted, they teared up and it was hugs all round... lovely.
My parents are in France holidaying, so I skyped them early Sat morning and said I had something to show them and held up the HPT... Mum goes "Is that two pink lines? IS THAT TWO PINK LINES??" and Dad's there going "What is it? Huh?" Mum asked if I was happy, excited, I think basically trying to decide if it was planned? Anyway I said yes and then she cried and dad's still there going "Is she pregnant? What??"
Then I told my sister and let's just say she was less than impressed!!! She actually didn't believe me for a few minutes. Thinks I'm making a mistake - she said "I just think you're really struggling with what you've got on your plate now, why would you want to make it worse?" Thanks for the support dear sister! She'll come around.
Enough about me! Hope everyone else is well!
-
OP - Congratulations. How exciting to have three little ones running aroucnd. (and I'm serious, I love kids and I often have DS's two little friends around to liven up the house).
It's interesting you mention that you and DH don't feel like you are done yet, because when DS was under 12mths, I felt like I was done, but now he's 2.5, I think he's totally adorable and cluckiness has kicked up a gear. Unfortunately I don't have time to procrastinate or see if I'm still feeling this way in a year. I turn 41 in October and am feeling my energy wane and know it's taking me longer to get over illnesses - gosh I sound like an old woman. Most of the feelings about having a second child is that we don't want DS to be on his own, so he has someone to play with, but I don't feel like that is the right reason.
And yeah DH has picked up his act, but he's done this in the past and it doesn't mean anything, because he's done this before and just gone back to his old ways.DH thought that having children wouldn't interfer in his life. Yep. I know. So I can just see us having two, me running around trying to be supergirl, and him just slacking off and whinging about why the house isn't clean or why I haven't done this or that yet.
-
Hi ladies,
Malyna - thanks for your kind words! Any further thoughts on #2? I know what you mean about doing it for the right reason...
I have some exciting news - we have been nappy-free, day time, for almost two weeks now, and no accidents since Tuesday! :leap: We still put her in one for day sleep but the last week or so it has been dry when she wakes, so I might give that the flick soon... and still for night time, though this morning when she woke up it was almost completely dry! :happydance:
I'm so thrilled by this. She's a stubborn little thing - just needed a bit of a push I think.
How's everyone else going in general?
-
Going ok here. Studying taking a lot of my time. So a bit busy.
I also have to have knee surgery in late Oct, and will be off for work for about a month. :(
I am also in trouble with work, so am glad for the time off. I sent a very angry email to the department of human services (all truthful) and now am in trouble. They want to meet with me. tempted to tell work and DHS where to go, and quit.
-
Lilima, what has happened??? Are you being stuffed around at work? Sorry to hear that you're having a tough time
-
Yeah and typical DHS style, they are taking weeks. So I don't even know when the telling off will be! With the knee, hurt it 11 years ago. Turns out the surgeon did a botch job. So I need a new ACL replacement. Will be off for about a month. Not sure how I will go with the kids. It will be hard to make sure they don't jump on me.
-
I've been such a slack poster! Read everything then usually too tired to reply!
Meg- ouch, good luck with the surgery. And good luck woth the meeting, if you were just being honest isn't that a good thing? Could they want to meet to discuss concerns or are they just gonna get their backs up?
OP- yay! Thats great, Ash is 5 and still wakes up saturated! And congratulations with the pregnancy news! When roughly are you due? How exciting! Hope your sister comes around. I think no matter how many you have or don't have there is always going to be times when life is a struggle, if it feels right to you then who cares what others think.
Malyna- Ikwym about other half life not being interfered with post kids. That was big problem here, still is I guess but now the girls are 2.5 and 5 its not such a struggle. So I know where you're coming from with wanting him to lift his game if he wants another. Good luck with your decision, see what feels right for you.
Were only just starting swimming lessons with Emily next term, better cut down on the junk food if I'm expected to get into bathers!
On a positive note TT here just worked itself out no probs! I had waited til I started annual leave so I'd be home, made big deal about undies so she really wanted to wear them. First wee she did on the floor after that says I want toilet and off she goes! Thats it, even if were out and I've popped a nappy on she still asks to go. Just gotta work on poo tho.
-
Lilima - sorry to hear that you are having issues at work - that totally sucks. :hugs:
Shell - congrats with the TT.
