Ferrals; I bloody here you. I get in trouble for saying that I feed dd at 4 months 9 years ago!!
How long do you guys sterilise for, seriously tedious as hell!!
Hi to everyone else, sorry but just got home from gym and need to do a few things.. xx
Hey ladies,
I have had an awesome day with Ella starting last night DH sent me to bed early and did Ella's last feed at 9:30 then i got up to her at 3am and fed her she went straight back to sleep then at 6:30 she was up so DH told me to stay in bed and have a sleep in he got up to her and then got my boys up and off to school he let me sleep until 9:30 and today she has ate slept and played with no fuss and we didnt even have a grizzly hour this evening she had her bottle at 5:30 and went to bed at 7:30 and put herself to sleep Oh! why cant every day be like this.
I really think we are past the fussy weeks and she has settled in nicely.(touch wood)
Sammie-I am finding Ella's reflux is not as bad as the earlier weeks i still give her the zantac but i have noticed she hasnt brought up any milk in days except the normal dribble with a burp.
My DH use to take the adult zantac and he actually got heartburn worse on it so now he is on nexium tablets they work great.
Jaki-herbal tea's are the worst! How is your little man after his needles did he get runny poo's from the rota virus vaccine?
Tams-I forgot to add years ago we could give our babies phenergan to help sleep if they were sick or travelling ect now it's a huge no no under 2 years of age i am like WTF my doctor proscribed it for my 3 month old when we went on a 14 hour bus trip now i read it can sedate babies so much they can stop breathing :o so many things have changed.
And i will start solids when i feel Ella is ready she is my 5th bub so i dont really worry to much about the changing do's and dont's i just go with my own experience's.
And i throw all Ella's bottle's ect in a container in the microwave for 4 minutes on high they come out steaming hot and sterilised.
with steralizing, ive never actualy owned a steralizer... i wash them with a bottle brush and a drop of dish liquid under a hot tap, rinse all the suds off the leave to dry. depending on how frequent bub uses them, they get boiled up in a big pot on the stove, say twice a week for full time with bottles.
Sammie, yes i found that out by fluke! she came off and i squirted her up the nose and in the eye:o she still has it a little, but more like sleep then gunk, and its not so watery now.
Ferals, i remember my mum being told to give that stuff to my sister to help with bed time, it hyped her up more after having it, and it was menrt to knock her out!
i got dd1's todler bed all set up and the cot all done up for A, i found a bedhead/bumper thing the same as krystals and the matching dooner in the salvos the other day, for $6, so they have matching bumper things, but dont think they will have matching dooners anytime soon, i found them on ebay, up to $90 just for the dooner! i near fell off my chair. they are realy cute tho, kidsline gosema or something? any way, FX she sleeps well on her own in the cot!
hope the rest of you lovely ladies are going good.
I hate sterilising too! I have a big TTP electric thing which was great when we were on full time ebm but now it's just dummies I keep a little container of Milton on the bench.
Wyatts poos did go a bit runny from the vax but his are fairly runny anyway still from the bb juice.
Sarah my friend had the gosimer range 5 yrs ago for her daughter, I'll see if she still has it tucked away somewhere :D
Lmp - I sterilised until the kids were off formula - so a little over a year. I did it that long cos bacteria breeds in the formula, which is why it's recommended to do so on the tin. I know that midwives and mchn's say you don't need to sterilise at all, just hot soapy water is good enough, but I dunno, it's on the tin to do it, and they're the ones that make the product so I just follow instructions lol
Urgh dd3 is screaming cos DH is changing her nappy so all my replies have gone right out of my head. Grrr.
Hope everyone is good and enjoying their babies! I've realised she's not gonna sleep much in the day time so I've given up stressing about it and trying to make it happen in her bed, so i just let her drop off in her chair instead and let her sleep in that. Leads to a much happier mummy!! :) I keep telling myself that it doesn't last forever and she's my last one so I should enjoy it - not fight it. Think its helping me not to stress about it all :)
Which is good cos stressed mummy = yelling psycho mummy lol
I sterilize till bub is on cows milk. I have an advent express sterilizer that goes in the micro. So I wash the bottles in hot soapy water after use as when the 5 bottles are finished they get micro for 3 mins then I re make them and put in fridge - easy!
H has only had one feed over night again so I'm feeling great! Dh has the day off today so he did the 3 am feed do this is the first time iv been up! Yay! Now back to bed till Bella wakes! Xo
The maternity wards down here all preech sterilising they have the avent electric sterilisers and instructions on how to use them up on the wall and all the bottled water to mix with the formula is a sterial solution in bottles when i first saw it i thought it was saline or something medical and all the hospital baby bottles come sterilised in plastic bags and are to be thrown in the recycle bin after use they dont reuse them anymore.
When i had my boys it was milton solution that was used and the bottles were in plastic bags and after use were sent away to be re sterilised and re bagged.
Arimeh-I'm with you Ella is my last so i am not stressed with the reflux or her still wakeing up for a night time feed i said to myself this is the last time i will ever experience being pregnant watching my belly grow and have a newborn and the last i will have to make bottles and change nappies and the last time i will see what a miracle DH and I made together and looking at her seeing us in her and part of me is sad that this is it and my uterus is now closed for bussiness but i am also happy that i got my girl and now i get to experience that mother daughter relationship i have with my mum so i try to look at the positive of no more children and not feel to old.
I have done Ella's room up with butterflys and dragonflys on the walls her cot has hot pink sheets and a light pink blanket with embroided butterflys on it the doona is a handmade quilt pink also with butterflys in purple and blue on it with sparkling edges the cot has a pink air wrap around it and it is surrounded by her toys In her room is Emily's bed (who comes every 2nd weekend) she has a matching quilt cover and hot pink sheets and on the door is their names in purple and pink so it is a real girls room and at least the bed matches all Ella's stuff and when Ella is older if Emily still comes over i will get a nice set of bunk beds.
But at the moment Ella is still in her cradle with her mosquito net canopy (i love it so pretty)
Who has bub sleeping in their cot already Ella wont sleep in her's even during the day she will cry and cry until i put her in her cradle then she goes straight to sleep i think she feels to exposed in it and the mattress is firm not soft like her cradle even though i put her sheepskin in it she still wouldnt have a bar of it.
We will be putting H in his cot this weekend - he is just to big for the bassinett! He is nearly to long and he keeps banging his arms on the sides coz they are so long they can reach! We have his cot in our room - we did with Bella till she was 1 so we will do the same with Hamish. Though we will hopfully be buying a new and bigger (4 bed room) house very soon - well as soon as we sell this place - so the he will have his own room. We only have 3 bedrooms here - one os ours, one Bellas and the other is set up as DH's office as we run his photography business from there. Looking fwd to having 4 bedrooms! Even 5 would be great then we can have a toy room! Bliss! But that might have to wait till we build our dream house on 4 yrs on our farm.
Taking H to the Chiro today - she specialises in Reflux bubs and also babs with flat spots - H has a slight flat spot due to being wedged in my pelvis (Bella had the exact same - all good now though) and his neck being tight on one side so he favours the other side - so will have that sorted today!
Well H and DH are in bed sound asleep and Bella and I are cuddling on the couch watching ABC...
J has been in his cot for weeks. He was too big for the bassinette and was making too much noise.
I use a TT micro steraliser but I keep a jug of boiled water on the bench and make the formula as i go as this AR stuff gets a bit thick. Is it not good to give them the formula at room temperature?
If anyone knows someone using Novalac reflux I have a whole tin less 4 bottles to get rib of. THat crap is nasty and expensive and made J VERY cranky. I called Karicare and they sent me a WHOLE tin of their AR formula and that seems to be ok.
Better go. Still got massive tummy ache and a bandaid baby that is waking up.
Kylz - you can give a romm temp if you like. I just make mine up with boiled water when the water is still warm as I find it helps the formula to disolve better. I then keep them all in the fridge till I need - with the S26 it says to make with hot water and keep refridgerated and throw out after 24hrs - so I have always followed that. I always heat my bottles I just think that it tasts better warm and both Bella and Hamish will not drink it at room temp, but will sock it down when warm. But each bub is different. If it works for you go for it!
Kylz-I found the novalac formula's (i tried a few ) gave Ella bad wind so i tried Karicare AR and lactose free which were good for wind but Ella was bringing way to much up so i went to NAN AR and i found it to thick even when i made it just before she drank it so we are now on NAN HA and i add 1 scoop of karicare thickner and i can make them up and put them in the fridge as they thicken just a touch which is perfect for Ella and they dont get any thicker once cold and we have had no problems with wind at all for days now the only thing i have noticed is she has gone from 6 hour feeds of a night to 5 hours.
Oh! and Ella likes her bottles very warm.
You ladies are a chatty bunch! Time for a new thread already!