I've uploaded my book to Kindle. Those of you on facebook will see my post. Did it last night. Have spent the last week staring at it, coming up with a ton of excuses not to upload it and then last night, I just decided to put it up and be done with it. (well apart from the marketing etc. )
It's Pulse by Acacia Green (I'm the only Acacia Green on Amazon. You are all there on the acknowledgements page. (so if you download the sample, you'll see your name - Kindle PC is free). (not sure if I can post a link on BB)
Amazon.com: Pulse (The Binuit-Namri Chronicles) eBook: Acacia Green: Kindle Store
-
Malyna - congrats on your book! It's very exciting!
Shell - great news on TT
Lilima - i'm sorry you've got work dramas. That seriously sucks. I work for a state govt dept and am getting sick of the need to play politics just to get my job done. I think you're awesome for telling it how you see it and I hope the delay is cause they are taking a serious look at the issue.
OP - how has your sister been lately? I hope for both you sakes she is able to be happy.
Can't remember any further back sorry!
Feel slack here too. Still waiting for DP to have another blood test. Scans were clear but blood results VERY ordinary. He has been more tired than normal lately which is worrying and to make matters worse our batty, gossiping, inappropriate, no boundaries next door neighbour has been telling half the town that DP is dying so that isn't helping. I'm usually against violent but I seriously feel like assaulting her atm and she wonders why we won't talk to her!!!!!!! Can't wait to get this house ready to sell so we can get the hell away from her!

Hi ladies,
Malyna - wow! That's fantastic, a real book! I want to give it a read... might need to get Dad to buy it for his Kindle so I can read it! He'd probably like it too... Congrats hun, that is awesome. Well done
Shell - woohoo on TT! I'm due mid-late May. Hopefully not June ;)
Lilima - so sorry about your crummy work situation. ACL replacement, ouch. Can you get someone round to help with the kids a bit? Family??
Kaz - arghhh about your neighbour. That's so what you need right now! When are you selling? Moving far? Exciting!
Really sorry DP hasn't been feeling well. How is he ATM? What's the plan?
Hi to everyone else :hello:
-
Kaz - sorry to hear about your neighbour, at least you have a plan to get out of your house. Hope DP is okay. Maybe his bloods are just picking up on him having some sort of virus or cold or something. DH's bloods often go a little crazy when he's got a bug/cold/virus and everyone starts rushing to action stations, but when he has the next round a week or so later, it's back to normal - DH's fluid levels also affect his blood levels, when he's running a little dehydrated, his numbers go crazy.
OP - why not june for bubs to be born.
AFU: Well the fertility doctor basically said that if we do have another bubs, there is a 2 in 3 chance that it will be born C-section (because of my age and previous history - and yes I know that there are a lot of women who have VBACs but I know my luck and it will be a C-Section), then we'd have to decide who many eggs we defrosted and then how many eggs we implanted, because the odds of me falling pregnant with one embie is pretty low - I wanted to remind him that my mum had me naturally at 43, but I just let it go. He was hinting at putting in two, but then said the chances of twins are small - I couldn't cope with twins. Then there is the fact that my cycle is still up the creek because of breastfeeding and Doc would want me to wean DS.
We both came away thinking - aw crap. Maybe if I was five years younger I'd do it, but I just don't have the energy anymore, no support network. Yeah there are ways we could get around it, but I really don't want to go through the 9 months it took me to get my adominal muscles back to a point where I could lie on my stomach for a minute without being in agony.
So it looks like DS will be an only child. It breaks my heart though, everytime DS sees a little bubby and gets very excited.
-
 Malyna. I'm so sorry hun.

Malyna- Sounds like there was alot to consider with the decision, I guess now it prolly feels like a grieving process. There are positives to just having one if that makes you feel any better.
Kaz- Any further news on the blood results? And omg at yr neighbour, seriously she sounds like she needs a good slap!
-
so so so so happy for you OP!!!! we're going to aunties again!!
Mylana  chicken must be such a tiough time/decision for you both xxx
Lilma ouch on the knee :( make the most of resting up!
shell how is the TT going
Kaz how is DS?
not much happening here...having surgery on november..thread about it is in platnium, dont want to discuss out in the open..getting scared :( not looking forward to it at all
-
Malyna... :comfort: I'm so sorry hun.
Olive... Thanks :D Read your thread, I'd be slightly nervous too
Kaz - news?
-
olive - I saw your thread but don't know much about it so didn't post. Massive  I'd be nervous too but I'm sure it will all go ok - unpleasant but ok.
No news yet on the blood test. He had it on Monday and we were talking last night and reckon that no phone call is a good thing as they tend to react when the numbers are low. I'm coming back to convincing myself that his last one before this was some kind of mistake or maybe it's normal for his numbers to go up and down because he's basically building an immune system from scratch and so they might dip when he's fighting stuff off or developing immunity. He has to have all his immunisation shots in 12 months again because his whole history has pretty much gone. Anyway, when he gets home at lunch time I'm going to ask him to call someone because the wait is doing my head in and I don't think I can cope with not knowing the whole long weekend too!!
In other news I just went and told the neighbour what I think of her. I got so cranky I raised my voice! very unlike me to confront people who upset me but I've been doing it more and more lately and I feel better for telling her to stay away from me and my family and letting her know we know about what she is saying about us all over town. She was already avoiding us and we were enjoying the peace the last few weeks but then she must have figured enough time had passed and she popped up in the laneway this morning when I was getting the car out (which was an old habit of hers) and I decided I needed to tell her to stay away from me cause I don't want to spend my life worrying about when and where she will pop up again. She is so far beyond appropriate it's not funny. I would bet my wage this week that she'll write us another letter now but I don't care which makes me sound heartless but she is seriously nuts. I used to think her gossip was harmless but it's not. It's hurtful and distressing. I also know that at least one other neighbour has "gone off" at her for what she has been saying about us so I know I'm not just being emotional because of what's been going on. Anyway, now I feel all brave and assertive
-
Hi everyone - I'm back from holidays and feeling great (although a bit hungover today). I popped in and out while I was away but internet was a bit flakey so need to catch up!
Malyna - sorry to hear your news
Kaz - how are you going with DP and also with DS's sleep?
OP - did you have a chat with DH and sort out the payroll issues?
Olive - how are you? Are you still thinking of Trinity Beach for a holiday? I can highly recommend it and the place we stayed at (I can get you a discount there too), especially for kids our kids age. It was so quiet and relaxed but with enough to do. We went to Palm Cove and I found it too busy and developed but that's just me. Cairns isn't good to stay in but close to get to on the bus for a day. I have put up the pics on FB.
We have no improvement on the TT front but Miss J will now jump in the pool and swim to the step under water unassisted and will use a noodle by herself to swim around - the holiday was worth it just for that! Fingers crossed she keeps it up and I won't be having a screaming clingon at swimming lessons from now on.
-
Hay Nai, so glad you had a great time, I haven't checked many of your photos yet but from what I have it looked magic. I love Qld.
DP has his head in the sand and hasn't called about his latest blood results. I have mine there next to him atm and I've decided I don't want to know if it's not good. We have been into the garden heaps this weekend, weeding, mulching, planting, hedging etc and DP is SO tired. He could hardly get going this morning and it reminded me of when he was really sick, he was just exhausted this morning. They say it can take 6 months to recover from a stem cell transplant so hopefully thats all it is. Besides, I'm pretty tired too tonight and I don't have any excuse except a busy weekend :)
Don't want to jinx myself with DS as he is still waking overnight but there has been a slight improvement the past few nights and I can't thank you enough for your suggestion of music in my other thread
Hope everyone else had a great weekend. The repeated "but why?" questions started here in earnest yesterday. I've been waiting for it but it's still going to wear thin pretty soon!
-
Nai - that resort sounds fantastic. Can you send me the details?
Kaz - Hugs. I hear you with the blood test results. Just ring. Sounds like DP has a reasonable excuse to be tired. I've only been sick since August with colds and stomach bugs but I've really noticed it sent my energy levels for a sixer (and it wasn't anything like what your DP has been through) so I understand him being exhausted.
Awesome weather lately. Been fighting with kangaroos who seem to think that all my plantings are for their breakfast. DS has changed in the last week. The vebal responses have finally caught up with his comprehension and we have been having a lovely time with communicating. My heart melts everytime he says "Alright mum" when he agrees to something I've suggested. DH is talking about dropping down to 4 days a week at work, so he can spend a day with DS. I asked him about this almost 3 years ago when DS was born and he said "Oh financially I earn more than you so it makes more sense for me to work" and now he gets it - that DS will only be this small once, and he's only got one shot at spending time with him as DS is learning to do things.
Hope everyone else is travelling well... super big spring hugs to you all.
-
OP - Huge Congrats xxx
Malyana - Big decisions ... I hear you about getting the tummy back ...
Kaz - You and DH are always in my prayers... you are an inspiration :)
Big hi to everyone!
We've all been sick with colds and flus for ages ...
Have been on the long road of a possible Autism diagnosis with Miss A which is the main reason for my sitting on the sidelines ... Just so much to deal with and get my head around ... OT and Paed agree on 'sensory processing difficulties' so we have somewhere to start :)
Girls are finally both sleeping at the same time each day giving me some time out YAY!
Here's to a good week for everyone x
